  1. Sorry, but the Blondes are over-rated. All of the teams they faced had much better matches with lesser opponents. Their shtick reminds me of a prelude to Christian and Edge. And just skim the boards and see the praise these guys get (you're giving it) yet no one mentions or defends specific matches that made them excel above any other given tag team. Every Blondes match I have seen was either good or underwhelming and I have seen a few. The Clash 22 match against Steamboat and Douglas was good, nothing great, and could probably be called their best match (unless their is some hidden, super secret match I haven't seen on Pro or Main Event) and the Clash 23 match against Flair and Anderson sucked (even though I don't blame that on the Blondes). The Dos Hombres match was mediocre. So maybe I should have been more elaborate... the Blondes aren't in the Fantastics league (except maybe in interviews) but there is nothing in their small grab bag of matches that would say this was a great team. And for shame, saying the Fantastics are worlds better than the Blondes is ALOT differtent than saying the Outsiders were worlds better than the Blondes. Come on now.
  2. I don't think the gap between Joe and Gibson is that enormous at all. After watching a few Gibson matches (soemone I never liked in WWE), I am slowly becoming a fan. So far, so good on the indy scene for him. As for Homicide, he has his moments but for every Homicide-Danielson there is a Homicide-Acid to negate any positive feelings.
  3. It isn't going to help you now but we will have a Fantastics comp available in the next few months.
  4. Not employed by WWE, easily Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson.

  6. In a perfect world, large American audiences would appreciate Lucha and Puro and that would be the standard of wrestling in the U.S. In a perfect world, Shinya Hashimoto would not have died so young.
  7. THAT is the main reason I am leery of Scherer's report. No one in their right mind, who wants to keep their job, would ever tell Trips he is over-exposed.

  9. Well, if that is the case, we will know in the upcoming future. I still haven't seen Meltzer confirm it so until then, I am taking what Scherer says with a grain of salt.

  13. Fantastics One of the best tag teams ever.... ever. Great matches in Mid-South, NWA and All Japan. Easily better than the Blondes who have been given unfair love because of one skit (Flair for the Old) and what the members later became.
  14. British Bulldogs The Bulldogs were a tag team when it meant something to be a tag team. Edge and Christian had great comedy skits. The Bulldogs had Matilda but I would still pick them since I felt that E&C matches were always underwhelming. It took a ton of gimmicks and tons of bumping to put them on the map.

  16. WTF? Man, RIP to a wrestler that intrigued me moreso than any of my favorites. With Hash, I never knew what kind of match I was going to get but I always looked forward to it. Damn.
  17. Where was this posted?
  18. Probably one of Cornette's more racist quotes... in fact I may transcribe all of Corentte's racist comments and list those. When he was going against Rocky King and other black wrestlers, Cornette always used race as a basis for his putdowns... " If Rocky King keeps sticking his nose in our business, we're going to read him Roots backwards so it has a happy ending"

  20. I'm all for debate. I am even for Sass expressing his opinion. The reason it is not well-reasoned is because Sass's argument did not have a good reason or even a valid point behind it. He did a fine job of arguing the point... but it was not reasonable to think that the message the WWE, Hassan and crew were trying to get across was that of the beheading video.
  21. When was the Rick ever respected? And even Sass admitted he was wrong. Just because it was argued, does not mean it was well-reasoned.
  22. To add tothis, when Beaks wrestled Davey Boy, was he known as Young David?
  23. Seriously... I am glad you changed your mind and apologized.
  24. Completely different. Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, etc. were white. There was never any discussion of religion or race. It was simply a matter of nationalism and/or jingoism, whatever you may think it is. This had racial overtones, religious overtones, and was also bad television. I equate the Russian angle to something like the Un-American angle or the Hart Foundation angle of 1997. Pitting countries against each other and exploiting world issues that had negative consequences (and esp. allowing it to run AFTER they knew the bombings had taken place! ) are two completely different things. I am really shocked that you, of all people, did not pick up on the difference.
  25. No your opinions are your own, , but I think you are slightly off base, and like Loss, I want to make sure I respond with thought before making a detailed response.
