  1. I will always remember the blurb on the Observer Pillman bio where Shane Douglas suggested Pillman to be his opponent at the 1997 November to Remember and Paul's response was that Pillman wouldn't live that long. Sadly prophetic.

  3. Obviously Raven's act doesn't get over on this board, but I grew up on grunge, and I thought the concept of a whiny grunge heel blaming everybody else for his issues was awesome.
  4. Whether or not that was Jim's verbage, I have little doubt he was irate that Muschnick used Pillman's death to call for a WWF boycott and was thrilled to bury him for doing so.
  5. This match is at the top level of "garbage" brawls. It doesn't say much for Vince that he thought the WWF crowd wouldn't know Cactus Jack.
  6. Wright has an awesome heel act. Someone should steal it, it would still work today.
  7. Agreed. This match is well worked as part of a bigger story than viewed on a stand alone basis.
  8. I agree with the sentiments that while this is awesome, it is Pro Wrestling 101 that if you bury the faces to this degree, they have to get revenge soon after.
  9. I hated this match when I saw it on PPV. I must've been too young and dumb to appreciate it, because I watching it in 2013 I thought it was really good until the interference.

  11. This reminds me of the very best parts of territory wrestling. The hometown hero's vanquishing the hated heel in front of a molten hot crowd. This match never gets old for me.
  12. The small details like Austin arguing with the Harts on his way to the ring, are what has been missing from WWE for a long time.
  13. Between this match and Lawler/Goldust this is a top shelf Raw.
  14. If more non-Cena faces went over in this strongly in blow off matches, I'd imagine that wrestling would be more popular. For all the very legitimate criticisms thrown the way of Hall & Nash, this match was exactly what it should have been.
  15. The beauty of this lied in the face that Bret pissed and moaned about Shawn faking a knee injury for months before this and than its strongly implied that he is doing the same. Classic heeling.
  16. I would go so far as to put this on part with the Austin Wrestlemania match as Bret's best performance. Owens facials when Bret cuts the promo are also top notch.
  17. Paul is in the top shelf of all time great promos in my opinion. There's a dozen or so in that league, but his ability to passionately get his point is peerless.
  18. There is nothing more pro wrestling than Tracy Smothers turning heel and renaming himself Shaquille Ali...in Memphis...to go against Lawler. Thus rules.
  19. I will co-sign the Embry/Corino shoot as really good. They did spend a a lot of time on the beginning of Embrys career and rushed through the stuff Embry is known for, but still worth the $15.
  20. Wonderful bit if foreshadowing by Paul, referring to the wildcard entry as a "joker." It ended up being Do ink played by Matt Borne.
  21. Hogan was shook here. He stumbles his words and his eyes are darting all over. I don't think it occurred to him that he would get booed out of the building.
  22. There is definitely a case to be made that this is the smartest worked angle and match of year. The fact that the match never got out of 2nd gear makes it hard for me to call it the best though.
  23. I bought the VHS of this show back in 94 and this match had most of the blood edited out. This must be from the live PPV feed.
  24. I didn't have an alternative year in mind, but the first 3 months of 1994 have me coming around to the point of view that it is the greatest in ring year in history. I have watched all the yearbooks, with 1997 in the on deck circle.
  25. Ricky's promo is pitch perfect. I am generally a fan of modern wrestling, but its a shame that wrestling has changed to the point that I don't think anyone could pull a similar promo off in 2013.
