It seems MJF vs Wardlow is a go, thanfully. Now I wonder if a returning Kenny Omega getting into the main event (rematch clause? :lol:) as a surprise would've been enough of a surprise to make up for MJF not tshowing up.

yup, it's dumb of an idea for me to believe it's been a work this whole time. Then again, I also think it's incredibly dumb for MJF to do this thinking this is gonna help him. But at least in that case it would be 1 person being dumb, not 2 (or more).

To be honest, I'll take 4 or 5 of those matches going short than all them getting at least 8-14 minutes. If the last card felt way too long and had the crowd very spent by the 2nd hour (3 if you count the pre show)-and with a better build up than this one-, I don't think Chicago can keep it up for 4-5 hours with the way most of the people in AEW work. At least they are gonna save themselves for the main event but man, I thought people would've learned from WM and NXT that this superlong, full of workrate shows are not the way to go...

I don't know, feels like the biggest mistake Khan did was taking the TNT Title away from Miro, who was doing an awesome job establishing that belt. I'm not sure if him filmimg that TV pilot that got picked up was a reason for him losing the strap but man, AEW lost one of their best segments of weekly TV and never coming close to getting it back hurt.

The "shoot" elements were Miz asking Bryan if he was so tough why wouldn't he just quit WWE and go wrestle somewhere else (which was something Bryan had actually done already by that point, but WWE didn't let him go). Miz can cut good promos, the Talking Smack one might be his best one but he can talk for sure.

I think they missed an opportunity for an unique house show+TV tour for the Owen tournament. Make it round robin put your biggest names in it (and in the case of the women, invite whoever you can to make it feel more special) and book small-to-medium sized buildings for whatever weeks are needed. Tape the tourney matches that aren't on Dynamite/Rampage and put them on Youtube. Hype the shit out of the coming shows on TV. Make it a big fucking deal. I don't think it would be a money loser considering it would be the only tour of the year. Another throwaway tournament to fill TV time feels like a such a waste.

They already established Warldow's weakness is the same as Brock's: their balls. So if MJF starts with a cheap shot low blow, his control segment will make sense. That PPV was always going to live and die on the "dream matches" they are able to book though. The novelty of seeing first time matches/pairings (or if Omega was around, beloved rivalries) is what's gonna sell it. There's not a lot of hype they can do on TV besides "you know these New Japan folks are great, you also know our AEW folks are great, just imagine what you gonna get on PPV".

Wardlow vs MJF is the only feud worth a PPV match. I'd be shocked if Punk vs Page isn't a MOTYC but I feel like we need like 3 more weeks of build to really make it feel like a big fight. And every other match feels thrown together to fill the card. Granted, a lot of good/interesting matchups, but no "I gotta pay money to see it" feel.
