  1. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CVII – 14th of December 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Debbie Combs versus Rhonda Singh for the WWW Television Championship We kick this week off at bell time, with Linda Dallas taking on Liz Chase. Whilst Linda Dallas has her partner at ringside, Liz Chase has all of her fellow Glamour Girls. The result is a heel contest that involves constant interference and rule-breaking from everyone. The narrative is simple, Liz Chase has numbers on her side but Linda Dallas is the better individual combatant. In the end, a methodical destruction of her opponent’s leg is what seals the deal for the Nasty Girl. Linda Dallas defeats Liz Chase in 12:40 by submission with an Indian deathlock in a Season Match A promotional music video for Wendi Richter then plays before we move on to what should be the interviews. Instead, we have a war between the Nasty Girls and the Glamour Girls at ringside, as officials flood down the ramp and we cut to a commercial break. When we return, we get to see the world champ taking on KC Houston in a Season Match. Since her title isn’t on the line, a still-hurting Medusa Miceli feels able to wrestle this match at a relaxed pace. We get a bit of back-and-forth early on because of this but the idea of competing credibly against the world champion goes to the head of KC Houston and she pays dearly for her overconfidence. Medusa Miceli then proceeds to embarrass her, battering her from pillar to post before ending the match with her signature and a lazy pin. Medusa Miceli defeats KC Houston in 10:21 by pinfall after a German suplex in a Season Match and the NWA World Women’s Championship does not change hands A hype package for the main event then plays us through to the interviews. KC Houston tries to insist that she was “this close” to pinning the world champion and deserves a rematch, but this time with the belt on the line. Medusa Miceli dismisses her opponent and focuses on tonight’s main event, saying that she believes Debbie Combs can go all the way, beat Rhonda Singh tonight and then take the US title from Wendi Richter. Another commercial break then takes us to our third match, another season match, this one pitting Rockin’ Robin against Peggy Lee Leather. Both women have their partners at ringside and proceed to have a very competitive back-and-forth. It seems like it could either way until the Star Girl manages to get her opponent up on the turnbuckle. Rockin’ Robin defeats Peggy Lee Leather in 11:56 by pinfall after a super bulldog in a Season Match An advert for the merchandise catalogue then plays before we head to the interviews. Peggy Lee Leather and Candi Devine allege foul play in the match, rudely batting away the interviewer’s questions. The Star Girls, by contrast, happily opine on the current events within the company. After a commercial break we get to our last season match of the night, with Lady Apache taking on Princess Delta Dawn. Both women have their partners with them and this is yet another even-sided back-and-forth match. Lady Apache regularly goes high and knocks her opponent down with flashy moves, whilst Princess Delta Dawn delivers a barrage of massive throws and strikes. In the end, we get a sneaky trip from Malia Hosaka, leading a prone Lady Apache to have her body crushed by Princess Delta Dawn. Princess Delta Dawn defeats Lady Apache in 13:02 by pinfall after a splash in a Season Match A brief rundown of the season’s leaderboard then plays before we cut to the interviews. Lady Apache complains about interference as she holds her bruised back. Princess Delta Dawn congratulates herself and demands a title match. A commercial break then brings us to our main event. Neither woman bothers with a flashy entrance and we get hard-hitting fighting from the word go. Debbie Combs has the technical edge but Rhonda Singh is able to neutralise this by running her down and wearing her out. After a commercial break, we see the two women become increasingly desperate, lashing out with brutality and risky tactics. The finish sees a nasty spot, with Debbie Combs collapsing to the canvas to trip up a running Rhonda Singh whose neck connects with the top rope. Debbie Combs defeats Rhonda Singh in 27:34 by pinfall after a neckbreaker to retain the WWW Television Championship We end on a shot of a cheering Debbie Combs as the commentators speculate on her ability to beat Wendi Richter.
  2. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CVI – 7th of December 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli & Velvet McIntyre & Babyface Nellie versus Wendi Richter & Linda Dallas & Kat LeRoux for the WWW Trios Championship We start this week off with a recap of the previous week’s events before heading onto to our traditional television title opener. Debbie Combs looks to defend her title from Misty Blue Simmes. With two babyfaces squaring off, we get a nice and technical bout, with grace periods and a lot of back-and-forth, as the women trade pinning manoeuvres. The champ has a few scares but eventually brings things back under control. Debbie Combs defeats Misty Blue Simmes in 14:55 by pinfall with a small package to retain the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event then plays before we head on through to the interviews. Debbie Combs decides to crash her opponent’s interview, giving her props for her performance, proceeding to have a friendly chit-chat with her and her tag team partner. A commercial break then brings us to our first season match of the night. With Luna Vachon taking on Leilani Kai, it isn’t long before the women at ringside break out into faction warfare. The brawling around the ring does ensure that the legal participants in the match can proceed unmolested. Luna Vachon shows that she’s come a long way with a solid defensive style but, in the end, it isn’t enough for the nasty ruthlessness of Leilani Kai. Leilani Kai defeats Luna Vachon in 12:02 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes in a Season Match A promotional music video - covering the whole roster - then plays before we head to what are supposed to be the interviews. Instead, the hallways are clogged with vicious fighting between the Giant Slayers and the Glamour Girls that continues into the commercial break. We then arrive at our second season match, with Jamie West taking on Trudy Adams. This pure babyface contest is a lot less even than the opening match, with Jamie West remaining firmly in control throughout. Trudy Adams gets a few good moves in but she is generally unable to out wrestle her opponent. Jamie West defeats Trudy Adams in 08:39 by pinfall after a lariat in a Season Match A promotional video, showing off a recent charity drive, then brings us through the interviews. Trudy Adams and Goldie Ray speak frankly about the performance and stress their need to redouble their training efforts. The Star Girls give a cheerful interview where they revisit their desire to secure a rematch for the tag titles and end the year as champions. Another commercial break then takes us through to our final season match of the night. With her fellow Glamour Girls at ringside, similarly battered and bruised from their encounter with the Giant Slayers, Judy Martin looks quite nervous to be facing Rhonda Singh. The big woman wastes no time, however, and beats her opposition from pillar to post. Some cheating and interference from her allies keeps Judy Martin in the fight for a while but the finish is a foregone conclusion, once she gets the wind knocked out of her by an almighty splash. Rhonda Singh defeats Judy Martin in 10:44 by pinfall after a splash in a Season Match After another hype package for the main event, we move through to the interviews. The Glamour Girls look like hell and manage to blame the Giant Slayers through the loss. The Monsters bring their tag titles to their interview, which the commentators later suggest may have been a silent answer to the Star Girls, and shower each other with praise. After another commercial break, we arrive at our main event. Before we get to the entrances, however, we’re taken to the back to witness chaotic scenes, in the apparent aftermath of an attack on Medusa Miceli who is being tended to by a medic. When Pat Patterson shows up, Velvet McIntyre accuses Wendi Richter of having hit her partner in the leg with a steel chair, and Babyface Nellie backs her up. Unsure of what to do, he asks Medusa Miceli whether she can compete, saying she can instead choose to push the match back a week. Her partners urge her not to compete but, after a moment’s contemplation, she says she can fight and win. The result is a ferocious battle, with tempers flaring and the faces with revenge on their minds. We get a solid performance from the champions, with the challengers only bailed out of serious danger at various points by well-timed tags in and out. After the commercial break, things take on a more even flavour, as the Nasty Girls battle back, and the initial fire of the babyfaces fades. In the end, it comes down to Wendi Richter and Medusa Miceli (whose partners had largely tried to keep her out of the match), and we get some ferocious fighting before Medusa Miceli tries to seal the deal with her finishing move, only for her knee to buckle. Wendi Richter seizes the opportunity to brutalise the world champion, who is in tears by the time she gives in. Wendi Richter & Linda Dallas & Kat LeRoux defeat Medusa Miceli & Velvet McIntyre & Babyface Nellie in 27:55 when Wendi Richter submits Medusa Miceli with a figure four leg lock to win the WWW Trios Championship We then end on a shot of a demoralised Medusa Miceli being helped to the back, whilst the heels cackle and cheer in the ring.
  3. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CV – “November Spectacular” – 30th of November 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli versus Desiree Petersen for the NWA World Women’s Championship We kick the programme off this week with hellacious violence, as the Monsters take on the Star Girls in a title match that is “no holds barred” in all but name. We get a few high spots, and lots of ringside brawling and crowd interaction, before the heels inevitably begin to gain ground. The Star Girls are defiant to the end but are never even close to securing a pinfall. Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett defeat Rockin’ Robin & Jamie West in 14:11 when Rhonda Singh pins Rockin’ Robin after a splash to retain the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship A brief rundown of the card follows before we head to the interviews. The Star Girls are badly banged up, nursing their wounds, but they try to remain positive and point out that there’s still one more tag title bout scheduled this year. The Monsters gloat and cackle, boasting that they are the most dominant team in all of women’s wrestling. We return for our first of three season matches, with Linda Dallas taking on Vicky Carranza. With both women backed up by their tag team partners, this is a traditional back-and-forth with very little interference. Both competitors get near falls, though the finish is preceded by a solid display of dominance by the victor. Linda Dallas defeats Vicky Carranza in 10:34 by submission with an Indian deathlock in a Season Match A hype match for the US title match then plays before we head to the interviews. Lady Apache speaks for Vicky Carranza and calls out Kat LeRoux for the minor role she played in the match. The Nasty Girls gossip with one another about their fellow wrestlers, and speculate about other matches on the card, outright ignoring the interviewer’s questions. After another commercial break, we return to see twenty women marching to the ring for a battle royal; Ashly Kennedy and Brittany Brown, Candice Pardue, Debbie Combs, the Glamour Girls, Penny Mitchell, KC Houston, the Giant Slayers (except Desiree Petersen), Velvet McIntyre, Mad Maxine, Malia Hosaka and Princess Delta Dawn and Trudy Adams and Goldie Ray. The first half of the match is, predictably, pure chaos. With the heels and faces loosely aligned, there’s a lot of violence but very few eliminations until after the commercial break, when the dam seems to burst and they come thick and fast, several taking nasty falls. Eventually, it comes down to a final four of; Debbie Combs, Leilani Kai, Velvet McIntyre and Princess Delta Dawn. Whilst it briefly looks like it’ll be a two-on-two, Leilani Kai just can’t help herself and turns on Princess Delta Dawn. The three others heave the big woman over the ropes and then break off, heading to separate corners to strategise. Velvet McIntyre seals her own fate by being the first to move, heading straight for Debbie Combs - who the commentators speculate is the bigger threat - leaving her blind to the leader of the Glamour Girls, who takes advantage and sends her tumbling to the floor. It’s then down to Debbie Combs and Leilani Kai, and a bitter back-and-forth ensues. None of the heel’s dirty tricks help her here though, as Debbie Combs dips into her dark side and fires them all right back at her assailant before nailing her with a clothesline. Debbie Combs defeats nineteen other women in 29:04 in an over-the-top-rope elimination battle royal to win the WWW Television Championship A music video, promoting Medusa Miceli then plays, and we head through to the winner’s interview. Debbie Combs says her new title is just the confidence boost she needs to get her momentum back. After another commercial break, we arrive at our second season match. This one is a friendly encounter - almost coming across like a training exercise - between Misty Blue Simmes and Heidi Lee Morgan. The two tag team partners have a bout of chain wrestling before quickening the pace and going for flash falls. In the end, it’s the mentor who picks the victory up. Misty Blue Simmes defeats Heidi Lee Morgan in 07:51 by pinfall with a backslide in a Season Match Another hype package for the US title match then plays before we head to the joint interview. Misty Blue Simmes and Heidi Lee Morgan tease each other before settling into a chit-chat, culminating in a prediction that Lisa Moretti will win her upcoming match. Another commercial break then takes us to an anticipated bout for the US title, between Wendi Richter and Lisa Moretti. The champ makes a show of lamenting her lack of an entrance - owing to the match’s position on the card - but this backfires on her when the challenger storms down the ramp and nails her with a spear. Wendi Richter is then dragged into the ring by her hair and the match begins. Lisa Moretti dominates the first five minutes, refusing to let up. It’s only when she gets greedy and goes for an early pinfall that her momentum is stalled and we get a brawl. This violence lasts through the commercial break and ends with a devastating powerbomb on the outside. Wendi Richter takes too long dragging her prey back into the ring, however, and only manages a two-count. Lisa Moretti is subsequently able to recover but she never regains the advantage and, eventually, succumbs to the raw power of the champion. Wendi Richter defeats Lisa Moretti in 32:04 by pinfall after a powerbomb to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship We get an advert for the merchandise catalogue before heading to the back for the interviews. Lisa Moretti is furious with herself for trying to secure an early win rather than continuing her assault. Wendi Richter, on the other hand, lavishes herself with praise and promises to regain her world title. After another commercial break, we get to our third and final season match of the night, with Babyface Nellie taking on Candi Devine. With Peggy Lee Leather in her corner, Candi Devine manages to catch a break here and there, but otherwise the plays out as a showcase for Babyface Nellie who runs circles around her opponent and delivers her signature move three times in a row to secure a decisive win. Babyface Nellie defeats Candi Devine in 08:42 by pinfall after a running knee drop in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays and we get to our last set of interviews. Candi Devine sputters and struggles to come up with an explanation for her loss, generally becoming indignant and belligerent with the interviewer. Babyface Nellie is pleased with her win but says she still isn’t where she needs to be, and that she’ll have to improve if she wants to put herself back in the main event scene. One last commercial break then takes us to our main event. Desiree Petersen, with her fellow Giant Slayers at ringside cheering her on, can’t avoid looking nervous as she takes on the world champion. Medusa Miceli has a grand entrance and tailor-made costume, white and silver, heading into the match with quiet confidence. We then get a fun, fast-paced and highly technical match but one that sees the champ remain firmly on top throughout. Even a brief altercation with an overeager Selina Majors cannot knock Medusa Miceli off balance and she ends the match with her signature. Medusa Miceli defeats Desiree Petersen in 15:55 by pinfall after a German suplex to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship We end the programme on a shot of a jubilant world champion, shaking hands with her opponent. * P.S. After an awful past few weeks, everything's settling down again so I can get back into the swing of things!
  4. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CIV – 23rd of November 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter versus Babyface Nellie for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We open hot this week, with war raging over the television title, with Lisa Moretti facing Rhonda Singh. The two women brawl in and out of the ring, getting close to a count-out or double DQ finish at various points. During the chaos, the commentators manage to run down the rest of the card before we get to our first commercial break. The second part of the match features both women fading but Lisa Moretti firmly in the driver’s seat. Rhonda Singh is able to throw her weight around and get a few big slams in but she is consistently outwrestled by her opponent. The finish sees her run towards the champ, in a well rehearsed spot, before having her momentum turned against her. Lisa Moretti defeats Rhonda Singh in 23:55 by pinfall after a powerslam to retain the WWW Television Championship A look at the season standings so far, then takes us through to the interviews. Rhonda Singh is banged up and out of breath, but still manages to shout a few insults here and there. Lisa Moretti says she’s ready to challenge for the US title, and predicts that Wendi Richter will still be her opponent after tonight’s main event is said and done. When we return from the following commercial break, we have Kat LeRoux taking on Peggy Lee Leather. With Linda Dallas and Candi Devine in their respective corners, this heel affair is a competition in rule-breaking and dirty tactics from start to finish, at times developing an almost playful tone. In the end, it comes down to the wire, but the Nasty Girls are just a little more well-oiled as a team. Kat LeRoux defeats Peggy Lee Leather in 12:03 by pinfall after a leg drop in a Season Match A promotional music video focused on the tag team division then plays, and we head over to the interviews. Peggy Lee Leather and Candi Devine insist that their opponents only won because of their cheating, struggling to contain their own laughter when called out for their own behaviour. The Nasty Girls insist that they are the backbone of the tag division and simply need the opportunity to prove it in a match for the championship. A commercial then brings us to a tag team bout, with the Star Girls taking on Lady Apache and Vicky Carranza. This match is a strong contrast to the one that came before, with an emphasis on clean technical wrestling. We get a lot of tags in and out and a few high spots but, eventually, the Star Girls kick things into high gear and display a remarkable level of coordination. Rockin’ Robin & Jamie West defeat Lady Apache & Vicky Carranza in 13:37 when Rockin’ Robin pins Vicky Carranza after a bulldog A hype package for the main event then brings us through to the interviews. Lady Apache and Vicky Carranza console themselves before the Star Girls come onto the scene to show that there are no hard feelings. Another commercial then takes us to our main event. We open with familiar scenes, as Babyface Nellie paces nervously up and down the ring waiting for Wendi Richter to be finished with her grand entrance. We subsequently launch into a fierce back-and-forth as the challenger gives it everything she’s got and the champ is caught off-guard. As the match wears on, however, and the champion successfully manages to turn it into a brawl, it becomes more and more one-sided. After the commercial break, things are firmly in Wendi Richter's hands. Babyface Nellie kicks out of a powerbomb, to her credit, but misses each one of her attempts at a running knee drop. In the end, the champ makes sure her last move is decisive. Wendi Richter defeats Babyface Nellie in 28:49 by pinfall after a super powerbomb to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship We end with Wendi Richter talking to the camera, saying she knows Lisa Moretti can’t beat her. She isn’t worried.
  5. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CIII – 16th of November 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Lisa Moretti versus Debbie Combs for the WWW Television Championship With the television title match moved to the main event, we open this week with a brief discussion panel at the commentary desk, going over the card and the action of the past few weeks. Afterwards, we get a heel programme with Penny Mitchell taking on Reggie Bennett. Reggie Bennett has the power advantage but Penny Mitchell fights like an animal, clawing and spitting and stomping. They’re both in a fairly sorry state before we get to the finish but it’s the Monster who kicks things into high gear and brutalises her opponent with her signature move. Reggie Bennett defeats Penny Mitchell in 10:32 by pinfall after a sitout powerbomb in a Season Match After a hype package for the main event, we move onto the interviews. Penny Mitchell rants and raves about interference from Rhonda Singh - although she actually played very little role in the match - before concluding that it’s the fault of her former partners for each “bailing” on her in turn. The Monsters have a more upbeat interview than their usual fare and promise to end the year as the most dominant women in the company. A commercial break then takes us to our second season match. The Giant Slayers are spread all around the ring for this match between Selina Majors and Luna Vachon.Whilst the fight is clean and technical, it is not particularly friendly as both women feel the need to prove their worth to their friends. The contest is fierce and fast-paced, and the momentum swings between the participants regularly. In the end, Selina Majors has no counter for Luna Vachon’s signature move. Luna Vachon defeats Selina Majors in 09:12 by pinfall after a moonsault in a Season Match A music video, promoting all of the company’s incumbent champions then plays, with new photoshoot footage, before we get to the next set of interviews. Luna Vachon and Selina Majors share their interview, along with the rest of the Giant Slayers who praise both women. We get a hug between the two to show that there are no hard feelings. With the rest of the Glamour Girls in her corner, Despina Montagas faces off against Heidi Lee Morgan. With Misty Blue Simmes backing her up, Heidi Lee Morgan has some much needed moral support and is saved from the worst of the Glamour Girls’ interference, however she is not prepared for just how vicious Despina Montagas is willing to be. The result is a fairly one-sided affair as Heidi Lee Morgan gets a few good hits in here and there but struggles under the sustained pressure of a relentless assault from Despina Montagas. Despina Montagas defeats Heidi Lee Morgan in 12:46 by pinfall after a piledriver in a Season Match A music video then serves as a transition to the interviews. Misty Blue Simmes consoles her friend before, politely, suggesting that the company should punish outside interference more harshly. The Glamour Girls, for their part, are beside themselves, cackling with glee, and run down all of the roster’s prominent babyfaces. Another commercial then brings us through to an eight woman tag match with Lady Apache, Vicky Carranza and the Star Girls taking on Brittany Brown, Ashly Kennedy and the Nasty Girls. From the very beginning, this is a fast-paced and fun brawl, with the teams roughly evenly matched. Everyone gets at least a little bit of time to shine and each team gets to pull off a big coordinated tag team manoeuvre. In the end, it could go either way, and is really only decided by who happens to be in the ring when the first signs of tiredness appear. Rockin’ Robin & Jamie West & Lady Apache & Vicky Carranza defeat Linda Dallas & Kat LeRoux & Brittany Brown & Ashly Kennedy in 14:04 when Rockin’ Robin pins Ashly Kennedy after a bulldog Another hype package for the main event then plays before we head to the interviews. The two heel teams almost come to blows and generally blame each other for their defeat. Meanwhile, the babyface teams praise one another and say they’re looking forward to facing each other next week. Another commercial break then brings us to our main event. Whilst both women get a full entrance, they choose to keep it simple and rush down to the ring. This sets the tone for the match, which is fast-paced and all-business, becoming increasingly violent and leaving both women covered in sweat by the time we get through a commercial break. Debbie Combs does not slip back into her old heel ways but she definitely shows off a vicious streak, only matched by Lisa Moretti’s own descent into savagery in order to keep a firm hold on her championship belt. Lisa Moretti defeats Debbie Combs in 25:57 by pinfall after a powerslam to retain the WWW Television Championship We end on a shot of the champion, gasping for breath and she straddles the corner post with her title draped over her shoulder.
  6. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CII – 9th of November 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter versus Winona Little Heart for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We open hot this week, with a war for the vacant television title, raging between Lisa Moretti and Velvet McIntyre. Both women go hell-for-leather here, as the commentators speculate feverishly on their prospects. The violence continues through the commercial break, after which we get some brawling on the outside and a close call that almost ends in a double count out. In the end, try as she might, Velvet McIntyre just can’t seem to put her opponent away. Lisa Moretti, on the other hand, waits for her opportunity to strike and executes a form-perfect finish manoeuvre. Lisa Moretti defeats Velvet McIntyre in 25:49 by pinfall after a powerslam in a Season Match to win the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event, centring on the legacy of the US title, then plays us through to the first set of interviews. A fretful Velvet McIntyre is consoled by her friend, the world champ, and suggests that she simply needs time to process her failure to capture the world title. Lisa Moretti gives an animated near-rant talking about how easily she’ll knock down her competition on the road to a match with Medusa Miceli. A commercial break then takes us to our second match, a fast-paced season match between Lady Apache and Malia Hosaka. With Vicky Carranza and Princess Delta Dawn in their respective partners’ corners, we get plenty of brawling and crowd interaction but the result is more or less inevitable and the match serves as a showcase for Lady Apache. Lady Apache defeats Malia Hosaka in 11:03 by submission with a chicken wing in a Season Match An advertisement for the merchandise catalogue then plays before we head to the interviews. Malia Hosaka and Princess Delta Dawn feed into each other’s aggression and give a joint shouty rant. Lady Apache talks briefly about her prospects of getting back into title contention but admits that she would be apprehensive about facing Lisa Moretti. After another commercial break, we get to our third match of the night, this one sees Rockin’ Robin facing the daunting challenge of taking on Medusa Miceli in a non-title match. The world champion goes easy on her opponent at first, leading to a brief bit of back-and-forth, but eventually she hardens up and brings things to a close. Medusa Miceli defeats Rockin’ Robin in 08:34 by pinfall after a German suplex in a Season Match and the NWA World Women’s Championship does not change hands We get a music video promoting Wendi Richter then plays, and we go to the interviews. The Star Girls talk the world champion up, before discussing the main event and each given a different predicted winner. Medusa Miceli, for her part, remains humble during her interview and implies that Rockin’ Robin stood a chance of beating her. We arrive at our main event, after another commercial break, and Wendi Richter milks her grand entrance, as she typically likes to do, adding to Winona Little Heart’s visible trepidation. The fight starts slowly, with a feeling out process, and we get a decent amount of chain wrestling without any cheap tricks. That changes after the commercial break, however, as the champ becomes fed up with her lack of progress and begins to take liberties. The Giant Slayers, arrayed around the ring, try their best to prevent the worst of the champ’s abuses but they’re unwilling to become too involved or break the rules themselves. The finish comes when an attempt at a victory roll by the challenger is turned seamlessly into the champion’s signature move. Wendi Richter defeats Winona Little Heart in 28:57 by pinfall after a powerbomb to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship We end on a shot of the champion, looking positively bloodthirsty and taunting the crowd.
  7. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. CI – 2nd of November 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli & Velvet McIntyre & Babyface Nellie versus Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett for the WWW Trios Championship We open hot this week, with Leilani Kai taking on Winona Little Heart for the television title. The commentators mention that the champ technically already has the right to challenge for the US title, and is risking that right by defending her belt here tonight. These two women are familiar with one another and it makes for a tense early round, with counters and reversals galore. We get some faction warfare at ringside, naturally, but as we get to the finish it’s obvious that Winona Little Heart is currently in another league than her opponent. Winona Little Heart defeats Leilani Kai in 10:55 by pinfall with a victory roll in a Season Match to retain the WWW Television Championship We then get a brief recap of last week’s events before moving on to the interviews. The Glamour Girls are outraged, as ever, and demand an end to the constant “outside interference” of the Giant Slayers. For their part, the Giant Slayers claim that good things are surely coming their way, and that Winona Little Heart will be the world champion in “no time”, which prompts her to announce, with clear trepidation, that she will be facing Wendi Richter next week A commercial break then brings us through to our second match of the night, with Goldie Ray facing off against Candi Devine. Both wrestlers have their partners at ringside, but Trudy Adams is not prepared for just how devious Peggy Lee Leather is, which sets a tone for the match. At every turn, though she puts up a good fight, Goldie Ray is undermined, interfered with, and peppered with cheap shots. Candi Devine is, frankly, merciless and ends things at her own pace. Candi Devine defeats Goldie Ray in 08:02 by pinfall after a facebuster in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Goldie Ray is cheered up somewhat by Trudy Adams and both women complain about the level of rule-breaking in the match. Candi Devine and Peggy Lee Leather cackle their way through their own interview, and say they’ll help each other get to the top, casting aspersions on their old partners. Another commercial break then takes us to a match between Debbie Combs and Princess Delta Dawn. The narrative here is quite simple, and gets established quickly. Princess Delta Dawn has an advantage in terms of size and strength, and a partner at ringside to help her out but Debbie Combs is far and away the superior wrestler. It takes a while but, eventually, Debbie Combs brings the fight to a conclusion entirely on her own terms and Princess Delta Dawn can only delay the inevitable. Debbie Combs defeats Princess Delta Dawn in 09:23 by pinfall after a neckbreaker in a Season Match After a promotional video, heavily featuring Medusa Miceli and Wendi Richter, we get to the interviews. Princess Delta Dawn has a shouty rant, struggling to explain her loss. By contrast, Debbie Combs is subdued and speculates that she may be stuck in a rut. After another commercial break, we arrive at a match between KC Houston and Mad Maxine. The latter slides easily into the babyface role for the duration, whereas KC Houston throws everything she has at her opponent, including any nasty tactics she can think of. Mad Maxine takes it all in stride and the result is a highly choreographed squash, with big slams and strikes galore. Mad Maxine defeats KC Houston in 11:02 by pinfall after a vertical suplex in a Season Match A music video for Lisa Moretti then plays before we get to the next set of interviews. KC Houston chalks her loss up to her opponent’s experience as a part of the old Monsters faction, whereas Mad Maxine says she believes she is ready for a title opportunity. Another commercial then brings us through to our main event. This is a chaotic brawl from start to finish with only the slightest attention paid to the rules. The first half is a very even back-and-forth but after the commercial break, it begins to swing heavily in favour of the faces. We get something of a showcase for each of the champions, as the heels lose control of the match. Medusa Miceli & Velvet McIntyre & Babyface Nellie defeat Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett in 27:03 when Medusa Miceli pins Reggie Bennett after a German suplex to retain the WWW Trios Championship We end on a shot of the happy champions, with their arms around one another.

Great stuff with Ted DiBiase and Jake Roberts, wild post-match! Nice way to keep the titles separate in the main event! These shows were amazing!
  11. Great to see Tommy Rich being himself in the opener! Loved the write-up for the main event!
  12. Nice bit of heat for the Quebec Coalition! Excited to see who Lawler picks! Busick looks great coming out of that main event, nice finish with a classic attack-and-save!
  13. Wow! Looking forward to this! The main events are epic, but I think I'm most interested in Ivan Koloff and Wahoo McDaniel duking it out in a chain match, that has the potential to be really nasty!
  14. Really looking forward to seeing Harley Race take on Bam Bam Bigelow! Loved the angle with Lanny Poffo, Randy Savage and Elizabeth are always good for these kinds of dramatic angles!
  15. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. C – 26th of October 1987 – “October Spectacular” – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli versus Velvet McIntyre for the NWA World Women’s Championship This week, we open with pyro and lights, as the camera pans around the arena, with everything and everyone suitably dressed for Halloween. The commentators, themselves in dress up, give us a rundown of the card, before we head into the opening match, a gigantic tag team title battle royal. The Star Girls are out first, followed by the Glamour Girls (with Leilani Kai and Judy Martin as the legal participants, then Lady Apache and Vicky Carranza, the Nasty Girls, the Giant Slayers (Desiree Petersen and Luna Vachon), Candi Devine and Peggy Lee Leather in their first proper outing as a tag team, followed by Trudy Adams and Goldie Ray. Receiving the champions’ entrance after that, the Monsters storm down to the ring with murderous scowls on their faces. Each wrestler is dressed up, some going all out with their costumes, and others simply darkening their makeup, and we get plenty of crowd interaction before the contest really gets started. It doesn’t take too long, however, for the match to devolve into pure carnage. With so many women going after one another and alliances constantly shifting and changing, it takes a while before we get to our first elimination. Trudy Adams goes crashing to the floor, after being eliminated by the Nasty Girls, but they get what’s coming to them when an alliance of Goldie Ray and the Star Girls take advantage of their celebration and tip them over. Things slow down after the commercial break, and we get a number of high spots, with dives into both the mass of bodies in the ring and brawling ladies outside. Once the first signs of tiredness appear on our participants, we get a flurry of eliminations, with the Glamour Girls, Goldie Ray, Candi Devine and Peggy Lee Leather and Luna Vachon all taking tumbles to the floor. With the Star Girls alongside Desiree Petersen, Lady Apache and Vicky Carranza, taking on the Monsters, we get a fun back-and-forth, as the big women slowing whittle their opposition down, first Rockin’ Robin, then Vicky Carranza, then Jamie West and we cut to another commercial break. We return for a somewhat traditional tag team contest, with Desiree Petersen and Lady Apache giving it all they’ve got, though technically fighting on different sides. The Monsters prove to be irrepressible, however, and they continue to dominate their opposition. One last hurrah sees the faces eliminate Reggie Bennett but they are immediately caught in headlocks by each of Rhonda Singh’s arms and, trying as they might to escape, slowly fade before being unceremoniously dumped out one at a time. Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett defeat Linda Dallas & Kat LeRoux, Leilani Kai & Judy Martin, Trudy Adams & Goldie Ray, Candi Devine & Peggy Lee Leather, Rockin Robin’ & Jamie West, Lady Apache & Vicky Carranza and Desiree Petersen & Luna Vachon in 49:33 in an over-the-top-rope elimination battle royal to retain the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship A hype package then takes us through to an interview with our winners. The Monsters are sweaty and exhausted but manage to give a pair of shouty and aggressive rants, proclaiming themselves the unassailable mountain of the tag team division. A commercial break then brings us to our first season match of the night, with Susan Starr taking on Liz Chase. With the Giant Slayers in attendance, in various states of wear and tear, the Glamour Girls are prevented from going too far but they still manage to interfere here and there. As the contest develops, however, it is clear that it is a showcase for Susan Starr, who seems desperate to impress her teammates. Susan Starr defeats Liz Chase in 10:41 by pinfall after a flying back elbow in a Season Match A Halloween themed music video, showing off various wrestlers, especially the heels, then plays before we head to the interviews. Liz Chase gives an understated breakdown of her loss, focusing on the technical details and clearly struggling to avoid speaking more angrily, something she leaves to her stable mates, who go ballistic on her behalf. The Giant Slayers join Susan Starr and shower her with praise, and she goes on to wish Winona Little Heart luck in her match against Candice Pardue. We get to that contest after a commercial break, with Candice Pardue taking on the heel role almost immediately, desperate to get a quick win and stop the champ from building any momentum. Winona Little Heart is almost taken entirely off guard by her opponent’s approach, narrowly avoiding an early loss to a rope-assisted pin. Once the champ gets into her element, however, the result is a foregone conclusion and we get a sprint to the finish and a highspot to top it off. Winona Little Heart defeats Candice Pardue in 12:03 by pinfall after a missile dropkick to retain the WWW Television Championship We get Pat Patterson in a vampire costume for a brief rundown of the season so far with the commentators, before moving through to the interviews. Candice Pardue smiles her way through the questions, and says that she thinks the match could’ve gone either way, pointing to her early near fall. Winona Little Heart and the Giant Slayers promote themselves a little but spend most of their time talking enthusiastically about the fans and the company. Another commercial break then takes us to the match for the vacant US title, with Misty Blue Simmes taking on Wendi Richter. These two women are familiar with one another, leading to the beginning of their match being a counter reversal showdown. After the commercial break, however, things get nasty, as Wendi Richter lets her violent nature show with a brutal powerbomb at ringside before dragging Misty Blue Simmes back into the ring by her hair. Later on, Misty Blue Simmes gets a manner of revenge with a headbutt that sends Wendi Richter reeling. As things wind down, and both women look like hell, it seems like it could go either way. Wendi Richter defeats Misty Blue Simmes in 29:02 by pinfall after a powerbomb in a Season Match to win the NWA United States Women’s Championship We get one last hype package for the main event and then head to the interviews, with both women nursing wounds. Misty Blue Simmes is buoyed by Heidi Lee Morgan and manages to compliment her opponent. Wendi Richter says she now has her ticket to a thoroughly deserved world title match. Our main event begins after a commercial break and an elaborate entrance for Medusa Miceli, who has gone all out with a Gorgon themed headdress - which she removes before the bell - and a matching snake themed get-up. By contrast, Velvet McIntyre is wearing tiger print and face paint to match. The match gets started with a hug, rather than a handshake, followed by action that looks closer to a dance than a fight. Both women remain calm, not letting pain or ambition show in their faces as they each try to score pins without the need for devastating moves. After a commercial break, the pair bare their teeth and become more aggressive, though the match remains clean until the end. After failing to put her away twice before, Medusa Miceli takes just one shortcut, but it’s enough. Medusa Miceli defeats Velvet McIntyre in 31:44 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship We then end on a shot of a disappointed Velvet McIntyre, on the verge of tears, being hugged and held up by the champ.
  16. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCIX – 19th of October 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli & Lisa Moretti versus Velvet McIntyre & Debbie Combs We get a recap of last week’s events to kick off today’s programme, with the commentators announcing that Velvet McIntyre has decided to challenge Medusa Miceli for the world title at the end of the month. After that, we go to our opening match, with Princess Delta Dawn hoping to take the television title from Winona Little Heart. We get a fun David and Goliath story here, with Princess Delta Dawn using her size and strength effectively in the early going. Malia Hosaka is unable to interfere in the match, due to the presence of the other Giant Slayers, however, and this means that as the match drags on, it begins to favour the champion. In the end, we get a nice set piece for a finish. Winona Little Heart defeats Princess Delta Dawn in 12:09 by pinfall after a springboard dropkick to retain the WWW Television Championship After a music video promoting the world champion, we head to the interviews. Malia Hosaka and Princess Delta Dawn whine about the match outcome, whereas the Giant Slayers remain fairly respectful, ending their interview with some speculation about next week’s main event. A commercial break then brings us to our first season match, with a supremely nervous Despina Montagas, set to take on Wendi Richter. The dynamic of this contest is very strange, as Wendi Richter almost slips into a babyface role as she is forced to fight against the odds, with the Glamour Girls taking every opportunity to interfere and trip her up. In the end, no amount of dirty tricks can save Despina Montagas and she is planted down with authority for the three-count. Wendi Richter defeats Despina Montagas in 13:44 by pinfall after a powerbomb in a Season Match A brief advert for the merchandise catalogue then plays before we get to the interviews. The Glamour Girls rant and rave, as usual, but eventually concede that Wendi Richter is in a league of her own. For her part, Wendi Richter is quizzed on her thoughts regarding next week’s main event, and she explains that she does not expect the friendship of the champion and the challenger to survive the match. Another commercial break then takes us through to another season match with an odd dynamic, as Ashly Kennedy and Brittany Brown face each in a heel programme. The tag team partners initially struggle to get going, refusing to get too rough with each other. Eventually, however, Brittany Brown cannot resist a foot stomp and things go downhill from there, with back raking and hair pulling galore. Ashly Kennedy gives as good as she gets but never manages to reverse the momentum of the match. Brittany Brown defeats Ashly Kennedy in 08:20 by pinfall after a snapmare in a Season Match After a hype package for the main event, we head off to the interviews. We get a bit of a scene here, for the joint interview, with Brittany Brown congratulating herself but becoming increasingly concerned by her partner’s pout and dirty looks. After another commercial break, we arrive at our third and final season match of the night, with Desiree Petersen taking on Babyface Nellie. Once again, we have all of the Giant Slayers out, though they have nothing to fear from Babyface Nellie and we get a nice clean technical bout. The fighting is fierce and highly competitive but, in the end, Babyface Nellie doesn’t have a good enough answer from Desiree Petersen’s decision to target her legs. Desiree Petersen defeats Babyface Nellie in 12:49 by submission with a Boston crab in a Season Match A promotional video, with coverage of a recent photoshoot and an autograph booth for VIPs, then plays us through to the interviews. The Giant Slayers decide to crash Babyface Nellie’s interview, to compliment and ensure there are no hard feelings. After another commercial break, then, we get to our main event. It takes only a couple of minutes for the narrative of the match to develop, as Medusa Miceli and Velvet McIntyre outright refuse to fight each other, forcing their partners to do the majority of the work. Debbie Combs is happy with this arrangement, relishing the fight, but Lisa Moretti becomes increasingly infuriated with her partner. After the commercial break, the wear and tear on Lisa Moretti and Debbie Combs becomes obvious. The pair practically end up fighting a singles match, which ultimately ends in the favour of the more ruthless of the two. Medusa Miceli & Lisa Moretti defeat Velvet McIntyre & Debbie Combs in 27:34 when Lisa Moretti pins Debbie Combs after a powerslam We then end on a shot all four women, regarding one another with slight unease.
  17. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCVIII – 12th of October 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Velvet McIntyre versus Wendi Richter for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We kick the programme off this week with all-out war. The Giant Slayers and the Glamour Girls are at ringside beating each other senseless. It takes a while for staff to resolve the situation and escort everyone but the legal competitors to the back. That leaves us with our two contenders for the vacant television title, Winona Little Heart and Leilani Kai. We get a brief showing of technical prowess as the women try to out wrestle each other in the early goings of the match. Once Winona Little Heart gains the edge, however, Leilani Kai resorts to dirty tricks and sets the tone going forward. After a commercial break, we fall into a simple pattern; Winona Little Heart will complete a sequence only to be stopped short by back rake, eye poke or foot stomp from Leilani Kai. Leilani Kai almost manages to steal a victory with her feet on the ropes but the referee spots it and the ensuing argument gives Winona Little Heart time to put her finishing sequence together. Winona Little Heart defeats Leilani Kai in 24:55 by pinfall with a victory roll to win the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event then plays before we head to the interviews. The Glamour Girls are outraged, stomping up and down and screaming. Eventually, Leilani Kai calms down enough to speak coherently and she vows to stop “playing by the company’s rules”. The Giant Slayers gush over their new title holder and proclaim themselves unbeatable in a fair fight. Another commercial break then brings us to our first of two season matches, with Ashly Kennedy facing off against Candice Pardue. With her partner in her corner, the heel has an early advantage but our babyface doesn’t take very long at all to descend to her opponent’s level, leading to a quick and dirty brawl with a bit of crowd interaction during a ringside diversion. Candice Pardue defeats Ashly Kennedy in 09:02 by pinfall after a missile dropkick in a Season Match After a video package showing off the company’s latest charity drive, we head to the interviews. Ashly Kennedy and Brittany Brown cry foul and generally pout their way through their interview. Candice Pardue bigs herself up and asks for a championship match off the back of her strong performances. A commercial break then takes us to our next season match, this one pitting Judy Martin against Reggie Bennett. Though the Glamour Girl gets a few solid hits in, this heel programme is primarily a showcase for the power of Reggie Bennett. With Rhonda Singh at ringside to prevent interference, the big woman beats her opponent from pillar to post before heading into the finish. Reggie Bennett defeats Judy Martin in 08:37 by pinfall after a sitout powerbomb in a Season Match Before heading to the interviews, we get a music video promoting Medusa Miceli and her recent victories. Somewhat predictably, instead of settling down for interviews, the Glamour Girls march off to find the Monsters and start backstage brawl, for the camera running behind them. We get lots of chaotic violence before cutting to a commercial break. When we return, Wendi Richter is in the ring pacing impatiently. Velvet McIntyre then makes a grand entrance, accompanied by the world champion. The champ’s initial confidence throws the challenger off and, for the first few minutes at least, this is Velvet McIntyre’s match. Wendi Richter is only able to even things out with an escape to the outside, giving her time to rethink her plan. A technical back-and-forth then takes us through the commercial break, after which things begin to turn to the favour of Wendi Richer. Velvet McIntyre seems exhausted and overwhelmed and leans heavily on her partner for advice, with frequent breaks on the ropes that drive her opponent around the bend. The advice seems to pay off, however, as the finishing sequence sees Velvet McIntyre outsmart Wendi Richter at every turn and capitalise once she’s too angry to concentrate. The challenger kicks out at three and a half but that does her no good at all. Velvet McIntyre defeats Wendi Richter in 28:09 by pinfall after a swinging hurricanrana to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship As the commentators hastily explain that this technically gives Velvet McIntyre an opportunity to challenge for the world title, we end on a shot of her standing tall with Medusa Miceli by her side.
  18. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCVII – 5th of October 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter versus Debbie Combs for the WWW Television Championship We open untraditionally this week, with the trios title match going first. We get flashy entrances for our teams, and the commentators make much of the fact that Wendi Richter has a lot on her plate tonight, a title defence here and a two-out-of-three-falls match in the main event. The television champion, however, seems quite aware of this fact, setting the tone for the match when she tags out after a single strike from Medusa Miceli (who, with her partners Velvet McIntyre and Babyface Nellie) makes for an exceptional challenge. Between the Monsters and the challengers, we get an epic back-and-forth, with the faces holding the technical advantage but struggling to match their opponents in terms of power. After we’ve got through the first commercial break, a new narrative begins to develop. Wendi Richter refuses to be tagged in, eventually leaving the apron altogether and watching from the floor, and the Monsters are slowly but surely worn down. It takes all her effort for Medusa Miceli to hurl Rhonda Singh over in a German suplex but once that happens the finish plays itself out. Medusa Miceli & Velvet McIntyre & Babyface Nellie defeat Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett in 26:44 when Babyface Nellie pins Rhonda Singh after a running knee drop to win the WWW Trios Championship A music video promoting the season match concept, and the results so far, then plays before we arrive at the interviews. Wendi Richter is nowhere to be seen and the Monsters argue among themselves before seeming to conspire to interrupt the main event. Our new trios champions, on the other hand, are all smiles as they chat giddily with one another and the interviewer, refusing to sympathise with the Monsters who they accuse of being sore losers. After another commercial brea, we get to the first of tonight’s two back-to-back season matches, this one with Jamie West taking on Princess Delta Dawn. We have a simple narrative here, Jamie West has the speed and technical edge but Princess Delta Dawn is a powerhouse that just won’t seem to go down. In the end, Jamie West gives it her best shot but Princess Delta Dawn proves to be much too strong. Princess Delta Dawn defeats Jamie West in 09:02 by pinfall after a Ferris Wheel in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays before we head through to the interviews. Rockin’ Robin consoles her partner and they speculate on ways to take her opponent down in any future match-up. Princess Delta Dawn, for her part, seems mighty pleased with herself and says she plans to build up momentum and barrel through all her other opponents just as easily. Another commercial break then takes us to our second season match, this one pitting Desiree Petersen against Goldie Ray. Goldie Ray gets a few solid hits in here and there but, ultimately, this is a showcase for Desiree Petersen and yet another lesson for Luna Vachon who appears increasingly at home with the rest of the Giant Slayers. Desiree Petersen defeats Goldie Ray in 10:35 by submission with a Boston crab in a Season Match A sponsor-filled promotional package then plays before we go to the interviews. Goldie Ray is joined by Trudy Adams as they try to stay peppy, talking up the company and the opportunities it offers. The Giant Slayers all crowd in for their own interview and mostly talk about their loss of the tag titles, declaring that once they have integrated Luna Vachon fully into the team, they’ll become unstoppable. Another commercial break then brings us to the main event. Security staff are all over the ringside area and around the entrance ramp to prevent interference. Wendi Richter and Debbie Combs both take the match deathly seriously and the commentators explain that a successful defence here will grant the champ a shot at the US title. The contest is slow-paced and technical to begin, with both women trying to conserve their energy, knowing that a fluke victory is more or less out of the question. As the fight becomes more intense, we get our first fall shortly before the commercial break, when Wendi Richter pulls out a massive powerbomb and Debbie Combs gets her shoulder up just a second too late. When we return, Debbie Combs is fighting like a rabid dog, nasty strikes and even a few holds held in the ropes daring the referee to break things up. Wendi Richter eventually seems to accept the equaliser, as it gives her a chance to breathe when the referee sends them back to their corners. At one all, they then launch into a head-on charge that leaves both women sprawling in agony. The finish then comes down to who can stir first. As it happens, the champion is the first to her feet and she drags her opponent up for a second big powerbomb. Wendi Richter defeats Debbie Combs in 33:04 by two falls to one after a powerbomb to retain the WWW Television Championship We end on a shot of Wendi Richter, smiling through the pain as she seems to mouth the phrase “Velvet McIntyre, I’m coming for you.”
  19. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCVI – “September Spectacular” – 28th of September 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli versus Lisa Moretti for the NWA World Women’s Championship After a brief light show with thumping music and a shot of the crowd, we go straight into our opening match. Wendi Richter and Misty Blue Simmes go hard from the start, laying into each other heavily. We get a pretty standard back and forth until the commercial break, after which the pace of the match begins to heavily favour the champion. The challenger tries hard and fights through a lot of pain but can only kick out after so many powerbombs. Wendi Richter defeats Misty Blue Simmes in 23:40 by pinfall after a powerbomb to retain the WWW Television Championship We get a large video package, promoting the company’s top stars, before moving on to the first set of interviews. Misty Blue Simmes speaks frankly about her match, admitting that Wendi Richter had her number, before going on to give her partner some words of encouragement in her upcoming match. Wendi Richter rants and raves about the work she has to put in to get her justly deserved rematch against Medusa Miceli, tearing into Lisa Moretti and refusing to accept the company’s line that tonight’s main event is related to the world champ’s interference in her challenger’s most recent match. After another commercial break, we arrive at our first season match of the night, with Penny Mitchell facing off against Peggy Lee Leather. In this heel programme, both women use dirty tricks at various points but Penny Mitchell takes on the “true” heel role, highlighting her violent streak. Peggy Lee Leather gets a few good hits in but ultimately the affair is a showcase for the increasingly unhinged Penny Mitchell. Penny Mitchell defeats Peggy Lee Leather in 11:09 by pinfall after a swinging neckbreaker in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then tells us through to the interviews. Peggy Lee Leather is outraged and rants until Candi Devine shows up, seemingly, randomly and takes her off for a “private chat”. Penny Mitchell, for her part, complains that despite her obvious “domination” of the competition, she has been denied opportunities by the company. Another commercial break then takes us to our tag team title match, which the ring announcer declares will be fought under “Falls Count Anywhere” rules. The resulting carnage, between the Monsters and the Giant Slayers, both legal and occasionally nonlegal participants, takes us throughout the arena and includes a high number of elaborate stunts and set pieces. After a commercial break, everyone involved is bruised and exhausted and the finishing stretch of the match is fought around the ringside area, with plenty of crowd interaction. Amongst the chaos, Luna Vachon is able to keep Reggie Bennett from getting an easy win but ends up paying a nasty price for it when Rhonda Singh flattens her. In the end, with everyone else sprawled out on the floor in various states of agony, it comes down to Rhonda Singh and Winona Little Heart. The smaller woman goes for broke and leaps from to turnbuckle to the outside only to end up caught and at the mercy of the monster. Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett defeat Desiree Petersen & Winona Little Heart in 29:55 when Rhonda Singh pins Winona Little Heart on the outside after a gorilla press slam to win the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship After that, we get a brief round table discussion of the season so far, instead of our traditional go-to of interviews as the commentators explain that all the participants of the previous match are being checked on by medical staff. A commercial break subsequently takes us on to our US title match. Velvet McIntyre is technically up against Leilani Kai for this one but, in truth, she is really up against all the Glamour Girls who delight in tormenting her and making the match hell for her and the referee. After a fierce back and forth, it becomes obvious that Velvet McIntyre is in desperate need of help, which arrives in the form of Medusa Miceli who comes thundering down to the ring after a particularly egregious stunt. The end result is the world champion having to practically guide the official towards a ruling. Velvet McIntyre defeats Leilani Kai in 14:03 by disqualification and the NWA United States Women’s Championship does not change hands The commentators explain that, though she’s still the champion, the match does not count as a valid defence for the purpose of Velvet McIntyre’s quest for a world title shot, and she still needs one more. An advert for the merchandise catalogue then plays us through to the interviews. Leilani Kai stomps her feet and wails about “interference” from Medusa Miceli, whereas Velvet McIntyre thanks her friend and wishes her luck in her match. After a commercial break, we arrive at the second of tonight’s two season matches, with Heidi Lee Morgan facing Lady Apache. Both women have their partners with them, for what turns out to be a comfortably-placed friendly back-and-forth match. Both women get a few big moves but Lady Apache avoids ever facing any real danger before putting her opponent away. Lady Apache defeats Heidi Lee Morgan in 12:47 by submission with a chicken wing in a Season Match One last hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Misty Blue Simmes cheers her partner up and they both compliment Lady Apache, who, for her part, remains respectful in her own interview but expresses the view that she should receive a championship match in due time. Another commercial break then gets us to our main event, with expensive entrances for both women. The opening rounds are pure chain wrestling, with neither wrestler getting the edge, and seemingly contend to fight purely defensively. Naturally, it takes a commercial break and the general grind of the match, with bruises and pot-shots building up, to push both competitors to take risks and pull out their big moves. We get a few high spots and some very close calls but in the end, the champion delivers her crisp signature move and the challenger kicks out just a second too late. Medusa Miceli defeats Lisa Moretti in 30:23 by pinfall with a bridging German suplex to retain the NWA World Women’s Championship We then end on a shot, with Lisa Moretti cursing herself in the background, of Velvet McIntyre rushing down to celebrate with the champ.
  20. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCV – 21st of September 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Velvet McIntyre versus Misty Blue Simmes for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We start the show off this week with a parade of women as ten competitors walk down to the ring to participate in a battle royal for the now-vacant television title; Debbie Combs, Penny Mitchell, Desiree Petersen, Leilani Kai, Heidi Lee Morgan, Rhonda Singh, Rockin’ Robin and Wendi Richter. With a menagerie of other wrestlers at ringside, this match is a chaotic mess from the very beginning. Broadly split between heels and faces, no one finds themselves isolated and eliminated until after the commercial break, when alliances start to break down. The first woman to rat is Penny Mitchell, who helps the faces eliminate Rhonda Singh in an almighty effort. Leilani Kai and Wendi Richter then take advantage of the cluster of women, dumping Heidi Lee Morgan and Rockin’ Robin out. Desiree Petersen is the next to go, when Penny Mitchell helps Leilani Kai get her out, before throwing the leader of the Glamour Girls out with her. Debbie Combs then clotheslines Penny Mitchell out and gets ready for a confrontation with Wendi Richter. What follows for the last five minutes of the match is something approaching a traditional contest but Debbie Combs struggles to counter the dirty tricks Wendi Richter pulls out, which, in a match like this, she can’t be penalised for. Wendi Richter defeats Rhonda Singh & Heidi Lee Morgan & Rockin’ Robin & Desiree Petersen & Leilani Kai & Penny Mitchell & Debbie Combs in 29:31 in an over-the-top-rope battle royal to win the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event plays before we get to the interview with the winner. Wendi Richter ignores the interviewer and simply uses her time to declare herself ready to face Medusa Miceli once again. Another commercial break then brings us to our first season match of the night, with Winona Little Heart and Selina Majors facing off in what serves almost as a training session for the Giant Slayers. Luna Vachon is in attendance at ringside, where she interacts with Desiree Petersen and Susan Starr in a comradely way. The match itself is well-paced and technical, but heatless, and the finish is a foregone conclusion as Winona Little Heart maintains a clear advantage throughout. Winona Little Heart defeats Selina Majors in 09:20 by pinfall with a victory roll in a Season Match A brief advert for the merchandise catalogue then plays us through to the interview, which is naturally shared by all of the Giant Slayers. They chatter amongst themselves and say that they’re unafraid of the Monsters when the question of a tag title rematch inevitably comes up. Another commercial break then takes us to our next season match, with Babyface Nellie going up against Brittany Brown. What we get is a pure showcase for Babyface Nellie as Brittany Brown is beaten from pillar to post. A few sneaky tricks and some interference from Ashly Kennedy at ringside prevent a complete rout but there is never any serious danger that Babyface Nellie might lose. Babyface Nellie defeats Brittany Brown in 11:49 by pinfall after a running knee drop in a Season Match Another hype package for the main event then plays before we head to the interviews. Brittany Brown goes in for a venomous rant, whereas Babyface Nellie tries to remain humble and even suggests the match was quite even. Another commercial break then leads us to our main event, Misty Blue Simmes using her guaranteed challenge for the US title. Velvet McIntyre has Medusa Miceli in her corner and appears supremely confident. We then get a solid fifteen minutes of back-and-forth chain wrestling, with neither woman coming out on top before the commercial break. When we return, however, the tide has turned in favour of the champion, who is given constant words of advice and encouragement from her partner. Misty Blue Simmes tries a few high-risk moves to give herself some breathing room but merely ends up playing into the finish when a dive of hers from the top is met with two boots to the chest. Velvet McIntyre defeats Misty Blue Simmes in 27:59 by pinfall after a dropkick to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship We end on a shot of Medusa Miceli raising the arm of Velvet McIntyre. * P.S. Sorry, once again, for the inactivity, I have had a monstrously hectic week! Back to normal now, though, hopefully!
  21. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCIV – 14th of September 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Velvet McIntyre versus Lisa Moretti for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We open hot this week, with Misty Blue Simmes looking to defend her television title from Rhonda Singh. The two women go hard from the off, and only become more violent as the match progresses. Neither one has their partner at ringside, so things remain relatively clean albeit brutal. In the end, it comes down to the battle of the splash. Rhonda Singh misses hers, only to roll over and be hit by the champ’s own. Misty Blue Simmes defeats Rhonda Singh in 14:02 by pinfall after a diving splash in a Season Match to retain the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event then brings us through to the interviews. Rhonda Singh cuts her interview short, seemingly offended by the line of questioning and storms off. Misty Blue Simmes briefly talks about the main event, which will determine who she faces for the US title, but is cut short herself when the Monsters arrive on the scene, launching themselves at her and beating her as staff members and babyfaces rush in to break things up. A commercial break then takes us to our second season match, this one featuring Susan Starr heading off against Vicky Carranza. In stark contrast to the contest that preceded it, this one remains somewhat friendly and relies mainly on chain wrestling. The Giant Slayers are there to cheer their girl on, but it isn’t enough to make up for the raw determination from her opponent to win herself some momentum. Vicky Carranza defeats Susan Starr in 10:40 by submission with an Octopus hold in a Season Match A promotional video package, revolving around Medusa Miceli then plays before we head to the interview, which is held jointly between the two women and their allies. The girls strike a jovial tone and talk up the company and the fans. Another commercial then brings us to our third season match, with the world champion Medusa Miceli taking on Kat LeRoux. As one would expect, the match evolves into a showcase for Medusa Miceli, with Kat LeRoux fighting just to hold on. Medusa Miceli defeats Kat LeRoux in 08:55 by pinfall after a German suplex in a Season Match and the NWA World Women’s Championship does not change hands Another hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Kat LeRoux spends her interview feeling sorry for herself but Linda Dallas rants about how unfair the contest was and tries to fire her up. Medusa Miceli uses her time to talk up the main event and claims that Velvet McIntyre has it in her to win. After another commercial break we arrive at our last season match of the night, with Trudy Adams taking on Candi Devine. Whilst Goldie Ray is in her partner’s corner, Penny Mitchell is noticeably absent from hers. The commentators suggest that this could explain the bad start the heel gets off to. For the first few minutes of the match we get to see Trudy Adams on the offensive and Candi Devine struggling to keep up. As things wear on, however, every short cut and cheap shot from the heel starts to add up. It remains competitive and close but, in the end, cheating gets Candi Devine her way. Candi Devine defeats Trudy Adams in 12:33 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes in a Season Match A music video for the Star Girls plays and then we go to the interviews. Goldie Ray consoles Trudy Adams and they complain about the referee failing to properly enforce the rules. Candi Devine, for her part, appears annoyed and distracted throughout her interview and says little of substance. Another commercial break then brings us to the main event. Velvet McIntyre looks nervous during her entrance, as Lisa Moretti paces around the ring waiting for her. Some words of encouragement from Medusa Miceli at ringside seem to soothe the champ, however, and she heads into the fight with a seemingly clear head. We get some surprisingly strong offence from Velvet McIntyre as she dominates the early rounds but once Lisa Moretti has adapted, the tide turns against the champ and things get ugly. We head into a commercial break, with Lisa Moretti applying a hold that looks close to choking the life out of Velvet McIntyre. When we return, the champ is still in a vulnerable position, playing defence as Lisa Moretti tries blowing through her entire arsenal. It seems as though we will have a title change until it comes right down to the wire and Medusa Miceli decides to intervene, getting up on the apron to scream at Lisa Moretti, who falls for the distraction. Initially confused, Velvet McIntyre quickly takes advantage and holds onto her title. Velvet McIntyre defeats Lisa Moretti in 27:05 by pinfall after a schoolboy roll-up to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship We end on a shot of a furious argument between Lisa Moretti and Medusa Miceli that appears close to coming to blows.

  24. Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XCIII – 7th of September 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett versus Desiree Petersen & Winona Little Heart & Susan Starr for the WWW Trios Championship We open this week with a video package covering last week’s event and offering a brief glimpse of the season leader board so far. After that, we move onto the traditional television title opener. Misty Blue Simmes goes one-on-one with the former champ Babyface Nellie. The two wrestle an intense but clean and technical match, pushing each other to the limit through the commercial break. Neither one wants to take any shortcuts and they give each other breathing room and time to recover where necessary. In the end, we get near-falls for both women before the action ramps up and the champ just manages to get her finishing manoeuvre off first. Misty Blue Simmes defeats Babyface Nellie in 23:48 by pinfall after a diving splash to retain the WWW Television Championship After that, the two shake hands and we cut to a music video promoting Medusa Miceli before getting through to the interviews. Babyface Nellie compliments her opponent and pledges to redouble her training efforts. Misty Blue Simmes is joined by her partner, Heidi Lee Morgan, and they focus on the main event, saying that they believe the Giant Slayers have it in them to come away victorious. A commercial break then brings us to the first of tonight’s two season matches, with Debbie Combs facing Malia Hosaka. Malia Hosaka gets a few hits in and her partner-in-crime Princess Delta Dawn prevents the match from turning into a complete squash but, ultimately, this is a showcase for Debbie Combs. After her recent defeats, she seems desperate to prove herself and takes all of her frustrations out on her opponent. Debbie Combs defeats Malia Hosaka in 10:04 by pinfall after a neckbreaker in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays before we head to the interviews. Malia Hosaka throws all sorts of accusations around and generally refuses to take responsibility for her loss. Debbie Combs complains that she’s stuck floating around the midcard and needs to come up with a new strategy to put herself back in the main event. Another commercial then brings us to the next season match, with Linda Dallas attempting to take on Lisa Moretti. In the opening rounds, Linda Dallas does remarkably well and Lisa Moretti struggles to cope with an all-out assault from the Nasty Girls, including outside interference that nearly gets Kat LeRoux sent to the back. In the end, however, Lisa Moretti muscles through and dips into her heel side to win the day. Lisa Moretti defeats Linda Dallas in 13:51 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes in a Season Match A promotional package showing off the company’s VIP tickets then serves as a transition to the interviews. The Nasty Girls scream and squeal about the foul play involved in Lisa Moretti’s victory whereas, for her part, she shrugs the contest off and focuses on her match with Medusa Miceli from last week, complimenting the world champion on a clever tactic but suggesting that it only served to delay the inevitable. After another commercial break we arrive at our main event. Whilst the Monsters simply thunder down to the ring, where the Giant Slayers lie in wait, visibly trepidatious, Wendi Richter milks her entrance as she loves to do. The narrative of the match subsequently develops, the heels have an advantage as individuals but the faces are far better coordinated unit. We get a nice amount tagging in and out, so that every potential pairing of opponents gets at list a little time to shine. It’s only after the commercial break that the rhythm of the match changes to a brawl and the heels begin to take serious liberties, culminating in Wendi Richter delivering her patented powerbomb on the ringside floor to the non-participant Selina Majors. This leads to Wendi Richter getting a beatdown for her troubles but distracts the Giant Slayers from the proceedings of the match, which allows the Monsters to deliver a brutal double splash to Susan Starr. Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett defeat Desiree Petersen & Winona Little Heart & Susan Starr in 27:44 when Rhonda Singh pins Susan Starr after a splash to retain the WWW Trios Championship We end on scenes of war, as the fighting continues long after the bell, mostly seeing the domination of the Monsters. * P.S. Apologies for my absence once again! As you can tell, I've given up on finding a decent word processor and I'm just using Google Docs now. Thanks for all the commentary!
