  1. Just seeking a bit of guidance for those who know this match and the TV leading up to it well. According to Wikipedia, the formation of the Dangerous Alliance and their rivalry with Sting begins at the tail end of 1991. However, the War Games is in May 1992. Considering time constraints, what is a good jumping on point in terms of weekly television to get the build up to the War Games as effectively as possible? If I had time, I'd be looking from the start of course, but I'm assuming (hoping?) that there might be a way of looking at it from closer than the 1991 footage.
  2. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/roll-dice-2/ A very WWE-centric selection this week. Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect (King of the Ring 1993) Mr Kennedy vs Batista (Royal Rumble 2007) Randy Orton vs Christian (Money in the Bank 2011) John Cena vs Brock Lesnar (Summerslam 2014) Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar (Wrestlemania 2015) Rusev vs John Cena (I Quit Match, Payback 2015) As always, comments are welcomed!
  3. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/05/13/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-12/ The one where I get to discuss three Brock Lesnar vs The Big Show matches. Joy.
  4. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it so far. New episodes out every Friday.
  5. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/roll-dice-1/ With so much wrestling to watch, I allow a random generator to choose six matches from my collection to watch. Column #1 includes review of: Christian © vs Ezekiel Jackson (ECW Title Match, Royal Rumble 2010) Jushin Liger vs Owen Hart (NJPW 28.04.1991) Jamie Noble © vs Billy Kidman (WWE Cruiserweight Title Match, Vengeance 2003) John Cena © vs Rob Van Dam (WWE Heavyweight Title Match, One Night Stand 2006) Ric Flair and Razor Ramon vs Randy Savage and Mr Perfect (Survivor Series 1992) Crazy Boy, Xtreme Tiger and Rocky Romero vs Decnis and La Hermandad Extrema (AAA 01.02.2010)
  6. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/05/06/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-eleven/ I get to talk about The Big Show vs Fabulous Moolah. Sure, it doesn't count as a title defense, but WWE 2002 ladies and gents.
  7. I heard that he ruptured a testicle/ripped his scrotum. May have been just putting two and two together, so to speak, but injury seemed fairly serious.
  8. My potential concept would be a person who I could watch every five years, or in four to five different places over a five year window. Something along those lines I think.
  9. Hello I was looking for some good examples of wrestlers that would be worth looking at in terms of a diachronic look (over time) and a more synchronic look (same time), with perhaps different territories/regions/promotions instead. What I was looking for is maybe some examples of wrestlers who would not only fit nicely within either way of analysing, but would actively be interesting to look at. I was thinking someone like a Shinjiro Ohtani might be worth a look - Dr Wagner Jr, perhaps? Looking at older lucha, his NJPW stuff and modern brawls. Any other good ideas? Cheers
  10. The crowd generally stay the right side of things, but can be a bit annoying in person. However, I do really enjoy the stuff the company churns out. Another promotion I currently like is Attack Pro, although I'm not a huge fan of the guys in the main event stuff (Wild Boar, Eddie Dennis). Their undercard is really fun though.
  11. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/making-progress-chapter-13/ Back to my attempts to watch chronological PROGRESS - here is Chapter 13, main evented by an insane ladder match between Jimmy Havoc and Mark Andrews for the PROGRESS Title.
  12. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/29/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-ten/ Next part of the story with regards to the 'Real' World Champion. Brock Lesnar in 2002 is a beast. More news at 10.
  13. Number 9 in the bag - check it out! https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-nine/
  14. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/wrestling-year-19-03-1986-25-03-1986-part-3/ Two NWA shows with a match between Sam Houston and Black Bart for the Mid-Atlantic Title, plus the revealing of all the teams in the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup.
  15. How would you decide who gets the belt in a scenario like, say, a tag match where the champion's team loses by countout and there's no specific individual "winner" on the winning side? Or what if you run into a situation where whoever the current RWC is, happens to retire or die or otherwise never wrestle again? I gotta say, I do love any train of thought which leads to things like Spike Dudley: Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. Apologies, but I didn't make it clear in my first post - it has to be contested in a match where the champion is wrestling as a singles wrestler. Therefore, it can change hands in multi-man matches, but not tag team matches. As for the situation you mention about deaths or retirements - I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Potentially, stuff like Molly Holly defeating Helms or the debatable concept of having the World title contested under the Hardcore's 24/7 rule does allow me a different timeline if needs be, but I can't see that being an issue for a little while at least - the biggest issues will be wrestlers like Goldberg, Benoit or Brock Lesnar (depending on when he wins it) holding it at a time when they leave/die.
  16. That's really interesting, as I'd never heard of that. Makes for pretty cool reading, and like the fact that it could make the argument that the Godfather was champion.
  17. On top of my A Wrestling Year project, I currently contribute to Kayfabe Today weekly with a column called Tracking The 'Real' World Champion. It is based on the concept of the Unnoficial Football World Champions, with the idea being who would be the champion if the World Cup was up for grabs in every football match involving the reigning champions? I took this idea, using the starting point of Chris Jericho's mini-tournament win to become the Undisputed Champion, and have been tracking who would technically be the champion if all matches involving the champion were title matches, and titles could change hands on any form of loss (DQ, CO loses the title for the champion, for example). I've done eight columns, and they are linked to below - do check it out. I think it is a fun concept, and there have been some interesting 'champions'. https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-one/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/04/tracking-the-real-world-champion/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/11/tracking-thereal-world-champion-part-three/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/18/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-four/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/03/25/tracking-the-real-world-champion-2/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/01/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-six/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/08/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-seven/ https://kayfabetoday.wordpress.com/2016/04/15/tracking-the-real-world-champion-part-eight/ I'll use this topic to update week by week, but check it out and let me know what you guys think.
  18. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/wrestling-year-19-03-1986-25-03-1986-part-1/ Two title matches and two shows from Mid-South as the big UWF rebrand begins.
  19. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/wrestling-year-12-03-1986-18-03-1986-part-4/ Final show for this week is in Memphis, and includes footage of a title change, as well as continue build up to the TV return of Jerry Lawler.
  20. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/wrestling-year-12-03-1986-18-03-1986-part-3/ After a break for Wrestlemania, here are the NWA offerings for the week of 12th-18th of March. The big news is we finally get the announcement of the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup seedings, as well as the NWA Heavyweight Title match for the same show.
  21. If I was looking for AJPW TV episodes, where might be the best place to look? Some of the ones listed at the start are no longer in operation.
  22. I watched this in a pub in Loughborough. I've never seen a group of people so apathetic to everything that happened in a wrestling ring as what I saw post 3.45am. People were getting really angry at the extent of the runover time - no-one ever asked for an extra 45 minutes on top of the four hours Wrestlemania always offered.
  23. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/wrestling-year-12-03-1986-18-03-1986-part-2/ We get a debut for Jake Roberts, the team of Uncle Elmer and George Steele, and two Joshi teams wrestling on Prime Time Wrestling in this weeks' WWF offerings.
  24. I really enjoyed doing mine as well. Might as well post it up here. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/pro-wrestling-punditry-with-liam-byrne/
  25. http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/a-wrestling-year-12-03-1986-18-03-1986-part-1/ Two episodes from Mid-South involving altercations between The Sheepherders/Dibiase and Williams and Sawyer/Duggan.
