After the match, Sting got a printed memo… it reads… Next week. Sting vs Hase! Angles that happened ~Sid and Harley Race have to put over the top 10 and say they are the rightful number 1 contender and if Sid has to destroy Ricky Steamboat to get there he will! Lex Luger comes out and he is ready for a fight but Sid plays the chickenshit heel putting over how Luger can’t touch him! ~The Steiners cut a good promo on the Nasty Boys. They talk about Missy really getting around. They accept any challenge from the Nasty Boys but it won’t be a match… it’ll be a fight! ~Alexandra York cuts a good promo as she’s flanked by Tenryu, Saito, Chono, and Hase. She puts over the top 10 rankings and how even at number 7, Tenryu will get the next televised title defense of Sting at the Clash of the Champions. On that night, the Japanese International Heavyweight Champion, Tenryu will defeat Sting and add the WCW World Championship to his list of accolades. ~ Paul E and the Dangerous Alliance cut a scathing promo… they talk about Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes, and also Muta. We find out that Muta takes on Larry Z tomorrow night on the Main Event! ~Sting finishes the show putting over a match against Hase next week. He knows he's tough, he’s quick, and he’s got some extra help in the corner… but I’m gonna have a couple lil Stingers out there going nuts! WCW The Main Event - Tony Schiavone & Eric Bischoff Sid Vicious w/ Harley Race killed Ty Lawson. Sid then powerbombed him and broke the stretcher. The Road Warriors make their return in a nice tag match Van Hammer with a good win… he’s got the look but not much else Hase w/ Alexandra York defeated Kendall Windham The Great Muta defeated Larry Z w/ Paul E in a great 12-minutes contest. Both men were on their A game. Larry looked like he was going to win it but Paul E kept saying to let him hit Muta with the phone. Problem is that Muta moved, Paul E gets spinning kicked off the apron, Muta ducks a clothesline from Larry Z and does a slick leap to the middle rope and then a moonsault hitting Larry and getting the cover for the 3-count!

World Championship Wrestling Weekend of August 1, 1991 The show has to start with camera footage from the Omni on Thursday night, July 30th. The scene shows Jesse Ventura in the ring as he explains that Sunday Night at the Great American Bash, Curt Hennig cashed in his US title opportunity against the World Champion after his match with Sting…. Since he lost… he is now scheduled to face the number one contender for the US title. Hennig and Paul E come out. They are up in arms… they’re giving Jesse the business as Paul E says he’s been betrayed… Hennig says his back is hurt! Jesse then says… he doesn’t make the rules… he just follows him…. Paul E wonders who will be the guy… Jesse then points to the stage… and here comes… RICKY THE DRAGON STEAMBOAT! The crowd erupts…. Steamboat comes down, and we get an impromptu match… for the US title… these two go balls-to-the-wall for 7 minutes… Paul E tries to interfere… Rude, Anderson, and Larry come out to try and interfere but get run off by Dustin, Muta, and Ron Simmons! Steamboat then locks in the double chicken-wing! Hennig is writhing in pain…. Paul E is up on the apron and Steamboat drops Hennig… he comes over…. Hennig can barely stand… he runs but Steamboat moves and Paul E gets rocked and goes flying into the Dangerous Alliance. Steamboat has quickly gone up top…. FLYING BODY PRESS for the 1….2….3!!! RICKY STEAMBOAT IS THE NEW US CHAMPION! Following the footage from Thursday night at the Omni, the cameras take viewers to center stage where Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to World Championship Wrestling. Ross says what fans witnessed moments ago has completely changed the landscape of WCW. "Ricky Steamboat is the new United States Heavyweight Champion, Curt Hennig is no longer the champion, and after everything that happened at the Great American Bash, World Championship Wrestling is entering a brand new era." Heenan shakes his head. "The Dangerous Alliance had one bad night, Ross. Don't fool yourself. They're still the most dangerous group in this company." Ross announces that Clash of the Champions XVI will take place live on September 8th. Already signed, Sting will defend the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, while the Steiner Brothers will defend the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Fans will also hear from the Walking Riot Missy Hyatt and her newly acquired Nasty Boys later tonight. Johnny B. Badd vs. Steve Wilson Johnny B. Badd continues winning over the WCW audience with another entertaining performance, finishing Steve Wilson with the Left-Handed K.O. Punch. As Badd celebrates, the camera cuts high into the arena. Standing alone... Teddy Long. He quietly watches the entire celebration before turning and walking away without saying a word. Ross wonders what Teddy Long could possibly be scouting. Dangerous Alliance Eric Bischoff is standing by with Paul E Dangerously, Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, and Larry Zbyszko. One man is noticeably absent. Paul E wastes no time. "The past week has been filled with rumors. Let's clear them up." He looks directly into the camera. "Curt Hennig failed." "He lost the World Championship... then he lost the United States Championship." Paul's voice grows colder. "You don't lose one championship... you lose two." "He is no longer a member of the Dangerous Alliance." Rick Rude steps forward. "The Dangerous Alliance doesn't rebuild... we reload." Arn Anderson nods. "Tonight... we start putting things back where they belong." Larry Zbyszko smiles. "One bad night doesn't erase months of domination." Paul finishes. "Scott Hall has been suspended until September 1st for his actions against Flyin Brian at the Great American Bash. That's unfortunate... because tonight... we begin taking this company back." Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs. Keith Douglas Bagwell continues to impress, using his athleticism to score another convincing victory. Ross says every week the rookie looks more comfortable inside a WCW ring. Harley Race, Sid Vicious and Lex Luger Harley Race says there is no debate left. Sid Vicious defeated Lex Luger at the Great American Bash. Sid deserves to be standing across the ring from Sting at Clash of the Champions. Suddenly... Lex Luger storms onto the set. Officials immediately get between the two men. Luger points directly at Sid. "You didn't beat me. Harley Race beat me." Sid laughs. "I already beat you. I'm done with you." "There's nothing left." Luger lunges forward but security holds him back. Sid simply smiles as Harley leads him away. Ross says Lex Luger clearly isn't finished with Sid Vicious. Skinner vs. Bobby Hayes Skinner makes his return to WCW with a rugged, physical victory, putting Hayes away with a running reverse DDT. Heenan says Skinner may not be pretty, but he's one tough customer. The Undertaker vs. Billy Stevens The Undertaker continues his march through WCW. Billy Stevens never has a chance. A Chokeslam is followed moments later by the Tombstone Piledriver. One... Two... Three. Paul Bearer slowly rolls another body bag into the ring. Undertaker silently places Stevens inside before zipping it shut. Bearer raises the urn. "Another soul... has entered the abyss." Ross says no one has been able to stop The Undertaker since arriving in WCW. Flyin Brian Interview Tony Schiavone congratulates Flyin Brian on retaining the Television Championship. Brian admits he's still feeling the effects of Scott Hall's assault. "My back's sore. My ribs hurt. But I'll be one hundred percent." He smiles. "And when Scott Hall comes back... my Television Championship will still be waiting." Walking Riot Missy Hyatt Tony Schiavone introduces Missy Hyatt alongside Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags. Missy laughs. "You can stop calling me Missy Hyatt." "I'm the Walking Riot." She points toward the camera. "The Steiners embarrassed me." "They laughed at me." "They thought they didn't need me." Her smile disappears. "So now... I'm going to destroy them." "I'm going to ruin their legacy." "I'm going to take their championships." "And when we're finished... we're going to leave them buried in the rubble." The Nasty Boys begin laughing. Knobbs simply says... "We're just getting started." Marty Jannetty vs. Rick Spencer Jannetty looks sharp in another singles victory, using his speed before finishing Spencer with a top-rope fist drop. Ross says Marty continues building momentum. Haku & Mr. Hughes vs. Mike Starr & Tommy Davis Haku and Hughes dominate from start to finish, picking up another decisive tag team victory. Sting Interview Tony Schiavone welcomes the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Sting thanks the fans for standing behind him at the Great American Bash. "I've got a lot of enemies." "I've got a target on my back." "But that's okay." "They can line up... one by one... and I'll beat every single one of them." Before Sting can leave... Alexandra York walks onto the stage. Standing behind her are Genichiro Tenryu, Hiro Hase, Masahiro Chono, and Mr. Saito. York smiles. "The York International Computer has completed its analysis." "It has determined... that Genichiro Tenryu is the rightful Number One Contender for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship." She pauses. "At Clash of the Champions... York International will unify the International Championship... with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship." Tenryu steps forward. He never says a word. He simply stares at Sting. The World Champion doesn't back away. Neither man blinks. Ross says the next great challenge for Sting has officially arrived. Lex Luger vs. Kama Kama comes out aggressively, looking to avenge his recent losses to Luger. He never gets the opportunity. Luger overpowers him before locking in the Human Torture Rack. Kama submits almost immediately. Luger refuses to release the hold. Officials race into the ring. Even after repeated warnings... Luger still won't let go. Finally he throws Kama to the mat. Ross says something has changed in Lex Luger. Main Event Dustin Rhodes, Ron Simmons & Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude, Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko The new United States Champion receives a huge ovation as he enters alongside Dustin Rhodes and Ron Simmons. The six men deliver an outstanding twelve-minute main event, with both sides refusing to give an inch. Steamboat repeatedly goes after Arn, while Simmons and Rude renew their physical exchanges from earlier in the summer. Late in the match Dustin catches Rude with a bulldog and looks poised to pick up the victory. Paul E Dangerously has other ideas. As the referee is distracted, Paul blasts Dustin across the back with his cellular phone. Arn immediately pulls Dustin to his feet. DDT. One... Two... Three. The Dangerous Alliance wins. Rick Rude grabs a microphone before leaving the ring. "The Dangerous Alliance... is back." Ross disagrees. "No, Bobby... they're surviving." As the show fades to black, Rick Rude raises his fist while Ricky Steamboat stands in the ring holding the United States Championship high above his head. The battle lines have been redrawn in WCW.

The Great American Bash Live on Pay-Per-View Baltimore, Maryland Sunday, July 27, 1991 The screen fades in to a packed Baltimore Arena as fireworks explode throughout the building. Thousands of fans are on their feet while Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome everyone to The Great American Bash. Ross immediately addresses what fans witnessed only moments ago on WCW Main Event. "Ladies and gentlemen, before we talk about this tremendous night of championship wrestling, we've got to address what happened just moments ago. Hiro Hase and Masahiro Chono of York International viciously attacked Owen Hart's left arm. Medical personnel rushed Owen from the arena, and right now we do not know the full extent of the injury." Heenan shakes his head. "I've seen a lot of things in this business, Ross, but York International made a statement tonight. Whether you agree with how they did it or not... they got everybody's attention." Ross says emotions are running high throughout the locker room, especially for Davey Boy Smith, who still has to face Genichiro Tenryu later tonight. "But folks, we've got eleven huge matches ahead of us. Every championship is on the line, old rivalries come to an end, and the future of World Championship Wrestling may very well be decided here tonight." No Disqualification Match The Rock 'N' Roll Express vs. The Fabulous Freebirds The opening contest wastes no time living up to its stipulation as all four men begin throwing punches before the opening bell has even finished echoing through the arena. The fight spills to the floor almost immediately, with Robert Gibson driving Jimmy Garvin into the guardrail while Ricky Morton chases Michael Hayes through the crowd. The referee quickly realizes there is no controlling the action and simply lets the fight continue. Chairs are used. The ring bell is nearly introduced. Morton crashes through the timekeeper's table after Garvin catches him from behind, while Gibson battles Hayes around ringside. The action returns to the ring where Gibson appears to have Hayes beaten after a running clothesline, but Garvin breaks up the count at the last possible second. The Freebirds finally gain control after a blindside attack from behind. Hayes and Garvin isolate Gibson, repeatedly driving him into the mat before Hayes delivers one final devastating DDT in the center of the ring. One... Two... Three. The Fabulous Freebirds defeat The Rock 'N' Roll Express. The Freebirds don't celebrate for long. They simply stand over the fallen Gibson for a moment before quietly leaving the ring, knowing they've finally ended one of WCW's most bitter rivalries. Backstage Interview Tony Schiavone is standing by with Davey Boy Smith. Davey looks noticeably more serious than usual. Tony asks about Owen Hart. Davey takes a deep breath. "Owen's at the hospital. Jim Neidhart went with him. Right now... it doesn't look good." He pauses. "They didn't just try to beat Owen. They tried to end his career." Tony asks how he can possibly focus on Genichiro Tenryu after everything that's happened. Davey slowly looks into the camera. "My mind's been on Owen ever since they carried him out. But that's exactly why I'm going to the ring tonight. York International wanted to send me a message. Now... I'm sending one back." Davey walks away as Ross says tonight's match with Tenryu has suddenly become far more personal than anyone could have imagined. Davey Boy Smith vs. Genichiro Tenryu w/ Alexandra York The atmosphere changes the moment Davey Boy Smith walks to the ring. Still shaken by Owen Hart's injury earlier in the evening, Davey enters with far more on his mind than just Genichiro Tenryu. The match is a physical showcase from the opening bell, with both men trading stiff forearms, heavy chops, and powerful suplexes. Davey uses his strength to control stretches of the match, while Tenryu counters with punishing kicks that slowly wear the Bulldog down. The crowd comes alive when Davey mounts his comeback, dropping Tenryu with a delayed vertical suplex before hoisting him onto his shoulders for the Running Powerslam. For just a split second... he hesitates. It's all Tenryu needs. The International Champion slips off Davey's shoulders, hits the ropes, and blasts him with a crushing running kick to the face. Davey drops like a sack of potatoes. One... Two... Three. Genichiro Tenryu defeats Davey Boy Smith. As Tenryu celebrates, Mr. Saito, Hiro Hase, and Masahiro Chono join Alexandra York at ringside. The five stand together as Jim Ross says York International has become one of the most dangerous forces in professional wrestling. The camera lingers on the group while Davey slowly pulls himself to his feet, refusing to take his eyes off Tenryu. Ron Simmons vs. Butch Reed w/ Teddy Long Former partners collide in one of the night's most personal matches. Butch Reed gets the early advantage, using his experience and power to frustrate Simmons while Teddy Long shouts instructions from ringside. Reed keeps Simmons grounded through much of the opening minutes, but the momentum slowly begins to shift. Simmons fights back with a series of clotheslines before overwhelming Reed with pure power. The crowd comes alive as Simmons drops Reed with a massive powerslam, then plants him with a thunderous Spinebuster in the center of the ring. One... Two... Three. Ron Simmons defeats Butch Reed. Teddy Long immediately rushes into the ring, screaming at Simmons after the bell. Bad idea. Simmons grabs Teddy and drives him into the mat with another devastating Spinebuster. The Baltimore crowd erupts as Simmons stands tall, pointing toward the fallen Reed before leaving the ring to a standing ovation. Eric Bischoff is standing by with Paul E Dangerously and the entire Dangerous Alliance. Standing behind Paul are Ravishing Rick Rude, Scott Hall, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, and Curt Hennig, each wearing a confident smile. Eric says tonight may be the biggest night in the history of the Dangerous Alliance. Paul grins. "It isn't may, Eric... it is." He turns to his men. Rick Rude steps forward. "Dustin Rhodes has spent months chasing me. Tonight he finally catches me... and he's going to wish he hadn't." Scott Hall smirks. "Flyin Brian's had a nice little run. Tonight... the Television Title comes home." Arn Anderson adjusts the United States Tag Team Championship on his shoulder. "Steamboat and Muta are two of the best wrestlers in the world. Tonight they'll find out what happens when they step into the ring with the Enforcers." Larry Zbyszko smiles. "Everybody talks about championships. We keep winning them." Finally, Curt Hennig steps forward with the United States Championship draped over his shoulder. "Sting... you're the World Champion. Tonight I prove I'm the better wrestler." Paul E steps back in front of the group. "For months you've watched us collect championship after championship. Tonight... we collect the biggest one of all." He points directly into the camera. "Tonight... World Championship Wrestling changes forever." His smile grows wider. "Tonight... we take out the franchise." He pauses. "Tonight... the Dangerous Alliance takes CONTROL!" The camera lingers on the five men standing shoulder to shoulder before cutting back to ringside. The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Diamond Dallas Page Diamond Dallas Page enters with more confidence than ever, refusing to back down despite the eerie mind games that have haunted him for weeks. As soon as the bell rings, however, it becomes clear that confidence alone may not be enough. Page uses his quickness early, landing several right hands and even staggering Undertaker with a dropkick. The Deadman barely reacts. He slowly rises back to his feet and begins stalking Page around the ring. Undertaker takes complete control, battering DDP with heavy clotheslines and crushing shots in the corner before planting him with a thunderous Chokeslam. Moments later, he delivers the Tombstone Piledriver in the center of the ring. One... Two... Three. The Undertaker defeats Diamond Dallas Page. Paul Bearer immediately retrieves the body bag from ringside. Undertaker silently lifts Page from the mat and places him inside before slowly pulling the zipper closed. The Baltimore crowd watches in stunned silence as Bearer raises the urn high above his head. Jim Ross says The Undertaker has left another victim in his wake, while Bobby Heenan can only shake his head. "I don't know who's going to stop that man." Undertaker never looks back as he and Paul Bearer disappear into the darkness. WCW Television Championship Flyin Brian (c) vs. Scott Hall w/ Paul E Dangerously The pace is electric from the opening bell as Flyin Brian uses his speed to frustrate the much larger Scott Hall. Brian repeatedly slips out of Hall's grasp, connecting with dropkicks and aerial offense while Hall slows the match whenever he gets the opportunity, punishing the Television Champion with heavy right hands and powerful slams. The action spills outside the ring late in the contest as Hall's frustration begins boiling over. Brian dives off the apron, but Hall catches him in midair and drives him back-first into the ring post. Hall isn't finished. He hauls Brian back inside, lifts him for the Razor's Edge, and drives him over the top rope. Brian crashes violently onto the arena floor as the referee immediately calls for the bell. Flyin Brian retains the WCW Television Championship by disqualification. Hall ignores the official and tries to continue the assault before referees and security swarm the ring. Paul E Dangerously applauds from ringside while Hall shoves officials aside, trying to get back to Brian. Jim Ross says this is a side of Scott Hall the fans have never seen before. Bobby Heenan simply smiles. "I think the Dangerous Alliance just found another gear." The Return of Big Van Vader The lights inside the Baltimore Arena dim. A low rumble fills the building as smoke begins pouring from the entranceway. Then... he appears. Wearing an enormous, smoke-filled battle helmet unlike anything the fans have ever seen, Big Van Vader slowly walks onto the stage. Steam erupts from the mask with every step as the Baltimore crowd looks on in stunned silence. Jim Ross can barely contain himself. "My God... look at the size of this man!" Standing across the ring is Paul Diamond, who suddenly doesn't look quite so confident. The bell rings. It isn't a match. It's destruction. Vader crushes Diamond with clubbing forearms before tossing him across the ring with unbelievable ease. A thunderous splash nearly caves Diamond's chest in, but Vader refuses to cover him. Instead, he drags Diamond back to his feet. One devastating Powerbomb. Then another. Finally, Vader climbs to the second rope and delivers a crushing Vader Bomb. One... Two... Three. Big Van Vader wins. The Baltimore crowd sits in stunned silence as Vader stands over the broken Paul Diamond. Jim Ross says WCW has just witnessed the arrival of one of the most frightening athletes ever to step inside a wrestling ring. Bobby Heenan quietly replies... "I hope nobody's standing in his way." Tony Schiavone is standing by with Lex Luger. Luger says six months ago Sid Vicious tried to end his career. He points to his lower back. "Everybody keeps asking about this. It's healed." He smiles. "I'm stronger than I've ever been. I'm faster. I'm tougher. And tonight... Sid Vicious is going up in the Human Torture Rack." Luger looks directly into the camera. "And once I get him there... I'm never letting go." WCW United States Tag Team Championship Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko (c) w/ Paul E Dangerously vs. Ricky Steamboat & The Great Muta This quickly turns into one of the best wrestling matches of the evening. Arn and Larry constantly cut the ring in half, using quick tags and veteran teamwork to frustrate the challengers. Whenever Steamboat or Muta gain momentum, one of the champions finds a way to slow things down. The match reaches another level after the hot tag to Muta. He explodes into the ring with lightning-fast kicks, a handspring elbow, and a picture-perfect dropkick that sends Larry crashing to the floor. Steamboat follows with a Flying Crossbody on Arn for a very close two-count. Late in the match, Steamboat catches Arn with a beautiful powerslam and heads to the top rope. Paul E sees it coming. As the referee is distracted by Larry and Muta battling on the floor, Paul E climbs onto the apron and blasts Steamboat across the head with his cellular phone. Steamboat crashes to the mat. Paul E laughs... until he turns around. The Great Muta is standing right in front of him. Before Paul can react... GREEN MIST! The poisonous mist explodes directly into Paul E Dangerously's face. Paul screams in pain, stumbling blindly around ringside while desperately trying to wipe the mist from his eyes. The Baltimore crowd erupts. Inside the ring, the referee has completely lost control. Arn and Larry attack Muta. Steamboat joins the fight. All four men spill to the floor, trading punches as the official reaches the count of ten. Double Count-Out. Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko retain the WCW United States Tag Team Championship. The champions quickly retreat with their belts, but nobody is looking at them. Everyone's attention is on Paul E Dangerously, still blinded by Muta's green mist as he stumbles around ringside in absolute panic. Jim Ross laughs for the first time all night. "I don't know if Paul E can see... but I guarantee you he didn't see THAT coming!" WCW World Tag Team Championship Steiner Brothers (c) vs. Road Warriors The atmosphere is electric as arguably the two greatest tag teams in professional wrestling collide. What follows is eleven minutes of pure power wrestling, with neither team willing to give an inch. Clotheslines, suplexes and shoulder blocks echo throughout the Baltimore Arena as all four men punish one another. Missy Hyatt repeatedly tries inserting herself into the match, shouting instructions from ringside and looking for any opportunity to distract the challengers. Late in the contest she walks toward Hawk, smiling as she attempts to get his attention. Hawk simply grins... and plants a kiss square on her lips. The crowd explodes. Missy stands frozen in shock. Rick Steiner isn't nearly as amused. He charges across the ring and drills Hawk with a thunderous belly-to-back suplex. Missy, completely embarrassed, storms toward the dressing room as the match continues without her. The Road Warriors regain control moments later. Animal hoists Scott Steiner onto his shoulders while Hawk climbs to the top rope looking for the Doomsday Device. Rick explodes across the ring. He leaps onto the turnbuckles and crotches Hawk before he can launch. Scott begins hammering away at Animal from his shoulders before spinning around and launching himself into a spectacular standing Frankensteiner. Animal crashes hard to the canvas. Rick intercepts Hawk before he can make the save. One... Two... Three. The Steiner Brothers retain the WCW World Tag Team Championship. The Baltimore crowd rises to its feet in appreciation after an incredible championship match. The Road Warriors slowly regroup outside the ring. They aren't smiling. They aren't celebrating. They simply stare back at the Steiners, clearly frustrated that they came so close to reclaiming the championship. The Steiners raise the belts high above their heads as Jim Ross calls it one of the greatest tag team matches WCW has ever presented. Tony Schiavone is standing by with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting. Sting says this has been one of the biggest nights in WCW history, but it all comes down to one match. He says the Dangerous Alliance has spent months trying to control WCW, collecting championships and stacking the deck in their favor. "I know Paul E's going to get involved. I know Arn, Larry, Hall and Rude are going to be watching. That's what they do." Sting pauses. "But tonight... I'm not asking for a handicap match." He looks directly into the camera. "Curt Hennig... I challenge you to beat me right in the middle of this ring. One-on-one. Because I don't think you can do it." Sting hands the microphone back to Tony and heads toward the entrance. Ravishing Rick Rude w/ Paul E Dangerously vs. Dustin Rhodes Dustin Rhodes continues proving he belongs among WCW's rising stars, matching Rick Rude stride for stride in a physical twelve-minute battle. Rude controls much of the early action with his veteran instincts, but Dustin refuses to stay down, repeatedly fighting his way back into the match. Midway through the contest, Paul E Dangerously limps to ringside, still covered in green mist from his encounter with The Great Muta earlier in the night. The Baltimore crowd erupts, laughing as Paul desperately tries to wipe the green stain from his face while shouting instructions to Rude. Late in the match Dustin catches Rude with a series of right hands and follows with a powerslam that nearly ends it. The crowd comes alive as Dustin hooks Rude for a bulldog. Rude shoves him forward. Dustin crashes face-first into the turnbuckle. Before he can recover, Rude grabs him from behind. Rude Awakening. One... Two... Three. Ravishing Rick Rude defeats Dustin Rhodes. Rude slowly rises, looking down at the fallen Dustin before spitting on him in disgust. Without another word, Rude steps through the ropes and leaves with Paul E Dangerously, who is still wearing the remnants of Muta's green mist across his face and shirt. Tony Schiavone is standing on the interview stage beneath the giant WCW sign with the Steiner Brothers. Resting on a pedestal beside them are the brand new WCW World Tag Team Championship belts, redesigned in beautiful gold and silver. Tony congratulates Rick and Scott on successfully retaining the World Tag Team Championship before presenting each man with one of the new title belts. The Baltimore crowd applauds as the Steiners proudly hold the championships high above their heads. Suddenly... Missy Hyatt walks onto the stage. She smiles and congratulates the champions before reaching for one of the new belts. Rick gently pulls it away. Scott shakes his head. Missy looks confused. "I've been with you every step of the way. I helped you win those championships." Rick smiles. "You've been around... but you haven't helped." Scott nods. "You're fun to look at... but we don't need you to win." Missy's expression changes instantly. "I had a feeling... you two would try something like this." She slowly backs away. "I was the reason you won those championships... and I'll be the reason you lose them." Suddenly— BRIAN KNOBBS! JERRY SAGS! THE NASTY BOYS! The Baltimore Arena erupts. The Nasty Boys charge onto the stage and blindside the Steiners. Knobbs and Sags hammer Rick with forearms before throwing him completely off the interview platform. Rick crashes onto the concrete floor below as officials rush toward him. Scott tries fighting both men alone but is quickly overwhelmed. The Nasty Boys plant him with a devastating Spike Piledriver right on the steel interview platform before stomping away relentlessly. Tony Schiavone scrambles out of the way as referees, security, and wrestlers pour onto the stage to break it up. The Nasty Boys finally back away. Missy slowly walks between them. She wraps one arm around Knobbs... and the other around Sags. Jim Ross can hardly believe what he's seeing. "My God... this was the plan all along!" The camera pulls back as officials attend to both Steiner Brothers—Rick lying on the concrete below the stage while Scott struggles to move atop the interview platform. The Nasty Boys, with Missy Hyatt proudly at their side, stand beneath the giant WCW sign as the Baltimore crowd showers them with boos. Lex Luger vs. Sid Vicious w/ Harley Race The Baltimore crowd comes unglued as two of the most powerful men in professional wrestling finally collide. From the opening bell, neither man gives an inch. Luger rocks Sid with a series of clotheslines, while Sid answers with crushing boots and clubbing forearms that nearly take Luger off his feet. Every exchange feels like a collision between two freight trains. Sid targets Luger's surgically repaired back whenever he gets the opportunity, repeatedly driving knees into the spine and forcing Luger to fight through obvious pain. Luger refuses to stay down, battling back with pure determination and repeatedly frustrating Sid by surviving everything the big man throws at him. The momentum swings wildly throughout the seventeen-minute war. Sid plants Luger with one Powerbomb, but somehow Luger kicks out. Moments later, Luger explodes with a comeback, dropping Sid with a flying forearm before finally locking in the Human Torture Rack. The Baltimore Arena erupts. For the first time in months... Sid Vicious is trapped. He screams in pain as Luger marches around the ring, refusing to let go. Harley Race knows his man is beaten. With the referee focused on Sid, Harley climbs onto the apron and blasts Luger across the face with the ring bell. The shot opens a nasty cut above Luger's eye. Sid crashes to the mat. Luger follows. Harley quickly shoves Sid across the fallen Luger before dropping back to the floor. One... Two... Three. Sid Vicious defeats Lex Luger. The bell rings, but Sid isn't satisfied. He grabs Luger by the hair, looking for another Powerbomb as officials rush toward the ring. Harley Race immediately steps between them. "That's enough!" Sid reluctantly backs away, never taking his eyes off Luger. Medical personnel check on Luger as blood pours from the cut above his eye, already beginning to swell shut. Slowly... Luger pulls himself to his feet. He never smiles. He never celebrates. He simply stands in the center of the ring, blood running down his face, one eye already blackening and swelling, staring straight at Sid Vicious. Jim Ross says Lex Luger may have lost the match... "But I'll tell you what, Bobby... this war is far from over." Eric Bischoff stands at the interview platform and says before tonight's main event, WCW would like to introduce three of its newest stars. First out is Marcus Alexander Bagwell. The young rookie receives a warm ovation as he waves to the Baltimore crowd. Bischoff calls Bagwell one of the brightest young athletes to ever sign with WCW. Next comes Johnny B. Badd. Badd enters full of charisma, shadow boxing and smiling at the fans. The crowd responds politely, though many seem unsure exactly what to make of the flashy newcomer. Finally... Electric guitars blast through the arena. Smoke fills the entranceway. VAN HAMMER steps onto the stage. The Baltimore crowd erupts. Hammer throws both arms into the air as fans cheer loudly while Bischoff smiles at the overwhelming reaction. He welcomes all three men to World Championship Wrestling and says the future of the company has never looked brighter. The three newcomers stand together on the stage for a moment before the cameras head back to Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan. Ross smiles. "Ladies and gentlemen, the future of WCW is arriving before our very eyes." Heenan nods. "And now... it's time for the present." Ross looks into the camera. "The WCW World Heavyweight Championship is next!" Jesse Ventura leaves the broadcast position and enters the ring to a tremendous ovation. "The Body" welcomes everyone to the main event of The Great American Bash before introducing the challenger. Paul E Dangerously appears first, still wearing the remnants of The Great Muta's green mist across his face and shirt. Behind him walks Curt Hennig, proudly carrying the WCW United States Championship. The challenger receives a tremendous reaction as he slowly makes his way to the ring, never taking his eyes off the championship that matters most. Ventura then introduces the champion. The arena goes dark. Moments later... STING! The Baltimore Arena erupts. Sting steps through the curtain wearing white tights and red, white and blue face paint honoring the American flag. He slaps hands all the way to the ring before climbing onto the turnbuckles and holding the WCW World Heavyweight Championship high above his head. Jim Ross calls it one of the most unforgettable entrances of Sting's career. The stage is set. WCW World Heavyweight Championship Sting (c) vs. Curt Hennig w/ Paul E Dangerously The two biggest stars in WCW waste no time proving why they're in the main event. The opening minutes are fast and technical before the action spills to the outside. Sting catches Hennig on the entrance ramp and drives him down with a thunderous bodyslam. Ross immediately points out that Hennig landed awkwardly on his lower back. From that point on, Hennig is clearly hurting. He continues fighting through the pain, using every shortcut and every veteran instinct he possesses to stay in the match, but every time he gains momentum, his back slows him down. Sting senses it and repeatedly attacks the injury with suplexes and powerful slams. Late in the match Hennig somehow hooks Sting for the Perfect Plex. The crowd gasps. Before he can bridge... Sting shifts his weight, slips free, and drives Hennig into the mat with a crushing Brainbuster. Hennig staggers to his feet. Sting heads to the top rope. High Cross Body! One... Two... Three! Sting retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship! The Baltimore Arena explodes. Red, white and blue streamers fill the ring. Balloons begin falling from the ceiling. Fans are on their feet celebrating as Sting raises the championship high above his head. Hennig remains on the mat, clutching his back. Paul E kneels beside him. Hennig slowly shakes his head. "No..." Paul ignores him. He grabs the United States Championship and walks directly to Jesse Ventura. The arena falls silent. Paul hands Ventura the championship belt. Ventura studies it for a moment before asking for the microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen... as Executive Committee representative... I have been informed that Paul E Dangerously and Curt Hennig are officially exercising the United States Champion's guaranteed World Championship opportunity." He looks toward Sting. "The match... will take place... RIGHT NOW!" The crowd erupts. Sting looks completely stunned. Before he can react— Hennig charges from behind. A running knee sends Sting crashing shoulder-first into the ring post. The referee immediately calls for the bell. WCW World Heavyweight Championship Immediate Championship Challenge Curt Hennig throws everything he has left at Sting, but it's obvious the first match has taken almost everything out of him. Every time he bends over, he grabs at his lower back. Paul E shouts instructions from ringside, desperately trying to keep his man alive. Still... Hennig refuses to quit. He nearly steals the championship after another Perfect Plex attempt, but Sting barely kicks out. Paul E finally jumps onto the apron looking to interfere. Sting blasts him with a right hand. Paul tumbles to the floor. Sting follows him outside. Paul tries escaping up the entrance ramp. Sting catches him. Spins him around. Bodyslam on the stage! The Baltimore crowd roars. Then... Ross notices something. Hennig is somehow pulling himself back to his feet inside the ring. Sting turns. Looks down the ramp. Then takes off running. He sprints the entire length of the entranceway, dives over the top rope, and crashes into Hennig with a spectacular High Cross Body. The arena comes unglued. Instead of covering him... Sting grabs both legs. Jim Ross shouts that no hold in professional wrestling puts more pressure on an injured lower back than the Scorpion Deathlock. Sting turns him over. Scorpion Deathlock! Hennig screams in agony. He fights. He reaches. He tries to crawl. His back finally gives out. Curt Hennig taps. Sting defeats Curt Hennig for a second time and remains the undisputed WCW World Heavyweight Champion! The crowd erupts once more as streamers and balloons still litter the ring from the first victory. Sting collapses to one knee, exhausted, before slowly raising the WCW Championship above his head. Medical personnel immediately surround Curt Hennig, carefully helping him from the ring. Even Bobby Heenan quietly leaves the broadcast position to check on Hennig as officials assist the former United States Champion toward the dressing room. Jim Ross and Jesse Ventura stand together at the announce desk, taking one final look around the celebrating Baltimore Arena. Ross says the Great American Bash has changed the landscape of WCW forever. Ventura nods. "We've seen new stars arrive... rivalries explode... and a champion prove why he's the very best in the world." The final image shows Sting standing atop the turnbuckles, WCW World Heavyweight Championship held high as the Baltimore crowd roars its approval.

WCW Main Event Live from Baltimore, Maryland Sunday, July 27, 1991 The cameras come on live inside the Baltimore Arena as fans continue filing into their seats for the Great American Bash. The excitement inside the building is already building as Tony Schiavone welcomes viewers to a special live edition of WCW Main Event. Jesse Ventura joins him at the broadcast position, reminding everyone that in just a short while he'll be joining Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan at ringside for the Great American Bash. Ventura says tonight isn't just another pay-per-view. "It's one of the biggest nights in WCW history." Tony agrees before reminding fans they'll see one final look at several of tomorrow's stars before the Great American Bash gets underway. Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs. Rick Cannon Bagwell continues to impress with his combination of athleticism and energy. Cannon tries to slow the youngster down, but Bagwell repeatedly answers with crisp dropkicks and amateur wrestling before finishing the match with a beautiful sunset flip. Tony says Bagwell's future looks incredibly bright. Ventura agrees. "The kid's got something." Johnny B. Badd vs. Steve Foster Johnny B. Badd brings plenty of personality to Baltimore, playing to the crowd before showing off surprisingly quick hands inside the ring. Foster lands a few shots early before Badd turns the momentum around with a series of left hands and finishes the contest with the Left-Handed K.O. Punch. Afterward Badd flashes his trademark smile. "The Bash starts now!" Van Hammer vs. Mike Thorpe Electric guitars blast throughout the arena as Van Hammer makes his Baltimore debut. Hammer overpowers Thorpe from the opening bell, finishing the contest with a devastating flying clothesline. Tony says WCW's newest arrivals continue making an immediate impact. El Gigante vs. Tony Burton The massive El Gigante completely dominates Burton, tossing him around the ring before ending the match with a towering Chokeslam. Ventura simply shakes his head. "I don't know who wants any part of that." Tony reminds viewers that the Great American Bash is now less than an hour away. Every championship. Every rivalry. One explosive night. But before the pay-per-view begins, one more important match remains. Main Event Hiro Hase & Masahiro Chono vs. Owen Hart & Jim Neidhart The atmosphere noticeably changes as all four men enter the ring. Tony reminds everyone that Davey Boy Smith will face Genichiro Tenryu later tonight at the Great American Bash, making this much more than just another tag team match. The match quickly develops into an outstanding wrestling contest. Owen dazzles with his speed while Hase matches him hold for hold. Chono repeatedly cuts the ring in half, forcing Neidhart to make the save more than once. The veteran power of Neidhart keeps his team alive, but York International continues working with incredible precision. Late in the match, Mr. Saito and Genichiro Tenryu quietly make their way to ringside alongside Alexandra York. The distraction is brief. It's all Chono and Hase need. Tony's voice becomes more urgent with every attack. "Owen's got to get out of there!" York International calmly backs away. Alexandra York smiles. Her plan has worked perfectly. Medical personnel rush into the ring and immediately begin examining Owen. Davey kneels beside him, visibly concerned. The trainers carefully place Owen's arm into a temporary splint before helping him onto a stretcher. Tony Schiavone can only shake his head. "My God... I think they've broken Owen Hart's arm." Ventura, unusually serious, looks toward the ring. "That wasn't about winning. That was about taking someone out." Davey walks beside the stretcher all the way to the entrance before stopping. He slowly turns back toward the ring. Across the arena... Genichiro Tenryu stands beside Alexandra York. The two men lock eyes. Neither says a word. Tony looks into the camera. "Fans... The Great American Bash is next." The camera pulls back to reveal the Baltimore Arena filling to capacity as the anticipation reaches a fever pitch. Fade directly into the opening video for... The Great American Bash.

World Championship Wrestling Weekend of July 26, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to the final edition of World Championship Wrestling before tomorrow night's Great American Bash. Ross says the waiting is finally over. Months of rivalries, championship pursuits, and personal grudges all come to a head in Baltimore. Heenan confidently predicts the Dangerous Alliance will leave the Bash draped in championship gold. Johnny B. Badd makes his long-awaited WCW debut to open the broadcast against veteran Steve Lawson. Badd immediately wins over the crowd with his charisma and quick hands, dancing around the ring before putting Lawson away with the Left-Handed K.O. Punch. Tony Schiavone congratulates him afterward, and Badd flashes a grin into the camera. "They might notice the looks first... ...but they'll remember these fists." Tony Schiavone attempts to interview York after the match. York smiles. "Last week I introduced the world to York International. This week... you've witnessed the future." She says Hase and Chono are one of the finest tag teams in professional wrestling, while Tenryu remains the greatest international competitor in the world. A video package introduces Marcus Alexander Bagwell, showcasing his athletic background and relentless work ethic before Bagwell makes his WCW debut against Rick Carson. Bagwell impresses with his speed and raw athleticism before finishing Carson with a beautiful dropkick and sunset flip combination. Ross says WCW may have found one of its brightest young prospects. Butch Reed follows with a convincing victory over Tom Bennett, overpowering him before ending the contest with the Shoulderbreaker. Eric Bischoff catches up with Teddy Long and Reed afterward. Teddy says tomorrow isn't about settling old scores. It's about proving Doom was always built around Butch Reed. Reed looks directly into the camera. "Tomorrow... Ron Simmons finds out." Arn Anderson attempts to distract the referee late in the match, but Ricky Steamboat cuts him off before he can interfere. Moments later Muta lands the Moonsault and scores a huge clean victory over one-half of the United States Tag Team Champions. Steamboat and Muta hold the championship belts high as Arn and Larry back away, promising tomorrow night will be a different story. Smoke fills the screen as another promotional video introduces Van Hammer. Electric guitars roar in the background while Hammer promises to bring a new attitude to WCW. The Undertaker destroys Jeff Morris in under two minutes, finishing him with the Tombstone Piledriver. After the bell, Paul Bearer orders a body bag into the ring. Undertaker silently places Morris inside before slowly zipping the bag shut. Bearer smiles. "Diamond Dallas Page... Tomorrow... your soul belongs to The Undertaker." Lex Luger and Meng battle in one of Luger's toughest television matches in weeks. Meng refuses to back down, forcing Luger to fight from underneath before finally mounting his comeback. A series of clotheslines lead directly into the Human Torture Rack, and Meng has no choice but to submit. As Luger celebrates, the giant screen comes to life. Sid Vicious appears beside Harley Race. Sid says only four words. "Tomorrow... You're finished, Lex." The screen goes dark. Ross says tomorrow's collision may shake WCW to its foundation. The Road Warriors and the Steiner Brothers reluctantly join forces against the State Patrol and the Orient Express in an entertaining eight-man tag team match. Hawk plants Kato with the Doomsday Device before Rick Steiner scores the pinfall. After the match Missy Hyatt enters the ring applauding both teams. She walks over and pats Hawk on the chest while congratulating the Road Warriors. Hawk calmly grabs her wrist. "Don't." Rick Steiner immediately steps between them. Animal quickly pulls Hawk away before things escalate. The Road Warriors leave without another word. Missy forces a smile while the Steiners watch them head toward the dressing room. Another chilling video package airs. Inside a dark warehouse, a massive figure destroys opponent after opponent. The words appear across the screen. BIG VAN VADER TOMORROW NIGHT Backstage, Paul E Dangerously is once again seen walking toward Jesse Ventura's office. This time Curt Hennig walks beside him with the United States Championship draped over his shoulder. Paul knocks. The door opens. Both men quietly step inside. The cameras remain outside as the door closes. Ross wonders what business they could possibly have with the Executive Committee less than twenty-four hours before the Great American Bash. The main event pits Sting, Dustin Rhodes and Flyin Brian against Ravishing Rick Rude, Scott Hall and Arn Anderson. All six men wrestle with the intensity of a pay-per-view match, knowing tomorrow night every rivalry reaches its climax. Hall and Pillman rekindle their growing rivalry while Dustin repeatedly targets Rude. Sting and Arn close the contest, with Sting countering a Spinebuster attempt into a quick sunset flip. One. Two. Three. Sting pins Arn Anderson. The bell barely finishes ringing before chaos erupts. Hall attacks Pillman. Rude jumps Dustin from behind. Arn and Sting begin trading punches as Curt Hennig charges to the ring. The World Champion turns and immediately meets Hennig in the middle of the ring. Neither man backs down. Officials pour into the ring, desperately trying to keep the two apart as the crowd roars. Jim Ross shouts that tomorrow night there will be nowhere left to run and nowhere left to hide. The final image shows Sting and Curt Hennig reaching over the officials, each trying to get one last shot at the other as World Championship Wrestling fades to black.

Ross reminds everyone that next Sunday night the Great American Bash comes to Baltimore, Maryland, with every major championship on the line. Heenan says all the talking is almost over. In one week, careers will change forever. Ross also promises fans another edition of the Great American Bash Control Center, plus Sting, Lex Luger, the Dangerous Alliance, and what Alexandra York has called "the next evolution of York International." Davey Boy Smith vs. Brian Andrews Davey Boy Smith receives a tremendous ovation as he powers through another impressive victory. Andrews shows flashes of offense early, but Davey quickly takes over with a series of clotheslines before planting him with the Running Powerslam for the three-count. Tony Schiavone enters the ring for an interview. Before Davey can answer the first question, Alexandra York's music interrupts. York slowly walks onto the stage with Genichiro Tenryu beside her. York says everyone has spent weeks wondering what York International really is. Tonight... they get their answer. She introduces the first man. "The protector of York International..." Mr. Saito walks onto the stage. Ross immediately recognizes the legendary powerhouse as one of the toughest men ever to come out of Japan. York smiles. "But champions aren't enough." "The future belongs to the next generation." Out walks Hiro Hase. The crowd buzzes. York pauses one final time. "And finally... the future of Japanese wrestling." Masahiro Chono. The arena erupts. York now stands with Tenryu, Saito, Hase and Chono. Without warning, all four men storm the ring. Davey Boy fights desperately but the numbers are overwhelming. Tenryu lands stiff strikes. He's beaten every challenge placed before him. Now Curt Hennig stands between him and the future. "I respect Curt Hennig. But respect isn't going to save him. At the Great American Bash... I'm walking out the WCW World Heavyweight Champion." The camera cuts one final time to the closed door of Jesse Ventura's office. Ross says whatever happened inside that room could have enormous implications for the Great American Bash.

Really solid reset show after Night of Legends. I liked how you used Armstrong and Dutch to address the fallout while naturally setting up the next three major events. Dutch’s hypocrisy was especially entertaining, and Ron Wright complaining about everything felt completely in character. Bundy came across as a monster, Murdoch and Koloff kept their issue with TNT moving, and IRS stealing the main event maintained his momentum. A good, focused show during a transitional period for the roster.

Night One feels perfectly designed for Puerto Rico, with Carlos Colon challenging Kokina providing a huge hometown main event. The card has excellent variety, especially Cobra–Barr, the Iron Man tag match, and the taped-fist fight between Garvin and Slater. Mascaras and Canek challenging the arrogant Heavenly Bodies also feels special. This should have an incredible crowd and a completely different atmosphere from Night Two. Night Two feels like a strong conclusion to WrestleRock. Hogan and Morrow has a ton of history behind it and absolutely belongs inside a steel cage, while Warrior vs. Kerry feels like a genuine special attraction. Muraco and Rich should be a great street fight, and the rest of the card has plenty of variety. Every match has a clear reason for happening, which makes this feel like a major event rather than just a collection of matches.

World Championship Wrestling Weekend of July 11, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to another edition of World Championship Wrestling. Ross reminds viewers that the Great American Bash is now only two weeks away and promises another exciting night of action as the road to Baltimore continues. Heenan says the Dangerous Alliance keeps collecting championships while everyone else keeps making promises. Ross also tells fans they'll hear from Sting, Lex Luger, Alexandra York, and Dustin Rhodes later tonight, while the Undertaker and the Steiner Brothers will both be in action. The Rock 'N' Roll Express vs. Rick Davis & Steve Collins The Rock 'N' Roll Express open the show with a fast-paced victory, looking more focused than they have in weeks. Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson keep constant pressure on their opponents before Morton finishes things with a Flying Crossbody. As the celebration begins, Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin appear on the interview platform with Tony Schiavone. Hayes slowly applauds. He says Ricky Morton finally remembered who his real partner was. Garvin laughs and says that reunion won't matter in Baltimore. Hayes promises that at the Great American Bash there will be no rules, no excuses, and when it's over, the Rock 'N' Roll Express will wish they had never challenged the Fabulous Freebirds. Missy Hyatt joins them in the ring, applauding wildly and raising both championship belts high above their heads. The Road Warriors vs. The State Patrol The Road Warriors answer immediately. Ross says next week's Fourth of July edition of the program will be one of the biggest television broadcasts of the year as Jesse Ventura unveils the complete Great American Bash card. Heenan says that's next week. Tonight belongs to the Dangerous Alliance, who have another opportunity to leave carrying championship gold. Jesse Ventura wastes little time joining the broadcast. Standing in the center of the ring, he confirms that next week every Great American Bash match will become official. Then he adds one more announcement. Next week, Sting will defend the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against one member of the Dangerous Alliance. Ventura points toward Paul E Dangerously and his men, saying it doesn't matter which member is selected because the challenger will be determined by random draw at the end of tonight's program. Paul E appears on the stage wearing a confident smile. He says Ventura can spin all the drums he wants because every man standing beside him is capable of becoming the next WCW World Heavyweight Champion. The Great Muta opens the wrestling action against Mike Sullivan. Muta controls the match from the opening bell, chopping Sullivan down before finishing him with the Moonsault for another decisive victory. Tony Schiavone catches up with Ricky Steamboat afterward. Steamboat says Rick Rude has spent weeks trying to embarrass people and prove he's the toughest man in WCW. At the Great American Bash, Muta is going to return the favor. Schiavone turns toward Muta for a response, but Muta simply stares into the camera without saying a word. Tony Schiavone then welcomes the Steiner Brothers and Missy Hyatt. Rick says Hawk gave them good advice after Clash. He told them to go back and watch the tape, and that's exactly what they did. Scott says they saw everything, including Missy getting involved when nobody asked her to. Rick tells Missy he appreciates the support, but if the Steiners are going to be champions, they want to do it themselves. He then looks directly into the camera and says the Road Warriors were right. If Hawk hadn't been accidentally struck during the match, they honestly don't know how things would have turned out. Scott says they're making this simple. Whenever the Road Warriors want another title match, all they have to do is sign the contract. The Road Warriors make their way onto the stage. Animal says that's exactly what they wanted to hear. Hawk says they'll see the Steiner Brothers in Baltimore. Rick and Scott extend their hands. The Road Warriors look at them for a long moment before turning and walking away without accepting. Respect has been restored. Trust hasn't. The camera catches Missy Hyatt watching them leave, applauding politely before her smile fades ever so slightly. Davey Boy Smith makes quick work of Chris Nelson, overpowering him throughout before finishing the match with the Running Powerslam. As Davey celebrates, Alexandra York walks onto the stage beside Genichiro Tenryu. York says her computer continues to prove itself correct. It identified Davey Boy Smith as one of the premier athletes in professional wrestling, which is exactly why Tenryu has accepted his challenge for the Great American Bash. Davey smiles and welcomes the opportunity. Tenryu never says a word. He plants Masters with a thunderous Spinebuster before scoring the pinfall. Eric Bischoff is waiting with Teddy Long and Butch Reed afterward. Teddy says Doom was never built around Ron Simmons. It was built around Butch Reed from day one. Reed says Simmons spent years riding his coattails and now everyone is finally seeing the truth. Simmons walks onto the interview platform, staring directly at Reed. He says Reed can keep talking if he wants. At the Great American Bash, he'll finally have to back every word up. Lex Luger meets Curtis Hughes in a physical contest where Hughes uses his size to keep Luger grounded early. Luger gradually fights his way back into the match before hoisting Hughes into the Human Torture Rack for the submission victory. As Luger celebrates, Sid Vicious steps onto the stage with Harley Race. Neither man says a word. Instead, Harley slowly points toward the entrance. Medical personnel wheel two empty stretchers into view. Harley smiles. "Keep winning, Lex. Sooner or later... you're leaving on one of those." Luger never takes his eyes off Sid as the two continue staring each other down. Diamond Dallas Page picks up another victory, defeating Mark Peterson after using the ropes for extra leverage behind the referee's back. As he leaves the ring, Page flashes a confident grin toward the camera. Heenan says the kid may actually have something. The Undertaker faces Jeff Morris in another dominant performance. Morris throws everything he has at the big man early, but nothing slows him down. A devastating Chokeslam is followed moments later by the Tombstone. Paul Bearer quietly raises the urn and says another soul has been claimed before Undertaker disappears without acknowledging the crowd. Flyin Brian continues building momentum with another successful Television Championship defense, defeating Scott Allen after an exciting showcase that ends with the Flying Cross Body. Ross says every week Brian continues proving he belongs among the elite wrestlers in WCW. Marty Jannetty returns to singles competition against Brian Carr and looks as sharp as ever, using his speed and quickness to keep Carr off balance before putting him away with a top-rope fist drop. Tony Schiavone congratulates Marty after the match. Marty says he's done looking backward. He's here to make a name for himself. Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart meet the Orient Express in an outstanding tag team contest. Owen's speed repeatedly frustrates the Express while Neidhart controls the power exchanges. Late in the match, Owen heads to the top rope looking to finish things. Suddenly Genichiro Tenryu appears from nowhere. With the referee distracted, Tenryu drives a brutal kick into the side of Davey Boy Smith's head on the apron. Owen turns just in time to see the commotion. The distraction is enough. The Orient Express immediately capitalize, catching Owen with a quick roll-up to steal the victory. Davey staggers back to his feet as Tenryu calmly retreats beside Alexandra York. Ross says York International just made this rivalry personal. The main event sees Michael Hayes and Ricky Morton defend the United States Tag Team Championship against Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko. For much of the match, the champions appear to have finally figured things out. Their timing is sharper, the tags are quicker, and Ross even wonders aloud if this unlikely partnership has finally become a legitimate team. Then everything falls apart. One missed tag turns into an argument. Another blind tag creates more confusion. Arn and Larry patiently wait for their opportunity. Late in the match, Morton desperately reaches for the tag after escaping Arn Anderson. Hayes steps into the ring. The crowd rises expecting the save. Instead— DDT. Morton collapses. The arena erupts in shock. Hayes calmly steps aside. Arn drags Morton back to his feet and plants him with a devastating Spinebuster before tagging Larry Zbyszko. One. Two. Three. Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko are the new WCW United States Tag Team Champions. Michael Hayes slowly backs toward the entrance. Jimmy Garvin walks onto the stage. The two men exchange a knowing look. No words. Just a nod. Robert Gibson rushes to the ring to check on Ricky Morton while the Dangerous Alliance celebrate yet another championship. As the broadcast comes to a close, Jesse Ventura returns to the stage holding a lottery drum. He reminds everyone that next week's Fourth of July spectacular will feature a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match between Sting and one member of the Dangerous Alliance. Ventura reaches into the drum. The arena falls silent. He slowly opens the envelope. A smile crosses his face. "Ladies and gentlemen... next week, the challenger for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship..." He pauses. "...Rick Rude." The camera immediately cuts to Sting standing on the entrance stage with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder. Across the arena, Rick Rude slowly smiles. Jim Ross says next week's Fourth of July edition of World Championship Wrestling just became must-see television. Fade to black.

World Championship Wrestling Weekend of June 20, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to World Championship Wrestling as WCW continues its march toward the Great American Bash. Ross says the fallout from Clash of the Champions is still being felt throughout the company and tonight could shape the entire summer. The Steiner Brothers defend the WCW World Tag Team Championship against the Road Warriors in tonight's main event. Lex Luger and Sid Vicious are both in the building. Ron Simmons is looking for Butch Reed. The Dangerous Alliance has promised to address Sting directly. Heenan smiles and says that every week WCW seems to lose a little more control while the Dangerous Alliance gains a little more power. Tony Schiavone is standing by with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting. The crowd immediately rises to its feet. Sting says ever since winning the World Championship, he hasn't had a moment to breathe. Every member of the Dangerous Alliance seems to think they're next in line. Scott Hall wants another shot. Rick Rude wants revenge. Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko want to run WCW. Sting says that's fine because he's spent his whole career fighting uphill battles. If somebody wants a shot at the World Title, all they have to do is ask. The crowd erupts when Paul E Dangerously appears. But he doesn't come alone. Scott Hall walks out first. Then Rick Rude. Then Arn Anderson. Then Larry Zbyszko. Then United States Champion Curt Hennig. The entire Dangerous Alliance slowly surrounds the ring. Ross immediately points out that Sting is hopelessly outnumbered. Heenan calls it good planning. Sting never backs down. Paul E laughs. He says everyone keeps looking at the wrong men. They focus on Hall because he's the biggest. They focus on Rude because he's the loudest. They focus on Arn because he's the smartest. But the future of professional wrestling is standing right beside him. Paul places his hand on Curt Hennig's shoulder. The crowd reacts immediately. Paul says Hennig already holds one championship. At the Great American Bash he plans on holding two. Hennig slowly raises the United States Championship. Then points directly at Sting's World Title. Paul E makes it official. At the Great American Bash... Curt Hennig will challenge Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd explodes. Sting smiles. Hennig smiles back. Neither man takes their eyes off the other. The Dangerous Alliance slowly backs away while Sting remains standing alone in the ring holding the World Title high above his head. Ross says Baltimore just got a whole lot bigger. WCW Television Championship Flyin Brian (c) vs Jimmy Garvin Garvin arrives with Diamond Dallas Page and immediately begins running his mouth. Flyin Brian receives one of the loudest reactions of the evening and looks every bit like the fighting Television Champion. The match gets plenty of time and both men make the most of it. Garvin slows the pace down whenever possible, forcing Pillman into a more methodical contest than he prefers. The veteran continues targeting Brian's neck and shoulders while Heenan repeatedly points out that Jimmy Garvin has forgotten more tricks than most wrestlers ever learn. Brian eventually begins mounting a comeback. A flying headscissors sends Garvin sprawling. A springboard crossbody nearly ends the match. DDP gets involved from ringside long enough to create another opening for Garvin. The finish comes when Garvin attempts to steal the victory with a handful of tights. Brian barely escapes at two. Garvin argues with the referee for a moment too long and that hesitation costs him. Dropkick. Flying Crossbody. One... Two... Three. Flyin Brian retains the Television Championship. Ross says Pillman continues proving that he belongs among WCW's elite while Heenan reluctantly admits the kid keeps finding ways to win. The Undertaker vs Jeff Morris Jeff Morris looks reasonably confident during his entrance. That confidence disappears the second Undertaker steps over the top rope. The Deadman completely overwhelms him. A massive boot rocks Morris early. A chokeslam follows shortly afterward. Then comes the Tombstone. The match is over in under two minutes. Undertaker doesn't celebrate. He doesn't speak. He simply stands over the fallen Morris before turning toward the camera with those cold eyes. Ross says he's beginning to believe Undertaker may be the most dangerous man in professional wrestling. Heenan says he stopped doubting that weeks ago. Tony Schiavone is standing by with Ron Simmons. Simmons says everybody keeps asking him about Doom. The titles are gone. The team is gone. That happens. But what he can't accept is Butch Reed acting like he carried the team. Simmons says he fought for Doom. He bled for Doom. He won championships for Doom. And if Reed has something to say, he should come say it to his face. The crowd erupts when Reed attacks from behind. The two men immediately begin throwing fists. Not wrestling punches. Real punches. Officials and security rush into the scene. Neither man wants to stop. Reed yells that Simmons was always the weak link. Simmons nearly breaks loose from the officials trying to restrain him. Ross says this thing has gone far beyond a tag team breakup. WCW United States Tag Team Championship Michael Hayes & Ricky Morton (c) vs Mark Peterson & Danny Rivers The champions continue to surprise people. Morton and Hayes are beginning to develop genuine chemistry as a team and the crowd is fully behind them. Morton does most of the heavy lifting while Hayes brings his veteran instincts and occasional rule bending to the equation. Peterson and Rivers get more offense than expected and force the champions to work for the victory. The finish comes when Morton catches Rivers with a Flying Body Press. One... Two... Three. The champions retain. After the match Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko appear. Arn says everybody keeps talking about the World Tag Team Championship while these two men are quietly carrying gold of their own. Larry says next week they'll get a very close look at the champions. Ross immediately announces: Next Week Michael Hayes & Ricky Morton vs Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko The crowd responds favorably to that announcement. Davey Boy Smith vs Bob Stone Davey Boy continues looking more and more like a future singles star. Stone tries to use speed and movement early but quickly discovers that Davey is simply too powerful. The Bulldog throws him around the ring with ease and eventually finishes him with a thunderous powerslam. After the match Alexandra York appears. The crowd immediately begins buzzing. Standing beside her is Genichiro Tenryu. York says her computer continues identifying superior athletes throughout WCW and one name repeatedly rises to the top. Davey Boy Smith. York says the numbers suggest Davey may be one of the finest competitors in the entire company. Tenryu slowly steps forward. Davey steps forward. The two men stand face to face. No words. No punches. Just a tense staredown. Ross says he'd pay money to see that fight. Heenan says he has a feeling somebody soon will. Owen Hart & Jim Neidhart vs Steve Bradley & Mike Kelly The newest version of the Hart Foundation continues to gain momentum. Owen dazzles the crowd with his speed while Neidhart brings the brute force. The contrast works perfectly and the pair score an impressive victory after Owen comes off the top rope with a missile dropkick. The celebration doesn't last long. The Orient Express hit the ring from behind. Kato and Tanaka jump both men. The crowd boos loudly. A wild brawl breaks out before officials can restore order. Owen is pointing directly at the Orient Express while Neidhart is trying to fight through security. Looks like a collision course has been set. Lex Luger comes to the ring. The reaction is loud and mixed. Luger says everybody keeps talking about Sid Vicious as though he's some unstoppable force. Luger says he has spent his entire career beating monsters. Sid Vicious doesn't impress him. That statement brings Sid out immediately. The crowd comes alive. Sid slowly walks toward the ring without ever taking his eyes off the former World Champion. Harley Race positions himself between them. Luger doesn't move. Sid doesn't move. The tension is incredible. Sid finally smiles. The crowd erupts. Luger laughs directly in his face. Ross announces that next week Lex Luger will face Curtis Hughes while Sid Vicious will be in attendance. Neither man backs down. Neither man blinks. Eventually Sid takes a step backward and leaves the ring area, but the message has been sent. Main Event WCW World Tag Team Championship The Steiner Brothers (c) vs The Road Warriors The crowd is electric before the opening bell ever rings. Ross calls it a dream match. Heenan says somebody may not survive it. The opening minutes are exactly what everyone hoped for. Scott Steiner and Animal collide like two freight trains. Rick Steiner and Hawk begin throwing fists in the middle of the ring. Nobody gives an inch. The match steadily escalates into a war. Animal catches Scott with a powerslam. Rick answers with a Steinerline. Hawk nearly wins with a flying shoulder block. Scott nearly wins with a Frankensteiner. The crowd is completely invested. Missy Hyatt remains at ringside throughout the contest, cheering louder than anyone in the building. As the match enters its closing stretch, the Road Warriors begin taking control. Animal catches Scott coming off the ropes and drives him into the mat with a massive powerslam. Hawk follows with a crushing clothesline that nearly turns Rick inside out. The crowd senses a title change. Hawk gets the tag. The Road Warriors are rolling. Animal hoists Rick onto his shoulders. The Baltimore crowd rises to its feet. Everybody knows what's coming. The Doomsday Device. Hawk hits the ropes. Missy suddenly jumps onto the apron. The referee immediately turns to deal with her. Animal is yelling. The crowd is yelling. And in the confusion Missy reaches into that oversized purse she's been carrying around for weeks. CRACK! Right across the back of Hawk's head. The arena gasps. Animal never sees it. The referee never sees it. The Steiners don't see it. Hawk stumbles awkwardly. Rick immediately grabs him. Massive belly-to-belly suplex. Scott dives on top. One... Two... Three! The bell rings. The Steiner Brothers retain the WCW World Tag Team Championship. The Road Warriors are furious. Animal is screaming at the referee. Hawk is trying to figure out what happened. The Steiners celebrate but look slightly confused by all the chaos surrounding them. Meanwhile Missy Hyatt stands in the corner smiling. Just for a moment. A satisfied smile. Ross says something doesn't feel right. Heenan says Missy was simply supporting champions. The final image of the night is Missy Hyatt raising the arms of the Steiner Brothers while the Road Warriors stare holes through all three of them from the ring. Something has changed. Fade to black.

This was a really good go-home show because it made WrestleRock feel like a huge event from top to bottom. The celebrity appearances gave it a big-time feel, and the Carlos Colon training video was excellent because it made him look like a hero representing all of Puerto Rico, while Kokina looked like an absolute monster destroying everyone in his path. Hogan and Gerry Morrow remain one of the hottest feuds in the company and the visuals of Morrow celebrating with champagne and Hogan shaking the cage were memorable. Warrior and Kerry Von Erich made their match feel important without needing hatred, and the tag division continues to be one of the strengths of the AWA with several different feuds and stipulations that all feel unique. The returns of Muraco and Matt Borne added some surprises, and the six-man brawl gave fans a taste of the chaos to come at WrestleRock. By the end of the show, there were multiple matches that felt like must-sees, which is exactly what you want heading into a major event.

World Championship Wrestling Weekend of June 13, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to World Championship Wrestling only one night removed from Clash of the Champions. Ross calls it one of the most eventful nights in company history, pointing to the crowning of new World Tag Team Champions, the implosion of Doom, the return of The Great Muta, and the Dangerous Alliance making it clear that Sting is now their primary target. Heenan says Ross forgot one thing—the Dangerous Alliance isn't going away. They're just getting started. Tony Schiavone opens the show standing with the new WCW World Tag Team Champions, Rick and Scott Steiner. Rick says last night was everything they came back for. Scott says they promised everyone they weren't coming back from Japan to wait in line. They came back to become champions. Rick puts over Doom and the Road Warriors, calling both teams among the toughest they have ever stepped into the ring with. Scott says winning the titles means something because of who they beat. Suddenly, The Walking Riot Missy Hyatt steps onto the set. The crowd erupts. The Steiners look surprised. Missy congratulates them and says she knew they could do it. She says everybody in WCW is talking about the Steiner Brothers and they should be. They're the World Tag Team Champions. Then Missy casually places herself between the brothers and begins speaking almost as if she represents them. Before the interview can continue, The Road Warriors walk out. Animal says they didn't lose last night. Hawk says if the Steiners are champions, then they owe the Road Warriors a title match. Missy immediately answers. "Accepted." The Steiners look at one another. Missy smiles. Ross is stunned. Heenan laughs. Next week: The Steiner Brothers vs The Road Warriors for the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Sid Vicious destroys two local competitors in a handicap match. The match lasts only moments. Sid powerbombs the first man. Then the second. Then he powerbombs the first man again. The crowd begins to boo heavily. Harley Race smiles. Sid drags one man back to his feet and delivers another powerbomb. Medical personnel rush toward ringside. Sid shoves them away. The injured wrestlers are eventually rolled onto stretchers and wheeled out of the arena. Jim Ross says the Stretcher Tour has returned. Heenan simply says that's what happens when a man has something to prove. Eric Bischoff catches up with Lex Luger. Luger says he watched everything. He watched Sid try to end careers. He watched him smile while people were wheeled away. He says six months ago he was one of those people. Luger says Sid's tour is eventually going to end. Because sooner or later, he's getting his hands on him. And when he does, Sid won't need a stretcher. He'll need a miracle. Flyin Brian defeats Mike Thorpe in a fast-paced Television Championship showcase. Brian looks sharp and energetic, building momentum after successfully defending the title at Clash. Afterward, Larry Zbyszko appears. Larry says Brian is fortunate. Twice. But every young champion eventually makes one mistake. Larry promises he'll be there when it happens. The Great Muta defeats Carl Adams in his first singles match back in WCW. The crowd is fully behind him, and every kick and chop receives a reaction. Muta wins decisively and celebrates briefly. Tony Schiavone attempts to get a word with Muta and Ricky Steamboat afterward. Steamboat says last night was only the beginning. He says Rick Rude and Arn Anderson made the mistake of creating another enemy. Muta simply smiles. Then slowly runs his thumb across his throat. Curt Hennig defeats Tommy Burke in a confident, polished performance. The United States Champion never appears threatened and keeps complete control throughout. After the match, Hennig says Dustin Rhodes had his opportunity. And he failed. Now it's time for him to go back to being just another kid living off his father's name. Dustin Rhodes defeats Steve Carter in convincing fashion later in the evening. Dustin wrestles with more aggression than usual and looks determined to keep climbing despite his loss at Clash. Tony Schiavone is standing by with Ron Simmons. Simmons says he isn't here to make excuses. The Steiners beat them. The better team won. Then his expression changes. But Butch Reed? That's another matter entirely. Simmons says Reed made mistake after mistake and cost them everything. He says next week, he wants Butch Reed in the ring. Face to face. Ross immediately wonders if Doom are officially finished. Main Event Sting, Ricky Steamboat & Flyin Brian vs Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko & Curt Hennig The main event feels like a continuation of the war that has been brewing for months. Larry and Brian immediately resume their rivalry. Steamboat and Arn pick up right where they left off. But the most interesting moments come when Sting and Curt Hennig finally find themselves in the ring together. The crowd comes alive. The two men exchange holds and counters, and for a brief moment it feels like the next great championship rivalry may already be taking shape. Then everything breaks down. Scott Hall suddenly storms to ringside. He enters the ring. The referee immediately calls for the bell. Disqualification. The Dangerous Alliance begin surrounding the babyfaces. Then Rick Rude slides into the ring. Chaos erupts. Sting and Hall begin brawling. Steamboat goes after Rude. Pillman and Larry spill outside. Bodies are everywhere. Then— Rude catches Sting from behind on the floor. RUDE AWAKENING. The arena gasps. Sting is laid out on the concrete. The Dangerous Alliance slowly back away. Hall stands over the fallen World Champion. Paul E joins him, smiling. Ross is furious. Heenan is ecstatic. The final image of the night is Scott Hall staring down at Sting while the Dangerous Alliance leave together, knowing they have finally drawn first blood in their war against the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS Thursday, June 12, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan welcome fans to Clash of the Champions, calling it one of the most stacked cards in WCW history. Ross says championships, careers, and rivalries will all take major turns tonight, while Heenan argues that by the end of the evening, the Dangerous Alliance may have more power than ever before. International Championship Genichiro Tenryu (c) vs Savio Vega The opening match introduces WCW to Genichiro Tenryu in impressive fashion. Savio Vega is energetic and game, using his speed to briefly frustrate the champion, but the story of the match is Tenryu's aura and physicality. Every chop sounds like a gunshot, and every strike seems to carry extra weight. Savio refuses to quit and even mounts a short comeback, but Tenryu cuts him off with a vicious lariat before finishing him clean. After the match, Alexandra York joins him in the ring. She says York International did not come to WCW to participate. They came to dominate. Tonight is simply the first example of what superior talent and superior intelligence can accomplish. Tenryu raises the International Championship as York looks directly into the camera. Eric Bischoff is standing by with Lex Luger. Luger says for six months he sat at home and replayed one moment over and over again—Sid Vicious powerbombing him through a table and trying to end his career. He says tonight is not about championships. It is about proving to himself that he can still fight and proving to Sid that he failed. Kama is simply standing in the way of something much bigger. Television Championship Flyin Brian (c) vs Larry Zbyszko This is a classic clash of styles. Flyin Brian keeps the pace moving and uses his speed to frustrate Larry throughout the match. Larry continually slows things down, uses veteran tricks, and repeatedly targets Brian's shoulder and neck. Several times it appears Larry is on the verge of stealing the championship, but Brian's athleticism ultimately proves too much. In the closing moments, Brian catches Larry out of position and scores the clean victory. Flyin Brian retains the Television Championship. Larry sits in the corner afterward, frustrated and furious, while Brian celebrates with the title. Tony Schiavone is standing by with Sting. Sting says tonight is exactly what the event is called—a clash of the champion and the number one contender. Scott Hall earned this opportunity. He fought for it. He deserves it. But tonight, he steps into the ring with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Sting says Hall can bring the Dangerous Alliance with him if he wants. He'll bring the championship. And that's all he needs. Lex Luger vs Kama Luger's first match back receives a tremendous reaction. Kama attacks aggressively from the opening bell and targets Luger's back and ribs, trying to exploit any lingering effects of the injury. Luger fights through it. Every punch seems personal. Every clothesline seems to carry six months of frustration. The crowd erupts when Luger finally builds momentum and powers Kama into the Torture Rack. Kama has nowhere to go. He submits. Lex Luger wins. As Luger celebrates, Sid Vicious appears at the entrance. The crowd roars. Luger immediately locks eyes with him. Sid starts forward. Harley Race gets in front of him. The fight almost happens. Almost. Luger points directly at Sid. Sid simply smirks. The issue is far from over. United States Championship Curt Hennig (c) vs Dustin Rhodes Dustin Rhodes wrestles the best match of his young career. He survives everything Hennig throws at him and repeatedly forces the champion to dig deeper than expected. The crowd gradually gets behind him, sensing an upset. Dustin nearly wins after a powerslam. Then again after a sunset flip. Hennig barely survives. Finally, experience wins out. Dustin makes one mistake, and Hennig immediately capitalizes, scoring the pinfall and retaining the United States Championship. After the match, Hennig offers Dustin a sarcastic handshake. Dustin looks at him. Then turns and walks away. The crowd applauds him as he leaves. He lost. But tonight proved he belongs. Eric Bischoff is standing by with the Steiner Brothers. Rick says everybody in WCW keeps talking about Doom and the Road Warriors. Scott says they're tired of hearing it. They didn't come back from Japan to be contenders. They came back to become champions. Rick says tonight isn't just another title match. Tonight is their night. The match itself is excellent. Arn controls the pace, Rude uses every shortcut possible, and Steamboat and Muta provide constant energy and unpredictability. In the closing moments, Steamboat sends Rude to the floor. Arn turns— Mist. Muta rolls him up. One. Two. Three. Muta pins Arn Anderson. The crowd erupts. Steamboat and Muta stand tall together while Paul E looks absolutely furious. Rude pulls Arn from the ring as he stares at Muta. A new rivalry has just been born. WCW World Heavyweight Championship Sting (c) vs Scott Hall This is the biggest match of Scott Hall's career, and he wrestles like it. The Dangerous Alliance accompanies him to ringside and creates constant pressure. Hall controls long stretches of the match and several times appears to be on the verge of an upset. He uses his size and strength effectively and pushes Sting harder than anyone expected. The crowd steadily rallies behind the champion. Sting refuses to stay down. Finally, after surviving everything Hall can throw at him, Sting catches him and scores the victory. Sting retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. As Sting celebrates, the Dangerous Alliance enters the ring. The numbers become obvious. Then— Ricky Steamboat. Muta. Dustin Rhodes. Flyin Brian. All walk onto the stage. No fight breaks out. No words are exchanged. Just a visual. The sides have been drawn. A war is coming. Eric Bischoff catches Paul E Dangerously backstage immediately afterward. Paul is furious. He says tonight is a night the Dangerous Alliance will never forget. The sides have finally been set. Everyone now knows exactly where they stand. Then Paul looks directly into the camera. World Championship Wrestling Weekend of June 6, 1991 Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan open the broadcast by reminding viewers that Clash of the Champions is just days away. Someone willing to fight. Paul E immediately appears with Arn Anderson and Rick Rude. Paul says he's heard the stories. He heard Steamboat was planning on bringing Nikita Koloff, but apparently there may be some visa problems. Arn laughs. Rude laughs. Paul asks the obvious question. "Did anybody answer?" Steamboat smiles. "You'll find out at Clash." And then he walks away. Larry Zbyszko defeats Johnny Ace in one of his better television performances in recent weeks. Ace keeps the pace moving early, but Larry constantly slows the match down and forces him into mistakes. Larry secures the victory and immediately asks for a microphone. He says Flyin Brian has talent, speed, and athletic ability. What he doesn't have is experience. At Clash, Larry says experience wins championships. Eric Bischoff then interviews Flyin Brian. Brian says Larry keeps talking about experience because it's the only advantage he has left. At Clash, Larry will discover he can't slow down somebody he can't catch. Dustin Rhodes defeats Kevin Adams in convincing fashion. Dustin wrestles with intensity throughout, knowing the biggest opportunity of his career is only days away. After the match, Curt Hennig joins Eric Bischoff. Hennig says Dustin has all the talent in the world, but talent isn't enough. He says Dustin spent his entire life benefiting from being Dusty Rhodes' son. At Clash, Dustin steps into the ring without his father beside him. Hennig says that's when reality finally catches up. The Road Warriors cut a pre-taped interview focused entirely on the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Hawk says everybody keeps talking about Doom and the Steiner Brothers while forgetting who made tag team wrestling important in the first place. Animal says the belts are coming home. The Steiner Brothers defeat The State Patrol in dominant fashion. Rick and Scott look explosive from the opening bell, throwing the Patrol around with ease and never letting them establish control. After the match, Tony Schiavone enters the ring to interview the Steiners. Before he can ask a question, Missy Hyatt joins them. The crowd responds immediately. Missy says everybody in WCW wants to talk about Doom. Everybody wants to talk about the Road Warriors. But the smartest people in wrestling already know who the future is. The Steiner Brothers. Rick grins. Scott looks slightly uncomfortable. Missy says that at Clash, the Steiners aren't walking in as contenders. They're walking in as the best tag team in wrestling. The visual gets over exactly what it needs to. Later in the show, Doom appear with Teddy Long. Simmons says they have listened to enough predictions and enough opinions. Reed says the champions are still the champions. Teddy promises that after Clash, everybody will remember exactly who runs the tag division. Alexandra York appears alongside Genichiro Tenryu in a luxury suite overlooking the arena. York says York International did not come to WCW to participate. They came to dominate. She formally announces that at Clash of the Champions, Tenryu will face Savio Vega. York says Vega is simply the first example of what happens when international excellence meets ordinary competition. Tenryu slowly displays the International Championship around his waist while York promises this is only the beginning. The Undertaker defeats Chris Dalton in another eerie showcase. Dalton briefly attempts to use speed and movement, but the moment Undertaker takes control the match is effectively over. A chokeslam is followed by the Tombstone, and the atmosphere changes completely. After the match, Paul Bearer says Jim Neidhart continues to prepare for a wrestling match when he should be preparing for a funeral. Jim Neidhart later joins Tony Schiavone. Anvil says he's heard enough threats and enough ghost stories. He says he's fought monsters before and he'll fight another one at Clash. He promises that Undertaker will find out exactly how hard the Anvil hits. Main Event Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith vs Mr. Hughes & Kama The main event is physical from the opening bell. Hughes uses his size advantage effectively while Kama brings aggression and power. Owen spends much of the match fighting from underneath before finally reaching Davey Boy, who changes the momentum completely. The babyfaces rally and eventually score the victory after a strong closing sequence. The celebration is short-lived. Haku storms to ringside. The numbers begin to shift. Meng appears. Then Sid Vicious steps onto the stage with Harley Race. The crowd erupts. Before anything can happen, Lex Luger's music hits. The reaction is even louder. Luger storms to ringside and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Owen and Davey. Sid immediately starts forward. Harley grabs him. Meng grabs him. Hughes grabs him. The fight almost happens. Almost. Luger and Sid lock eyes as the crowd roars. Ross closes the show by saying that sooner or later these two men are going to collide, and when they do, WCW may never be the same. The final image is Sid Vicious and Lex Luger staring each other down as Clash of the Champions looms just days away.

Doom insist they are the dominant champions. The Road Warriors believe the belts already belong to them. The Steiner Brothers came back from Japan and immediately made it clear they are not waiting in line. So at Clash of the Champions, the WCW World Tag Team Championship will be decided in a Triple Threat match between Doom, The Road Warriors, and The Steiner Brothers. Larry says Brian is exciting and athletic, but championships are not won by enthusiasm. They’re won by experience, discipline, and intelligence. At Clash, Larry says the Television Championship becomes his. Jim Neidhart defeats Mike Masters in a straightforward power showcase, bullying him around the ring and finishing decisively. As Neidhart celebrates, the atmosphere in the building suddenly shifts. The Undertaker appears silently in the aisle with Paul Bearer. Neidhart turns and stares him down, stepping forward and looking him over. Undertaker never reacts. Bearer slowly raises the urn and says some men spend their lives believing they understand power, only to discover too late that they understand nothing at all. Morton wrestles straight and tries repeatedly to establish some sense of trust with Hayes, while Hayes remains impossible to read. Several times it looks like Hayes may simply abandon Morton, only to step back in at the exact right moment. They retain the championships, and afterward Morton extends his hand in a genuine show of trust. Hayes almost accepts. Then slowly backs away with a smirk. Morton looks frustrated. Hayes looks completely amused. Mr. Hughes, Kama, and Meng destroy a trio of local opponents in violent fashion, overwhelming them from the opening bell. Harley Race watches from ringside, clearly pleased with the destruction. Afterward Eric Bischoff interviews Harley and Sid Vicious. Harley says Lex Luger can talk about revenge all he wants, but at Clash he steps into the ring with Kama first. Sid says very little, simply staring into the camera and saying Luger came back for the wrong reason. Tony Schiavone then attempts to get a word with Alexandra York in a luxury suite, only to be physically stopped by Genichiro Tenryu before he can get close. York smiles and says Schiavone is asking the wrong question. The question is not why York International is here. The question is why WCW wasn’t prepared for them. She announces that York International has signed an exclusive agreement with WCW to bring international talent into the company. Not ordinary talent. Superior talent. She says wrestling has entered a new era where intelligence, preparation, and technology are just as valuable as physical power. At Clash of the Champions, Genichiro Tenryu will make his WCW in-ring debut. Tenryu slowly unzips his jacket, revealing the International Championship around his waist. Ross is stunned at the sight of the title while York calmly says Tenryu will defend it against anyone. Rick Rude defeats Danny Cramer in dominant fashion, never giving him much of an opening. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Paul E Dangerously and Rick Rude. Paul says he heard Ricky Steamboat had plans to bring Nikita Koloff as his partner at Clash, but unfortunately he hears there may be some visa complications. Rude smirks at the suggestion. Moments later Steamboat appears, and Schiavone asks if there’s any truth to the rumor. Steamboat simply smiles and says they’ll find out at Clash. The main event sees Sting, Flyin Brian, and Dustin Rhodes take on The Mountie and The Border Patrol in a strong television six-man match. The babyfaces control the energy from the start, with Brian bringing speed, Dustin bringing intensity, and Sting bringing the star power every time he enters. The match is competitive enough to matter, but the result is never seriously in doubt, and the babyfaces pick up the clean victory. Then the Dangerous Alliance appear. Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, Rick Rude, and Paul E slowly make their way toward ringside. The babyfaces stand ready. Then Ricky Steamboat walks out and joins them. Harley’s men will get their shots first. The message is clear. Luger vs Sid is coming. But not yet. The Dangerous Alliance come to the ring in full force. Paul E says everyone in WCW keeps pretending the company belongs to Sting because he holds one championship. Paul reminds everyone his group holds the real power. Curt Hennig holds the United States Championship. Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko are climbing. Rick Rude is still standing after ending Dusty Rhodes. Scott Hall is coming for the World Title. The tension between Morton and Hayes continues to build, and several times Hayes looks like he may finally abandon his partner. Morton never fully trusts him. The Orient Express capitalize on the dysfunction repeatedly, but when the pressure builds, Hayes unexpectedly stays in the fight. Morton and Hayes manage to survive and retain, though the alliance looks shakier than ever. This isn’t over. Flyin Brian joins Sting backstage before the main event, saying Larry Zbyszko has spent enough time lurking around the Television Championship without stepping into the ring. Sting says Scott Hall wants the World Title? Then tonight he can come try and take it. Main Event Sting & Flyin Brian vs Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko This is an excellent main event built around contrast. Sting brings explosive energy, Brian keeps the pace flying, while Arn and Larry slow everything down with veteran control and constant shortcuts. Larry and Brian have strong exchanges throughout, teasing the Television Title issue, while Arn repeatedly works to keep Sting grounded. Late in the match, momentum swings toward the babyfaces. That’s when Scott Hall appears. Hall walks to ringside slowly, creating immediate distraction. Sting takes notice. Arn capitalizes. Chaos follows as the match begins breaking down. Sting and Hall eventually collide at ringside while Brian and Larry continue battling in the ring. The finish comes in the confusion, with no clean resolution as officials rush down trying to restore order. The final image is Scott Hall standing face to face with Sting while Larry Zbyszko points toward Flyin Brian’s Television Championship. Ross closes the show saying WCW isn’t getting calmer.
