  1. Not only is this idiot partying maskless in a crowded bar and broadcasting it to the world, one of her friends was part of the insurrection at the Capitol. Garbage company full of garbage people. The hell with all of them.
  2. He's actually had a green card since 2004. That's probably why he was able to spend so much time on the indies.
  3. Hogan's best-drawing opponents were either giants (Andre, Kamala) or smaller guys who were super workers (Orndorff, Savage), and Reed was neither. At least not in 1987, because his work had fallen off greatly by that point. He had been scheduled to beat Steamboat for the IC title, but that went out the window after he no-showed a series of TV tapings because he was burned out from being on the road all the time. I certainly can't blame him. Mid-South and the WWF were probably the two toughest companies to work for schedule-wise, and going from the former to the latter was like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
  4. Maybe he thinks having Bryan as an ally in creative will help his career. Speaking of which, the latest Observer noted the difference between Edge and Bryan on the creative team. The former is using his position to push for a main event title shot while the latter is using his position to try to get other people over.
  5. Look at the adjective: "most." If there are several high-profile instances of selfish behavior by a wrestler that have to be explained away, he is, ipso facto, not one of the most unselfish top guys ever. Hulk Hogan and HHH did plenty of jobs too. Does that make them unselfish?
  6. Reks had posted a bunch of anti-mask and QAnon stuff on social media, so when I saw a headline that said "Tyler Reks is now Gabbi," I thought it meant he had opened a Gab account. Good for her for coming to grips with her identity, though. Hopefully she's been able to jettison whatever toxic beliefs she held.
  7. I believe the announcers mentioned in passing that Taker was undefeated at Mania during the HHH match at WM17. Speaking of which, I once read that original plan was for HBK to cost Taker the match by interfering, but that went out the window after he showed up in no condition to perform on the go-home Raw.
  8. I was under the impression that most of the bad blood on both sides stemmed from Harold Meij, and that's obviously no longer an issue.
  9. The only modern music I listen to is kpop. Charlotte referenced ITZY on IG a few weeks ago, which I thought was pretty cool. https://www.instagram.com/p/CJG05swsU_1/ Not gonna lie, I'd mark out if they showed up on Raw.
  10. Meltzer said on the F4W board that Vince still wanted to push Lars but he no-showed TV. I guess that was strike three for him after the first no-show and the knee injury. In fact, I'd be willing to bet they would have cut him loose after the first incident had the Mauro/JBL situation not still been fresh in everyone's minds.
  11. There was a lengthy stretch during Backlund's reign as champion when he refused to allow opponents to get nearfalls on him because he was paranoid about being double-crossed.
  12. In other news, Lars Sullivan has had a lot of time lately to slide into the DMs of yoga instructors because PWInsider is reporting he got released last month.
  13. THIS is how they blow off the Edge/Orton feud? Even by WWE standards, this is horrendous. And that wasn't even the worst part of the show involving supernatural garbage. Whenever I think they can't find a way to sink any lower, they find a way to outdo themselves. Seriously, name a worse television show.
  14. I've seen more examples than I can count of a guy in a shoot or whatever trying to put someone over as a great guy while making him sound like a psychopath or at least a deviant who would be unemployable in the real world. Buzz Sawyer must have been a real piece of shit because I don't think I've ever heard anyone say a kind word about him. It takes some talent for a wrestler to be too much of an asshole for other wrestlers to stand.
  15. That happened in December of 2003. They descended into a blizzard while stopping in Russia to refuel and came dangerously close to running out of fuel before they were able to land. Supposedly, there were three attempted landings that were called off because the pilots couldn't agree on where the runway was. All the while, the plane was being battered by turbulence so severe it got knocked sideways. I actually heard that Flair was freaking out, which is what really caused everyone to worry. There was a longstanding belief among wrestlers that flying with Flair was completely safe because the odds of someone being in a plane crash twice were slim to none. Of course, that's a textbook example of the gambler's fallacy. As far as dumb things wrestlers believe, though, that's pretty far down the list.
  16. Only one way to settle this-triple threat match, playa.
  17. Here's a stat WWE commentators probably won't be parroting any time soon: One of the two was Otis, who is 29 and a midcard comedy goof. The other was Dominik Mysterio, who is only there to keep his dad from going to AEW. BUILDING NEW STARS
  18. He'll fit right in. https://web.archive.org/web/20201024052234/https://twitter.com/DBSmithjr/status/1319871827209015296
  19. The first two Manias were all about generating mainstream publicity by loading the shows with celebrities. It's largely forgotten today, but WM3 didn't receive nearly as much media attention as the first two despite doing much bigger business. The Big Event changed the game by proving it was possible to set business records with just basic pro wrestling angles.
  20. It's certainly true that Meltzer's reporting shouldn't simply be taken as gospel. But keep in mind that much of what is attributed to him is either taken out of context or run through a game of telephone until it bears little resemblance to what he actually wrote. Take Hogan's WCW contract, for example. Here's what he wrote in his story about WCW turning the first profit in its history: "As part of a large corporate structure, there are ways of putting expenses on others' books, and it is rumored that perhaps the biggest expense of all, the Hulk Hogan salary, is largely on the Turner Home Entertainment books." That's quite different from definitively stating that to be the case, and I'm not aware of him ever having done so. Here's what he wrote about the plane ride: "There were numerous problems on the flight back from England's Insurrextion PPV, most not even related to Hall. Several believe it is due to Vince not making the trip and wrestlers believing they weren't going to get in trouble because of late, discipline has been not taken seriously because of everything Hall has been allowed to get away with." Dave obviously wasn't on the plane himself, so he can only go off what his sources tell him. Even the best reporter is going to get worked once in a while when covering a business like pro wrestling. My take is that Dave's sources in the company were trying to cover for Vince due to being brainwashed by WWE groupthink. WWE is a place where Vince can never, even for a moment, not be in complete control of every situation, and that kind of mayhem taking place right under his nose would reflect poorly on him. Really, though, whether Vince was on the plane or not is a small part of the story. Professional Meltzer-haters tend to tear apart particulars in an attempt to discredit the bigger picture. But you can see that JR confirmed Dave's reporting of the plane ride was mostly spot-on. Bottom line: trust but verify.
  21. I believe he's said that Bischoff started out as a gimmick but ended up working himself into a shoot at some point. Regardless, take note in JR's interview how someone who isn't working a gimmick and doesn't have an axe to grind mostly corroborates Meltzer's reporting.
  22. It was right around the time he asked Sting to come to the WWF so he could turn heel and put him over.
  23. A few months? It was days, brother.
  24. So who's getting the Diesel push this year? If I had to guess, my pick would be Jaxson Ryker.
