At the time it probably was too insider. Watching it now it's an amazing promo. Intense, insightful, condensed, captivating and ground breaking. All Steve Austin had to do to become a star is be allowed to be himself.

Back in the good old days when 220 pounds was the minimum acceptable weight for being a pro wrestler. Make no mistake, this product isn't BAD like anabolic steroids. Or other white powder's that it's consumers may have purchased.

[1995-10-29-WWF-Halloween Havoc] Hulk Hogan vs The Giant

Hogan probably imagined that the crowd would be supporting them both or possibly in his favour. Even during the best NWO moments it was rare for Hogan to get as much heel heat as he did here. Putting Hogan/Sting on TV actually did end up working because a memorable PPV encounter could've made Starrcade 97 less successful.

[1995-11-26-WCW-World War III] Interview: Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage & Sting

The only slight negative for Melzer is that this wonderful free advertising took place on a PPV rather than Nitro.- 8 replies

You could've put Hogan with a group of three year olds and he'd have been the most selfish person in the room. Even by his epic standards of egomania this was a standout moment. He can't even bring himself to job in a Battle Royal and has to cut a promo immediately afterwards to reassure himself that it's all still about the Hulkster.

There are so many comparisons you could make between ECW and the song it's not surprising they kept playing it every year.

Maybe it's just me but Beulah looks hotter in '95 than she did in subsequent years.

I love the Dungeon of Doom too! Tommy Dreamer beating up Eric Bischoff was funny. He'd have to wait a long time for the real thing.

[1995-11-19-WWF-Survivor Series] Bob Backlund and 'Bill Clinton'
Zenjo replied to Loss's topic in November 1995
Incredibly this didn't stop Bill Clinton being re-elected. Obviously no WWF fan would vote for him after seeing how silly he looked here. But then again, this is 1995 so there weren't many WWF fans. -
In a highly comedic segment they just decide to turn Duggan into a fighting Oirishman character. They already had the real deal in Finlay.

Even by Hogan's standards of shilling and repetitiveness this was so spectacular I had to do a count. In the space of 100 seconds there are no less than 31 mentions of either Hulk Hogan, Pastamania, Hulkamaniacs, Pastamaniacs, Hulkster, Hulkaroos, Hulkayoos, WCW, Monday Nitro, TNT or Mall of America. And 6 brotha's.

[1995-09-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Music Video: American Males
Zenjo replied to Loss's topic in September 1995
I know I'm not a woman so may be wrong about this, but Scotty Riggs never struck me as being hugely blessed in the looks department. But in a business where El Dandy can get pushed as a BJ babyface, I suppose that's not essential.- 6 replies

This was such a great way to launch the first Nitro, and it did feel like the dawn of a new era. The shock of Luger turning up and straight away he's in Hogan's face and a main event playa.

I've said it before, but I'm amazed they were able to stop Shawn from walking out to the ring naked at some point.

[1995-09-10-WWF-Action Zone] Bertha Faye, I Love You
Zenjo replied to Loss's topic in September 1995
Rhonda Singh was good at one point, but it was a long time before Bertha Faye. Future Women's Champion Harvey Whippleman was no stranger to Wrestlecrap ideas. -
This is like The Narcissist gimmick, only not serious. There's so many generic entrance themes out there that's it's refreshing to hear something totally different. For someone who often came across as being an asshole it's nice to see Orndorff having some fun out there.

[1995-09-17-WCW-Fall Brawl] Paul Orndorff and Gary Spivey
Zenjo replied to Loss's topic in September 1995
Gary Spivey (no relation) had some interesting headwear shall we say. Orndorff's acting was so bad a porno director on a shoestring budget would've reshot the scene. I love goofy shit like this, it's part of what makes sports entertainment fun.- 11 replies
