  1. Yeah now that Ace Steel has been fired and Punk is going to be out for like another 7 months or so with injury anyway, it seems like the path has been cleared for the Elite to return.
  2. I mean he bought the rights to that Baltimora song for Jack Perry's birthday, it's not out of the question he'd get you an AEW show for Christmas.
  3. TK secret PWO lurker confirmed (I say that half jokingly, he *is* a message board enthusiast after all).
  4. Shotzi and Quincy hosting Halloween Havoc is going to be awesome.
  5. Everything at worst met expectations and most matches exceeded them, not the least of which was Vikingo/Fenix. Everyone assumed it would be nuts and somehow it was WAY MORE than anyone could have hoped for. Vikingo is on the 89 Muta/95 Mysterio "doing shit no one has ever seen or done before" level and Fenix is probably the only person on Earth who could hang with him. The match I was worried about was Taya/Kamille because it's not who the fans wanted, but Taya is beloved and got the match over out of sheer will. Announcing that the champs had be pinned in order for a title change in the trios match made no sense and smacked of someone pulling a last minute "that doesn't work for me brother", but we got to see Brian Cage yeet Bandido into the Phantom Zone so it was all worth it. Penta is a made man now for winning a legendary mask, and Villano decided to go out on his shield in what was probably his last ever match in a major promotion (there's always money in working some indies after a mask loss) and decided to just give every ounce he had left. Post-match was a great emotional unmasking moment that had the whole building in tears and was 100% the shit that makes Lucha awesome.
  6. Tony ain't playing with the mf'ers anymore, bringing back RIHO for the head to head. Also I didn't think it was possible to make her look any younger but being in street clothes did just that.
  7. To me the word has a negative connotation because UFC taught everyone that means they didn't feel like paying the champion what they wanted and/or "Dana just wanted to have a title match to help salvage this bum ass PPV card".
  8. I know they are trying to beat AEW head to head, but sending main roster WWE folks to NXT is kind of a no win situation. Either you have them beat all the NXT people and make them look second rate. or they lose to them and make the main roster person look like a chump.
  9. Io giving Byron the motherfucking murder stare while Bayley spoke was great
  10. I love that Gallows and Anderson have been able to maintain the same "openly carny as fuck" gimmick in pretty much every promotion in the world at this point.
  11. Omos vs Braun is going to be the greatest terrible match ever
  12. Yeah I'm not hankering for a Corbin push, but they did him dirty if they expected him to gain any momentum from that.
  13. If they had only done this before they shuffled the announce teams, we could have got a vintage "MAGGLE".
  14. JBL as the WWE version of Dan Lambert fucking rules.
  15. Humberto Garza Sr, patriarch of the Garza family and star in Monterrey in the 50s/60s/70s passed away at the age of 85. He was the father of Humberto Jr and Hector Garza, and the grandfather of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza in WWE. Other than his family, his biggest legacy in Lucha was innovating the Tope Suicida, which low key makes him one of the most influential wrestlers ever.
  16. I mean clearly the company is not going to mention anyone involved in The Incident right now, so that's not surprising.
  17. Wasn't the (alleged) whole reason Shawn lost his smile was because he didn't want to do the job to Bret at Mania? I remember at the time not having access to THA SHEETZ yet and being baffled that they really were going to run with Sid as champ. When you think about it, things probably worked out for the better the way they happened since we got Bret/Austin which was the kickoff point for the Hart Foundation as well as Austin's babyface run. As awesome as a Bret/Shawn match would have been, what we got ended up being far better in the long run.
  18. I loved the whole Rey/Hunter interaction, both were really good. Rey the understandably distraught father and Hunter the boss who has worked with this guy forever and doesn't want to see him throw his career away over it. Seeing a sympathetic authority figure on WWE TV was almost disorientating in how alien it felt at first, but it was done well.
  19. FWIW I think those were legit emotions from Bray, iirc getting fired and losing Brodie Lee hit him pretty hard . Not that it's not going to lead to something, but I'd wager there was a lot of realness in what we saw.
  20. So is Liv's new deal that she's into pain now?
  21. Opening with a car accident, did the NXT Parking Lot get a callup too?
  22. Tomorrow is the big finale of the Triplemania Trilogy and here is the lineup: AAA Mega Championship Hijo del Vikingo vs Rey Fenix While this wasn't the match AAA wanted, believe it or not (hi Kenny!), this match should be an absolute banger. Vikingo has been one of the best in Mexico and Fenix is Fenix, so it would take an act of God for this to not be awesome. Mask Tournament Final Pentagon Jr vs Villano IV Villano IV has been punching above his weight this whole tournament, no one expected much from him but he's been able to turn back the clock and have fun brawls. That's right in Penta's wheelhouse so this should be a fun crazy brawl even though the outcome is not really in question here. Hair vs Hair Cibernetico vs Pagano This is going to be the "Mexican ECW match" portion of the show. Pagano's matches on big AAA shows are always plunder filled spectacles, and if that's your jam this should be up your alley. AAA Reina de Reinas Championship Taya vs Kamille This should be technically good, but there's a high chance the crowd will shit on it because they wanted Flammer to get the shot after she won a mask match a while back. She probably will end up getting her shot, but in the meantime we get a follow up on a match that took place in the NWA (which no one in Mexico watches). AAA Trios Championship Nuevo Generation Dinamita (Sanson, Forastero, Cuatero) vs Bandido/Laredo Kid/Psycho Clown vs Brian Cage/Johnny Caballero/Sam Adonis This should be a good match, but it's basically NGD vs people they wanted to get on the card but didn't book a match for. Except for Cage, since he usually plays one of the characters in the Marvel themed matches. Winner gets an AAA Tag Title match Latigo/Toxin vs Kommander/Myzteziz vs Arez/Willie Mack vs Dragon Lee/Dralistico Funny how in AEW the people complain FTR never gets a shot at the tag titles, while in AAA FTR are the champs and haven't been around much to give anyone else a shot. This most likely will either be a highlight match or a trainwreck depending on how everyone ends up working together. Dragon Lee/Dralistico are the only regular tag team in the match and it would be quite the upset if anyone else won.
  23. https://www.f4wonline.com/news/japan/former-njpw-young-lion-katsuya-kitamura-passes-away-at-36-years-old Just a few years ago he seemed like a can't miss prospect, and now this. Shocking.
  24. In a non-wrestling instance of showing how important it is for your announcer to be the voice of your audience, two trash ass Thursday games in a row got Al Michaels sounding like he wants to leap out of the broadcast booth window. He's out here like JR coming up with about a dozen professional ways to say this game sucks ass.
  25. I mean, if that's the case then good. Nothing worse for a wrestling show than seeing the crowd look like they want to be Raptured out of the building due to sheer boredom. The Pandemic Era was the closest I ever came to giving up on wrestling because I just couldn't with little to no crowd noise. Also I think this might be some sort of course correction after 20 years of never having these sort of things happen at the level they are now. Plus "holy shit it's those guys from the other promotion/area" is one of those things that just always works in wrestling, even if the person wasn't a top guy. Having a monopoly for so long (or for us older farts, remembering the WWF vs NWA battles) make seeing someone jump sides hit the This Is A Big Fucking Deal button in our brains.
