Missy is fun at interplaying with Flair here. Whatever was going on behind the scenes, the early 1991 Flair we have seen seems more like his 80's hey day stuff than much of the last half of 1990.

Work in this was really good and besides Arn/Tully and maybe the Andersons, Flair/Barry is probably my favorite Horseman team. They seem to compliment each other really well. Finish was stupid and El Gigante has reached his shelf life in my eyes.

Thanks for the kind words JazeUSA.

This is a great tv match that showcased the best aspects of Windham and Pillman. Barry was relentless on the arm/shoulder work and him having to result to pulling the tights to get the victory was super. The post match with Pillman coming back was awesome. They created a big issue feud with just this match and the callbacks to wargames.

[1991-04-06-USWA-Memphis TV] USWA fans / Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Sad that the MSC is no more right now but they did a good job of creating a community atmosphere and highlighting the assets of the new building. Some of these fans comments would be touted if they happened today. Lawler vs. Embry clips looked good and the match seemed more heated than the cage match we just saw in Texas. -
[1991-04-06-USWA-Memphis TV] Doctor announcement / Interview: Jerry Lawler
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
I liked that we got a quick commercial for the Doctors practice spliced in. Lawler is forced to take 4 weeks off but he is not retiring because they Dr. is putting him on a regiment to recovery. -
[1991-04-06-WWF-Superstars] Ted DiBiase vs Reno Riggins
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
This felt like the Post Mania Raw of its day with this Superstars. Piper and Savage exiting the booth is great storyline continuity. THe squash was actually good that Dibiase did to. -
[1991-04-06-WWF-Superstars] Jake Roberts and Earthquake
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Damian is one of the most feared members of the WWF locker room. I think the snake fearing stuff was such a crutch to start an issue that they kept going back to the well. I admit that it still worked for me as hokey as it is because Jake had an edge to him that most babyfaces in the WWF didn't this time where he would use the psychological advantage of his friend Damian. -
[1991-04-06-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: The Undertaker
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Taker is the first guest on the parlor and lays out the issue to the Warrior. I thought this was ok as the first long term promo the taker delivered. -
[1991-04-06-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Jumbo Tsuruta vs Toshiaki Kawada
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
After watching a ton of NWA lately, this match was pretty refreshing for me to see the ace of a promotion have a competitive match but certainly dictate the action and feel dominant throughout. Kawada had a lot of nice moments in this but Jumbo was always able to weather the storm and eventually pick up the victory. Jumbo especially stomping to the back clearing his head was awesome. Great match.- 15 replies

[1991-04-05-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry (Cage)
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Good match and while the mic stuff usually doesn't bother me if it is a small thing, I did think they did go to excessive lengths here. The cage also felt like a tacked on stipulation and you didn't feel the heat or necessity of it especially since we had interference at the finish.- 11 replies

[1991-04-05-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Low tech version of their match but good stuff overall and it was refreshing to see how much they had improved and gained confidence in themselves in just one year. Kobashi is still fiery but a little more focused and restrained. Misawa has taken the biggest leap from a junior wrestler that could look frantic and be inconsistent to someone who has enough confidence in his ability to work a match in this fashion that is 80% dominated by matwork.- 11 replies

[1991-04-02-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Didn't remember this at all and was weary given the setting but this was great. Hogan has a different temperament and the Slaughter vs. Hogan feud is really hot with the focus more about the in WWF universe components then the outside real life events. -
[1991-04-01-SWS-Wrestle Dream in Kobe] Hulk Hogan vs Yoshiaki Yatsu
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Too short to be anything substantial but a great, holy crap these guys wrestled match and Hogan looke really sharp considering he was just in a beefy brawl the night before. Good technical stuff but Yatsu really lost a lot of his substantial stature from 1989 to here. -

I would never call Jericho vs. PUnk a MOTYC but it was a good match. I have really liked this show so far though as all the matches have been good minus Kane/Ambrose and the crowd has been hot.

[1991-03-31-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Bobby Heenan and Andre the Giant
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Seriously did we miss something because this felt like a time warp to the year before. It is pretty definitive when someone keeps slapping you that you are not on the same page. This seemed odd. -

IRS desk looks like some of my colleagues. This character really hits close to home because there is a ton of IRS's at my work. -
[1991-03-31-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Cant believe I dont remember this and it was awesome. The visual of Hogan opening the door and seeing Adnan and Slaughter was creepy and the fireball looked great putting to rest any thoughts of Hogan moving on to someone else after WM . -

[1991-03-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Tommy Rich vs Arn Anderson
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Good tv match with a lot of grounded body control work. I didn't mind the Sid interference that much as he got in and out pretty quick. I thought Rich looked really valiant going to a time limit draw.- 10 replies

[1991-03-30-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Barry Windham
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I like Dusty as an interviewer and can't recall him doing it before. I always liked how they built Windham's potential and athletic ability throughout his career even when he was a heel. I would have liked to have seen where this stuff was leading as this was an interesting start that could have been a cool angle.- 6 replies

Funeral Parlor has now replaced the Brother Love show as the premiere interview vehicle in the WWF. I always thought the set looked awesome for this with the green fog and the beginning show with everyone being afraid to come on was very unique and smart for WWF standards.
