  1. Another "worlds colliding" moment for me and an example of how famous he was, I just saw Yoshinori Ono (producer for Capcom who works on the Street Fighter series) offering his condoloences on Twitter.
  2. I mean, if he wanted major WWE shows back at MSG that badly wouldn't he be able to lower the fees so they'd run there again? It seemed like a cutting-off-your-nose-to-spite-your-face moment for them to start charging more to run shows at MSG when there was a shiny new building in town just looking to become the new go to place.
  3. There hasn't been enough mention of his time in Mexio, so here's a pic of him with the Brazos.
  4. If they have to have an overbearing heel authority figure emasculating Kurt every week, at least it's someone new they can make into someone. Plus Baron has the perfect douchebag demeanor for the role.
  5. Probably wouldn't have mattered since it seems like he was on the bad side of the clique, since he was the cause of an all time HBK tantrum for the sin of being out of position on an elbow drop.
  6. I think I'm going to turn on my Nintendo 64 when I get home and Vader Bomb fools in Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 in his honor.
  7. Besides, WWE doesn't get to be mad when they run an event that brings in wrestling fans from all over the world and other companies take advantage. TNA was rightly clowned a few years ago when they were seemingly the only company in the world not doing a show WM weekend, it's silly for any company that has the means to not take advantage of what's essentially a captive audience. WWE doesn't get hurt by other shows, if anything they get hurt by burning out their hardcore fans by running 5 straight days of shows all running 3+ hours (except NXT normally).
  8. A lot of folks using qualifiers like "one of the best big men", and I get wanting to stay grounded in the moment, but I honestly can't think of anyone his size that was a better worker (certainly not for as long a period of time).
  9. There's tons of video game related events that pop up around E3 and EVO not officially part of the show.
  10. Today in 2002 was the very first NWA-TNA show, so happy birthday Impact! You're now old enough to get a learner's permit to drive.
  11. Bryan (Alverez) mentioned during the PPV recap the other night that (Daniel) Bryan hasn't re signed yet. It seems like Cass was kind of a dick to everyone and his not listening to the agents was the last straw. I would guess they waited until now to fire him because they wanted to finish the program they started and job him on the way out.
  12. Kind of quaint seeing WWE pulling some old school fuckery on a rival. ROH was kind of flying to close to the sun thinking they could get away with running a show there during WM weekend without reprisal, but if WWE is not going to run anything but house shows at MSG due to cost I don't see how they can defend keeping other companies out if they are willing to pay.
  13. Funny thing is he did try to finish the match but his knee collapsed on him. Not much you can do on one noodle leg.
  14. From the WO story on Cass: There's heat, and there's "Vince personally fires your ass" heat. Apparently it was all stemming from him going off script beating up the little person dressed as Bryan.
  15. Well damn.
  16. Apparently one of the AOP was having visa issues which explains why they fell off the face of the earth after their debut.
  17. Bo Wyatt made me chuckle, I'll admit.
  18. FFS, local ad for Extreme Rules hyping another Bryan/Cass match. Never have I hoped more for "card subject to change".
  19. Stone Cold Ronda Rousey to start the show.

    WWE NXT UK announced

So the long awaited UK project is going to be under the NXT umbrella with their own mens/womens/tag titles. Johnny Saint will be the on screen GM.
  21. It might be due to the low expectations I had going in, but I thought the show last night was pretty solid. Yeah, it was too long but that's how WWE rolls so what can you do? The matches all delivered, I mean we probably had the greatest match Cass is ever going to have in his life due to Bryan's sheer force of will. The Nia/Ronda match was just amazing to see how much Ronda "gets it" already. Just the whole sequence where she was standing on the apron looking at the top rope, and you can see her face going through the whole gamut of "I don't really want to go to the top rope....I need to pull out the stops to beat the giant....fuck it, let's go" was something you don't see people who have been in wrestling for years pull off.
  22. So after watching Mid South from the beginning on the network to near the end of 83, and I'm 95% sure Bill Watts is trolling with the way he mispronounces people's names at this point. Besides the famous Hacksaw "Doogan", there's Crusher Dar-SOW (emphasis on the second part making it sound weird) and the just debuted Jim Need-hart. Everyone else says them correctly for the most part, so either everyone was afraid of correcting Watts or he had an oddly specific speech impediment.
  23. So I'm guessing one can probably read into this that WWE is getting a little nervous at the in roads New Japan was making in Australia and New Zealand? "Australia has always been a special place" but I don't recall it ever being more than stop on the post WM world tour.
  24. Clearly the most intelligence insulting move WWE has ever tried pulling was to act like anyone was fooled by Steph's Undercover Boss disguise.
  25. Not absolving Vince/WWE, but the rash of guys dying was a perfect storm of the drugs wrestlers did at the time (steroids) mixing poorly with the drugs everyone else in the 80s was doing at the time (cocaine). A lot of the guys from that era who died in their 40s from heart attacks did so because they were doing blow with enlarged hearts.
