  1. You thought a 'TNA guy' could conceivably win the Royal Rumble? I applaud your optimism.
  2. Great post on another board: "If Randy Orton is the mystery partner I'm going to take a disgusting protest shit." I think that's pretty much ruled out though. It would be a new low if they pulled that
  3. Castle losing his boys is DEVASTATING! But the segments for this should be gold and Dalton's chase for his boys back will be a great storyline. Dalton & Silas are golden gimmicks in 2015 who compliment each other perfectly. This was my MOTN Found the return of ANX a bit meh and don't like them pinning the Briscoes at all. And I can totally do without whatever they're trying to do with Romantic Touch Moose/Cedric was a pleasant surprise. No as good as the Page/ACH No DQ on the last PPV, but a really fun chaotic match. I've underestimated Moose in the past perhaps. Some overbooking on the show, but the take away from it with the Cole/O'Reilly stuff was fine. The red mask in the tag title match was a bit much though. Not one of my fav ROH supercards of the year though on the whole, like I mentioned, hints of overbooking, plus the crowd didn't sound amazing - no offence to those of you in attendance lol
  4. I weigh under 130lbs and have sticky-out ribs, so I can't exactly relate to Brock Lesnar. Still enjoy watching him and would give him a spin on the game. Peculiar argument.
  5. Who do you think it will be? I haven't got the foggiest idea
  6. Daniel Bryan would be the logical choice if doable. If he just returned at like entry #3, managed to stay in and win it the place would go nuts Most other options sound a bit crap. Maybe if the final two were Ambrose and Reigns, Ambrose wins and the WM main event is a Shield triple threat for the title This one Needs to be a crowd-pleaser if at all possible.
  7. the old metal snobs i used to occasionally socialize with would say "Pantera is real metal?"
  8. He was talking about Kevin Owens coming out during the bad Ryback promo. that whole segment was weird. Owens did as well as he could but I can't figure out why the promo was based on a book Ryback's (and seemingly only Ryback) apparently read rather than y'know, the IC Title. You could cut out all the Big Show, Miz and Cesaro confusion on the past few Raws and actually had a build to this one, but ah well, hope they have some chemistry at least.
  9. Is there ANY chance Taker/Brock 3 could happen in Hell in a Cell and not Mania? I'm praying so. 1) cos there's nothing else I'd care to see in a cell (or at least, they'd only have a couple fortnights to build something I would care to see, which is hardly what Hell in a Cell is all about), 2) cos I wanna see both go in different directions come Mania season, 3) I think it will be really shit if both guys just fuck off for no explained kayfabe reason until god damn March, I don't think the wait will make me wanna see the match MORE
  10. The main event was alright, nothing special. Got to applaud the Raw creative team for making Sting's first match on Raw ever seem like just part of the monotony. They're quite skilled at doing stuff like that
  11. When I were a nipper, you didn't have tag teams with all these trendy names like you do nowadays. In my day, tag teams were just called 'Bob & Phil' or 'Paul & Steve'
  12. Steph and Trips are the most appalling characters right now, better be a bloody good twist coming up. Steph looked so stupid going 'oh I'm so sorry Charlotte' when she should be revelling in that role. 'Twin magic' is obviously overused to shit but thought it would've been a salvageable segment if not for that The only bit I'd really say I properly I enjoyed this week was the Wyatts/Reigns stuff. Who do we think will be the third person? Last week I assumed Orton and I'm pleased that's not the case and really enjoy how they've double-bluffed us there. I'm assuming they wouldn't just drop in another star from Raw in there so our options are: an NXT call-up (can't picture who though unless it would be one who's only done dark matches like Braun), a star returning to the company, or the worryingly likely wildcard; Erick Rowan, but most reports say Rowan should be out for the rest of the year.
  13. Ha! So even you loved it at the time.. rumbled! Cocaine's pretty shit I suppose, but the style of disco that gets me going is generally just danceable soul music. As I'm a tragic nerd, of course most my picks would be described as under the radar, and mostly not the stereotypical 'disco sound' (though I'd still call it one of my fav genres), stuff like this:
  14. To continue to delude myself for a moment, going back to a potential pipebomb with the Divas belt being thrown in the trash... What was the longest Women's Championship reign with the gold belt? Nikki could go on about "you may have beaten me but I'll still be the longest reigning diva's champion" and Charlotte can go "well, actually..." and give the stats for the old one. Would be a decent way to bring about the change that definitely definitely won't happen.
  15. Fuck you, basically. Haha, good old music, people still try and find certainties in that shit - never gonna happen. Disco is brilliant though if you sidestep a bit of the 'We Are Family' and the other stuff that's been played to death. It was a wonderful misunderstood genre with heaps of soul. Can't really picture any disco working in a wrestling context though (ROH's Christopher Street Connection aside, but I'd rather try forget that) even if hyper-masculinity as a concept died the gruesome death it deserves.
  16. An aside about Charlotte, bit (well, very) disappointed at how little they've made of the genetically superior thing. Her being Flair's daughter should be a cozy background thing and having a genetically superior body should be her main shtick, but it's the opposite, not so surprisingly I guess, but it hardly helps net fans get on her side when nepotism is at the back of folk's minds. She can still work babyface as the genetically superior one, snapping the skinny girls like twigs, battling similar-ish body types like Tamina (again, totally un-utilized that she's bigger than the norm), Nia Jax maybe in future. Feel like fans would/could go crazy for her if she was booked to be more brutish and to the point. It shouldn't even clash with the Raw style cos she works shorter matches that way
  17. he's saying she'd keep the title long enough to beat the record, but lose it just minutes later. Then she could win it back at NoC and be a total heel about how she broke the record and is still champ when everyone watched Charlotte beat her on RAW. I think it would be a really clever move. I'm actually not clamoring for Nikki to lose the title just because i think there's a lot of untapped potential there as a heel. If they actually booked her better they could get people really dying for her to lose the title and I think this move would be a step in that direction. I also think Charlotte is the totally wrong choice as a babyface to be the one to beat her. Charlotte is a natural heel and is not even the best woman on her team (let alone compared to Sasha). IMO Charlotte should be like the Jericho to Nikki's HHH. Tease Charlotte taking the title from her permanently, but don't really run with it. Just use her to build up heat for the eventual real challenger to take it from her (IMO it should be Becky who is the best babyface on the main roster). I agree that attempting to generate more heat for Nikki would be a good idea in theory, I just have my doubts she'd live up to it. Sure the Bellas are kinda naturally dislikeable, but it's tough to put my finger on why I don't think they're actually particularly worthy heels. Perhaps it's that they don't WANT to be booed? I can see that very easily, they'd much rather be loved for what they do it seems at times. I see a lot more potential in Alicia Fox in that regard than Nikki or Brie. I will accept it's unlikely the Bellas will fade into irrelevancy though, nor am I necessarily saying they should be, so it's not a bad idea. I disagree that Charlotte isn't the best contender of the faces though. No one at PCB is a particularly good promo and that might have held back this 'revolution' more than most aspects, but Becky is still in a really awkward stage and though I'm a fan, I wouldn't have bought her out of developmental yet. Paige has fought Nikki 60 billion times and her hype is pretty much dry, not to mention her consistently dreadful promos and seemingly declining ring-work (my granddad could throw himself off a ring apron with more purpose than Paige, and he's just had three of his toes amputated). Charlotte is definitely the one, Becky may be the slightly better worker but this just makes 1000x more business sense. I also think with the whole three-team mess, we need to be moving on to the next chapter soon enough and that should involve Sasha as the primary heel. Team BAD was a pure mistake, not having Sasha on her own first of all, but especially introducing them on the same night when they're a third-wheel team and would continue to be for weeks. So the sooner focus starts to shift towards Sasha the better for me, so I would book a pretty simple Charlotte victory at NoC. Either that or some kind of screw then a rematch, but yeah Charlotte should definitely be the next champion.
  18. That's my dream too that Charlotte throws the belt in a exploding trash can, but yeah, wanting them to get rid of the divas name (heck, it's a brand now) is about as unlikely as anything, even though it would have such an effect and feel so appropriate with what they're attempting to put across. Ah well, I guess the best hope is that they change male wrestlers from being 'superstars' and start calling them 'bastards'. With a faux-reality show called Complete Bastards. That way everybody has a negative character trait assigned to them by default. Managers become 'sleazebags', announcers are 'shit-chatters' etc.
  19. Nu metal fit the times well when they weren't doing monstrosity reworks of Austin's theme and Taker coming out to 'Rollin'. Some nu metal deserves all the flack, some gets a bad rep a bit unfairly. Like I'm a dance/electronic/rap/grime kind of person all day long, but no doubt the 'My Way' vid for WM X7 was some top tier presentation (and a great song in itself, if I'm drinking). I'd say around 04/05-ish it got a lot murkier with more post-grunge leaning shit like Alter Bridge and stuff (could even count Fozzy) which doesn't even give off a particularly tough image one way or another. Some of that has remained to today I think, using Orton's theme as a prime example. It's all very well posting the guy from Pantera but who's really presenting rock like that nowadays in terms of modern, relevant bands? Mainstream rock took on a whinier face I think midway through last decade, you can probably blame KoRn for that Another point re electronic themes, there's so many different styles of production out there now that in theory an electronic track can come off as macho as any rock track, I mean a lot of us have probably heard the term 'thugstep' and that's been a great touch to suit B&M and make them stand out in a crowded tag scene. I do believe that if the entrance and character also click, then literally any genre is a good theme, I've always wanted to see somebody come out to a solemn 50's doo-wop track for whatever reason.
  20. Are you saying they'd have Nikki fail at beating AJ's reign which they obviously want to do by this point and then give her another reign starting at NoC so she can try again? Totally understand lacking faith in the WWE women's product but that'd be a bit much even for them. I think it could very conceivably start to pick up a bit now, I expect Nikki to win tonight and gloat and become over-confident so she gets her arse kicked at NoC
  21. I haven't had wrestling training ever, but I've dabbled at Judo and the entry-level kind of stuff is basically learning how to take a bump aka fall. Definitely has helped me at times, everybody should learn it really, it's that basic and helpful
  22. you just made me thankful that not every third wrestler comes out to a DJ Fresh tune or an Olly Murs ballad. that's where WWE would be if it was a UK-based company. I would like to see a drum n bass entrance though, can't think of anyone who ever gave that a go. Also GRIME needs to be capitalized on in some way, find a wrestler who can spit grime bars and put him straight on NXT right now. If it caught on, the marketability potential would be almost as big as it's bombing potential!! - Also worth mentioning Sami Zayn's music. Not something I'd just go on youtube and play but the unique ska-punk sound makes it stand out immediately and exudes personality. That's precisely what you want.
  23. the two reworks of Austin's theme....EWWWIE!!! I don't think this means jack shit today. Ultra masc-guys have a much more negative perception today than a decade or so ago, and most wrestling fans don't exude masculinity from every pore, certainly not me, and I get that we're watching fighters fighting but I think things are balanced enough now that rock shouldn't be the be-all-and-end-all for male wrestlers, possibly shouldn't even be the norm. It's actually a great way to establish immediate character so a guy's not stood there being Mark Jindrak.
  24. Not that I like it as a song, but I'm really appreciative of Blake & Murphy's music for their act, that crazy lighting will give people seizures though....probably also a good thing for the characters. I am basically sick to the teeth of unimaginative rock dirges on Raw though. Orton probably merits a rock song but it's just a godawful pick. Ambrose again probably wants a rock track but just generic after the first couple seconds. Cesaro, boy a guitar and a drum really helped him ey. With the right gimmick and entrance, any genre can work and I'd love for that to be played with a lot more often. I really don't think wrestling still has to give off "we're a masculine product for masculine people' impression anymore, as a female fan I'd like to think we're beyond that, and it just looks stranger and stranger probably the further away you get from the United States
  25. Glad to see someone else point out Orton's utterly revolting theme music. It's very first syllable, or 'pop moment' is whiny mopy shit. Guess it works for the character.
