  1. It's actually run largely by Samu now. It's actually two promotions now - Afa moved to Florida a few years back and still operates WXW there. Samu continues to run the Pennsylvania version as WXW C4.
  2. Tonight, live at 8pm EDT, it's Time Limit Draw! Check out the show at http://grug.tv/live-feeds/time-limit-draw/ - tonight's panel includes Matt, Irish Kev, and Eric from the usual crew, plus NJ/NY indy guy Sweet Bobby G, and filling in for Joey Image, Vin Gerard's roommate Tyler! Have a topic for the guys to discuss? Leave it here! And watch us live tonight!
  3. I don't see how it could be anything other than Jericho/Fandango, as the whole build for Fandango's debut has been him backing out of his debut. It makes the most sense for him to lose instantly, as if he knows that's going to happen, and that's why he's been ducking his matches this whole time.
  4. Going live RIGHT NOW! Click the link in the first post to watch the show! And leave potential topics for us to discuss!
  5. This Thursday night, we go live with another episode of Time Limit Draw! The show airs at 8pm Eastern at http://grug.tv/live-feeds/time-limit-draw/ (last week's show is currently on the page - the new episode will be linked in that space before we go on the air), and this week, Image, Eric, Irish Kev and I will be joined by NY/NJ indy guy Sweet Bobby G! We're always looking for topic suggestions, so if you have any ideas, post them here and we may use them! And don't forget, you can always get the latest info on the show through our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TLDonGRUG) or on Twitter - @TLDonGRUG!
  6. The Charlie Bucket/Grandpa Joe stuff comes much, much later in the episode, and if you're a Grandpa Joe fan, it's a topic I'd avoid. And Image was stoked to hear from you (indirectly), Johnny. In fact, his exact response was "Yay!"
  7. Even though the show isn't fully about professional wrestling, I wanted to share the new podcast starring myself, NJ indy worker Joey Image, and NEPA locals Irish Kev Spencer and Eric Eichhorn. The show, Time Limit Draw, debuted this past Thursday night, and it has a simple premise - basically, think Pardon the Interruption, just not about sports, but instead about anything at all. It runs every Thursday, live at 8pm, on the Growing Up Geek Podcast Network. This week, on our debut episode, we talk about a wide variety of topics - wrestling-wise, we discuss War Games, Big Josh, and the idea of pay-to-play on the indies. Outside the ring, we tackle major issues like rodeo clowns, why Grandpa Joe is a bastard who's trying to do more harm than good to Charlie Bucket, and Image's Mustard and Rock Farm. Click the link for this week's episode! http://grug.tv/live-feeds/time-limit-draw/ Also, follow us on Twitter at @TLDonGRUG, and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TLDonGRUG!
  8. I had completely forgotten about the MOO MATCH OF THE WEEK. Sadly, there are no clips on YouTube that I could find of Dusty mooing through a replay for me to relive and just laugh at. It was so awesomely random - I would have loved to have been in the production meeting (assuming that one even happened) where Dusty said "you know, I have this great idea - I'm going to moo on TV," just to see what response it got.
  9. I lived in northern New Jersey until the tail end of the summer of 1990. At that point, having cable in our house was spotty - sometimes we did, sometimes we didn't IIRC. Even when we didn't have cable, we still had access to wrestling through the rabbit ears, and with that we got NWA's syndicated programming (I believe it was Worldwide) on NYC's Channel 11 on Saturday mornings, which would then lead right into Superstars at noon on Fox 5 (followed by American Gladiators, of course). And then we had Wrestling Challenge on Sundays at noon as well. From there, we moved to the Poconos, where if you didn't have cable, you didn't have TV, so at that point we got everything that was available at the time - TBS on Saturday mornings, nights, and Sunday nights, ESPN on weekdays, WWF on Monday nights, etc.
  10. Thanks for the input, guys. I definitely like Yo-Yo's idea with the progressive pot for guessing the next entrant - maybe we'll incorporate that this year.
  11. So, I'm looking for some new ideas. Every year, at the Royal Rumble gathering at my apartment, we do a standard Royal Rumble pool - everyone throws $2 in and picks numbers at random, and the person that draws the number of the winner gets the cash. It keeps everyone interested in the match as they groan and say "aww man, I got David Otunga/Hornswoggle/Jim Duggan AGAIN!?!", and makes it fun for the non-fans who come just to hang out. What we're looking to do this year is maybe change things up a little bit, or at least modify the current pool that we always do. So I turn to you, the fine folks of PWO - do you guys partake in any kind of pools for the Rumble? And if you do, how does your pool work?
  12. Does Alex Reynolds still do the thing where he has a butler come out before he goes to the ring to wipe down the ring ropes? I always loved that part of his act.
  13. The one thing that really surprised me here with all the numbers posted is how the NWO didn't bump up PPV sales. In fact, even though it was a slight drop, the buyrates still were lower in the two months following Hogan's turn.
  14. What really gets me here is that someone would really name a move "Submission Impossible," which basically implies that the move sucks and would never get you the win in a match.

  16. I'm glad you put this on here. I used to have this entire episode on a VHS somewhere that my dad had taped from WPIX on first airing, but I lost it when I donated all those tapes to a local wrestling school a couple years back for their students to study. One of the many gems I lost by doing so. "To the hospital, that is!"
  17. Is this the Funk's Grill with the "Bangin' Up on Hawk/Animal/Ellering" song, with Funk ridiculously dancing in the background? If so, it's legitimately one of my favorite interview segments in the entire history of wrestling.
  18. Shoot Phil Schneider a PM. Will do. Thank you sir!
  19. Speaking of the DVDVR, I stupidly decided to change my e-mail address on there, and every time I get re-verified, I still don't have posting privileges. Who do I need to talk to over there to get it fixed? Or, what am I doing wrong when I re-verify the account?
  20. At the very least, they could fall back on Hornswoggle not being able to talk in those days, therefore needing the laptop to communicate. It still makes very little sense, but at least that small loose end could tie it together a little.
  21. Their power has always been overstated. If they actually had the irresistible Rasputin-like influence over the government which their opponents claim, then teachers would be paid and treated a hell of a lot better, and not constantly under the thumb of admins and school boards like they always are. As someone who has been getting the run around from the state of Pennsylvania for the better part of two months now as they keep finding reasons to delay my teaching certification (and in some cases not even telling me what those reasons are!), knowing this happens makes my brain hurt. Yeah. My mother is a teacher with excellent academic credentials and an impeccable employment record, and currently she's working a part-time gig as a tutor in between her shifts at fucking Walmart. Nobody will hire her, partly because she's too old and experienced and every school just wants the cheapest teachers they can hire. And she's also been repeatedly fucked over by the background tests; I can't begin to count the number of times she's been fingerprinted for these jobs, it's literally dozens if not hundreds of times. Meanwhile, not a week goes by where you don't seem to hear of some scandal about a teacher molesting his students and it turns out that they just forgot to do the background check or otherwise missed the fact that he's a proven sexual predator. What state are you/is she in that you have to be fingerprinted with every teaching app? Here in PA, you just have to be fingerprinted once a year, and that counts for any application you put in. I'm trying to find a way to blame JR for all of this (you know, the fall of the educational system), just so we can bring the conversation full circle.

  23. There was a board I was frequenting (the In Your Head Wrestling Radio board) for a little while where the term IWC was thrown around like the word "the" on a daily basis. I personally thought that the idea of an IWC went away in 2004 or so.
  24. Without posting spoilers, I have to ask, because I never watch Superstars so I don't know if this is normal - I was at Smackdown last night, and in between NXT and the Superstars match, the refs and some production crew members came out to change the ring aprons and ropes. They got the bottom and middle ropes changed, and then Tony Chimel announced that Superstars would be beginning in 30 seconds, with the top rope still the yellow NXT rope while the middle and bottom were blue. Cesaro and Kidd made their entrances, walking around refs who were still tightening the top rope, and then the ref called for the bell to start the match while the ring was still being worked on! Is this an normal occurrence to see on Superstars, or just a one night botch?

    House shows

WWF @ Bethlehem, PA - Stabler Arena - January 16, 1999 (6,129; sell out) Steve Blackman pinned Tiger Ali Singh WWF European Champion X-Pac defeated Owen Hart The Acolytes defeated Skull & 8-Ball Triple H & the Road Dogg defeated Test & the Big Bossman Gangrel, Edge, & Christian beat Al Snow, Bob Holly, & Scorpio Jeff Jarrett defeated Goldust The Godfather & Val Venis beat Mark Henry & D-Lo Brown The Undertaker defeated Kane in a streetfight WWF World Champion Mankind defeated the Rock This was far from my first experience with a WWF house show, but it stands out for me for one reason: The Rock's promo from just before the main event. Now, The Rock graduated from Freedom High School in Bethlehem, but he was in the Corporation at the time, so he got some heat regardless. He got on the mic and said: "Finally, The Rock has come back to Bethlehem! Where The Rock graduated from the greatest high school in the world, Freedom High School! (big pop) It's sure as hell better than Bethlehem Catholic, and it's sure as hell better than Liberty! That said, the one thing that The Rock remembers about Bethlehem (crowd starts to come up for him again) is that it's the world biggest gathering of trailer park trash that The Rock has ever seen!" MASSIVE heat from there. That said, Foley got a nice reaction when he won the match after some botched interference from Jim Neidhart, who could be clearly seen standing behind the curtain waiting to come out.
