  1. Not enough "hot moves" probably. Also, the fact that wrestling STILL only gets 1/2 the per-viewer ad rates is crazy. The economic demographics aren't *that* bad...
  2. Whatever happened to Steamboat not being able to wrestle because of his old Lloyd's of London insurance policy payout? Meltzer brings it up vis-a-vis Bret Hart, and I swear I remember Steamboat being in the same... boat.
  3. The sequel: Now that is how you endorse someone. There's really no way he isn't going to be elected to SOMETHING in 2012. Who could withstand a series of those ads in Alabama besides Bear Bryant?

  5. Bossman ripped a piercing off Droz, I wanna say on Heat.

  7. If I can get in WON, anyone can!
  8. New Rasmussen poll has Blum going from +3 to +23. So... this is pretty much done unless Blum makes an exponentially bigger mistake than the 'nam thing.
  9. WON: "...Peter Maivia, legendary in the sport as a street fighter even before his altercation with Billy Robinson in Japan where he cost Robinson his eye a few years earlier..." Would love it if someone could expand on this.
  10. How about Lesnar vs Goldberg? One of the biggest matches ever in kayfabe terms, and it was a disaster.
  11. What struck me was the production values. If it was Some Guy saying that in front of a flag taped to fake wood paneling in his den, who would care? But that makes him look like he's a serious candidate who wants to kill some proverbial horse thieves in Mobile. If shooting those responsible for corporate welfare in the ag sector (which I think is his point) is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Get that guy to be the commissioner of FCW or something. "If your valet doesn't stop interfering in title matches, I'm gonna tan her hide!", etc.
  12. I can believe it. He probably never adjusted to fiscal reality after the divorce. See also: Flair, Ric.
  13. You've got just enough Texas/midwest without sounding like a yokel. It's very soothing. Especially in contrast to the high-energy stylings of Naylor.
  14. I'm mostly agreeing with regard to Will. But in a good way!
  15. I think he'll pretty much have an '06 repeat: hard primary that he's likely to lose, 3-way election where the Republican is an afterthought. Will things like voting for the healthcare bill do harm or good to his awkward '06 coalition. Will be a fun as hell race to watch.
  16. Joementum says "I can make JDW hate me even more!" http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/...l#ixzz0p9IRJDTC "Joe Lieberman open to backing Linda McMahon"
  17. This guy pulled it off: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prescott_Bush
  18. New poll has Blum +25, and unlike other challengers in this cycle Linda has already had a ton of ads, meaning she can't count on a bunch of points based on people who've never heard of her. Only 10% undecided. As I said last week, Linda needed to be showing and holding big gains across all polls, and it looks like she isn't.
  19. Looks like Simmons is going to tap out. Linda vs Blum.
  20. Nothing beats Jericho getting a U-S-A chant vs Chono.
  21. By the time it got to early 2007 and they headlined a Budokan show with the ROH title, it was beyond ridiculous. They could have brought Kawada back for the Takayama return tag, in place of the working-hurt Sasaki. That would have meant bringing in TWO big names to replace Kobashi, which would have been a big boost.
  22. What was the original end-game of Jumbo vs Misawa? Was there one Jumbo won in the title match on 4/18/91. Misawa made Jumbo tap in the tag title match on 9/4/91. They had a draw at CC '92. Jumbo/Taue retained over Misawa/Kobashi on 6/5/92. Then Jumbo's hepatitis caught up with him, forcing him to miss the July tour, and following that Misawa got his big title win. Was Misawa's win done because Jumbo was no longer reliable as the native ace? And regardless of that, when was Misawa finally going to get a decisive singles win? Or was there no real plan, with the feud going too long like Misawa vs Kawada? Was there more to the Kawada/NOAH fallout than was said? NOAH desperately could have used Kawada to stay hot following the 7/18/05 Tokyo Dome show, but Kawada was shown the door after an unscheduled promo during valuable NTV airtime. Okay, it wasn't good of Kawada to do that, but was that enough for NOAH to shoot itself in the foot over? They went in the tank really hard even before Kobashi's cancer and really could have used Kawada.
  23. Why the hell do you bring Sting over to have him face freaking Shinichi Nakano and pre-good Taue in 3 of the 4 matches? Baffling.
  24. Charlie Cook now rating the race a toss-up. I'm sure Blumenthal will still have a lead in subsequent polls but even if it's 10 or 12 points, that's not a sure thing this far out. If the other polls are still around 20 points, or if they swing to 20 points in a couple weeks, then I'd be more inclined to think the storm will pass.
  25. Hm. Maybe this isn't a done deal after all: http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com/20...nthal-plummets/
