  1. So I guess that whole period in WCW where Rey was maskless and teaming with Kidman has been swept into the Chris Benoit Memorial Vault of Things That Don't Exist Anymore?
  2. Yeah, Prime Time is one of those things that is looked at completely different in hindsight. Prime Time was like the WWF equivalent of WCW Pro. Superstars and Wrestling Challenge were the main shows. Hell, even All-American Wrestling was probably on a higher level than Prime Time. I do miss seeing random Boston Garden and MSG house show matches on TV every week, but then 24/7 has reminded me how insufferably dull some of the 20 minute headlockfests between jobbers can be.
  3. Armageddon better not suck this year. Mainly because the show is here and I bought tickets for it.
  4. So what does UFC hope to get from signing Brock? They probably don't want to push his pro wrestling background, and being an NCAA champion will only get you so far. What's left, a few matches against some tomato cans? MMA fans seem to see through that more than boxing or wrestling fans do. It won't matter if they pad his record, he's still probably going to get murdered by any halfway capable fighter.
  5. Poor Randy Colley, in a span of a few months he went from being half of Demolition to being half of a masked jobber team in a death feud with the fucking Stallions.
  6. One thing I'm not clear on, do they want those records to prove some sort of diminished capacity on Chris's part or just to blame WWE for all the concussions? Because if it's the latter, it doesn't make a lot of sense since most of his career was outside of the company.

  8. Ironically, that particular photo seems to suggest she was in fact cold.
  9. To be fair, it's pretty obvious that everything WWE does is either at Vince's insistence or for his pleasure. So even if he doesn't hand pick matches for DVDs, the people who pick them have "What Would Vince Do" as their main thought.
  10. Orton took flak for his finisher? Other than that time he hilariously missed it that one time and had to redo the spot, I've never seen any complaints. In fact, him stalking the opponent right before he nails the RKO like a lion about to tear apart a gazelle is one of the best things in WWE. I think what soured people on Randy was that he was a HHH project and his involvement in anything is going to get a certain percentage of people to hate it out of spite. Also the fact that Randy was pushed as a superstar from pretty much day one with all the "youngest world champion ever" stuff seemed to rub people the wrong way. I think it's going to end up being this era's version of Blue Chipper Rocky, where we'll have Established Superstar Randy recalling on DVD documentaries how it was the crowd reacting negatively that helped him find his inner heel.
  11. Well, as a call center dude, I welcome the chance to talk to wrestling fans when they call in. Most of my co workers who aren't fans are just kind of whatever when someone calls in about WWE. So don't worry about any judgments of your character, most people don't even know what 24/7 is.
  12. I'd wager someone in the company had the common sense to realize that it might not have been the best time to release a DVD about a promotion famous for driving almost a whole family to suicide.
  13. Well I'm just happy whenever WWE remembers they own AWA footage that's newer than 1973. Also, I have "From the Vault" and a quick glance at the matchlist doesn't seem to show any duplicate matches. FTV has the Rockers vs Rose/Summers bloodbath match but this set has the actual title change a year later. It does have the Tell Me A Lie video, but if I was in charge that would be on every DVD. I'm a little surprised they don't ever include the Survivor Series 97 match. Yeah I know, everyone's sick of talking about Montreal but I don't think a lot of people have actually seen that match. Pretty much if you didn't watch it on PPV or subscribe to WWE 24/7 you haven't seen it. It wasn't on Bret's DVD either. It was a pretty good match until You Know What happened, and it is a fairly pivotal moment in history, so it's a little surprising that there's been 3 DVD sets between the two principals (4 if you count the McMahon DVD) and not once has that match appeared.
  14. Coming out on November 27: Oh man, the infamous phantom title change, a WCCW squash, the Rockers comeback match, and the Tell Me A Lie video. This could be the greatest WWE DVD ever.
  15. Basically, John Kronus was legit mentally handicapped. He was receiving what I would assume was social security disability for it which was his main source of income when his career was winding down. What's funny is the way Meltzer described it, he was like some kind of savant, a wrestling equivalent of the dude from the movie Shine. An interesting point is that if Kronus was getting government benefits, that would also mean he had health insurance, as anyone on disability also receives Medicare.
  16. Also in the Legends section there's quite the random six man tag of Sika/Samu/Ivan Koloff vs Tito Santana/Rocky Johnson/Jimmy Snuka. Kinda weird hearing an early 80s WWF crowd break out into "ROCKY" chants.
  17. Man, current events really put a different context on watching Bad Blood 97 (which just appeared tonight) and seeing Vince talk about the death of Brian Pillman earlier that day with the most uncomfortable look a human being can possibly have on his face. All while making sure he gets the point across that the prescription drugs alleged to play a part in his death were prevalent in all sports, not just wrestling.
  18. So I guess no one in Lucha is ever going to get elected unless Dave puts them in on fiat. For that matter, how the hell does Paco Alonso end up one percentage point away from election and Dr. Wagner Sr. drops to 41%? I'm not a Lucha expert, but everything I've read indicates that CMLL is the most conservative, predictable company in the world. I guess it's safe business, but is it considered HOF worthy for a promoter just to not drive his company into the ground? What has he done this year to nearly get over the hump other than have a pissing contest with Santo?

    MOVES!

It's funny in an era of escalated finishers that someone like Ric Flair can lock in a figure four leglock in 2007 and the crowd still will pop as if the end is imminent. Considering how reversing that move became a repeated-to-the-point-of-comedy spot, it really shows how sometimes simple is better and the MOVES~! crowd misses the point. I mean, I try to sit down and watch stuff like Briscoes matches in ROH and all I can think of is how many moves they sprint through that would make devestatingly effective finishers.
  20. So it sounds like the subtitle of this book could have been "Big Dave Throws His Co-Workers Under the Bus".
  21. Mick Foley also seems to have a weird relationship with Melina. If it was anyone else, you'd just assume they were sleeping together but Mick comes off as such a manchild sometimes that I could picture him going over to her house just to read comic books and eat pizza. Also, while Dave mentions the "while we were married" part; he fails to mention the "while my wife was undergoing cancer treatment" part.
  22. So does that mean WWE is going to send a form letter out offering counseling to anyone who watched during Jericho's run as champ?
  23. http://www.rspwfaq.com
  24. Which is funny since they seem to be slowly working his name back in the shows. Holy shit, I just read that guy's post on Scooter's blog. He goes from this to this uh......WOW
  25. Dave mentions that there's 3 new members of the hall, and I assume one of them is the Rock, any hawt rumors on who the other 2 may be?
