  1. Man, I wish the DVD board didn't crash. I had a review of Trips/Austin No Way Out 2001 that I wish I could post now. Gist was first fall was pretty damn good but the second and third falls weren't. And since when is HHH great at showing hatred? Tim
  2. El Hijo del Santo/Atlantis vs. Fuerza Guerrera/El Rubio Lobo (1984) Meant to talk about this a few weeks ago but never got around to it so this is just a few brief thoughts. 1. This is an exceptional match, especially for 1984. The first fall is 13 minutes of technico offense with variations of headscissors, arm drags, etc. The ending of the match in the third fall is spectacular. 2. Fuerza, Santo, and Atlantis were WAY ahead of their time, maybe more so than their All Japan Women counterparts (minus the suplexes) in terms of innovation and creativity that looks incredible today. 3. Need so much more Lucha in the 80's. Villanos/Brazos Hair vs. Hair match has finally been found and is a great match, but is so hard to watch. But I would rather have a hard time watching something than not have it at all. Tim

  4. Thanks Loss for the link. Alvarez seems to have a really hard time coming up with anything in regards to your "If people think Hogan is great and his matches are great, then they must be" argument and I am only on page 3 of the thread.

  8. "Don't see why not. Mark henry has been amazing in recent weeks. I've been so impressed by his string of brilliant matches, and he plays the monster heel as well as anybody I've ever seen. Much better than Shawn Michaels, who is an awful wrestler who doesn't match up to Mark Henry on any accounts in the ring. Well, that's if you take any notice of the fools at DVDVR of course." Was it really necessary to troll in this thread?

  10. Smackdown continued to obliterate Raw last night with Finlay/Hardy and Rey/Henry.

  13. This PPV really isn't different from the other TNA PPV's in that I really don't care. This is coming from someone who bought EVERY SINGLE WCW PPV from September 1998 - March 2001. Why? At least is was offering something different from the WWE. During late 1998, Goldberg and a re-energized Ric Flair were countering crappy Russo booking. 1999 main events sucked but you could always count on Benoit, Rey, Kidman, etc. 2000 when WWE became a little more wrestling focused, Russo fucked up WCW but it was different. 2001 saw solid booking and the re-vitalization of the Cruisers. I don't see anything in TNA that I can't get in ROH (plus done better). Maybe that will change down the line as TNA continues to "grow" but I somehow doubt it. Tim
  14. "I love Triple H. He cares more about the World Heavyweight Title than any Champion has in five years. He is a great heel Champion, he has a good finish, his offense is 1980's NWA to quote a friend." Oh dear....
  15. "Wow, Tim, Memphis has really become the death of you, hasn't it? Are you still finding it difficult to enjoy non-80s Memphis and NWA footage?" Not so much now. I watched Misawa vs. Taue from 2/28/93 and enjoyed the hell out of it. Also watched the 11/30/93 Baba/Hanson vs. Misawa/Kobashi and dug it more than ever. Now juniors, whether it is New Japan, US Indy, Lucha, is not going well at all. But I am still so heavily influenced by Memphis right now that both RnR v Savage/Poffo matches are still two of my favorite matches ever for the time being. I can really only add Eddy/Rey from Havoc 97 as a match that I have watched way too many times but still love it so much. And I still need to see Bret/Yoko. I got the Bret DVD for Christmas via my brother and watched the Nash match up against the Nash/Michaels from 5 months later. Bret/Nash is more dull compared to the wild bumps Michaels takes, but way better in terms of building the drama. With all the crap Bret had to work with, I wish he would have got a sustained run somewhere else where the opponents weren't Nash or Undertaker. Tim
  16. I finally got to watch Hidaka/Fujita vs. Kenta/Marifuji from the Differ Cup Finals. What is any good about the match? Lots of random, very spotty juniors sequences for the whole match. Tim
  17. Kenta/Marifuji vs. Hidaka/Fujita (5/8/05 - NOAH) Don't know what to say about this other than it was long, was full of juniors spots, and didn't do anything for me. If you want a Kenta match, the Suwa match is where to go and I am guessing Danielson/Marifuji from ROH will satisfy a Marifuji craving (if there is such a thing).
  18. I think Hanson/Kobashi deserves on the list with the top AJPW matches. I am not into AJW 90's right now (deeply into AJW 80's though) so ignoring those matches, I think although 12/6/96 is the best of the matches, my favorite right now may be Kobashi/Hanson. I think 6/9/95 is most easily accessible to anyone but would put 6/3/94 above it as a more complex, history filled match that took advantage of EVERY single movement. But commenting on AJPW right now is hard since I would rather watch Rock n Roll Express vs. Savage/Poffo before I watched any of the AJPW classics. Tim
  19. Rave went from working shitty Kendo KaShin imitation offense to working old school heel with mostly just punches and 1-2 big moves. That warrants being praised.
  20. Abyss in TNA is horrible. Abyss in ROH is pretty good.
  21. I think it means when you are in a promotion that is almost exclusivly washed up guys on top (WCW) or kick/punch style (WWF), using a few holds on the mat makes you a "pure" wrestler. Justin T hating on worked shoots is always something that makes me laugh.
  22. Not a hate post thread, but I don't want to clog up any good posts with this. But if you are bored. DEAN MALENKO. #1 TECHNICAL WRESTLER EVER. http://www.oratoryweb.net/oforums/index.ph...60entry716472 Tim
  23. DId MItchell every fully review Joe vs. Kobashi?
  24. Yep, Monday will add to this.
  25. Have you watched the Music Video for the 12/85 Loser Leaves Town match? It shows a lot of spots that are cut out of the match and is one of the best music videos I have seen to cover a match. Tim
