Most boring wrestler of all time?
BrickHithouse replied to Mr. Lacelle's topic in Megathread archive
I'm not going to criticize anyone for their personal wrestling tastes and who they think is boring. But... Harley Race, boring? I beg to differ. -
A hot crowd definitely makes the match better for me. It's also a decent tool when watching stuff I'm unfamiliar with - if there's a guy that I don't think much of and he's super-over with the crowd it makes me want to investigate exactly why the guy is so over. Jimmy Valiant would be a prime example. JYD might fit also. I also like crowds that do a slow burn as the match progresses where they're seemingly not into the match at all for the first ten minutes but by the end are like a pack of ravenous pit bulls. (A lot of Backlund matches seem to fit this scenario). On the flip side, I've enjoyed tons of matches with comatose crowds. Hogan-Rock, like others have said, is a great example of a crowd making the match. The first time I watched it, I was blown away. A month or so later I watched with the sound off and it was the drizzling shits.

I think the bigger problem with putting Barb in the main event at that time is the ring attire. Sorry, but you can't put the title on a guy with antlers and even a 10 year old knows that. Warlord's an interesting choice but I think Vince realized the matches would be bowling shoe ugly. Totally agree with the antlers. I'd say the same about Warload's "W" wand

Ted Dibiase -
I believe before they hired him. At the least they had the "dark" concept and might have put together the specific character around Callous. He tells the story on Austin's podcast. If things fell through with Calloway, Diamond Dallas Page was ready to go. What could have been.

Ran across this passage in Stan Hansen's book The Last Outlaw, pages 79-80: Well, then. That's not exactly scintillating info, but it's a little bit about Charlie Lay(e). -
What exactly is the criteria to obtain a vote for this version of a wrestling HOF? Ex-wrestler or sucking Dave's balls? What's all this hullabaloo about then? You've got Colt Cabana not voting for RnR because Morton was a dick to him one time, or Gibson's eye is too far out of alignment, or whatever the hell that is? Fuck Cabana then, take his vote away. Or make him come up with a better reason. Why doesn't Dylan have a vote? Or Loss? Goodhelmet? Khawk, for Christ's sake? Dylan watches more wrestling than any two people here combined. There is no legit HOF and I personally don't see how this is less of a sham than the WWE HOF that houses Vince Sr's limo driver. A possible way to make this version slightly less of a sham would be for one of the regular Dave Ball Suckers we have here to get to sucking a little bit more, change up the routine, or whatever of Dave's needs sucked to get Dylan and Khawk, at minimum, a ballot.

Worst PPV Main Event of all time for my money is Undertaker vs Kane from Judgment Day 98. -

Yes! Crush is the best example yet. Nice work, shoe. -
I'd put Dr. George Zahorian in the non-wrestler wing, if there is one.

I nominate Bulldog Bob Brown. It takes a special guy to wrestle 4-5 decades and not break the 2 star barrier.

The real question I have is how Bill Murray and John Hughes fit into this particular discussion.

Yes absolutely. Triple H is on screen way too much given his talent level. That's as good of criteria as any on an opinion question. He bores the hell out of me! As for that saying, there's also plenty of American sayings I've never heard of either -

I've never heard of that saying but I'll stick with Triple H Triple H has bored me for the longest amount of time. Take 7-10 minutes off of almost every big match he's had for the past 12-15 years and I wouldn't have too much of a problem with him. -

Larry's run with Bruno had quite a few solid matches. My vote goes to Triple H. -

Maybe it was just to get Jack Tunney more screen time? That charismatic son of a bitch was in every single segment ruling on the various happenings from this time period.

I believe it was the beginning of Hogan's exit plan so he could take time off after WM 8 to hide out from the steroid stuff and/or make another movie.

[1990-WWF] "So Close To The Real Thing, It's Like Being In The Ring!"
BrickHithouse replied to Loss's topic in January 1990
It was unfortunate that they didn't have a cage accessory for the WWF ring, but the WCW galoob ring came with a red cage. I painted that sumbitch blue and used it with the Hasbro ring! I also bought two WWF rings and used the LJN cage accessory to stage War Games matches. (I didn't get out much as a kid....)- 25 replies

Jiz, what exactly was Dibiase's shadow run? The shows when he actually possessed the belt? I didn't think that was more than a handful of shows. Or, Jiz, are you talking Feb 6 thru WrestleMania?
