  1. I think my son & I are going to come down from Ames for the 3XW show next weekend, Cody. Been meaning to check you guys out for awhile, but haven't had the chance yet.

  3. Masked Superstar vs. Marion Crumbley (sp?) Couldn't find it on youtube, but Crumbley has a unique bumping style, to say the least. Superstar punches him, and Crumbley jumps into the air and then falls down.
  4. Carl DeMarco, former WWE Canada head. They said he and Shane met with UFC in separate meetings.
  5. When Robinson was inducted into the Thesz/Tragos HOF a few years ago, he had recently had surgery on his throat. When he gave his speech, Baron Von Raschke kept heckling him by yelling "Speak up!"
  6. "AWA -- Verne Gagne is planning Wrestlerock III to air on PPV. The show will be in the 55,000-seat Metrodome in Bloomington, MN, and will have ZZ Top in concert. The show was originally going to happen on election night, but it was changed to two days earlier. Supposedly, wrestlers from five promotions will appear on the show, but the only confirmed match Dave knows about is Madusa Miceli vs Magnificent Mimi." When did WrestleRock II happen? I just remember the 1986 installment. At least Verne was going to have a rock band this time.

  8. I have this handheld, but I forgot that they battled for the MTW Championship in this match. Who in the hell yells "boring" in the first 30 seconds of a wrestling match? Jannetty may have done the worst strut in history. I loved the "Simply Sensational" Al Snow heel gimmick. I really liked this match. They did a lot of good double cross spots, teasing the double superkick and going to the double dropkick and clotheslines. I forgot how much of a flier Snow was earlier in his career. He got some serious height on his springboard legdrop and frog splash. I was surprised by the pop for the finish. Good selection for a match that some may have not seen before.
  9. My first thought, is that Riki Rachtman on color? Yes it is! I thought this match moved a little too slow. I didn't realize it was a 2 out of 3 falls match until Armstrong took over with the headlocks halfway through. I was actually disappointed to hear the annoucement, because I wasn't getting into the match. I think the early part was so much Muta offense and so little from Armstrong that they lost me. Also, you bring Muta over from Japan to showcase his small package skills for the first fall finish? End it with a handspring elbow to save the moonsault for the second fall. I don't recall seeing this match when it originally happened but I think I would have been disappointed with that finish. This match just didn't do it for me. I was never able to get into it. Nothing bad about it, but nothing I'd go out of my way to see again.
  10. This ring announcer is great! I liked this more than the famous Tiger Mask-Dynamite Kid MSG match. I never cared for Monsoon's announcing, his claims that the ref should step in to break up the early matwork are annoying. Too bad they blew the camera shot when Gilbert went out of the ring. Great back and forth match, but the three count seemed fast. I was surprised by how even the match was. I was expecting TM to dominate, but Gilbert held his own.
  11. Albano's yelling "no, no, no!" into the mic is hilarious! Never has a man drawn more heat by saying so little. And I love Koloff's "satanic" cape. I also enjoyed the headscissors spots that opened things up that others mentioned. It looked like the ref could have counted three during one of the Gotch lift/short arm scissors spots but held up since that wasn't supposed to happen. Backlund's work of the leg got better as the match progressed. Watching everyone leap to their feet as Koloff scales the buckle for the top rope knee drop is great. They all know it's what beat Bruno, and the crowd thinks it could happen again. It's weird to have the doctor check the cuts and not stop the match, I thought they'd end it then. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good match. It started to drag a little in the middle with some of Backlund's leg work, but picked up at the end. Good showing by both guys. One question, why was Albano sent back to the dressing room while Skoaland allowed to stay in Backlund's corner?
  12. My order shipped yesterday. I'll let you know.
