  1. I kind of like suplexes of the Taz/Steiner/Benoit variety, so this is a match I tend to enjoy.
  2. This certainly set up what was to come. But was really, really boring in doing so! The only highlight (again setting up much of it...) was Stevie Richards
  3. The ring jacket thing brought out the Sting mark in me.
  4. One of the Infernos would go on to be Snot Dudley apparently. Not important, but certainly something I didn't know before
  5. I'd actually never seen this, so I did pop for the Shatner spot!
  6. I realised watching this match how much I despise the 90's indy wrestling announcing style. Shout into the microphone. Scream about how insane anything is. Rinse, repeat, ad nauseam. So annoying!
  7. I marked out huge when He Ain't Heavy played as they walked away. That was so much fun!
  8. I had never seen this before, but I LOVED this match. I must admit, I found the 1992 set a bit more of a slog to get through (I'm still not finished yet), but 1995 is just really appealling to me 2 discs in, and this was a real highlight after the 1992 Joshi. Like Loss said, if this is below the standard of Joshi for 1995, I will be a very happy man!
  9. Definitely. I feel like I really should like these guys, but I just find them too hardgoing. I've had the privilege of witnessing Kobashi v Misawa closeup, which truly was a markout moment for me (I was filming ringside as the two chopped and elbowed each other right in front of me), but I'm still far more of a Kobashi or Kawada guy than Misawa or Taue.

  11. This is actually Tenryu & Ahara v Tatsumi Fujinami & Osamu Kido. Great match ending with a terrific bloody promo from Fujinami
  12. I hadn't seen this before, and was shocked to see that even up to the opening of the segment they were still pushing it as 'you will see the four original Horsemen tonight'. This whole show was quite the example of how to false advertise an event.
  13. Definitely agree. I think as nice as it is to allow wrestling fans to attend en masse, you always run the risk that these are wrestling fans, which means they are going to behave in a certain manner that is not always conducive to a respectful event. It's what has blighted the Hall of Fame in recent years, with people shouting out and disrupting speeches. And its the reason I too would prefer the more intimate settings for these events.
  14. This could be the first and only time a title changes hands via a skull that shoots fire. But ironically not the last time an object shooting fire would lead to a title change in 1993!
  15. Gordon Solie was clearly getting really unhappy with the restless crowd here. It got a bit uncomfortable at times, especially when he asked for a moment's silence for the deceased wrestlers, and seemed well aware he wouldn't get it. Crowd did pop for the legends, but seemed somewhat disrespectful and restless throughout. Mind you, if they weren't into the legends, and got this ceremony as well as the three legends bouts, and then got screwed over in the replacements and dq endings on the bouts featuring current stars you can't really blame them!
  16. So the Slamboree PPV goes like this.... ...fans expect Scott Norton v Sting, fans get The Prisoner v Sting.... ....fans expect Tully Blanchard, fans get Paul Roma..... ....fans expect Steamboat & Douglas v the Hollywood Blondes, fans get Steamboat & Zenk v the Blondes.... ....fans FINALLY get the main event as advertised, and it ends in a DQ!! WCW really screwed the audience on this PPV! That said, the Davey Boy power moves in this were pretty awesome, especially the delayed vertical suplex, and the match was going along nicely until the ending.
  17. I misread this as being a WWF promo, so it shocked me to hear Shawn talking about Jeff Jarrett here before I realised it was on USWA TV. Love all the WWF/USWA interaction pre the 'big angles'.
  18. "We're going to put nasty stuff right down your throat" "The Hitman is on top and you're going down" "See these handcuffs right here?" That whole verse was one long innuendo!
  19. Yep, he does. That was a nice surprise having Ishikawa get the pinfall there. As much as I am LOVING everything Tenryu on this set, I'm beginning to really get into Ishikawa now too. I've really found these matches to be the most exciting on the entire set thus far (and I love me some Hollywood Blondes/Heavenly Bodies, so that takes in a lot of things that are 'my thing').
  20. The whole speech and video was horribly self-congratulating and sickeningly sweet but the one thing that got me was Randy savage giving a speech in front of a full orchestra. That was a tremendous culture clash sight!
  21. That's quite the hidden gem you're sitting on. It's from more of a distance than the rematch one (assuming you have the same handheld I have of that-haven't quite got to this yet) but definitely watchable qualitywise. If I ever get my ass into gear and figure out vhs conversion to my pc, I will of course make a copy available. The same tape also has the Windham/Rhodes match from the same night.
  22. Cool-I remember being at the show where Sting won the belt (and I actually have a handheld of that one on tape too). The show itself was full of surprises.... firstly, Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes had a great brawl on the undercard and Windham came up from the outside the ring opposite me covered in blood (unheard of on a UK house show up to that point to my knowledge). Then, just moments after I 'smartly' told a guy in front of me 'the title won't change here, it never does on UK house shows', Nick Patrick counted 1-2...3! I couldn't believe what I'd just seen, and boy did I mark out. Of course, they changed it back again and never acknowledged the change on TV, but I will never forget being there to see a WCW title change live!
  23. I remember the spike to the arm was the first thing I ever saw in wrestling that actually made me grimace! The X actually makes it look even worse as your imagination goes to town at the time. I actually sought this out on tape at the time, and loved all that Smoky Mountain gave me on that tape.
  24. I remember this. Great little promo.
  25. Yeah, shame about the tracking issues on this one, but at least it is just one of many great matches they have on this set, so no big deal.
