I did a thread comparing 90s AJPW to modern NJPW and I said there that despite Baba being the promoter of a bigger, far more money-drawing promotion, I think Gedo is a better booker for his ability to make new stars and find quality headliners. But hey, they sold out 200 consecutive shows at Budokan, so Baba clearly did fine.

History has shown that faces getting beaten fair and square again and again before winning their big one just does not work well. Jeff Hardy had genuine potential to become a big draw, but he was beaten multiple times and was never the same. In his case, it was probably a good decision because of his outside-the-ring issues, but that's not booking that turns out good. I am not saying that isn't the plan, but I don't think it's a good plan. The execution was certainly not good. It also puts an asterisk next to Shirai's win, cuz you can argue she stole that win.

Read the results. I don't care what the defenders will say: they destroyed Rhea's momentum. Her title win over Shayna remains the only time NXT beat AEW in both overall audience and the target demo. She was hotter than a firecracker and it felt like they had their next gen superstar. And now she is just another name on the roster.

Thank you for that, @The Thread Killer. I have to think that the stuff about them not having signed AEW contracts is them working. After the Marty Scrull fiasco last year, I don't think Tony Khan is going to give any kind of prominent push on his TV to unsigned wrestlers.

I don't understand why Hunter is so high on Adam Cole. He's not big, or jacked, and it's not as if NXT lacks great talent. But then again, a friend of mine pointed out that a wrestler constantly doing long promos and thinking he is funnier than he is would be right up HHH's alley, so there's that.

I mean, love and praise is relative. No one is advocating for them to be nominated for the WON HOF. They won't look great if put through the Gordy list, but I will say they were genuinely great in 2015 and the Sasha-Bayley feud was, in terms of the overall product, the peak of NXT.

I agree with everyone who has said that they have botched Sasha and Bayley almost irredeemably on the main roster. Having said that, I laughed hard at this - This clapback was long coming and absolutely warranted.

WWE firing people sucks, but I am glad he got resigned. He's really talented and now that they have pushed his resigning prominently, I hope they give him a push.

AND a table bump! I hope Cody's matches don't have so many bells and whistles every week, but for the first title defence, it was fine. Good match. A much improved show from last week imo. The Tyson thing was kept to a minimum, and a bunch of over wrestlers being showcased. Fyter Fest will be a 2-week Wed night event, so they are building monthly TV brand shows to supplement their PPVs, which I think is a smart move.

Of course Cody blades for his first title defence. I like how they weaved MJF and Jungle Boy being a rookie into the story there.
