Pre-Set Rosters for The 1996 Project
Perfectly Straightedge replied to Perfectly Straightedge's topic in Battle of the Ages
Okay, everybody, I haven't heard anything from Mr.JMML. So I am going to consider his whole roster exempt. That means he will keep everyone that's on his roster. We will go ahead and set up the draft now. I have already added all the names from the PWI Top 500 to the list; the talent missing was Japanese talent like Misawa and those superstars. So if you want to draft them, you can. You are more than welcome if a name isn't on the list and you want to draft them, then you can also do that. I don't want to put handcuffs on us as writers. With this list, we could easily get more writers and more people into the game. So if you know anyone, now is the time. That said, I updated my roster and added some others into the draft pool, exempting 14 superstars. I will probably regret it, but it is what is, as they always say. lol Manager - Beulah McGillicutty Little Guido New Jack Mustafa Pitbull #1 Pitbull #2 The Sandman I like it, and I am here for it! I always thought once The nWo came into the fold that it basically put The Horsemen as obsolete. So I am very excited about it. -
Pre-Set Rosters for The 1996 Project

So as soon as I get BattlArts exemption list. I will go ahead and get everything set up for the draft of talent. If for whatever reason I don’t hear back then I will exempt his whole roster and he will be skipped that many rounds like the rules state. This is everyone’s last chance to make sure you got your exemptions done correctly and your happy with your rosters. Now the draft will go till we either hit roster cap or decide to drop out. You don’t have to draft till you are at cap unless you want to. If you want to call your draft early you can. -

That Farooq one took a shot at an idea of mine with Tha Gangstas. Now we just need BattlArts and WCW and we are good to get everything set up for the draft. -

I have never been asked that before. If you book a bear, then you win Booker of the Year! I would make the handler cost a spot, and the bear comes along with it. I am sure nobody would find an issue with that. -

I was deep down hoping an exemption wasn’t coming for Mike Awesome. Lol I will update it for you. -

Akira comes with your roster because he is your owner and can compete, just like how MLB uses Onita. -

That will be added as well. Using cagematch overlooked managers pretty hard. So that’s why I said do a double check for everything I mean we are all human. I tried grabbing the most relevant I could find but of course people are going to fall through the cracks. It’s nothing personal just hard to catch every single roster member 20 some years later. Lol I should have paid closer attention to Smackdown hotel as well. I will get her added as well. -

Perfectly Straightedge replied to Perfectly Straightedge's topic in Battle of the Ages
Yeah I will be honest I didn’t see the two shoot promotions coming. So I’m very curious how that plays out. Very excited about it. Also for sure I’m more than happy to work out loans, trades and stuff. ECW needs The Funker to make an appearance. I got Paul Heyman and if we know anything about Heyman is that business is always open. I’m going to work on my exempt list once my wife leaves for work. So mine will be posted in about a hour -
Pre-Set Rosters for The 1996 Project
Perfectly Straightedge replied to Perfectly Straightedge's topic in Battle of the Ages
That brings up the question do you guys want to do the announcers, ring announcer and everything from real life or draft them? Announcers don’t count towards cap so if you want a three man booth like what WCW and WWF ended up doing. I have no issues with that and you don’t need to mark them exempt. Now if you go over your three managers then you will need to use an exempt on your manager. -

Perfectly Straightedge replied to Perfectly Straightedge's topic in Battle of the Ages
Okay, guys, go ahead and double-check your rosters and start your exempt process. I gave ECW, WCW, and WWF 5 more exempt spaces to keep their rosters as authentic as possible to the timeframe. So the exemption from the draft cap is 20 for ECW, WCW, and WWF. The Foreign Promotions do not have an exemption from the draft cap, and they can keep their whole roster if they like, just because their promotions are so different. The talent they are looking at is not in the same category as the American Promotions. Remember, however many exempt spots you use is how many rounds you will be skipped in the draft. You don't have to use all your exempt spots. Post your exemptions here so I can get them marked down. Remember, whoever isn't exempt CAN BE DRAFTED! Also, you get three free manager spots as well. So use those wisely. They don't count toward your Exemption List. So you get three free managers. W*ING USA if you have managers let me know, and I will add them for you cause I just added your roster. When making your roster, I didn't know who was or wasn't a manager, so it's blank. Example. I use 14 of my 20. Then I will start drafting at round 15. If WCW uses all 20, then they start drafting at Round 21. If the foreign promotions keep their whole roster and have a roster of 39, they can select to draft at round 40 to get their roster to cap or wait till the draft ends and pick up from Free Agency. Everyone's roster cap is 45. So that way, talent can be evenly distributed. You will get an increase of talent by 5 spaces every 6 months as long as you stay active, which means if you post a show once a month, which is the quota. Then you will be eligible for a bonus of 5 in January that will keep stacked until you hit the max roster cap of 70. LowBlow will be joining as the placebo to draft the whole process. This is to help make a free agency fresh so we can keep adding to the free agency throughout the year. When talent gets added to free agency, I will make a 24-hour pause on free agency so everyone can see who got added and then we can reopen free agency the following day. Rookie Draft for 1997 will be in January, and I will also start that list later today. I think that covers everything. -

Pre-Set Rosters for The 1996 Project
Perfectly Straightedge replied to Perfectly Straightedge's topic in Battle of the Ages
With how long it took me to make the rosters and just how VAST I see this free agency will be. I will do a 24-hour hold on any movement until I get everything straightened up and squared away with rosters and everything after the draft. For at least the first few days, I considered restricting how much talent could be released and signed within a day. Just cause it's going to take some work to square away everything. We can get there, though, once we get everything started. So it's been 24 hours and I don't see anyone else joining. So with that being said. If nobody has any questions or concerns about rosters or anything, then we can go ahead and do the random generator so that we can go ahead and see who will be what promotion and get this first phase done. -
Pre-Set Rosters for The 1996 Project

1. I have no issues with Onita wrestling; that's entirely up to you. He is on your roster. He is one of those exceptions sorta like using Vince as an on-screen figure, Paul Heyman or Eric Bischoff. So I have no issues with Onita wrestling and not costing a spot. As for Funk. He is going to cost a spot much like Lawler in the WWF will cost a spot unless he is put in the commentary booth full-time as a color commentator. 2. I had no idea how that gimmick worked or anything. I just read on Cagematch, and it showed Jason the Terrible. So I assumed he was the only guy, but if others portrayed, then yeah, I will add them as separate gimmicks, and you wouldn't need to sign anyone else, but I would make Crypt Keeper, Freddy, and Jason all count as a spot a piece. As for who portrays, that's up to you. You have that right if you want to draft someone and put them under the mask as a duel worker you can but if not then I will just make them all cost a spot on your roster if that makes sense. 3. For Aja, you could add her to your roster but the only reason I would say to hold out till the draft is just cause she would cost an exemption pick. So you could save your exemption spot and just draft her in the upcoming draft. 4. I have ZERO issues with that, but I would need some help with Pride/UFC cause that's a whole universe. So whoever wants to take point on that and help I have zero issues with adding them. -

That works, I added some guys to the roster via Cagematch.net. I did have to remove Taka, and Funaki from the BattlArts has they have already been assigned to W*ING USA -

Thoughts about a 1991 game.
Perfectly Straightedge replied to Autistic Dragon's topic in Armchair Booking
So this is officially how the draft and everything will work. We will host two drafts, and this game will work in phases. First Phase (Promotion Draft) This will be the draft for promotions. I know a few of us have stated the promotion they would like to be. So please respect their wishes. As MLB has stated, he wants to run W*NG USA, and Control has stated he wants to run RINGS. So please respect their wishes and not select those promotions. So once the promotions are drafted between everyone else. That phase is completed as everyone knows what promotion they will be running. Second Phase (Exemption Process) The Second phase of this process will be the exemption process. This is where everyone can look at their roster and then decide who they want to keep to be exempt from the draft and automatically stay on their roster. Important to note that any talent that was not marked as exempt can be drafted by any promotion. So to keep the talent fair and evenly distributed every roster member that gets put on the exempt process will count as a pick for that round. So if you exempt all 15 roster members, then your first 15 rounds are completed, and you would start drafting on round 16. This is because if we have stars in the draft and somebody chooses a promotion that ceases to exist in real life. Like, let's say an AWA revival, or a Memphis promotion, or any promotion that somebody wants to create well they are not going to have a pre-made roster for it. So they will have nobody to exempt and will instead have to draft their roster. Again I am working on the pre-made rosters now. So everybody will have an idea of rosters before the Promotion Draft. Third Phase (Talent Draft) So the third phase of this game is the Talent Draft now after the exemptions have been done. How we decide the order of the talent draft will be to rotate the order of the promotion draft. So if you got the last pick of the promotions, then you will get the first pick of the talent available. The draft will work in regular order. So it will look like this. That's right no snake this time around just because it would mean whoever got the first promotion would also get b2b picks which I don't consider fair. So just a normal style of draft if that's alright with everyone. Round 1 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Round 2 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Now remember the exempt list. If you marked a superstar exempt, that superstar will replace your rounds pick. So this will have you use your exempts carefully and ensure you exempt those you don't want anyone else to have. You don't have to use all your exempts if you don't want but remember whoever is not exempted gets drafted. So foreign promotions can still participate in the draft if they choose as I won't cap their exempt list because they won't be going for the same talent as the rest of us, so if you run a Mexican or a Japanese Promotion or anything overseas. Then you get the exception of the exempt list because nobody will be going after your talent, but if your promotion is based in America/Canada, you have to abide by the 15 exempt slots. Unless you pick a promotion with no pre-made roster that case you will have to use all rounds of the draft to get your talent. With this no cap on the exempt list for foreign talent. If you are happy with your pre-made roster and do not want to draft anyone, then you can use all your exempts for your roster size and then draft after the round if you choose or you can say I am happy with this roster and I will wait till the draft is completed and sign free agents. To give an example. If your promotion has 41 slots and you want to keep all 41 talent as a foreign promotion, you are welcome to do so and then can decide to compete in the draft after round 41 or wait till it's over to fill out your roster that way. Now as for talent in the draft. We are going to do it like this EVERYBODY costs 1 Roster Spot. So if you let's say want Harlem Heat. Then Booker T and Stevie Ray must be drafted separately. Same with The Smoking Guns and all teams. The only exception to talent not costing a roster spot is the following. Owner - They come with your promotion. Commentator Color Commentator Backstage Interviewer Ring Announcer Manager - 3 spots don't count as roster spots but anything more than 3 counts as a roster spot. We are also going to introduce what we are going to call the Ghost Drafter. So this drafter will be LowBlow as he kindly offered his services to help us with the draft. Cause who doesn't love a good draft? So his goal in the draft is to assist us in making a Free Agency and hold some guys for if new people want to join the game. Then if it looks like nobody is going to join us, that roster that he drafted will be its own particular draft that we will call a fresh-face draft, where that roster can be drafted. I do want to add something to that roster. Whoever he does, select. I am going to call it The Untouchable List. Now with this list whoever we decide doesn't get put into the free agency then this list will sit dormant till another writer wants to join, and they can select from it, but if nobody decides to join, then we will keep this list still until we want to host what's called a Fresh Face Draft. Where that talent will be drafted by the owners still participating, but one last thing about this list of talent he will draft and what will happen to it. We are going to call this list, The Untouchable List. So I want everyone to have a chance to get a crack at this list so in case someone gets drafted that we wanted. So once a month an active owner can trade one of their talents for a talent on that list. So for example let's say that Lowblow drafted Eddie Guerrero. Well one of us is more than welcome to take a member of our roster but remember this is 1996 and Eddie wasn't a World Champion. He was great, but he was a mid-carder at best in WCW. So I could go. I will trade into the Untouchable List Hunter Hearst Hemsley for Eddie Guerrero. So Eddie would join my roster, and Hunter would take his place in the Untouchable List. Tag Teams apply the same way. You can trade two singles superstars or a tag team of equal value into the list for that particular talent. After we finish this draft, I will explain more about Untouchable List, but that's the basic rundown. So that covers about everything. If anyone has any more questions or clarification, please let me know. I think I addressed everything. -

That works for me I don’t have any issues with that. So honestly with everyone signed up what I am going to today is get the rosters ready as well a random generator for the promotion draft so we can get an order done and that way we can go ahead and get this started up pretty soon. -

Perfectly Straightedge replied to Autistic Dragon's topic in Armchair Booking
I am working on that as we speak. I was using Cage match as the reference and then seeing who worked more than 10 matches for a promotion and doing it that way. The only thing that puts a wrench in that idea is if someone picks a promotion that either didn’t exist then or something like that cause there is no record for a roster for that promotion but we can work something out. Like for example SMW went out of business in 1995 but delaying and adding Cornette to the mix I don’t think would hurt anything but yet again no preset roster could be made so the build would have to be from the draft. Nothing to worry about I will make sure talent gets even distributed with a draft or see if anyone wants over the talent. So nothing to worry about there
