  1. Trying to sign up, and both the "buy now" and "free trial" buttons keep crashing. Must be a busy morning!
  2. Good luck! I gave up reading the F4W a long time ago, because it was mostly Observer lite. I'm sure you'll bring in the different perspective that's needed.
  3. I think I herniated a disc in my back just watching that.
  4. Very sad. I was lucky enough to have met Mad Dog at the Thesz/Tragos HOF a number of times. It was hard watching his health decline so much the past few years. This year at the banquet, he was introduced and given a standing ovation. He was at the table next to me, and I heard him say quietly, "Very impressive!" Growing up in the AWA territory, he was definitely a name that everyone knew.
  5. Got this book a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it. It's amazing all of the stuff that Cornette hung on to over the years, even the layout pages for his arena programs. Definitely worth checking out, in my opinion. I think the funniest story is Cornette talking about how he took a pay cut to go from ringside photographer/arena program editor when he became a manager.
  6. The IOC voted to keep wrestling in the Olympics. Very excited to see this happen! http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/2...;nclick_check=1
  7. I grew up in northern Iowa, which was part of the AWA. When I talk wrestling with my co-workers here in central Iowa, the two wrestlers they always mention are Bulldog Bob Brown and Rufus R. Jones. I think I'll stick with Bock and Martel!
  8. Yes, and I create many of the card stats for the LOW series. Cool. I try to play the game whenever possible as a way to get away from computer monitors and TV. I was going somewhere with this when posting the question and have totally forgotten where I was going with it I'm intrigued - so there is a series of LOW card games? Anyone have a link to more info (or where to get?)? I searched Amazon and eBay and only Amazon shed a little light. http://filsingergames.com/legends-of-wrestling/
  9. Holler when you think of it!
  10. Thanks for posting these, great to have them again.

  12. I try to keep my twins out of the room when wrestling is on, because the boy tries to imitate moves on his sister. Last spring, they were both in the room when Ryback came on, and hearing them chant "Feed Me More" with the fist pumps was pretty funny.
  13. Went to three indy shows in July. 3XWrestling on the 26th, and two Impact Pro shows earlier in the month. Between those two groups, I usually hit one indy show per month.
  14. Congrats to the upcoming new parents! I have a 13 year old son and 3 1/2 year old twins (boy/girl), so I pretty much never see anything I want to watch. My son watches Raw and Smackdown, so I might watch a little bit with him when he's watching it on the DVR. For some reason, my son is really interested in getting the War Games Blu-Ray, so when we pick that up, maybe I can sneak some older footage in there. He usually doesn't care for pre-2000.

  18. It's not delivered in any format, it's just posted on the page like any story on the site. I copy and paste it into a word doc I set up that looks pretty identical (same title page), change the font size and save it as a PDF to read on my iPad. Takes a couple of minutes each week and I don't have to worry about ripped pages anymore. PM me with your email address if you'd like a copy of the template.
  19. Anyone else read this yet? Got mine in the mail last weekend, already finished it. It's a quick read, but a very cool book in my opinion. It's basically the history of the Missouri Title, starting with an early version of the title that predates the famous St. Louis version. Then it covers the tournament for the St. Louis version and goes over every match and angle, including TV squashes, that the Missouri champion had during their reign. Each champion's reign starts with a photo with them with the championship belt. There's lots of quotes along with the way from the champs themselves, or other challengers at the time. Some of the quotes are from other books, like Ric Flair or Jack Brisco's biographies. Just a really neat format, would be cool to see other championships get the same treatment. You can get it at Crowbar Press: http://www.crowbarpress.com/index.html

  24. I absolutely agree! It was pretty sad to watch. Here's a question that struck me a few weeks ago. As the story goes, Hulk Hogan was scheduled to headline AWA shows in December 1983. Jumbo Tsuruta grabbed the AWA title in February 1984. Has anyone ever heard when the Bock to Jumbo title switch was agreed upon? I find it interesting that Jumbo may have been AWA Champion while Hulk Hogan, a New Japan headliner, was in the AWA. Just wondering if the timing of these events has ever been investigated. Would Jumbo have won the AWA title if Hogan had stayed in the AWA instead of jumping to the WWF?
