I'm always down for a Horsemen beatdown and this was no exception.
-
Watching on DVR and I'm at the Elias/Trish segment. At least they are consistent in how even the women from the past are presented as bigger stars than the current roster,
-
I read that in CM Punk-as-Ryback voice....
-
Oh shit Wagner just issued a mask vs hair challenge.
-
Phantasma looking like he pulled a Kerry Von Erich and accidentally gigged his hand.
-
Park ending up one of the final two would probably help explain why AAA was so adamant the Rush/Park match wouldn't happen.
-
Jarrett beat Wagner for the title when Konnan came out dressed like Parka, this finish played off that down to Wagner doing Konnan's limp-run down the ramp.
-
Some subtext here, the last time Faby lost a hair match she barely got her hair cut and it was a Thing for a while.
-
This is why you watch the Spanish feed, even if you don't speak it.
-
Eye of the Tiger has been Konnan's theme in AAA forever. It doesn't really fit for the main heel group but it's like their equivalent to old man HBK still coming out to Sexy Boy at this point.
-
The show's started if anyone was waiting to jump in (being nearly 45 minutes late to start was very On Brand for AAA).
-
They are doing a lead up show around 6-6:30 EST, the pre show starts around 8 EST, main card at 9 EST, and the main event mask match will start at midnight EST no matter what since it is airing on TV in Mexico at that time. Keep in mind AAA is notorious for not starting on time, so those times are more of a general guideline than anything else.
-
Main card: Psycho Clown vs Hijo del Fantasma vs Pentagon Jr vs LA Park (cage match, last two left have a one on one mask vs mask match) Lady Shani vs Faby Apache (mask vs hair) Jeff Jarrett vs Brian Cage vs Rich Swann vs Fenix (AAA Mega Heavyweight title) La Mascara, Rey Escorpion, Texano Jr vs Joe Lider, Murder Clown, Pagano (street fight) Jack Evans, Juventud Guerrera, Teddy Hart vs Averno, Chessman, Super Fly (lumberjack match) Mamba, Maximo, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Carta Brava Jr, Mocho Cota Jr, Tito Santana (not that one) vs Hijo de LA Park, Puma King, Taurus Aerostar & Drago vs Golden Magic & Laredo Kid vs Bandido & Flamita vs Andrew Everett & DJZ (ladder match for the AAA tag titles) Big Mami & Nino Hamburguesa vs Hijo del Vikino & Vanilla vs Dinastia & Lady Maravilla vs Angelikal & La Hiedra (AAA mixed tag titles) Pre show: Australian Suicide defending the AAA cruiserweight title against mystery opponents not officially named but known to be ACH, Shane Strickland, and Sammy Guevara. Llave a La Gloria match which is where they put the most promising rookies in a spotlight match AAA HOF with Dr. Alfonso Morales and El Apache getting inducted. AAA is showing it live on their Twitch channels, they have separate Spanish and English feeds but you're better off with the Spanish feed unless listening to Vampiro and Matt Striker trying to pop each other all night is your bag.

WWE TV 08/20 - 08/26 THE BIG DOG IS THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION

Kinda shocked they didn't just claim his contract was on ice for him not showing up to work. Especially with the UK scene growing like it is. I guess there's limits on WWE's pettiness after all. -
I've softened my stance on that era, I used to hate it immensely. I've grown to appricate it for what it is over time, but on the Network we now have Mid South, WCCW, Mid Atlantic, and WWF all from around the same time in 1982 and the differences are stark.

For a while it seemed like he had one design that came in every color imaginable. And he's my six year old's favorite wrestler just because of all the colors he wears. -

I wonder if Braun will follow the Shield's lead and get his old band back together. After all, Bray and Harper both are without partners now. -

This could either go here, the NXT thread, or the New Japan one, but Matt Riddle's wife confirmed that his NXT offer came pretty much the way everyone thought it did. He got an offer from New Japan, and let Gabe know because he was working for WWN. Gabe told Hunter about it, and all of a sudden Matt gets a phone call with an NXT offer. -

I mean, that was kind of always how it was judged. In WWE at least. There was tons of Hulkamania/DX/Austin/nWo merch around back in the day. -
WWF All Star Wrestling from 1981 are starting to trickle in, so that looks like the classic content dump for the month.
-
It's weird that they can't seem to work out a deal with Bret to get the Stampede stuff back on the network. Also, how did he end up with exclusive rights on just his matches even after the archive was sold to WWE? (For those who are new and/or forgot, Stampede stuff had a section in the vault for a couple days before being pulled due to Bret having the rights to any footage he was in somehow)

It would be a shock if he hasn't passed him by now. Cena's barely around and Roman appears to have new merch out every week. He'll truly be the Big Dog when he pulls Hogan moves like having all the Shield merch ring up as Roman merch though.
