  1. Is Rollins also banned from using the RKO? Because Orton trying to escape out the door, Kane knocking him back into a Rollins RKO and Rollins escaping would be interesting to me.
  2. His best match is the Mark Henry Vengeance match that had the crowd going molten in the end and ending with the ring collapsing. What year was that? I don't think I've seen it and I love Mark Henry. I definitely would remember that if I had. EDIT: Looked it up - it's 2011 for anyone else curious.
  3. Major, major kudos to Reigns and Show. I went from limited interest pre-match to absolutely loving this. What a great spectacle! Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to name a more memorable and enjoyable match from Big Show possibly ever in WWE - only other that comes to mind is the Mayweather match. And good on the crowd for not being awful to Reigns in what was really a match that I think will be looked at as pivotal in changing his perception with most crowds.
  4. The changing neon lights on Naomi's shoes are incredible!
  5. Hate the strap match style rules in effect here, but it would be worth it if prior to Cena touching the fourth light, Rusev dislodges the whole lighting structure and turns it into a weapon. Red light going off with each strike.
  6. Ambrose seems like the kind of guy that would steal someone's Uber vehicle to follow Harper around Chicago.
  7. So, they did announce the King in the Ring on Tuesday in that network programming promo, right? Now I'm worried I imagined the whole thing. EDIT: Seems to be lots of similarly confused on discussion about it, but it appears WWE did indeed announce a live King of the Ring tournament this Tuesday night.
  8. Maybe they'll make more mention of it during the PPV, but they very casually slipped in a live King of the Ring tournament beginning Tuesday night as part of the hype video of new programming every day the next week. Did anyone catch this? I love this idea! I loved when they did the Network exclusive Rusev vs. Sheamus U.S,. title change and wish they would do more in the vein of live Network exclusive wrestling specials aside from PPVs. It would be great to see a modern MSG house show broadcast, for example. Great finishing stretch to Neville vs Barrett.

  11. I think the biggest thing that bothers me about this year's Mania is there are actually a decent amount of midcard feuds that have been slowly simmering and building that could have to be brought to finality at this event....except now the participants have been scrambled just weeks before the event. The one that really stand out is The Shield vs Ryback feud. For months, since their debut, Ryback has been one of the main targets of the Shield. It's really amazing how quickly Ryback has fallen with live crowds in just a few months and I think you can directly point it to him not being in a properly organized feud since losing out against Punk. If I remember correctly, Shield was directly involved with Ryback losing his feud with Punk at a time when many people thought he could legitimately win the belt. Before the Rumble, all signs were pointing to Ryback even being involved with the title at Mania. Then, when that was clearly no longer the case, I figured "Well, they'll blow off the Shield vs Ryback feud in some fashion where Ryback is the first man to finally win against the Shield." Now.....he's taken out of the Mania 6-man tag (in which, inexplicably, Shield's recent conflict with Orton and Sheamus was more a focal point than Ryback) so that we can have Ryback vs. Mark Henry at Mania. Simply because they're two big monstrous dudes. Is that the gist of this feud? And the heel Big Show has been included in the 6-man tag as a babyface by virtue of The Shield inexplicably attacking him off the air after one of the TV shows. Also - now with The Shield seemingly suffering their first loss to random trio of Orton/Sheamus/Show, that loss won't elicit the emotional significance of Ryback & partners finally getting his revenge. As it stands, I think they're better off just having The Shield come out on top of this match. This is a weaker trio than the Sheamus/Ryback/Cena group they recently beat on PPV. Beyond that, you had Kane vs. Daniel Bryan teasing a breakup for WEEKS (which I actually like them as a team and see no reason to break them up right now, maybe in a couple months)....only to suddenly be back together. Oh, and they're defending the belts against Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston - have they EVER teamed in a TV match? Ziggler really should be involved with some sort of singles match on this card. I have no idea what they're doing with him right now. Then you have Barrett, Jericho, The Miz (who just had a nice triple threat match on RAW), Antonio Cesaro, among others. Cesaro and The Miz have had a nice feud...which seemingly ended just a couple weeks BEFORE Mania. Same with the conflict between Barrett & Sheamus. Barrett and Orton have also had a nice in-ring feud. If there wasn't now a dedicated PPV for it and Ziggler in possession of the case, this would have been a reasonable year to have a Money in the Bank match with Jericho, Ziggler, Miz, Barrett, Cesaro, someone else. All guys just a step below Heavyweight title tier clamoring for it. Hell, Ziggler can go into with the case he already has...if he wins, he now has a second backup case. Certainly has logic holes, but at least freshens up the gimmick. One interesting note: looking at recent matches - Cena vs. CM Punk, last night's triple threat, Del Rio vs Rhodes last night was good, the really good Ziggler vs. Miz match in the last two weeks - I really think there has been some excellent in-ring action on RAW leading to Mania this year. Much of it is getting lost in the shuffle due to many of us being underwhelmed with the Mania build.
  12. Man alive, not only is Rock looking huge, Punk looks like he's lost some weight the past month being out with his knee injury. Massive size-difference between them, almost jarring on the eyes. I still think having Ziggler win the Rumble would have given them more options than they have with Cena winning. They could easily set up a Cena vs Rock title match regardless of Cena winning the Rumble or not, so it would have been refreshing to see them go with the first-ever Rumble winner who also currently holds a MITB briefcase. Would have really freshened up the briefcase gimmick as well, and the intrigue as to what Ziggler's strategy would be at Mania would provide even greater interest. Plus, babyface Del Rio is really taking off and he vs. Ziggler could be a great rivalry and a fresh combination in a world of endless TV programming and repeat matchups. I was also shocked that The Shield didn't hit the ring when Cena and Ryback were the final two, if nothing more than to extend out the finishing stretch of the match in a unique way. Cena and Ryback work together to get some revenge on the group and then one goes after the other. Of course, I'm posting this as Punk and Rock battle, so maybe they'll still get involved? I would really be shocked if we don't see them once this PPV. I love the Elimination Chamber as a PPV, but really wish they would move it to the Spring or Summer instead of being between Mania and the Rumble. Takes away the glory and importance of winning the Rumble.
  13. According to one of the interviews that Cody linked, it had to do with one of the wrestlers calling himself the Fakest Fake Wrestler. Kidd filmed a promo and put it on YouTube to hype the match in advance, as well as hyping it on Twitter. Haven't watched the video in a few weeks, but nothing struck me as out of the ordinary stuff for a young wrestler to say to buikd interest in a match against a veteran. If anything, I would hope a veteran would compliment a young wrestler for taking the time to cut a promo to actually promote an indy match in advance/that the vet was coming to town instead of doing the bare minimum just sharing the event invite on Facebook, Tweeting, etc.
  14. Here's the interviews with myself and Ryan Kidd I believe Jaysin Strife is being interviewed by StuntGranny.com tomorrow. Here is an interview Strife did earlier this week: http://krymzonpain.blogspot.com/2012/07/kp...w-w-jaysin.html
  15. Update on this: Some of you may know that I'm one of the promoter's of 3XWrestling. The details Hollinger provided are very solid. Myself, Ryan Kidd and I believe Jaysin Strife have all been interviewed about the drama from this past weekend by this website: http://stuntgranny.com/ I believe they are going to compile the audio from our interviews into a podcast and put it up in the next day or two. If you didn't already read, O'Reilly and Richards sent the money back to the promoter via PayPal, but have made no public apology. I also know of multiple parties that contacted Sinclair/Ring of Honor and that Joe Koff, ROH's COO, was very interested in hearing about what happened, so it wouldn't shock me if Richards or O'Reilly heard from them.
  16. There used to be tons of fat guys who were taken seriously. Yokozuna, Earthquake, Typhoon, One Man Gang (pre-Akeem), Bam Bam Bigelow, Adrion Adonis (even despite the gay gimmick), so forth and so on. As Vince got older, he got more and more obsessed with the idea that practically everyone on the roster had to have a perfect body except for his comedy acts. The "Vince loves certain guys/creations" discussion is a great topic. but the question raised above lends us to another topic: who was the last "fat" guy taken seriously in WWE? From a pure sporting perspective, one could argue Brodus Clay, due to him being undefeated and beating the hell out of people. However, he clearly isn't being positioned as a title contender at the moment. He definitely is getting over as both a comedic dancer and an asskicker though, so I'm excited to see where he is a year from now. The most recent that immediately comes to mind is Umaga. He wasn't so much as fat as just a really big dude who wasn't stacked with the typical WWE muscles. Umaga's big push was over 5 years ago. Anyone in the last 5 years?
  17. The fact that people are raising such a big stink about Lesnar losing proves that some fans just don't pay attention to anything but surface level detail in wrestling right now. Even in losing, Lesnar did more in that match to comes across as the meanest, baddest competitor in WWE right now than anyone who has a WON a match has all year. Cena took massive punishment from Lesnar throughout the match, unlike we've seen anyone take in years. But, look at the final sequence of events that caused Lesnar to lose: - Lesnar leaps over the steps in the middle of the ring with way too much momentum, Cena actually lowbridge's the rope out of instinct to avoid an even worse collision, they both fall to the floor with Lesnar getting the worst end - he does a flip tumbling to the arena floor and lands hard on his knee. Granted, when he ist able to stand up, he raises his arms and smiles, but I think this dramatic botch amplified the drama even more. - Lesnar sets up the same leaping move, only this time Cena crushes him in the face with a steel chain punch while Lesnar is in the air. Lesnar is now bleeding badly from his forehead. - With Lesnar now dazed, Cena slams him hard onto the steel ring steps and pins him on the steps. Now, how the hell wouldn't anyone lose after all that in the final 2 minutes? It took a monstrous effort and a dose of "right place, right time" for Cena to put the monster away. And Cena clearly looked like he took the much worse ass kicking after the match, but the fact he was able to pull out a win makes him look super tough, while Brock still looks a destructive force. They both win. There's lots of ways they can go with this booking wise between Lesnar and Johnny Ace. Hell, one other neat side story is it took the third ref of the match to count the fall, and technically both Lesnar's shoulders weren't down on the steps - the first ref was bumped out and Lesnar crushed the second with a frustration clothesline. Lesnar can go so far as to claim it was a team effort to keep him down and this can go so far as to be changed into a "MMA vs. Wrestling" angle if they really wanted too right now, which would be new and fresh. A friend pointed out to me that both Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz's contracts are up and they told UFC that they have other opportunities to explore...hmm. Both have both expressed interest in wrestling.
  18. Just from what I remember, it is pretty amazing to look back on Lesnar's run to his first WWE title. Perfect combo of him not only being an incredible, awe-inspiring performer, but being presented in awesome fashion by WWE: - total unknown, debuts night after Wrestlemania 18 in 2002, absolutely destroying Spike Dudley and others who were in a hardcore match. I'll note that pairing him with Heyman immediately helped him get noticed by the crowd beyond just being a total ass-kicker. - Spends much of Spring just devastating super-popular Matt and Jeff Hardy, with lots of KO finishes against either guy. I can't believe the WWE hasn't done a run of KO finishes to build a monster since then (have they?). I remember a house show I went to around this time, the ref called for the bell after Lesnar just dominated Jeff Hardy with numerous high-impact moves and crowd left the building in total awe of this wrestler that had only been on TV a month or two. - Wins the King of the Ring tournament in June by beating Rob Van Dam, which I remember being stunned that a guy wins the big tournament PPV main event only approximately four months into being on TV. - Despite his dominance and build, I was really surprised that he won the WWE title from The Rock at Summerslam 2002, less than 6 months since his debut on WWE TV. Then in October, he beats the Undertaker in his own match, Hell in a Cell. And then you think about all the memorable high profile matches and moments he had in, really, just a two year run from 02-04. This run is incredible when you think that the modern equivalent would be.....Ryback? Damien Sandow? Tensai? But, even they have already been on TV in the past in different gimmicks. Really, the booking with Lesnar only started to get screwy late fall 2002, with the face turn and such. But the Angle-Lesnar Wrestlemania 19 match was great and Lesnar was way over at the time. It's really incredible that not only did he accomplish all this, but he performed at such a high-level the whole time that he clearly not only looked like he belonged, but that he was one of the best.
  19. Results from Perry Saturn's first match in the Midwest in almost a decade. He looked incredibly impressive for having only wrestled twice since returning to wrestling this past fall after being away for about 8 years. Everything he did was really crisp and the crowd was waaaayyyy into him. Thanks to the packed crowd that attended the event! 3XW Reign of Terror III - February 24 - Des Moines, Iowa 1. Triple Threat match - Jaysin Strife beat "The Laotian Sensation" Ricky Kwong (with Chad Mylan) and Ray Stryker after pinning Stryker following a leaping DDT off the middle turnbuckle. After the match, Kwong attacked Stryker with nunchucks. 2. The Mauler (with Chad Mylan) beat Sir Bradley Charles by pinfall with a schoolboy rollup following a distraction caused by another Arik Cannon video playing on the video screen to capture SBC's attention. 3. Angelus Layne beat Kiandra by pinfall following a Memento Mori DDT. 4. 3XW Tag Team titles - The Electric Centaurs (Jimmy Rockwell & Mike Sydal) beat American Ground & Air (Ben Sailer & Nate Bash) to win the titles by pinfall after a flurry of offensive moves culminated with Rockwell hitting Sailer with a Rock On (swanton) bomb for the pin. 5. "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt beat "The Unbreakable" Zach Thompson by pinfall following a Lightning Spiral. Following the bout, Wyatt challenged Mark Sterling to an Ironman match rematch on March 30 in Des Moines. Sterling said no, leading to a massive locker room clearing brawl between the two. Wyatt announced that by the end of the night, he would get Sterling to accept the match. 6. The American Bulldogs (Maddog McDowell & Jon West with Skylar Pierce) defeated Genesis (Devin Carter & Casanova) by pinfall after McDowell hit Carter with the Rabies Shot and West hit Casanova with the Patriot Act. 7. Perry Saturn, making his return to wrestling in the Midwest for the first time in almost a decade, defeated Gage Octane (with Todd Countryman) in a great match by schoolboy rollup after failed interference by Countryman. 8. 3XW Heavyweight champion "The Ironman" Mark Sterling defeated "The Canadian Sex Icon" Ryan Slade by pinfall following a spear. After the bout, Wyatt's music hit and he attack Sterling from behind, coming in from the crowd. Wyatt nailed Sterling in the back with a chair and handcuffed him to the bottom rope. Wyatt continually threatened to harm Sterling until he accepted Wyatt's Ironman match challenge. A variety of 3XW stars came out in individual intervals to try to convince Wyatt to stop his assault, only for Wyatt to viciously assault every man who came to the ring. Finally, as Wyatt was setting up to bash one chair into another chair into Sterling's groin, Sterling finally accepted the bout. Next event is March 30 in Des Moines, featuring Jeremy Wyatt vs. Mark Sterling in a 60 min No DQ Ironman match for the 3XW Heavyweight title!

  21. I don't think it reflects poorly on him, more so on the producers of the show and decision makers at NBC. Rogan's simply the host of the program, I doubt he even has much say in the actual competitions. But, man alive, how the hell did it make it this close to actually airing!?! That's an idea that should have been scrapped before it was even filmed. And then to make it through multiple channels of approval is insane. Honestly, drinking donkey semen isn't too far removed from Rogan having to tell the contestants "OK, to win the next competition, you must eat this entire plate of human shit. Fastest to swallow it without puking wins the cash!"
  22. To further develop something Jerry briefly touched on, it's not even just the "look", the colorful characters of the 80s and 90s WWF people have fond memories of. Look at 1980s NWA territories - tons of wrestlers everywhere in plain black, red, white, blue tights. Yet, depending on the territory, every person had a distinguishable gimmick due to the fact that the wrestler was given promo time to explain who he is, what his focus is, his background, etc. And people would still pop today if they saw them appear in something like the Rumble because they've remembered all this info for 25+ years! I think promo time would go a long ways right now - even a return to the 20-30 second promo boxes in the corner as they make their entrance. Or, simply have these midcarders take the mic for a minute before or after matches. Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston are at least known as high flyers. But look at Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, even The Miz right now - now that Rhodes dropped the "mask" gimmick, they all seem like the exact same heel character with the same motivations. Even though the broadcasters mention Swagger's amateur credentials, he doesn't seem to do much in the ring to set his abilities apart from the others I listed. This is exactly why your local indy is working harder to try to book anyone who took part in Wrestlemania 3 compared to any WWE low-to-midcarder the past five years. People will still come out to see the classic gimmick, but you'll be lucky to draw much beyond your core fanbase for people like Bam Neely, Kenny Dykstra or the Bashams - regardless of talent - because they aren't presented very distinctive on TV (obviously, Kenny had a memorable run in the Spirit Squad, but he quickly fit into the cookie-cutter mold when that gimmick was dropped). They had a good thing going in 2005 with the development of Chris Masters and Carlito on TV. And those are honestly the first two names that came to my mind as recent WWE midcarders with clear characters/gimmicks. That was 7 years ago! It's tough for even dedicated fans to pick out the differences in Trent Baretta, Caylen Croft, or Curt Hawkins, not to mention the arrivals of the "one name" Latino/Puerto Rican contingent of Hunico, Epico, Primo and now Camacho.
  23. I think the reaction to Sheamus winning shows a clear divide between the fans that watch RAW and the smaller group of fans that also watch Smackdown. I think if you watch RAW almost exclusively, even though Sheamus wins the majority of the time, he's still presented as a midcard-level wrestler on RAW right now because he hasn't been featured in the WWE title scene for some time. Personally, I don't watch Smackdown nearly as much as I intend to, but from reading reports it appears Sheamus is presented at a much higher level. It's ridiculous that more people (myself included) don't watch Smackdown now because they make it incredibly easy to watch the show anytime you want on WWE's YouTube channel. No, I don't have any idea why I don't see it more often because I watch other wrestling on YouTube all the time and I even like many of the primarily Smackdown wrestlers. RAW, however, has been on at the same time on Monday night for almost 20 years now and I definitely believe people are waaaaay more conditioned (and quite frankly, available) to watch wrestling on Monday night at that time compared to Friday evening. That being said - with Cena vs. Rock being the known main event of Wrestlemania and the possible Big Show vs. Shaq match, I think this was a perfect year to have someone younger on the roster or even more surprising win the Rumble because it honestly won't have a major effect on Mania viewership this year anyway. Hell, in hindsight with them not having Del Rio win the belt at Mania last year, they should have just had Santino win it at the end in 2011 to give the Rumble that "anything can happen!" feel and have it be the truth for once. I personally was rooting for the "Jericho wins without touching a single wrestler scenario." I envisioned him coming out at around 25, doing his cheering act all around ringside and then jumping in the ring when it came down to him and two others....except the other two manage to eliminate one another, leaving Jericho victorious. I was more curious to see how far they could go with him literally not touching another wrestler - imagine if they could make it all the way to Wrestlemania without him involved with any physicality on TV? That's probably too far fetched, but I do find it strange that he ran out and immediately competed as normal, like everything he built on TV since his return never even happened.
  24. Thanks to the huge crowd that attended Divide & Conquer 2 in Des Moines. 3XW will hold two events in February. Reign of Terror III is on Friday, Feb. 24 in Des Moines featuring former ECW, WCW, and WWE star Perry Saturn. 3XW also makes its debut in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 25. More info about these cards can be found at http://www.3XWrestling.com Divide & Conquer 2 Results - Jan 27, 2012 - Des Moines, Iowa 1. In a 2011 King of Des Moines Tournament Finals rematch, "2011 King of Des Moines" Ryan Slade defeated "The Unbreakable" Zach Thompson by pinfall following the Ryplex. 2. Casanova & Gage Octane (w/ Todd Countryman, representing Genesis) defeated Ray Stryker & Barry Ryte, pinning Stryker after a phenomenal double-team slam while Casanova held the young rookie in his trademark Sleeperhold. 3. In their 3XW debuts, Miss Natural defeated Stacey O'Brien by pinfall following a Swinging Fisherman's Neckbreaker in a hard-hitting match 4. "The Laotian Sensation" Ricky Kwong (w/ Chad Mylan, representing the MMA) defeated Sir Bradley Charles by pinfall after a rollup. Kwong was assisted by a video of 3XW Pure Wrestling champion Arik Cannon yelling at his rival SBC playing on the video screen, causing SBC to be distracted. Prior to the match, Mylan debuted his own personal solid gold microphone, which he claims is the only one in the world. 5. "The Ironman" Mark Sterling successfully defended the 3XW Heavyweight championship over Maddog McDowell (w/Skylar Pierce, representing the American Bulldogs), pinning McDowell following his signature spear. After the bout, Sterling continued to attack McDowell. Skylar Pierce attempted to help his athlete, only for Sterling to blast him with a forearm to the face. McDowell's partner, Jon West, ran to the ring to help, but Sterling had time to setup an attack, crushing West's neck with The Disaster Piece. As Sterling began to lock the Markshooter on West, Ryan Slade ran out with the Canadian flag, causing Sterling to bail from the ring. 6. In non-title action, 3XW Tag Team champions American Ground & Air (Ben Sailer & Nate Bash, representing Genesis) went to a 15-minute draw with "The Rockstar" Jimmy Rockwell & "Rock n' Roll" Mike Sydal in an excellent match. The closing seconds of the bout saw Sailer locked in Rockwell's Boston Crab and possibly on the verge of submission as time expired. 7. Jaysin Strife beat "The American Fury" Jon West (w/ Skylar Pierce, representing the American Bulldogs) by pinfall after hitting West with a devastating leaping DDT off the middle turnbuckle in a bout that featured many spectacular moves. West favored his neck throughout the bout after the attack by Mark Sterling earlier in the evening. 8. "Torturous" Tony Sly beat "Delicious" Devin Carter (w/ Todd Countryman, representing Genesis) by pinfall after nailing him with the Skid Row. Zach Thompson attempted to interfer in another effort to try to rejoin Genesis, but Sly knocked him off the apron. Todd Countryman's attempt to interfer failed as well. 9. The first NWA World's Heavyweight title match in Des Moines since 1986 featured a very controversial ending that saw Adam Pearce retain the championship. After referee Jeromy Robb was inadvertently crushed by both men in the corner, Jeremy Wyatt applied the Crossface on Pearce, forcing him to submit - except no referee was there to see it! Mark Sterling ran out, but inadvertently nailed Pearce with the Spear when aiming for Wyatt! Wyatt cover Pearce and referee Steve Biley ran out to count the pinfall! Wyatt had won the NWA World's Heavyweight championship and the fans went wild as Wyatt celebrated with the championship! Robb, however, conferenced with Steve Biley and notified the ring announcer that he saw Sterling hit Pearce with the Spear and that Wyatt had in fact been disqualified! As a result, Pearce retains the title. As Pearce lay unconscious on the mat, Wyatt through the ropes onto Sterling outside the ring. Sterling and Wyatt brawled all over the arena before returning to the ring, where Pearce clipped Wyatt's knee from behind and both Pearce and Sterling assaulted Wyatt, culminating in a double-team Markshooter/Crossface combo. Pearce forced Wyatt to stare at the NWA title as they held him in the submission hold. More analysis and photos of this historic title match can be found in Brian Kelley's coverage here: http://missouriwrestlingrevival.wordpress....classic-at-3xw/
  25. 3XW Video Updates: Four-time NWA World's Heavyweight champion "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce comes to Des Moines to defend the title for the first time since 1986! After an incredible 33-minute match, "The Ironman" Mark Sterling defeated "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt to win his first 3XW Heavyweight championship at Holiday Havoc 3. Immediately after the event, 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman caught up with both Sterling and Wyatt, still nursing a badly-injured knee, to offer a major opportunity.....
