  2. I'm going the opposite route. Any team that can get me to watch a Sheepherders match and stay in it and have great matches with the MX and go to Japan and have great matches there deserves the nod. Also, everytime the Fantastics went to a new territory, they were forced to follow the Rock N Roll Express and each time they made a success out of it. The Fantastics

  4. I was going to bring that up but really didn't want to focus on that. If it wasn't Owen up there, it would have been some other mid-carder that Vince would have stuck in a superhero gimmick even if it wasn't the Blue Blazer. Think today's Hurricane and Rosey. A tragedy was going to happen. Instead, I think from a wrestling standpoint, it could have had many different implications and that is what I prefer to focus on.
  5. Totally overlooked because of the WWE stuff... Puerto Rico (More proof that wrestling is scummy) --- On 7/16, 17 years to the weekend of Brody's death, the WWC held the Bruiser Brody Memorial cup... in the same building he was murdered in!!!! --- The man paying tribute to him is the same man who is alleged to have hidden the murder weapon. ( Is this Carlos Colon? ) NOAH ---Kenta Kobashi watch: Look for him in the States on 9/24 for Harley Race's WLW, on 10/01 in New York for ROH, and attempts tp book him for 10/7 and 10/8 for FIP in Florida. Worst Card Ever: --- the Wrestle Reunion show on 8/27 features this lineup... - DDP vs. Larry Zbyszko w/ Bruno as guest referee. If larry wins he gets 5 minutes with Bruno after the match. - The Funk Bros. and Mick Foley (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. Condrey, Eaton, and Lane (w/ Cornette) - Don and Joe Muraco vs. Bob and Brad Armstrong - Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana - IVAN KOLOFF vs. DOMINIC DENUCCI - BG James & Ron Killings vs. The Fantastics vs. The Backseat Boys vs. Gene Ligon & David Isley - Wendy Richter, George South Jr. and the Patriot (Tom Brandy) vs. Amy Love, DC drake and Gary Royal - Elimination match: Dusty Rhodes, Missing Link, Tom Pritchard and Dlo Brown vs. Steve Corino, Test, Samu and Alofa - Steve Williams vs. Mike Kaluha (Doc's first match back after cancer)
  6. In the WO News thread, teke mentioned Owen breaking Austin's neck. Just recently, while compiling matches for the Hart Foundation compilation, I rewatched this match. This was heading toward classic status until the ending which was one of the most brutal non-gimmicked spots I have ever seen. Well, this started the juices flowing and made me think what direction this would have led both men had the accident not have happened. First off, after the accident, it was known that Austin did not want to work a program with Owen because of the injury. HBK did not want to work a program because of the Bret hart situation. This led to Owen being stuck in a HHH feud and eventually midcard hell until his demise. I always wondered why Austin was so bitter towards Owen Hart and found my answer, in of all places, a TV Guide interview. In the interview, Austin never mentions Owen by name, but basically said that Owen was very nonchalant about the situation and didn't call when he was in the hospital or apologize or even acknowledge the issue privately. Take the source with a grain of salt but it made perfect sense especially since Austin-Owen could have been huge esp. after the accident. It also bothered me that in the Owen tribute show, it was Austin raising a beer to Owen when Owen was known to live clean and not be happy with the direction austin was taking the company. Even then, I felt that the tribute was forced and fake. So, if Owen never broke Austin's neck, what could have happened? Would Austin-Owen have been a program worth pursuing? After the Hart Foundation debacle, would Austin have willingly worked a long program to pick up where Austin-Bret left off? Would Austin have pressured HBK to do what is right for business and work a program with Owen? would the WWE style as we know it today be a be drastically different with less brawling and more emphasis on matwork since Austin excelled at that style of wrestling? Would he still have the same drawing ability since the brawling style was s popular? Would nothing have changed? What is your take?
  7. Man, fuck you. You already admitted in a previous post that you added nothing to the wrestling folder and with every over-generalized statement and meandering thought, you continue to do so. Prove me wrong and add something of substance. Create a fucking topic. Save the dead weight bullshit for the other boards you post on. Your one sole fucking contribution was a stupid, clearly not thought out, flip-flop on an issue that really should not have been debated because the WWE clearly was in the wrong. Your post equates to "I agree with Loss" and nothing more. This is the same bullshit that we are critical of other posters for and that used to get CWM raked through the coals. Now step up to the plate and give us some substance... something we were hoping NMB would stand for. Instead, with every post you continue to prove CJ and others (including myself) who feel "That boy doesn't have an original thought in his head". Go ahead... prove me wrong. I would appreciate it and NMB would be better for it.
  8. Um... Loss just said that. Anyway, you shouldn't be surprised. It is Misawa's backyard, Kawada is a free agent and not going to be sticking with the company very long and agreed to job. Plus, the mark boys get their "dream" match and something to rabble out for years to come. It doesn't surprise me at all. I think it is more interesting that the last three matches involved a guy hitting the other guy with his arm.
  9. Well, Edge's interview was a little intense, but like all bad writing, resorted to the internet geek BS. I tuned in during the Diva Search and it was neat seeing the WWE interject music over the live crowd so you couldn't hear the jeers. Did anyone else notice how Coach went into rapid-fire delivery so he could get the hell out of there?
  10. WWE Performers over 40: Steve Austin (Steve Williams) 40 Eric Bischoff 48 Boogey Man (Martin Wright) 41 Booker T (Booker Huffman) 40 Ric Flair (Richard Fleihr) 56 Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea) 51 Bob Holly (Rob Howard) 42 Ivory (Lisa Moretti) 42 Jerry Lawler 55 Teddy Long 49 Roddy Piper (Roderick Tombs) 51 William Regal (Darren Matthews) 40 Jim Ross 54 Sgt. 11. Meltz said the following and it sums up the company right now even though he was referring to the JBL-Meanie segment from the 7/7 SD!: As a fan watching, I tried to put myself into Joe Average's position, and this was like watching WCW announcers where there is a story and they aren't allowed to talk about it and you just get frustrated because nothing is making sense.... "I really wished a few people in power read "Death of WCW, " this week because they fell into eight different WCW traps in this angle alone.
  12. This is more 1990 WWF than 1985. In 1985, there were still guys in regular trunks and boots. By 1990, if you trunks weren't neon or your name wasn't totally absurd, you didn't work in the WWF.
  13. NO shit? I had no idea. Either way, give me some more Takako!
  14. Hey, thanks for the thanks, but to me, it is more important that it generates discussion. As for the Flair-Orton deal, Meltzer mentioned that also but like the rest of the story, it was only conjecture.
  15. Well, my exposuure to Butch Reed is limited to a few clips from Mid-South, the squash matches from early WWF tv, some non-descript WWF PPV matches and a few tag matches with Doom.
  16. Booker T - I have always liked Booker T. Being the one sole fan who raised the roof after he beat the Undertaker on the 9/10/01 taping of RAW made me feel good. I think CJ may have had it right when he said he may be the best black wrestler to ever work in wrestling. Tito Santana - I tell this story every time his name is mentioned, and every time it gets no-sold. Tito's Arriba! shirt is the only wrestling shirt I have ever owned. Jun Akiyama - My least favorite of the All Japan big guns of the 90s. I like Taue about ten times more. His matches as singles were good but were never favorites. Necro Butcher - Never seen him. Hulk Hogan - I have seen hogan live twice in my life. Both times, he didn't wreslte. Once was in 1990 at a tv taping. The other was in 1997 at a Nitro. Mike Awesome - I don't give a shit. I mark for Mike Awesome. Personally, I liek seeing him take other people and throw them around like rag dolls. Kyoko Inoue - I love watching Kyoko wrestle. however, I like watching her sister more... not wrestling, just watching her. Fuerza Guerrera - A surly old bastard. Watching the tags betwene the Mysterios and Guerreras the other day mad eme realize that this old fucker can fight. The Rock - I remember the first time I thought the Rock was the shit... WM 14 and being interviewed by Gennifer Flowers. Been a fan ever since. However, I really wish he never have done the Sharpshooter. Edge - Never a fan. Maybe the stuff he did with Foley and the gazoos. Can someone point the way to a GREAT Edge match that does not involve Eddie Guerrero? Anyone?

  19. MX (Eaton & Lane)
  20. Well, for as much time as I spend skimming and posting this stuff, and for the lack of response, I think we may have to settle for the Torch for now on.
  21. Damn, if Meltz did this with the Observer, I would save tons of time. Then again, Metlz has at least half a brain.
  22. Good enough. hell, then I expect the Freebirds to take this in a walk so a vote for theBulldogs won't hurt.
  23. Why did you change the rules mid-Tournament?
  24. Do you get this online or did you scan it?
