  1. I'm pretty sure I've put together a loop for Central States, but if you guys could look it over and tell me if I'm missing something out, I'd appreciate it. Monday - First/Third Monday - St. Louis, MO Thursday - Memorial Hall, Kansas City, KS Friday - Lincoln, NE Saturday - Des Moines, IA Also, found my commentators and referees, I think. It's hard to piece things together from KayfabeCommentaries sometimes... Announcers: Bill Kersten, Kevin Wall, Rick Stewart Referees: Sonny Meyers and Bobby Whitlock
  2. Two Names Round Out July Fourth Tournament Independence Day is nearly upon us, and with it comes the much hyped eight man, single elimination tournament to decide the next Missouri Heavyweight Champion! Over the past week Central States Wrestling has been working the phone to bring in the top talent from around the United States, and, indeed, the world, and it is now time to announce the men who will take the last two, much coveted, openings. Despite their recent dalliance, and, indeed, commitment to the 'rival' American Wrestling Alliance, Southwest Championship Wrestling has, over the last few weeks, become one of the closest partners to Central States Wrestling, and it's easy to see why, as the recent shake-up in the world of professional wrestling has allowed the promotions to make a lot of moves that they might otherwise have been unable to achieve. With that in mind, Central States is happy to announce a second entrant from deep in the heart of Texas, as the young EL GRAN APOLLO, on his way to a learning excursion with the World Wrestling Federation, will make a stop in St. Louis to try his hand at earning gold, and some name recognition, to take with him to New York. While we do not know who El Gran Apollo will be facing on the Fourth of July, we do know two men he will not, and that's because DICK THE BRUISER, recently of the World Wrestling Association out of Indianapolis, and a former Missouri Heavyweight Champion in his own right, has recently been in touch with Central States proprietor Bob Giegel, and Da Bruiser has asked for, and received, an opening round match with the massive KING KONG BUNDY! Inflamed by the incendiary remarks made by Bundy, and his spokesman, 'PLAYBOY' GARY HART, at the recent press conference announcing his entry into the tournament, Da Bruiser has called his shot, and will face the 6'4", 458 pound behemoth from Atlantic City, New Jersey on the Fourth of July! The date rapidly approaches, and the rest of the tournament seedings will be announced shortly. Until that time, however, we leave you with a pair of rumors. One, we have it on good authority that NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race WILL be in action at the Kiel Auditorium on Independence Day... against none other than former champion, and top contender... 'NATURE BOY' RIC FLAIR? Nothing is set in stone, but it wouldn't surprise us if the two met once again. Secondly, the Central States Tag Team Champions, 'BULLDOG' BOB BROWN and BUZZ TYLER, are expected to defend those championships as well...but against who?
  3. Also, I just want to say that, thus far, one of the best parts about this project have been the interactions I've had with the people I've made talent deals with, especially when they lead into ideas for little feuds and angles that I wouldn't have thought of. Just from the MHC tournament alone I've spun off three or four ideas with other promotions that are going to be really fun.
  4. Looking harder, there's one guy I feel I need to add for continuity reasons, and another I should add just because I'm Central States. After that, everything is pretty much open, because I feel like I've built a solid upper-card, a solid tag division, and I have some prospective building blocks, particularly with regard to Tony Atlas and Brian Adias, for the future. If I an grab those two guys, and maybe one or two more I have on my short list, I'll definitely feel like I aced the draft.
  5. There are still three guys I want, but I only consider one of them important. Just not important enough to keep me from running H&H Limited.
  6. It is with great regret that Central States acknowledges that, due to agreements and guarantees made to Gary Hart, we must select the honourable Armand Hussein. Edit: We must also acknowledge that we had no idea our phone was British.
  7. Bob Geigel would be happy to remain NWA President.
  8. TWO MORE FOR TOURNAMENT! The Independence Day Tournament to decide the vacant Missouri Heavyweight Championship is nearly complete as two more names have entered the fray, leaving only two open slots in what is shaping up to be one of the most prestigious tournaments in quite some time! From SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING comes a young up and coming talent, whom it was recently announced will be taking an excursion up to New York for more seasoning, but not before he gets an opportunity to put gold around his waist as BOBBY EATON will be in St. Louis on the Fourth of July to compete for the Missouri Heavyweight Championship. However, with all due respect to Mr. Eaton, quite literally the BIGGEST name to throw his hat into the ring is KING KONG BUNDY, who, at a press conference arranged by the massive competitor's new representative, the infamous 'PLAYBOY' GARY HART, announced his intention to leave the Kiel Auditorium with the championship. While tournament draws have not been announced, Bundy and Hart made clear that they do not believe there is a man in the National Wrestling Alliance who would willingly step into the ring with Bundy.
  9. I just saw it. Like I said in the PM, for whatever reason it didn't pop the little notification.
  10. I am very happy that I was able to stick to my strategy and use my run of back-to-back-to-back back-to-back (HA!) picks to build my tag team division.
  11. It seems like you've spoken about talking something on the order of 6 Assassin #2s.
  12. Central States is proud to announce that, with their next draft pick, they ensure that the lineage of the Central States Tag Team Championships will remain unbroken. 'Bulldog' Bob Brown and Buzz Tyler
  13. After thinking on it, I'll take my turn as well.
  14. Shhhh... I'm trying to sneak the second half of H&H late.
  15. I definitely agree with this to a point. I think that some parts of the fanbase can't see the forest because they're so busy analyzing individual trees. Not that there isn't a place for that, but I've seen so many people who seem to stop enjoying wrestling because of it. Star ratings are mostly meaningless to me. I really only care whether I enjoyed a match or not, and the only person who can decide that is me. I'm interested in reading people's thoughts and analysis of things, but that takes a lot more than five snowflakes to get across.
  16. Thanks, I don't want to hold things up more than necessary. Sent.
  17. If El Bourica doesn't make his pick in the next hour or so, I'm going to be going to bed, so I won't be able to pick for six-seven hours or so.
  18. Central States are pleased to announce that agreements have been reached for both Dick Slater and Jim Neidhart to appear on the big July 4th Missouri Heavyweight Championship card. (Not sure if I'm supposed to announce in here, or if doing it in my own thread is sufficient.)
  19. STAMPEDE SENDS JIM 'THE ANVIL' NEIDHART TO JULY 4th TOURNAMENT The announcements are coming in hot and heavy as the greatest competitors from across the globe thrown their names into the mix to become the next Missouri Heavyweight Championship on July 4th! Central States Wresting is proud to announce that an agreement has been made with Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to see one of the strongest men in all of professional wrestling return to his home country and compete for that prestigious title as JIM 'THE ANVIL' NEIDHART will be in St. Louis, Missouri on Independence Day! Along with this announcement, rumors are also beginning to swirl that the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race, will be in action on July 4th, possibly against a top contender! That's not all, however, as we've also received word that a former Missouri Heavyweight Champion is looking to regain that belt, and will be in the Kiel Auditorium on July 4th! More on both of those rumors as we receive them!
  20. Central States is still looking for 1-2 entrants for the July 4th Missouri Heavyweight Championship Tournament. Big names are not needed (read: the second round and finals are already set), but the matches will be shown on the USA Network, so it's good exposure for both the competitor and your territory. Deals for return dates by Central States contracted wrestlers are available, if needed.
  21. I have four guys I *really* want, but I don't think they have as much value to anyone else, then two guys I'd like to get but don't 'need'.
  22. Definitely. I should be able to have a lot of fun with them, and Muhammed especially might just work for what I was thinking of doing with Ladd and Atlas. Might need to find a tag team partner for Tony Atlas.
  23. DICK SLATER TO COMPETE FOR THE MISSOURI HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Central States Wrestling, in conjunction with the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico, is happy to announce that DICK SLATER will be entering the single night, eight man tournament for the vacant Missouri Heavyweight Championship! A former Missouri State Heavyweight Champion in his own right, Slater has seen success everywhere he's been, and adds to an astounding collection of competitors that already includes Nick Bockwinkel and David Von Erich! The Missouri Heavyweight Championship Tournament will be taking place on Independence Day, the Fourth of July, at the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, MO! Tickets available at the box office, and, rest assured, more names and matches WILL be announced!
  24. I'm loosely familiar with them, seen a few matches, but I still kinda want to put someone with them, just not Gary Hart. I dunno, just feels appropriate.
  25. I'm at the point where I'm wondering if I should grab a manager to go with the Zambuie Express, and because they might have more value getting lower guys over than drafting someone with more name cache. Plus it would help build another angle. Decisions, decisions. On a side note, I'm doing a similar 'draft' thing, on another board, mostly to build a TEW scenario, but that one is for every wrestler ever, with created promotions. My Los Angeles promotion, with Freddie Blassie as the 'owner', through four rounds (we don't lose picks for drafting multiple people, but they have to go together, you could get away with Patterson and Stevens there, but probably not Rhodes and Murdoch), is Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, John Cena, and the Guerreros (Chavo (Classic), Hector, and Mando). I think I'm winning >_>
