1986 Fresh Face Draft WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 1 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar - TRADED TO USWA AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 2 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin - TRADED TO LUTTE Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Round 3 WWF - Low Blow USWA - Kevin Lutte - Edgar AWA - Rain MACW - Fenton Continental - Gene Smokey Mountain - Boon WWC - Dexter Japan is not on the list as any new Japanese talent is his to pick from... however, if Gordi would like to get some full time US Talent as rookies, I am sure we could work those parameters out. The last draft was a dispersal draft and he hasn't been part of the fresh face. As he pointed out, Sasaki and Hase are both rookies and will go directly to JWA. Does that seem best or should we change it?

Yeah, the argument with Gino I know is the cocaine use... would have Vince let that happen in the WWF, especially with the schedule they had. You don't hear of too many others in WWF history dying like that in the 80s. I think what Kevin said is where I am at... when the game was established, it was said that we would keep the dates of wrestlers the same with deaths, retirements, prison, and all other things of that nature and I personally think that is best. I would LOVE to be able to use Gino past his death but in the contest of what we've got, I just don't know if it is the right direction. I understand the alternate reality vibe we have and I love it, but I am of the opinion that keeping these little things close to realism is a good move as they are so few and far between. Are there other instances of elongated absence? Patera and Saito in prison Piper goes to make movie Any others?

Did anyone else catch the first episode? I enjoyed it as a quick shot and Mooney is very humble and almost unknowingly a true staple of this WWF time period. Duggan has a hard time not talking over him in the first episode but things do get calmed down. Duggan has a comment about "hats and sleeves at this level" that had me busting up. Lots of upside with these two if the show doesn't get over produced in my opinion. Worth an hour of your time to check out.

I am going to think this one over long and hard this weekend as I don't have a clear answer. I would love to say that circumstances could be different in this situation but then I would also want to make that case for Gino Hernandez who has an untimely death in February of 86. I would love to hear what others think about this situation please chime in so that we can come up with the best possible plan as if we make it to 1987 Roddy Piper has the same thing so we have to look at any kind of hiatuses prison or what have you in these situations

You have got a lot going on here in the UWF but I am starting to soften on Idol, especially with the Blassie pairing. Going to be fun to see how he handles the big time competition of the company.

The USWA continues to roll tide if you will as the Dingo Warrior is thrust right into the spotlight. I have said it before, as a rookie, he and Sting are valued commodities and it would be interesting to see how they would handle this type of exposure so early into their careers. One thing that is kind of interesting for me is your television and how you have some of the jobber guys working at both Tennessee and Oklahoma, relatively close together in terms of time.

Quick hits from the AWA but the shit keeps going and Bockwinkel is back and Rick Rude with a win over Steamboat was HUGE even with the OMG shenanigans.

WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Brantford, Ontario, Canada – The Civic Centre Sika w/ Gary Hart defeated Victor Rivera Gary Hart: Just like I told you folks before… this group of men is going to dominate all that is professional wrestling. I have got half of the pieces together… in just two weeks, I will introduce the third piece of the puzzle that will help me accomplish everything I want to in this sport and put down everything you people hope and dream about! *COMMERCIAL* Hillbilly Jim vs Ivan Koloff w/ Nikita Koloff -Much of the same from SNME with Hillbilly and Ivan doing some decent old school work to keep the crowd going. Nothing very fun here but Uncle Ivan definitely has some life left in him. The finish sees Ivan throw Hillbilly outside the ring and Nikita with a nasty Russian Sickle to the back of the neck and Hillbilly goes down in a bad way. Nikita tosses him in the ring for Ivan to make the pinfall for the 3-count. Ivan and Kikita work this crowd into a frenzy. *COMMERCIAL* Barry Windham defeated Conquistador #2 Barry Windham: What a ride it has been brother… I have been coast to coast in small town after small town but to see the big city lights that the WWF has to offer, it is truly a dream come true. Now that dream is right here deep in my heart unlike that of the Hart Foundation. Jimmy Hart has got them boys wrapped around his finger and Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, I know that Bobby Fulton and I are nowhere near done with the two of you. When the time is right, we’re coming boys and we are going to tear the house down and give you that very same Hart Attack you have given so many in the past! *COMMERCIAL* EVENT CENTER Mean Gene is in the event center running down the results from the Summer Showdown in Los Angeles while building up to what will be a Royal Brawl in Chicago on the 30th of June. He puts over some of the matches announce so far and talks about a special Main Event Attraction in which King Kong Bundy with Bobby Heenan in his corner will challenge Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship, busted up ribs and all. It will be a happening. Also on the card we will see the Intercontinental Championship on the line against the Crown of Harley Race! One man could walk out with the gold around his waist and on his head. In tag team action, the Champions, the Machines will get to defend their titles against the Hart Foundation with Jimmy Hart. Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams have already stated that their rematch will be on July the 6th at the Sam Houston Coliseum against either the Harts or the Machines. Also, just announced, this match will not be sanctioned by the WWF… but it will be Tito Santana taking on Greg Valentine in a Submission Match inside of a 15-foot high steel cage in Chicago. It is going to be an event that you cannot afford to miss. More matches will be announced in the coming weeks as we get ready for the Royal Brawl! *COMMERCIAL* WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Randy Savage © w/ Elizabeth defeated King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan -A fun match with Savage playing the babyface to a T here. Bundy looks strong but Savage uses his speed and technique to keep control. The finish sees Savage hit a big double axe-handle on Bundy that sends him out of the ring to the floor. Savage then goes up top and hits another double axe off the ropes onto Bundy outside the ring. Savage gets in an get the 10-count for the count out victory. Savage is working the crowd in a big way. He is holding the title high and then he walks up the aisle. This gives Heenan a chance to try and get his hands on Elizabeth, which has got the crowd hot! Savage then comes back and he is yelling at Elizabeth about it. This one is getting crazy…

Kind of off topic, but does anyone have a link to that file from a couple of years ago where Dave answered questions and they put it together into a 5 hour mp3 file? It was fantastic with a good insight into Pride and other topics. Thanks!

WWF Wrestling Challenge Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby The Brain Heenan in studio Matches from Brantford, Ontario, Canada – The Civic Centre -An interesting opening this week with Gorilla and Bobby putting over the action but Gorilla points out how Haku, Barbarian, and even John Studd have all left the Heenan Family. Heenan says that it is the product of doing business. You have got some losses… some guys can’t cut the mustard and need to be shipped up or shipped out. Gorilla wonders if the Brain can find some replacements but Heenan says he has already written up contracts and the world will see just what the Family is all about soon enough. Gorilla then puts over this group that Gary Hart is putting together… as we get to see Kamala in action tonight… Kamala w/ Gary Hart & Friday defeated Bob Bradley Gary Hart: Yeah people you may know the name and may have seen the face but this is Kamala and under my advisement… under my thumb… this man will become more dangerous that every before. I have spoken to Friday… we have got him primed for what will be the greatest showcase of destruction and demolition in all of professional wrestling! FOOTAGE FROM Summer Showdown Dino Bravo vs Jake Roberts -A good opening contest with Jake and Dino doing some decent work here for the crowd. Dino is getting some love from the fans but it is Jake who is getting the most love surprisingly and when he hits the DDT out of nowhere for the victory, the crowd gives him a nice pop. *COMMERCIAL* Billy Jack Haynes defeated Skip Young Billy Jack: Brother it feels good to be here in the WWF. You know I come from the North Woods of Oregon and I have been chopping trees and clearing out land so I can come here to the WWF and chop down the biggest Giants and clear out all the competitors in my way! *COMMERCIAL* EVENT CENTER Mean Gene is in the event center running down the results from the Summer Showdown in Los Angeles while building up to what will be a Royal Brawl in Chicago on the 30th of June. He and Bret get a couple of minutes to shine brighter than anyone has every shined in the WWF for as short of time. It is just a glimpse into what could be. The finish sees Fulton and Hart fighting along with Atlas and Anvil but then Barry Windham out of nowhere hits a bulldog on Brutus Beefcake for the 3-count!

6/9/85 WWF Presents: The Summer Showdown! Los Angeles, CA – Sports Arena Dino Bravo vs Jake Roberts -A good opening contest with Jake and Dino doing some decent work here for the crowd. Dino is getting some love from the fans but it is Jake who is getting the most love surprisingly and when he hits the DDT out of nowhere for the victory, the crowd gives him a nice pop. -We get a nice little build up for the next contest as Bobby Fulton comes out and announces that the Killer Bees couldn’t make it tonight… he was hard pressed to find some real teammates who would like to get their hands on the Hart family… but he found two who were excited… Tony Atlas… and Barry Windham! Bobby Fulton, Tony Atlas, & Barry Windham vs Brutus Beefcake & The Hart Foundation w/ Jimmy Hart -The first big time showcase for Windham and this match is pretty much a showcase for what he has the potential to become. WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Randy Savage © w/ Elizabeth defeated King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan -A fun match with Savage playing the babyface to a T here. Savage then goes up top and hits another double axe off the ropes onto Bundy outside the ring. Savage gets in an get the 10-count for the count out victory. Savage is working the crowd in a big way. Savage then comes back and he is yelling at Elizabeth about it. This one is getting crazy… Hillbilly Jim vs Ivan Koloff w/ Nikita Koloff -Much of the same from SNME with Hillbilly and Ivan doing some decent old school work to keep the crowd going. Tito Santana vs Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart -This one gets a good 18-minutes and they tell this story of pure hatred. Santana will do anything tog get his hands on Valentine and to what cost? Tonight he goes after him with a vengeance and it ends up costing him the contest after Jimmy Hart gets involved and Tito nails him with the megaphone and then Valentine with it. We see officials and agents come down to the ring and hold him back. We even get a Jack Tunney appearance as he berates Santana here before they take him to the back. Inside the ring, Valentine is busted open in a bad way and is gushing. WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Machines vs Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams © -Here we go… this one has been built for quite some time and it truly delivers. These four guys go about 22-minutes with everything on the line. Adams and Hernandez have got everything flowing while the Machines have got some big time power and strength going for them. Hernandez and Adams bump all over the place and show why they hold titles in three different countries. Tonight though, it is all about the Machines as Super and Strong do everything they need. The finish sees Adams go for the big crescent kick but Super grabs his foot and then locks him up under his leg and over his other shoulder for a suplex and Adams lands on his head. Hernandez watches on before Strong comes over and clotheslines him out of the ring while Super makes the cover for the 1…2….3!! WE HAVE NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! Super and Strong have won the titles and really capitalized on all of their momentum here over the past couple of weeks. (Picture Harley Race instead of Bundy…) WWF CHAMPIONSHIP CAGE MATCH Hulk Hogan © vs “King” Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan -This is about as big as a main event gets in the WWF or anywhere for that matter in 1985. The cage is erected ad the men make their entrances to the ring with the crowd going absolutely nuts for Hogan. This one goes 16-minutes with both men bleeding before it is complete. We see Race, a master of the cage match for all intensive purposes outdoes Hogan when it comes move for move but the momentum that Hogan brings is just unparalleled by any who step into the ring. In WWF fashion, the catch match is used to keep Heenan outside of the ring but to make one of the wrestlers escape the cage. It is a big moment with Race looking to get out but Hogan gets up to him and then we see a very basic and nice looking back drop from Hogan on Race off the cage to the mat. Both men then begin the climb… they get up the ropes and to the top of the cage as they continue to punch and claw at one another. Then we see Hogan with a big shot and then he bangs Race’s head off the cage and he goes flying back into the ring and Hogan goes over the top… poses for the crowd… then down to the floor for the victory. -In the post match shenanigans… this is of course being taped… Hogan goes for Heenan who goes back into the ring and we see Hogan with the famous atomic drop that sends Heenan out of the ring. He and Race walk off as Hogan starts to pose and work the crowd… all is good in the world…until… Ivan and Nikita Koloff show up! They walk down the aisle and get into the cage with Hogan who doesn’t see them until they are both in. Then we see the pack of hyenas attack with Ivan grabbing Hogan’s leg and Nikita coming down with some nasty blows. This is a vicious beat down as Ivan goes and locks the cage… inside the ring they have got a bigger Russian chain and they destroy Hogan’s ribs. They wrap the chain around his neck as Fulton, Windham, Tony Atlas, and Dino Bravo all run out to try and get in the cage. they begin to all climb as Hogan is in the ring, bleeding, busted ribs, with the Russian chain around his neck. The fans seem to be getting closer and closer to the ring as there is a lot of security out there. We finally see the babyfaces get in the ring as Ivan and Nikita walk off… heavily escorted by security. What has the Russian Nightmare done to the Hulkster?

WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Hamburg, PA – The Fieldhouse Jim Powers & Paul Roma defeated Los Conquistadors -A fresh young team here with Powers and Roma who have got great bodies and can do some decent work in the ring. They are able to pick up a nice victory here tonight with a double suplex for the three count. Vince and Jesse put over their physic and their potential. *COMMERCIAL* Gary Hart is once again joined by Lord Alfred Hayes as they are now is what they say is deepest, darkest, Africa. They come up on a field of bushes and out of the bushes we see… We see Kamala come out and this time he is joined by Friday his handler. He, Sika, and Link all come together and they are about to rip Lord Alfred apart as he puts this over and we head back to the ring… Sika w/ Gary Hart defeated Terry Daniels -A good showcase for Sika. Gary Hart does an inset putting over Kamala and how he and Sika are only half the contingent… well all four forces combine, the world will not be able to stop Monster’s Inc! *COMMERCIAL* Barry Windham defeated Invader #3 -One of the brightest young stars in Wrestling, Barry Windham debuts here for the WWF and he looks to be in absolutely phenomenal shape. In the ring, he is as smooth as butter and he is able to finish off #3 with a big time bulldog. He works the crowd and appears to be on a big time upswing upon his arrival. *COMMERCIAL* Mean Gene is shown in the arena… Mean Gene: Ladies and gentlemen… tonight we have got a huge event from Los Angeles… and right now I want to welcome in… the WWF Heavyweight Champion… HULK HOGAN! Mean Gene: Welcome in here Hulk Hogan… tonight you take on Harley Race for the WWF Championship while others think that the crown is on the line… but most importantly… respect. Hulk Hogan: Well you got that right dude… you see in front of 15,000 fans tonight in Los Angeles… I am going to crown the King Harley Race! That’s right… consider Me Robin Hood brother and that good for nothing Bobby Heenan is just the jester. Tonight we go to court and you Harley Race will be the one who has to pay brother! Mean Gene: There is a lot of talk of dissention in the Heenan Family… Hulk Hogan: You’ve got that right brother… I have had a couple of people tell me just how the Heenan Family is run and I did exactly what I said I would do and took that big stinky John Studd and got him out of the WWF forever. Next up were the Faces of Fear… my brothers of pain and destruction the Machines took them to places to which they could and will never return. Next up it is the King Harley Race… Race you have been known all through the world but here in the WWF brother… you are going to be another notch on this championship belt. You will be another challenger dude and when it is all said and done… WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA DESTROYS YOU!!! Mean Gene: Wait just a moment Hulkster… I have one more thing to ask… everyone is talking… July the 6th… Saturday Night’s Main Event… Hulk Hogan: That may perhaps be the most important thing… Nikita Koloff… you and your dirty Uncle Ivan… brother you are about to feel the force of Hulkamania stronger than any other person has ever felt it… You see Nikita… you may call it the Summer of Terror brother… but this is going to be the Summer of Hulkamania… it is going to start with Harley Race and reach an all time high with you at Saturday Night’s Main Event. I am going to show you why Hulk Hogan is the true strongest force in the Universe and you may have been hand selected by the Kremlin… but when it comes to the people’s choice… they only have one and it is the Red and White and Blue that runs through these veins! I am coming for you Nikita… I am coming!!! *COMMERCIAL* MAIN EVENT Bobby Fulton vs Jim Neidhart w/ Jimmy & Bret Hart -A good contest with Neidhart showing off some big time power as he works the crowd with Jimmy and Bret at ringside. The match itself works well and we see Fulton really sell for Neidhart who tears him apart but Bobby begins to make the big comeback before Bret and Jimmy get involved. This leads to none other than Barry Windham to come out and try and break up the fight. The finish sees Windham NAIL Jimmy and the Bret Hart with a couple of big rights. The Anvil then turns and yells at him outside the ring before Fulton hits a big dropkick into the turnbuckle and then a roll up for the 1…2…3!! Fulton and Windham celebrate as Jesse and Vince put over this partnership!

They get about 16-minutes with Adams and Hernandez blending so well together. Dino and Tony are a good idea of what could have been but they are just not on the same level here tonight and we see the miscommunication once again lead to a just NASTY crescent kick from Adams on to Atlas for the 3-count as he also had a hand full of tights.
