I've been noticing that on newer WWE DVD releases, they're not only blurring the WWF scratch logo (which everyone knows is a no-no now) but in footage of 80s stuff where they identify the champion with "World Wrestling Federation (Whatever) Champion", the World Wrestling Federation part is blurred. They're even blanking out the "F" when someone says "WWF" as well. I thought Vince was allowed to use WWF for all the pre-scratch logo stuff. Did the panda people bust his balls again?

The Observer HOF will continue to be meaningless until the Rock N' Rolls are in. Any Hall of Fame that refuses to induct the team that redefined tag team wrestling with a formula still used by pretty much every promotion to this day is nothing more than a joke.

Apparently you can't get "Captain Charisma" shirts at WWE live events or from ShopZone, and he's pretty disgruntled that a projected main event push got scuttled. Since he's been on SmackDown, he's been squished by Batista twice and punked by the Mexicools last night. I wonder whose Wheaties he peed in.

Someone one said (it might have been Ali, it sounds like something he'd say) that the point of boxing is to not get hit, rather than to beat someone's brains out.

I always understood that Warrior just did one of his patented flakeouts, and Bulldog got let go because they didn't want obvious roid users around when Vince was on trial.

I was wondering, considering their timeslot, what would it take for TNA to be considered a success? A 2.0 rating? A certain level of PPV buys? What's the magic numbers that would allow you to say that they've "made it"?

One thing that made Piper great is his kilt was instant heat for everyone. His opponent would get heat for calling it a skirt and Piper would get heat when he'd go nuts over it. Carlito just looks like a doofus with his tropical shirt and out of control 'fro.

That's probably one of the sternest "fuck you"s I've seen from WWE for a while. They've always been polite announcing departures. I guess telling them no to a repackaging really pissed someone off.

Jesus, I think I peed myself a little bit just reading that matchlist.
-
This was a great match, watching this with my dad and grandfather on New Year's Eve was one of my favorite childhood memories.
-
How about some AMW vs XXX goodness from TNA? I don't know the dates but I know the cage match was one of the best matches of the year.
-
Pretty cool thing to do on TNA's part. It's kind of a sad comment on the business when a company does something good and it's almost shocking.

I was watching the Wrestling Gold set with Cornette and Meltz on commentary, and during a match with David and Kerry, Dave makes a comment about how Mike Von Erich should never have been a wrestler. This kind of shocked me, as I always thought Mike was decent until his health problems and his share of the Von Erich curse took their toll.

Whats even funnier is the guy who runs it pretends he's part of the Gagne family in order to give the new AWA some credibility.

I just thought of something.... Should Joshi be in a separate category? I don't know how about footage availability but there was enough quality Joshi in the late 80s early 90s to justify its own category.

Sounds like a pretty solid plan. The only downside would be like you said, people who use this as a way to get the DVDs then don't take part in the main event. Since we're a small enough community, it should be fairly easy to keep track of who was sent DVDs and then compare that with who takes part in the tournaments. I'd say most of us here would be fully engaged in the concept, so we shouldn't let fear of leechers take away from the project. If it becomes too big of a concern, perhaps a deposit system could be drawn up so people would have some motivation to contribute and not leech. For point #2, I like how you have things divided up in terms of time period, I'd go with how you have it.

So whats the haps with this? You guys need any help with DVDs or anything?

You almost have to be impressed by Hogan, in an evil genius sort of way. The lengths he goes to protect his spot are just amazing.
-
I thought that was scripted, and Hebner goofed by giving the belt to Warrior first, causing them to cut to the crowd while they gave it to Hogan so he could do the symbolic passing of the torch by handing Warrior the belt.
-
In keeping with the theme of top ten lists: 1. Had the nWo angle re-directed as his personal career revitalizer. 2. Refused to pass the torch to Bret in 1993. 3. Kept Randy Savage stuck on the B shows because he was constantly stealing the show. 4. Would veto storylines in WCW at the last possible moment and leave the bookers and writers scrambling to appease his demands. 5. Dug up anyone who he ever did a job to so he could get his win back. 6. Took part in the Fingerpoke of Doom. 7. Immediately got all his talent-deprived friends jobs when he landed in WCW. 8. Had anyone who disagreed with him marginalized. 9. Spent a year building up the program with Sting, only to not put him over cleanly at the end. 10. Kept dragging Ed Leslie around to every new territory.

Well we're all going to have to agree to disagree I guess. I hate to cop out on an argument, but this kind of discussion has the potential to be more heated than a political debate. Bret vs HBK > Liberals vs Conservatives.
-
Of all the jobs Shawn refused, I never heard him say he wouldn't job because the HBK character was a national hero. I don't recall any of Shawn's refusals coming right before his contract with a competitor was about to start either. Also, wasn't Shawn fired over one of his refusals over jobbing the IC title? He was hired back obviously, but it shows he wasn't unpunished either.

I just hope there'll be a day where signing with a company that wants you to become a completely different person (even if they trained you) will no longer be seen as a big break.
-
Interesting.... WWE must be puzzled someone told them to cram it when asked to completely change his look and style after they were impressed enough to sign him. Hopefully he'll be back in TNA so he can help kick off the Spike TV show.

Self serving thread kick out of curiousity if anything happend with this.
