[1998-06-01-WWF-Raw] The Undertaker and Vince McMahon
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in June 1998
Great segment! Didn't think Taker was whiny at all. He feels Vince has taken advantage of his loyalty and well now it is time for Taker to get his. Vince is great in this. Not as great as in the Foley segment but that is once in a lifetime. The Is your mother a whore line is great. JR said it best he is brazen now in a way he never was before. -
[1998-05-31-WWF-Over The Edge] Vader vs Kane (Mask vs Mask)
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Vader vs Sheamus...drools This started off as a pretty good hoss sprint. I thought Kane actually brought it to Vader but you have to. I like the two Vader Body attacks leading to a zombie sit up. Finish was good wrench revenge by Vader to missed moonsault to the Tombstone. Never seen fat piece of shit. Sad. JR tries to spin as positive but Vader never recovers.- 10 replies

Bradshaw & Taka Michinoku vs Kaientai - WWF Over The Edge 1998 This was super fun! Kaientai fleeing everytime Bradshaw enter the ring was great psychology and entertaining. The M-Pro guys doing there was awesome and led to a great heat segment. Kaientai were such douches it really amped you up for the Bradshaw hot tag. That hot tag was glorious. The size differential, Bradshaw steamrolling muthafuckas and the triple teaming leading to an M-Pro was all classic. Michinoku Driver, but save. Senton wins it for Kaientai. Really enjoyable and good psychology and great M-Pro action. ***1/2

Excellent segment. Mero is such a slime ball -
[1998-05-25-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs The Undertaker
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
I disagree Chad because the arrest follow up was so good. I like that Taker choke slammed Vince establishes he will be with Austin. I agree that Dude should have gotten one more over on Austin. Kane had detained Taker so Dude taking out Austin two weeks in a row would have helped. Minor point. -
Wow! I'm a Kliq mark and I hated this, but you both loved it. I'm pretty shocked. Super unfunny and the payoff with the sky writing was so lame.

I have been loving these RAWs but DX is by far the worst part of these shows. Ok, DOA is worse but DX is right there. That top Gun bs was so wicked lame. Rock looked better than HHH here. Very back n forth. No real sense of urgency. HHH no fire and his comeback with a face buster is lame. Is this beginning of Sexual Chocolate and his love for Chyna? This felt like a 2016 match just with less workrate.

That All Japan 2001 tag is fucking awesome! The part where Araya comes in and immediately gets punched in the head and starts bleeding is one of all-time favorite moments in wrestling. I had this in my top 100 for Japan in 2000s. Nice to see it spotlighted.

Besides the skinhead, biker DOA working a chump switcheroo gimmick in their feud with LOD, this has been the worst thing so far in this two month run of TV. Really, really bad.

[1998-05-25-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin and Vince McMahon
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Bah Humbug, Chad! This was fucking glorious! Maybe my favorite segment of this run! I am loving the week-to-week continuity and progression. I am so used to each RAW being a vacuum and disconnected that was I like how will they follow up last week, when it felt like a go home show. Well they of course do the logical thing when a "fan" jumps the rail and assaults a wrestler they have him arrested! Beautiful! Loved all of this. -
[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin vs Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Tons of fun! Patterson is only five years older than Funk! I feel like we robbed of many years of great Patterson but probably for the best for his body. Patterson was great bumping all over the place. Stunners for everyone, but when it is time to get heat Dude Love puts Stone Cold with the claw. Strongest Foley has looked and puts over that numbers may have finally got to Austin. This felt like a go home show. I'm interested to see what they have next week -
Dude Love vs Dustin Rhodes -WWF RAW 5/18/98 Funny exchange: JR mocks Vince forcing him to call Patterson a hall of gamer as a shoot. Lawyer quickly retorts it is always 53 year old Funk, which was hilariously Awesome short match. Apparently Dustin legit had a knee injury but you wouldn't know it. Easily the best Babyface worker on the roster. Great fire early aggressive and choking Foley. Foley going after the injured knee was great. Nice Dustin comeback climaxed with bulldog. Foley wins with Claw. Too short to be much God wish Dustin got more chances in 98. Great layout.

[1998-05-18-WWF-Raw] Interview: Vince McMahon & Dude Love
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Great stuff from McMahon claiming he gave Austin a concussion and thus he wouldn't be allowed in the arena is a double whammy of heel awesomeness! Corporate Dude Love is fun. I'm loving the mini feud between Dude and Dustin. Such smart booking that uses continuity! This should be the bare minimum, but almost never get it. I ducking love it! -
Val Venis vs 2 Cold Scorpio - WWF RAW 5/18/98 I wanted to write this up because I thought this was a horrible debut. Watching some bad wrestling (I do watch RAW every week but that's mediocre not bad). I guess there was mediocre but for a debut it just felt really bad. Scorpio is a horrible jobber. He looked like a way bigger star than Venis. He had some great moves and great charisma, but didn't use it to make Venis look good. Venis looked pretty green here. I have no clue if he was a heel or Babyface. You don't know his style. The hip swivel was great and was literally his best spot. It just felt like a bunch of basic spots. Nothing to grab your attention or hol you in. I love fundamentals but was not connecting them. Seemed very generic. Gives you no reason to care about the character going forward.

That Sable workout video last week was awesome and this was a great segment. Mero is a pretty good heel and I like his look as a scummy heel. SABLEBOMB~! Clearly Mero helped, but I was impressed. RAW is on fire!

[1998-05-11-WWF-Raw] Interview: Vince McMahon & Dude Love
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Foley was excellent in this. Speaker of four languages, lover of women and a surprisingly good dancer for a big man! VinnyMac introduces Brisco as the timekeeper and Patterson as the Announcer. They build and build to the ref and then they even tease Bret Hart as the special ref until Vince is announced after he went back to find the ref. Awesome segment. -
[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Terry Funk vs Mick Foley (Falls Count Anywhere)
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Mick Foley vs Terry Funk - WWF RAW 5/04/98 Stone Cold apologizing for his language because it is usually a lot worse was hilarious. Austin was great on commentary dropping Jerry Lawler like a bad habit and cussing like a madman. I had fonder memories of this match. I did not really care for it. The crux of the match was Foley proving himself to McMahon and that he had finally snapped and was willing to beat the holy hell out of his best friend. It felt like an extended squash with plenty of arena brawler. There were some memorable spots. Like Funk bashing Foley's head so hard unprotected that he was bleeding from top of the head. Then not much happened. Arena brawling ensued. Suplexing the hot dog guy was more cute than anything else. Funk got his one big spot the moonsault (sidesault) from the loge to Foley. Funk's selling of a stinger was great, Foley piledrove through table and then beat the living shit out of Funk. After multiple piledrivers in the ring including one on a chair wins him the match. It was great for its purpose of putting Foley over, but there was not much here to make this the great match I remember. Post-match McMahon comes out with Dudettes and the dancing that ensues is fucking amazing! Great segment, good match. ***1/2 -
[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Jerry Lawler and Paul Bearer
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Seen this before. Funny segment. Sounds like the conversations me and my buddies have had. Well none of us have spawned the Devil's Favorite Demon. The set up with the set down camera and then Lawlwr apology was perfect. Taker running down and assaulting Beart during Kane/Goldust was great. -
[1998-05-11-WWF-Raw] Brisco Brothers Body Shop Commercial
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
I loved the one from 5/4 with the Vince voiceover and Brisco saying everything he has is owed to Mr. Mac Man -
[1998-05-04-WWF-Raw] Mick Foley, Vince McMahon and Steve Austin
Superstar Sleeze replied to Loss's topic in May 1998
Maybe the best segment so far. Vince has really grown confident in the role. Before he was that annoying face punch able boss, now he is the maniacal, Machiavellian mastermind. He is a stronger, angrier character. He manipulates Foley into fighting Funk so that he can truly unleash the hate necessary to defeat Austin. I love how the whole segment is structured around bring number one contender. Fancy that it is about winning not about being entertaining and guess what it is entertaining! Austin raises some serious hell destroying the Love Shack! Great stuff -
Vader vs Bradshaw - WWF Breakdown I am a total mark for super heavyweight slobber knocker. It is my favorite style. This was a great hoss slug fest. Bradshaw was throwing some stuff shots especially clothes lines. Bradshaw is a big boy. Throwing Vader around impressive. Bradshaw had a good big boot. Vader throwing stairs was wicked. Not to be outdone Vader murders Bradshaw with a clothesline on the outside. Vader splash and Vader Bomb Kick Out! Bullshit! This crowd sucks no heat. I guess neither character is over. HOLY SHIT! Bradshaw tries to take Vaders head off with three Clotheslines From Hell! It is a neck breaker that finishes Vader should have been Clotheslines. Super fun! Bradshaw was great standing toe to toe with Vader. He should have been pushed earlier. ***1/4
