  1. Vic likes that match a lot too. I thought like all the longer Taz v. Sabu matches it got repetitive at times and wasn't terribly engaging though I would be inclined to agree that it is there best match together.
  2. Actually the known instances of Bin Laden taking credit for 9/11 are all highly disputed by intelligence officials and people in the know. The one tape where he allegedly took credit was released after he had made numerous denials and it's authenticity has been the subject of intense debate since it emerged. The other big "admission" is based on the word of a reporter who claims Bin Laden denied the attacks on tape to him, had him turn off the tape and then took credit (certainly no worse than Meltzer's anonymous source in the Benoit story). Much of the rest of the strongest evidence against him was gleaned as a direct result of torture. For the record I am not now and have never been a "truther," and think at bare minimum Bin Laden was aware of the plan to carry out the attacks beforehand. The point is that you can play professional skeptic and dismiss just about anything.
  3. Interesting thoughts on Austin. When I went back and watched all that WCW for the SC poll I thought he looked fine in 92, but was clearly being lapped by everyone else in the DA storyline. I wonder if I would still feel that way now.
  4. There is no "they definitely knew." We don't have definite proof Bin Laden was involved in 9/11. Short of admission or recorded documentation of some sort you have to go on "circumstantial" evidence. That's pretty much how investigative reporting works.
  5. We may have discussed this before, but did Tito Santana ever work heel?
  6. Gary sucked on the shows, but I thought the Budro interview series was good over all. Buddy and Jeff Walton were my favorite guests he ever had.
  7. This is how investigative reporting works. There is no way to prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt. There almost never is on any subject.
  8. My favorite Cubeta meltdown was his claim that Chris And Nancy read like a textbook on building a mainframe computer.
  9. Kind of a last second request and this may be too late but you might want to consider Scorp v. Mikey from Holiday Hell 95. It's a title change so it may be on there already.
  10. I don't think Dave makes shit up. I think Dave has sources and his sources aren't always right or the best informed.
  11. I don't believe for two seconds that was ever the original plan.
  12. Maybe not the place for this discussion, and I'd have to go back and watch both back-to-back, but on last watch I thought Bret v. Piper was better than Bret v. DBS
  13. Mitchell is a polemicist. Cheapshots are his job. The double team crossbody devastation device thing the Steiners do in this match is in-fucking-sane and almost kills Iizuka. I'm not going to lie either - this is probably one of my favorite matches of all time.
  14. Good, but overrated match. I think it is relevant in the sense that it illustrates just how great 92 WCW was that these two guys had a match of any length was quallity from bell-to-bell.

  16. My biggest hole is Lucha where there is a shitload of great stuff I have not seen to the point where it is hard to know where to start. I've probably seen more WoS than most hardcore fans, but still there are lots of holes there. WAR and NJPW heavies from the 90's are things I need to go back and watch. Minchinoku Pro is another one, but I've got all of that sitting on a shelf ready to watch once I kill the AWA I'm closing out
  17. You will love the AWA set when it is released Matt. The best Sarge and Superstar encounter ive seen was the awesome handicapp cage match from starrcage 85. I will specify on the garvin match later as i dont have dates in front of me.
  18. Ill comment more when im on a real comp, bit i think martel and bock at worst had a couple of borderline great matches though nothing on the level of curt and bocks best. I think my favorite martel in the AWA match is actually v. Jimmy garvin. Well that or the great, mildly clipped, rheingans match
  19. I would have preferred a slow burn and had my own scenario in mind that i had talked up to Will. So of course i agree other things could have been done. Mypoint is that in the modern entertainment universe i dont blame the WWE for cutting straight to the chase with the hottest act they have for one of their bigger ppvs. On top of that the reaction and feel of the moment last night was very big time and there was nothing to sandbag that moment in real time like there was with jerichos debu or other similiar things
  20. Yep. The other problem is that you run the risk of the most over guy on the roster cooling off. In theory i think he should habe been out of actio until the Rumble. I just dont see how that would have worked.
  21. How awesome is 92 when piper v. Bret is only the fourteenth best match in a 30 day span!
  22. How does Punk draw if hes not on the show. This isnt 97. We have a much more add culture. I wish they would have kept him off tv longer, but i struggle to think of how this makes him less of a draw. He was too hot to keep off tv and that moment at the end of the show made him look like a major star in a way nothing else has before.
  23. I would go to bat for The Hollys v. Acolytes match from Sunday Night. I'm pretty sure it was billed as a Texas Tornado match and if I'm not mistaken it aired on Halloween. Match is not great, but it is really vicious and in a year where the WWF product was mediocre at best, it has allows stood out to me.
  24. Someone had some of them saved at DVDVR at one point. Don't know if any of the Jeff Walton shows were saved which is too bad
