  1. We could have changed their minds. I had an essay ready
  2. Excellent. I always enjoyed Dusty Rhodes as a kid. Then he had to get in the ring and ruin it. If you can turn me on to some good Dusty matches I would appreciate it.
  3. You know, it is hard to vote against one of the two biggest money draws the company has ever had but I am going to. Austin had some of the fed's best matches ever with Bret Hart and arguably the Rock. He drew alot of money and was a cultural icon... Then he stayed around too long. His brawling style that defined the fed became cliche and predictable. His difficulty proved detrimental to the company when he should have been building new stars. I don't blame this all on Ausin as the Fed was making some mind-numbing stupid decisions around this time. His interviews, while entertaining initially, also became stale and gave us some of the dumbest wrestling catch phrases of all-time... "What?", "Bionic Redneck". Also, Austing gets points taken off for beating up his girlfriend while JR verbally fellates him at every opportunity. Then again, Savage locked his wife in the damn boiler room so that may be a wash. Austin's heel turn flopped, 1) because of the Fed's stupidity in not listening to the audience... and 2) because he was too eager to play sing along with the crowd and hold on to catchphrases in hopes it would help his merch sales. Then you have Savage. While Austin had great matches with the best wrestlers in the company (Benoit, Rock, Hart), Savage had his against the worst. This isn't to discount the great matche she had with Flair and Steamboat. Those are to be expected. You want a MOTY out of Hulk Hogan? Give him to Savage. You want a classic against Warrior where people are crying in the audience? Give it to Savage. Also, looking at flexibility, Savage could play heel or face with the best of them. He knew exactly what to do to elicit the perfect response. As a heel, he did all of the subtle things. As a face, he did all of the things a face in peril needs. In a perfect world, Savage, Bret and Austin would have a three-way dance in a barbed wire cage with the winner getting a chance to spend five minutes in the cage with Vinnie Mac. However, on match quality and importance to the company and his impact on the company with consequences, I am giving this to the Macho Man. OHHHHHHHHHH YEAH!!!! Randy Savage

  5. Chris Benoit - I think Benoit could become champ again. More than anything, he should show hints of a heel turn, and keep the fans guessing up until his moment of truth. Chris Jericho - With HHH on the shelf, maybe. As long as he stays on the same show as Trips, he doesn; ahve a chance. A lottery switch would do him good. Eddy Guerrero - Absolutely. Eddie remains over and a couple of top-level feuds would put him right back in the picture. Hopefully, the 2ndtime around won't be so taxing on him. Kane - The perfect time for Kane would have been after they removed his mask and he was truly a vicious looking heel with a loose screw. Now, nobody takes him seriously since Trips effectively squashed him as he was getting hot. I still don't know if he has done anything significant since Taker squashed him at WM XX. Big Show -Yeah, by virtue of his size and demeanor, Big Show would always appear to be a cedible champion. However, in order for him to actually draw or make the company mony, they need to kep his jobs limited and not use him as a sacrifical lamb when building up a new guy. In WCW and WWF, Big Show should have had an Andre like record, losing only on countouts and disqualifications. If he submits to an injury, so be it but keep the pins to a minimum.

    HTQ Request

The only problem with that is Meltzer's subscribers are not the casual viewing audience.
  12. Most of my collection is comps with a wide array of wrestlers or individual shows. I don't think I have more than two comps for any one wrestler.
  13. Well, I think that would be a summer project worth tackling
  14. This argument against Rey has too many flaws. First off, with the proper booking, any champion can look credible. HBK was a mini-me compared to most of the guys he was facing. In UFC, Royce Gracie was a midget compared to some of those monsters but he came out of every fight looking tougher everytime. With Rey, like I said, you need to do some work first. you need to give him a killer submission or other credible finisher that could be applied to ANYONE. Once you do that, you have a guy that people take seriously. He will be the Emmit Smith of wrestling... the little guy who defied all odds and took care of business. It would also take some work from the announcers, emphasizing Rey's credibility and skill and not constatnly reminding the audience he is a midget. As for Eddie bombing as champion, it has to be said. As champion, his only major feud, post-Mania, was with JBL. JBL came out of nowhere and was not a credible challenger in my eyes or anyone else's. He had some great matches with Eddie but did zero before hand to make the crowd care. That is not Eddie's fault.
  15. teke, how hard would it be for you to make an OVW comp set?
