  4. PROUD MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV Saturday 3rd September 1983 Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTVY Television Studio in Dothan, AL Hosted by Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart Before we go to the opening credits we are shown clips of this “Bullet” Bob Armstrong regaining his Southeastern Heavyweight Title from “Dirty” Dutch Mantell this Monday in Birmingham. The opening credits roll and we go to Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who are at the announcer’s desk with new Southeastern Heavyweight Champion “Bullet” Bob Armstrong and his son Scott Armstrong. Bob addresses Dutch Mantell attacking his son Scott last week, but praises his boy for coming back this week. He goes on to say he took a beating but the spirit he showed tells him that Scott is ready to go full time as a wrestler and he will debut in a tag match with him tonight. Bob goes on to talk about how happy he is to have his title back and that if he can get through Dutch’s rematch for the title this Monday night he will have another crack at the NWA World Heavyweight Title the following week as World Champion Harley Race is back in the area and after last time when he came so close, he knows he will be able to win the World Title. The Armstrong’s leave as Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart run through the massive card happening in Birmingham in two weeks, where not only will Harley Race be defending his title against either Bob Armstrong or Dutch Mantell, but also visiting are a very special tag team, and here’s a video of them. We roll to a video of none other than Stan Lane and Steve Keirn, The Fabulous Ones. ZZ Tops “Sharped Dress Man” music plays over a video of The Fabulous Ones mostly strutting about with their tops off and wrestling against The Assassins and The Wild Bills. The studio audience go wild for The Fabulous Ones. With this we have Bobby Eaton and Tom Pritchard come to the desk and say that they are the hottest new tag team in Southeastern Championship Wrestling and they are officially challenging The Fabulous Ones to a match. === Advert === This week’s first match we have Bobby Eaton and Tom Pritchard, who just challenged The Fabulous Ones, up against Javier Cruz and Vinnie Valentino, The Latin Lovers. In an action packed fast paced match, Eaton and Pritchard come out on top at 8 minutes following a Back Breaker Second Rope Elbow Drop combo from the impressive team of Eaton and Pritchard. Although looking very impressive, it’ll be interesting to see this brash team go up against The Fabulous Ones in 2 weeks. === Advert === We return to the announcer’s desk where Charlie Platt informs us that the Championship Committee has come to the conclusion to rebrand the United States Junior Title to the Southeastern Television Title and effective immediately Bill Ash will be known as the Southeastern Television Champion and we will have a 4 man tournament to crown a new number one contender TV Champion. At this moment Paul Jones and Television Champion “Professor” Bill Ash come to the announcer’s desk. Bill Ash hands his old United States Junior title belt and says his new title belt will be awarded to him once he beats the number one contender in 2 weeks. === Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile === As we return, the opening match in the number 1 contender for the Television title tournament sees The Moondog defeating Josh Stroud in 6 minutes with a Big Splash followed by the pin. After the match Bill Ash gets into the ring and celebrates with stable mate The Moondog along with Paul Jones. It’s announced during the match that all TV title matches have a ten minute time limit and the title can only change hands within 10 minutes. The other 2 wrestlers to compete in the tournament are returning Charlie Cook and Ted Allen. === Advert === Southeastern Tag Team Champions Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson with manager Jim Cornette come out to talk with Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart, Gibson who has his ribs tapped up following a Double Splash from the Assassins on the concrete floor this past week. Gibson won’t be in action this week due to this. At this point Paul Jones and his Assassins make their way to the interview arena and begin to mock the champions. Jim Cornette injects himself and tell the Assassins that his team even with one man at 50% could still defeat them. Jones tell Cornette not to write cheques his men can’t back up, Cornette again jumps in and tells The Assassins to meet them in a title match this Monday in Birmingham. At this point both Gibson and Horner look miffed, Cornette convinces them they can do it, and they agree to the delight of the fans. === Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile === Returning to the area 6”3 and former NFL Football Player Charlie Cook up against Ted Allen in the number 1 contender for the Television title tournament. In Cook’s return to the area he was successful in victory when he defeated Allen with a Running Football Tackle after 7 minutes. The Assassins and Paul Jones celebrate as Valentino and Cruz try and work out what happened. The Assassins and Paul Jones join Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart where they describe that this week in Birmingham they will win their tag title back and put to rest this feud. === Advert === Next up we have Bobby Eaton who is joined by his tag team partner Tom Pritchard as he takes on Mike Jackson. Pritchard congratulates his partner as the walk to the back. === Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile === We return from the break where Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who are joined by “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton. And once he settles these issues with The Studd Stable he will be focusing on bringing the NWA World Title to Alabama and regaining the title he once held. Now to the action, Tommy & Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton take on the team of The Moondog & “Professor” Bill Ash with Paul Jones and Ted Allen. The match goes about 4 minutes before The Studd Stable storm the ring and a 3-on-3 brawl between the Rich’s and Hamilton and The Studd Stable breaks out. With this Dutch makes his way to the ring. === Advert === We’re back with “Dirty” Dutch Mantell and Josh Stroud in the ring for today’s main event. The match goes for about 5 minutes, 4 minutes more than it needed too only for Mantell to spend a lot of time just toying with Stroud before finally putting him away with a Shoulder Breaker and the pinful. We go back to Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who run though todays results and this Mondays card in Birmingham, when we see Dutch Mantell dragging a member of the TV studio crew into the ring, Platt and Stewart are trying to work out what is going on, it soon comes apparent that Dutch has Scott Armstrong who is a WTVY studio employee but more importantly is Bob Armstrong’s son. Dutch asks if Scott wants to be a professional wrestler like his dad. Scott nods but struggles as Dutch is still holding him by the hair. Dutch goes on to say that Scott’s dad Bob isn’t a legend, but is a coward. He’d happily take Scott under his wing if he wanted to have a champion as a role model rather than a loser. Scott who is visible scared agrees just so Dutch will let go, Dutch does let go while Scott checks over himself.
