Wrestling "History" That Ain't Exactly Right
rovert replied to Johnny Sorrow's topic in Pro Wrestling
Did you finish last night's Segunda Caida yet, Johnny? There was discussion in this vein on the "common knowledge" being Memphis was all gimmicks, all brawling, no bumping which at the very least disproved. Additionally you have the Dynamite Kid-Tiger Mask series being held up as a classic series in ring which may people who viewed the NJ 80 set heavily disagree with. -
Na, his endowment. I came away with the learning outcome that Mr. Brooks is of good size. Yep On the topic of shoots avoid, avoid Jimmy Yangs. Nice guy but super boring it is like his ROH shoot without the jet lag this time. One more thing a Bobby Heenan DVD was announced yesterday which is both interesting in many ways and very sad in others. Like I said on DVDR I wish that they did this 4/5 years ago, sadly.

Dont forget the Tagged Classic DVDs we get over in Europe too, Bix.

Im trying to find the article which I remember recently read about Martha and her children so many years on. It painted a picture of a very wealthy, stable upper middle family unit who want to get on with their lives rather being on the take. It might have been on Slam Wrestling. Oops found this as soon as I posted it: http://wrestlingnewscenter.blogspot.com/20...itive-path.html

Brets, The Hart Family & the Benoit DVDs probably have the most overt mentions of the circumstances of Owen's death dont they?
-
Seems to covered best so far here: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2010/6/22/153...s-wwe-for-using Im amazed at the reaction from some "WWE lifers" who think Martha is a "greedy bitch" for suing poor WWE for not upholding their end of the agreement. If it goes to court it could set all types of precedents it seems. My questions are pretty much echo Bix's in the article above.

Vince Russo: the first man to make men in tights appealing.
rovert replied to kjh's topic in Publications and Podcasts
How is the book for spelling and grammar? Any Vic Venom style writing? -
I just dont know where to begin with this one guys: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/13764/

This podcast thing is getting surreal: http://whosslammingwho.podomatic.com/entry...T06_01_22-07_00 A non-standard interview worth a listen.

This reminds me of the story where Harry Smith failed a drugs test in developmental and Vince McMahon put him on Raw for a few weeks, just so he could suspend someone on their main roster to prove that he was serious about drug testing. So would WWE script a fake choking angle just so they could "shoot" fire somebody who "went into business for themselves" to prove that they were serious about keeping their content PG? Just one possible silly conspiracy theory... In Trevor Murdoch's interview he makes the claim that he was fired for smoking pot to send a message that even you are liked by management and the locker room you will be fired for smoking pot.

Isnt Danielson a radical leftist? lol
-
In terms of timeframe do you think he is referring to WCW/WWE? As an Irish man Im tickled by your analysis of his accent. His accent is very much a Ulster Protestant accent. Here is one more clip of Finlay's father is surprising young and active for his age: Needless to say his accent is a bit more native than global trotting Dave Jr.

Guys this clip is absolutely brillant : The glee on Finlay's face is fantastic.

Yep, a wrestler would rip them out if it was real is the principle. -
Everyone keeps saying all the stories are coming from Jake, but didn't Robin also tell stories about her father too? Besides which, when people say Grizzly "raped" Jake's mom, are we talking "rape-rape" (TM Whoopi Goldberg) or just statutory rape? This was the 1950s, and girls at 12/13 having kids and getting married wasn't that uncommon in certain parts of the south. Jerry Lee Lewis, anyone? I don't think it's that hard to believe, even from Jake, especially when, as noted, you've got a daughter saying Grizzly molested her. Now look at this: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/13704/105/ I could have sworn that when this was first posted, it had a line about Grizz's "propensity for young girls" but that's not there now. Did anyone else see that and was it edited, or am I nuts and imaging things? No I say it as I remarked to myself reading it yesterday how similar it was to this thread.

Im more interested in Dave's phone records this weekend than Raw, seriously.

Kind of a side question on the "Saturday morning" WWE shows are "Dont try this at home" bumpers aired? Over in the UK & Ireland those have evolved from "Dont try this at home" to "Dont try this at home or school" to I think now "Dont try this at home or school or anywhere." I wonder how legally that all progressed.

Guess Meltzer and Cena in their own way are/were tired of people hounding them. If this was a Cena would have given a more kayfabe, vengenful response about Danielson IMO instead he just sounds bummed about the circumstances and his angle being cut off at the knees.
-
Or he'll make a nonsensical cryptic promo that goes over everyone’s head. Likely referring his and his opponents mysterious past which is ultimately never explained.

I blame Bruce Mitchell Weird somewhat cranky update on it by Dave: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/13713/

Someone must have read my comment on DVDR and ran with it.

Cryme Tyme at Extreme Rulz were choking each other in a strap match this year though.
