  1. So I decided to look on Landel's wiki page ....say what now???????
  2. Mentioned this before but god damn are RF Video the worst producers of shoot interviewers ever. No follow up on anything, no clarification on anything, no attempt to get any in depth answers or stories, little to no knowledge of guys early careers, etc... Watching the new Tajiri shoot and they've run through the first 8-9 years of his career, IWA Japan, CMLL, BJW (no mention of him working NJPW), Puerto Rico & his entire ECW run within a little over 20 mins. Not like Tajiri does, well, any interviews in English EVER so such a wasted opportunity....
  3. Never saw Raven in ECW since we didn't get it out here on the West Coast until the TNN days so WCW was my first exsposure to him and him & the Flock were by far my fave wrestlers in high school. Lodi was actually the first screen name I ever used online for any length of time. I'm blanking on a few details but wasn't Dreamer/Raven built around them being child hood friends who ended up hating each other over Beulah and the Riggs angle was built around Raven wanting to recruit Riggs, injuring his eye, then kidnaping and brain washing him. Don't get the comparison thear, are you confusing it with the DDP feud?
  4. Jeez, what a complete dick Jake was thear, if I was the Honky Tonk Man i'd have cracked his ass with the guitar too.
  5. By some miracle I actually managed to survive my first day of training. Actually wasn't that bad, worst thing of all is my legs are sore as shit from the cardio work (I think, they didn't start hurting until like 30 mins after that part was over). Got to take a small handfull of flat back bumps just to see how I would do at it, I somehow managed to hurt the front of my shoulder doing this and I learned the very valuable lesson that landing on your side hurts like a fuckin bastard too. But yeah....survived atleast.....
  6. Actually think that's kinda pathetic on ROH's part. I mean really, dude writes a post on Facebook so you get butt hurt and threaten to sue? Lame. Stuff like that makes me lose more respect for them then the IPPV disaster ever would.
  7. Always thought the same myself actually. To me, they both wore pace paint and that's about it as far as major similarities go. Kinda like thinking Goldberg is an Austin copy because they were both bald white guys with goatees.
  8. Yup, Eadie was much older then all of them but Darsow was actually younger then Hawk.
  9. On the most recent Observer Radio, Meltzer mentioned that ROH once got as high as 10,000 viewers back when they were on standard over the air ppv and aparently the most they've ever done on IPPV is 2,300 so why the fuck did they switch????? I know bigger piece of the pie this way and they get to go live as opposed to tape delay like they were before but still, might be worth it to try going back to regular PPV at this point.
  10. Heh, far more interesting to me was Konnan's story that either Mistico or someone in Mistico's posse once pulled a gun on Alberto Del Rio and that apparently footage exist of Teddy Hart teaching cats to do moonsaults in the Hart Dungeon.
  11. Eh, Arn himself was just copying the other Anderson's before him and only got the gimmick because someone thought he looked similar to Ole who also only got the gimmick because someone thought he looked similar enough to Lars & Gene to fit in with them with Gene being the only Anderson who actually was legit named that.
  12. Well, Tensai's got that one on lock....... Heart Punch is wide open for the taking however......
  13. Devil Mountain Wrestling in Martinez. Hastn't produced anyone famous or anything but they've been around several years and trained a lot of guys locally that I consider pretty good atleast. I went yesterday to watch one of the classes and didn't get a "these guys are idiots who'll rob me of my money" vibe or anything Payment is by the month, no contract.
  14. So uhhhh yeah, kinda sorta signed up for a local pro wrestling school yesterday, I start training on Thursday. If by some miracle I actually manage to survive and ever have a match I am so going to no sell 25 burning hammers in a row and then win with a school boy....
  15. When did Bruno drop his "I don't know about today but when I did it we didn't fix matches" gimmick? When did Bruno have that gimmick? I'm sure he probably has elsewhear plenty over the years but Bruno's been on Observer radio a billion times and never kayfabed in any of the interviews that I can recall

Eh, don't really believe in that kind of stuff myself. Repelling from the cieling is a very dangerous high risk activity so from that point of view it's not the smartest idea but it has been done safely by countless ppl countless times in & out of wrestling so just because 1 person accidently dies by doing it that in & of itself doesn't mean it shouldn't be done anymore ever again or that it's insensitve or disrespectful to do so. Misawa died in the ring taking a back drop suplex, is every wrestler who does that type of suplex from now on being insensitive?
  17. At first, yes. Then she invented the moonsault footstomp and became the coolest wrestler ever. On that note, Chigusa > Toshiyo Yamada & Momoe Nakanishi > Natsuki*Taiyo
  18. Any particular reason why?
  19. Interesting point from the Bruno Observer interview the other day. Bruno said one of the reasons the WWF has always leaned towards long term face champs is because it's easier/quicker to build up heels for him to run through then it is to build up credible faces for a heel. Never really gave that much thought but it does make a lot of sense.
  20. He was basicly the entire catalyst for Punk staying, he appeared on several shows playing the role of WWE guy who could get in Vince's ear and wreck his deal if Punk didn't show up to defend his title. Foley actually did a fair bit for ROH on & off in 04 & 05, the most notable other things being the Pure Wrestling vs Hardcore angle with him & Steamboat and the mini feud with Samoa Joe that led to them having a short brawl that was supposed to lead to a Joe vs Foley match but Foley backed out for some reason that i'm blanking on atm. To be more specific, he found the amount of money they were offering insulting. Dude has a wife, kids, an outside business (none of which Danielson or Punk had to consider) and could make more money wrestling elsewhear. Don't see it as a stupid move at all. The "anyone who doesn't wanna work for the WWE is an idiot because you'll automaticly make a billion zillion dollars which is the most important thing in the entire world above anything else" attitude is something i've never agreed with. Also, the Punks & Danielsons of the world are still very very very much exceptions to the rule as far as smaller/indy guys making it to a high lvl. For every one of them that sneaks through there's multiple dozens who tried & couldn't crack that glass cieling. ...........wow, i've re-read that statement multiple times now and I still can't begin to comprehend how any possible rational human being could possibly put those words together in that order to form that sentence........wow......mind blown.....
  21. Naw, he'll be fine either way. They don't fuckin have anyone else who can work on top. Cena, Punk, Orton, Daniel Bryan, Del Rio....that's about it as far as full time guys who could credibly be world champ for a significant amount of time (more then a 1 or 2 month lame duck transitional run) at the moment. Jericho is leaving, Brock, Rock, HHH & Taker are part time. Rey they're pissed at and he's suspended. Other guys who have been world champ like Henry, Show, Miz, Swagger, Kane etc... are pretty cold right now in terms of being main event lvl guys and would take some significant effort to build back up. Other guys like Ziggler who could work on that lvl will require a lot of work to get thear too. Until all that changes, Punk is safe in his spot and would have to fuck up a hell of a lot more then that before they punish or demote him to any major degree.

    Brock is back

Heh, was just listning to Observer Radio from a day or 2 ago whear Meltzer said he talked to Terry Funk about the Brock angle and that Funk had a gut feeling Heyman had been heavily involved & possibly booking a lot of it from the start but Meltzer was skeptical on it.

For whatever it's worth Meltzer reported a while back that TNA was going to go full bore on the name change but that there was a portion of the staff that thought the TNA name actually had name brand value and didn't want it gone so that's how we got this weird half assed compromise.
  24. Gave this another look today. Still not enamored with it as much as Loss or some others but I enjoyed it more then I did last time. I got what they were going for with the finish, double pin whear 1 guy thinks he won but the other got their shoulder up last second is a pretty common ending but the execution was shit, Dandy didn't really get his shoulder up and Llanes did either right before or right as the ref was counting 3. The events leading up to the finish I actually liked, didn't mind the run in and I dug Llanes resorting to other cheating moves out of desperation. I actually thought Dandy was the rudo for most of this but wasn't 100% for sure so it was nice to get things clarified. I think the thing holding this back for me is that I tend to look at a lot of matches as a rollercoaster ride and I would have liked a bit more up and down action to the flow if that makes sense so what stuff we did get near the end I apreciated from that aspect.

    1997 Recommendations

LLPW 4/7/1997 Megumi Kudo, Shinobu Kandori, Michiko Omukai & Kaori Nakayama vs Shark Tsuchiya, Eagle Sawai, Sayori Okino & Miss Mongol Fuck this was awesome. Eagle & Shark's team jump Kudo's team in the aisle, bodies go flying everywhear, ppl get bloodied up, the young girls get beat down but won't quit, the bad girls cheat their asses off to meain in controll, Kudo & a bloody Kandori get hot tag sections and clean house, suplexes & submissions galore, the crowd goes batshit, evil is defeated and a happy ending for all. Nothing fancy, just your simple heel/face tag formula we've all seen a trillion times but they did it to perfection. The kind of match I can't imagine most ppl not loving, high recomendation. *EDIT* I watched this off DVD but if anyone wants to check it out it's up on youtube if you search
