I was a subscriber and don't feel like it's worth my money anymore. I've mentioned that I can't really stand Alvarez the personality so I avoid most of the site content aside from WOR with Dave and the WON. The Bryan and Vinny show is just terrible. Why anyone would want to listen to a 30 something man talk to his grandmother about random bullshit is beyond me. The message board is possibly the worst I've ever seen. I haven't been there for a year or so, but maybe it's changed. Considering they had/have a thread about oogling underage girls, I doubt it. That's two strikes. Lately WOR is becoming useless and at times annoying. Shit like that awful TNA "should they try" exchange and Dave just comes across as a curmudgeon about anything wrestling related that's not NJPW. So everything, but the WON is of no value to me and I don't think the WON alone is $10.99.

Jericho and Flair beat him clean by submission a week or two after the HHH and Rock matches. You said Rock was hesitant to put over Helms because Triple H wanted to squash him to prove he's better than Rock. The Rock then loses to Helms and instead of Hunter squashing Helms, he did IMO a better job of putting Hurricane over. Let's see...Triple H makes Rock think he's going to squash Helms to one up Rock, Rock puts in a half assed effort because of this and Hunter then actually has a competitive match with Hurricane instead of predicted squash making him look like a team player. Huh. He really is the Cerebral Assassin. Or this is just BS to cover up that Rock did a poor job putting someone over. Even if that wasn't the case, Rock should have put more of an effort anyway. He knew he was untouchable so why not stick it to Hunter and make Helms a star? Hunter is the one who's going to look like an ass if he did squash Helms. Anyway, this is just going in circles. I'm just going to drop it.

...what? That's some impressive reverse psychology H has going there. I'm guessing Flair and Jericho were in on this scheme too?

Not defending Benoit but murder is still murder. Doesn't change it. Everything should be done to avoid it. I try to avoid these kind of conversations, EDIT: n/m, I'm going to continue doing that.

Hasn't this been "debunked" already? If anyone besides the Rock had the match with Hurricane that he did, the bitching and crying of burial would still be going on today. Here's the match with the Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHGnhyJSVeU . Rock controls 90% of the match, treats him like a joke thoughout the match and is about to finish him off before Austin distracts him. Hell, they don't even play his music after he wins and JR more or less says he doesn't have a chance, but is just going to put up a decent fight. Here's the match Triple H has with Hurricane a few weeks later: . It's a shorter match, but Triple H gives him a ton more offence and a visible fall. The near falls Helms got on the Rock were based on Rock goofing off too much while the HHH match had him looking more competitive. He lost, but at least looked like he could hang with the world champ. Not like a lower card goof who annoyed one of the top dogs too much and got his ass kicked for it.

The Jones title shot was total out of nowhere "we want to pop a buyrate" UFC matchmaking. Chael hadn't even fought at that weight class in years and was handed a title shot coming off a PED suspension. It was ridiculous. I heard a commentator on an NBA game last week say "he's turned heel!" or "he's gone heel!" or something like that. Yes, heels and faces is wrestling terminology, but they exist in the lexicon to the degree that a random NBA commentator can make a comment in that regard, or a random Yahoo writer can write that headline, and to pretend like it's a 100% only applicable to wrestling turn of phrase is silly. Wrestling may exist in a bubble, but that doesn't mean that "outsiders" aren't acute to the sport. This is not "Dave Meltzer thinks everything is rasslin" If someone says "X turned heel," you think wrestling. He didn't call her a heel for being a dick, he said "she turned heel" as in her character is now that of a heel/bad guy.

Anyone think the Lesnar/HHH program would have went better if their promos were like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meQ-fhkVjd0

So is there any reason to turn Brodus heel if all he's going to do is job? It seems he would have been better off with Tensai if the focus on tag teams continues. Hell, we could have used a heel team of two big fat guys just to help put over acts like the Rhodes and the Usos. And all the fussing about the Bryan angle reeks of "my favorite isn't in the main event (except when he is...) so he's being buried!!" Guy gets a shit ton of TV time and more often than not gets the W. Did WWE miss an opportunity to make him the next big star? Possibly. He's still doing really well despite that. I think Loss is a really intelligent guy, but Bryan has in no way been buried and it's actually difficult to see how anyone could think that. Buried is Dolph Ziggler going from WHC to trading wins with gimmick wrestlers in random gimmick matches with no direction by year's end. Bryan could have been handled better, but he's still constantly a focus and is still involved in one of current top 3 or 4 programs.

Cena comes across as a better human being than Punk. Punk wishes he was Shawn Michaels back in 1988 writing horrible things on the back of fan's denim jacket for his own amusement. I don't think Punk is that bad. While I wouldn't call him an overly kind person towards the audience, I can't see him doing something like that or throwing a knee brace at someone's family member who has cancer. I think in a different era he'd be worse than he is now. Well, a lot of Shawn Michaels' asshole attitude came from being drugged up 99% of the time. Dealing a chain wielding drunken fan in Memphis probably would get a different reaction from him than some 12 year old tweeting about how he "sux" so he may have been worse. I don't really know.

Chael Sonnen knew his role completely, played up to it vs. Anderson Silva. And due to this UFC did some great PPV numbers. He wasn't even the #1 contender Oh, that. Yeah, I mentioned it in my first post. I know they play up certain characteristics, I'm referring more to the (far off, admittedly) possibility having Anderson Silva cut a 10 minute promo before his fight about how all the inner city sweathogs need to get ready to look at a real man.

I'm talking about UFC in it's current incarnation specifically. I'm aware of worked shoots and whatnot.

You don't really see a ton of Germans these days and when you do, they're usually done by guys like Bryan or del Rio. When they do it, it's usually the bridged kind. The rolling Germans are far worse. Three or four consecutive bumps on your upper back and head and that's the normal move. Benoit would occasionally go nuts with them and do shit like 9 or 10 in a row.
-
Just in case, I want to point out Dave didn't actually write that article. It just seems similar to his old "MMA is pro wrestling" talking point. While I'm aware they play up certain things and I think this is just a case of that with no pro wrestling chicanery, I really hope they stay away from people becoming actual faces and heels. You're just one step away from doing fixed fights after that.

Just watched the series of Shield/Cena and Friends matches. Really good, but with the discussion of what happens to the Shield after they break up, people point to Rollins possibly having no direction. At this point, it seems clear to me that Ambrose fans would have cause to worry. While Rollins doesn't have a tremendous amount of focus put on him, Ambrose seems to be the one being set up to put over Reigns as a babyface. He's also been the one dropping falls in most of their big matches and is the first one eliminated in any type of survival match. Little things too like Seth, Big E. and Roman appearing in videos like this ( ) make it seem like they're friends or at least friendly with a certain person with sway.

Too bad it's a Hot Topic shirt: Cena enjoys it:

As you prove time and time again. Anyway, someone mentioned Punk's livejournal. It's actually still up at http://cmpunk.livejournal.com/. He hasn't used it since Eddie died, but I wonder if he looks at it sometimes. It's been 8 years since he last wrote anything and it doesn't seem like he's changed much. Some stories on there are amusing (a conversation with a drunk Harley Race complaining about working with that "faggot Indian" and it turning out he meant the Ultimate Warrior) and some cringe worthy ones where hyperbole is obviously at play (a scenario with a cop that plays out like a wrestling promo).

Bob Holly of all people busted a few out before dropping it. Looks pretty cool. http://youtu.be/GE_0Cr6_JWs?t=3m21s

Dave's not writing for Yahoo anymore, right? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ufc-168--rond...915415-mma.html The headline on the front page is "UFC 168: Ronda Rousey submits Miesha Tate in third, turns heel with handshake snub". She turned heel. Can't just be a jerk anymore, you have to be a heel.

It's probably going to be Hunter/Punk and Bryan/Shawn. Bryan hasn't really had any interaction with HHH since HIAC and they've had Shawn and Bryan engage in physical confrontations. With HHH throwing Punk off of Orton and booking him in a handicap match vs the Shield, they seem to be leaning towards that match happening. Anyone a little disappointed with what they're doing with Show? He shouldn't be champion or anything, but he was getting really over as the "Angry Giant Unleashed on Authorities". After being punted and getting the world's fastest healing concussion, he's been thrown in a team with Rey and has made no attempt at getting any type of retribution. Hell, Bryan at least got several PPV main events and continued tension with Triple H and co.

It seems Jeff has left TNA. He hasn't disclosed why yet, but the past few years, the relationship between he and Dixie seemed to be rocky. Is it another effect of TNA downsizing? https://twitter.com/JeffJarrettTNA/statuses...197084347006977 Yeah, people leave all the time, but he was one of the founders and was apparently doing agent work in the back. He supposedly has/had a minority stake in the company too. I wonder if his relationship with his dad will improve now.
-
Yes. Specifically, it's a Dixieland match, which is a cage match of sorts. To win, you have to escape the cage, go up the entrance ramp, and climb a ladder to retrieve the belt that is hanging above the top of the ramp. I'm not making any of this up. And you win dinner with Dixie, correct? That's seriously what I heard. And to fly on her corporate jet. That wasn't a high fall, but Jeff landed right on his shoulder on the fucking ramp. In a match that was on free TV.

Not sure what any of those first three and Twitter have to do with ring work. Yeah, Styles being homophobic is unfortunate, but wrestlers in general are terrible people so stuff like that kind of has to be pushed to the back of your mind if you're going to enjoy any wrestler besides someone like Lance Storm.

I don't know why people rag on that Erik Watts dropkick so much. If you were to actually try to dropkick someone, I'd imagine that's what it would actually look like.
