Wrestlemania 35: The KawadaSmile tribute thread
stunning_grover replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in WWE
So I got home late... about an hour ago... I skipped through most of the stuff so I could join in progress and start watching live while knowing what happened earlier on the show... I watched the women's battle royal match... I was hoping Io Shirai would have been in that match (but, she wasn't)... still, I thought this year's women's battle royal was better worked than last year's... Alex Bliss being the host of WrestleMania is awesome... it was surreal to see her pose with Hulk Hogan! Then I started watching live... near the end of the Miz vs. Shane match... that finish was pretty crazy! This women's tag match should be interesting... -

Does anyone have any recommendations for 2004-2010 joshi puroresu? The reason I'm asking this is because 2004-2010 seems to be kinda like the "dark ages" of joshi puroresu. It's an era nobody really talks about (when it comes to joshi puroresu), as far as I know. ARSION was gone and STARDOM had not started yet. It's also the era where I didn't really pay much attention to current pro wrestling in general (so maybe that's partially the reason why I'm not too familiar with those years). Any particular workers/matches/shows/promotions that stand out during these years? Ideally, I'd like to learn more about the best workers, matches, shows and promotions of each year during the 2004-2010 time period. I could totally imagine Kana, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Meiko Satomura having interesting matches, for example. But, I could be wrong. I hope the experts of (modern) joshi puroresu on this forum can help me out.

I was in Chicago for All In and also for the Starrcast convention. I had a great time. I have to say that I'm the type of fan who tends to enjoy live shows more than watching shows on TV. So, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I would have watched it on TV. For example, when I'm at home just being a guy behind his laptop, I guess I'm a lot more picky when I watch stuff. However, when I'm an actual ticket paying fan in attendance, I'm trying to enjoy things as much as possible and I'm more open to enjoying different things. My favorite match was Kenny Omega vs. Pentagon Jr. and I think that was the only match I'd like to re-watch at some point. Other than that, I think it was more the vibe of the entire event that made it memorable. Don't get me wrong, there were other matches that I also really enjoyed watching live, but, now that I'm home, I don't really feel the urge to re-watch anything other than possibly the Kenny Omega match (I guess because I'm a Kenny Omega mark). The crowd was great from start to finish. I'd say that the guys who organized it definitely got the job done. Starrcast was lots of fun as well. I think the people who organized it ended up being a bit overwhelmed, but I think they did a great job. It was great to meet wrestlers and fans. The vibe was positive and great. I think it's great they were able to pull this off. I'd say it was a big success and I think a lot of people were very happy. I'm glad I made the trip. I had a blast. For whatever it's worth, I'd certainly consider it a historical weekend. They pulled off what they wanted to pull off and the build-up had a satisfying conclusion, I'd say. So, here's what I think about the all-time great wrestling show discussion... One of the all-time great wrestling shows strictly from an in-ring perspective? No. It's not even the best show of this year. One of the all-time great wrestling shows from the perspective of a fan being there live experiencing it in person? Yes, absolutely!

I don't know... The fans paid for their ticket. They enjoyed the show their way. That's all that really matters to WWE probably. I know it was a weird crowd reaction with the whole countdown thing, but, maybe everyone was just drunk and had a good time. I'm sure WWE doesn't really worry about it too much. People watched on the Network, people bought tickets to the live show and we'll all be here again next month discussion the next PPV on this forum. Just another WWE PPV, really. If anything, the WWE has learned a valuable lesson; no clocks, unless it's the Royal Rumble.

Less than two months to go until All In (and the accompanying Starrcast convention). In case if anyone is wondering... At Stubhub, many tickets are available with prices currently ranging from $130 to $1, 750... I'm actually looking forward to All In and the Starrcast convention. At Starrcast, there will be some interesting meet & greet sessions… legends like Terry Funk, Jerry Lawler, Sean Waltman, etc. will be having meet & greet sessions, as well as the actual All In talent, like Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Rey Misterio Jr., etc. Not sure how many more people here are considering going to All In/Starrcast or not... By the way, apparently the event will be shown on fite.tv

Io Shirai and Nicole Matthews in the same tournament.... wow. This is going to be great.
-
Alexa Bliss won.
-
Mella is money...
-
Maybe the Jeff Hardy match was supposed to go 20 minutes... LOL.
-
That's it? They end early??
-
Wait... WTF... Still 20 minutes left...
-
Oh... we have overtime
-
Here we go...
-
10 seconds...
-
Too late!
-
This match has been all action.. and they're tied... oh no... my prediction is coming true... they're going to go overtime?
-
Thank God! That's good to know. I used to watch WWF 'religiously' from 1994-1997 and then kinda on and off after 1997, so, I must have missed all the other Iron Man Matches. LOL.

The Royal Rumble in 2019 is to be fun... it's in a stadium, which is able to hold more than 50, 000 people... I can already imagine everyone doing this countdown and buzzer sound... lol...
-
Wow... 6 falls already... 3-3...
-
I like how they're having so many falls... especially since I grew up with the WrestleMania XII Iron Man match, which had no falls until the 62nd minute... LOL.
-
I like how the crowd is doing the Royal Rumble countdown thing... LOL.
