Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired June 26, 1993 Rock & Roll Express vs Jeff Daniels & Paul Lee INT: Rock & Roll Express - they’ve got a match against the Bruise Brothers at Summerblast and this could very well be the biggest challenge they’ve ever faced. Ricky Morton tells the Bruise Brothers that everyone has a weakness and they’re going to find out what theirs is. It doesn’t matter how big you are because when that double dropkick hits you, that’s 442lb coming straight at you! Tracey Smothers vs Kevin Sullivan (jip, from Johnson City, TN) - Smothers is on the top turnbuckle when out comes Tony Anthony who nails him in the back with a chair. Sullivan goes to slam Smothers, but he cradles him up for the pin. The Dirty White Boy jumps Smothers after the match and the two of them go to work on him. Brian Lee makes the save and is just about handling them both when Smothers pass him the chair and they exit the ring sharpish. Lee goes over to Smothers, helps him up and then sits him in the chair raising his hand. All of a sudden he bounces off the ropes and takes Smothers’ head off with a clothesline. Lee puts the boots to him, hits a powerslam, comes off the top with a knee drop and spits on him. A second knee drop off the top and he continues the attack, leaving Smothers laying in the ring. Chip Kessler is outside Brian Lee’s dressing room knocking on the door and trying to get some answers about what just happened. Lee opens the door and says he’s “tired of being a big man living in a little man’s shadow,” before slamming the door shut. In a matter of moments it is evident that Lee was horribly miscast as a face; the clothesline and subsequent beat down were great. This gives Smothers a new challenger after the Dirty White Boy although their rematch for the held up Heavyweight title appears to have been completely forgotten on TV, which is very uncharacteristic for this program. INT: Jim Cornette Chris Candido vs Chris Comet INT: Chris Candido - he’s finally realized why Smoky Mountain Wrestling refuse to acknowledge him as the real World champion, and that’s because they are afraid he’ll beat all their talent and they will have no-one left. He was thinking of leaving because he hates the South and hates these rednecks, but he’s having fun and an easy time of things down here. It’s not like New Jersey, the mecca of professional wrestling, so maybe he’ll stay a while. If they don’t start recognizing him as the real World champion, his close personal friend WWA president Dennis Coraluzzo will look into it for him. Down & Dirty w/ Tim Horner & Tracey Smothers - Dutch has his doubts that these two are friends after what happened, despite what they may say. He plays the video of the ‘Coward Waves the Flag’ match and of Horner vs Jim Cornette. Dutch does his best to stir things up between the two of them, which leads to Smothers questioning whether Horner waved the flag on purpose and Horner to wonder whether Tracey attacked him on purpose. On 7/2 in Morristown they will meet in the ring for Smothers’ Heavyweight title. INT: Tammy Fytch - it opens with a recap of Tracey Smothers turning her down from last week’s show. She says that some of her girlfriends thought it would be fun to bring a cute little Southern boy like Tracey Smothers home, to bring him to some sorority parties and show him off, though now she realizes to take him anywhere would be a complete embarrassment. She has just signed a man to a contract who will get even with Smothers, but she’s not going to reveal whom just yet, “let’s call him the bounty hunter.” He will collect the $20,000 bounty and put Tracey Smothers out of wrestling for good. Smothers has made the biggest mistake of his life and no-one gets away with insulting her. Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Larry Santo & Robbie Eagle INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies & Bruise Brothers & Killer Kyle - the segment opens with a video interview from Bob Armstrong and he feels so good as next weekend he’ll be sitting at ringside with his boys. He has also received a letter from his doctor and on 7/8 he’ll be able to get back in the ring for the Summerblast tour to team with his sons against the Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette in a six-man tag match. Armstrong’s Army is on the move, they’re coming straight for Jim Cornette and if he makes it past this weekend he’s in for a hell of a ride come Summerblast. Back in the studio Cornette is laughing, he says he’s got a present for Bullet Bob and is going to get him an industrial sized bottle of Geritol that will maybe get that 85 year old heart started one more time so he can have a war. By the time they get finished with Armstrong’s Army they’re not going to look like General Patton’s kids, but Jerry’s kids! He says the Bruise Brothers are the most intimidating, physically dominant tag team on the planet, they’re under contract to him and they are whats in the Rock & Roll Express’ future. They don’t care about the tag belts, all they want it to win, bring them back to him and get paid, and they will get paid well. As for the Armstrongs? The Heavenly Bodies are in their future and he tells Bullet Bob that he is not going to get his hands on him and he will not last if he gets back in the wrestling ring. Killer Kyle is going to collect that $20,000 bounty on Tracey Smothers and in case Bob Armstrong gets too close, Kyle will always be watching his back. INT: Kevin Sullivan - he’s in Japan looking for Yukihiro Kanemura as he’s heard he is coming to SMW for Summerblast. He tells him that he is going to end it in his own country and he’s not going to make it to Summerblast. Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Bobby Blaze - the Dirty White Boy had him beaten on several occasions but kept lifting Blaze up at the count of two. He climbs the turnbuckles and comes off the second rope with a diving headbutt but Blaze moves. Blaze then leans back on Anthony and gets the pin to become the new TV champion. The White Boy attacks Blaze with a chain after the match, busts him open and DDTs him on the chain. INT: Tracey Smothers, Steve & Scott Armstrong INT: Tony Anthony & Ron Wright - the Dirty White Boy is irate and claims the referee counted three when his shoulder was up. He tells Bobby Blaze that if he ever sees him round the wrestling ring again he’s going to stick his chain down his throat and to do himself a favor and get out of the wrestling profession. Good interview. Bold matches are PWO recommended

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired June 19, 1993 Dr Dutch Mantel is sporting a mortar board and gown and carrying a diploma to prove that he really is a Doctor of Philosophy as people have apparently been doubting him Steve & Scott Armstrong vs Paul Lee & Jeff Daniels INT: Steve & Scott Armstrong - they have another video from Bob Armstrong and he heard about the raw deal that Scott and Steve got this past week on TV. Jim Cornette is always interfering, he’ll never learn, but a lesson is coming his way 7/4 weekend. He’s not ready to wrestle yet but he’s going to be sat at ringside then and has a letter from his doctor who will release him within the next two weeks. He may not be as fast as he used to be, but even half-assed he can take care of Cornette. Scott says that in two weeks the Bullet makes his return to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, so if there is something that Cornette wants to do, he better go ahead and do it sharp. INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - opens with a recap of the Bodies vs Steve & Scott Armstrong from last week. Cornette says that is the greatest thing he’s ever seen, the way that they fair and square beat the Armstrong boys and he tells them that they are in for the fight of their lives. He’s heard them talking about the Armstrong tradition, well the Armstrong tradition is alcoholism and unemployment! Bob Armstrong has said that he is coming back in a couple of weeks and will be at ringside to make sure that he doesn’t interfere in the matches. He says that he doesn’t need to interfere for his boys to beat those pencil neck sons of his, but Bullet Bob is coming back too soon and ahead of Doctor’s advice. What’s been hurt once can be hurt again and next time he meets his tennis racket, it isn’t just his ribs that he will be going after. INT: Tim Horner, Steve & Scott Armstrong Bruise Brothers (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Chris Comet & Larry Santo - Bruise Brothers are DQ’d for throwing Comet over the top rope to the floor and continue to beat on the jobbers with chairs after the match. INT: Ron Wright & Abdul Hassan - Wright has bought Hassan in all the way from Baghdad, Iraq. He knows that he is going to collect that bounty because he’s going to put the money towards rebuilding some of the milk factories that were destroyed by the U.S. troops when they were dropping their bombs over there, as those poor little infant babies haven’t even got any milk to drink anymore! They’re going to take care of Tracey Smothers today and when it’s over, these hypocrite wrestling fans from around here are likely to see the old, honorable Ron Wright walking on water over that ring after Hassan collects that $20,000. Down & Dirty w/ Chris Candido - Dr Dutch says that there is some discrimination from Smoky Mountain Wrestling with their reservations about recognizing the WWA title. Candido can’t understand why they won’t recognize it as the real World Heavyweight title? SMW already has one lawsuit against them for sexual discrimination and he might take a Class Act lawsuit and sue them for not recognizing the real World title, as they are discriminating against him too. Dr Dutch questions why he thinks they are discriminating against him and he says it’s because he is from New Jersey and they don’t like people from the North here. He says he is Ric Flair and Buddy Rogers all rolled into one (except better) and Smoky Mountain Wrestling is scared of someone coming in and wiping out all their talent. He closes by saying as the real World champion he will win the ‘King of Kentucky’ this Thursday in a cakewalk. Brian Lee vs Robbie Eagle - Lee becomes the first undefeated Beat the Champ title holder and gets a $5,000 bonus on top of his $1,000 for winning the match. INT: Rock & Roll Express - they say they’ve been in every major organization in the world, have been four times World tag team champions, four times Smoky Mountain tag team champions, but the Bruise Brothers are the toughest team that they have ever faced. The last time they got in the ring with them they attacked them, but this time it will be face to face. Morton says that they may be big, they may hit them twenty times and go down each time, but he promises them that they will get straight back up and in their face and that every dog does have its day. INT: Tim Horner - he has a match scheduled against Tracey Smothers for 7/2 in Morristown, TN. It’s going to be a good clean match, but they’re going to have to put their friendship aside for it. Abdul Hassan (w/ Ron Wright) vs Tracey Smothers - prior to the match commencing Tammy Fytch comes out and gets into the ring. She tells Smothers that he doesn’t need to be worrying about this bounty, and with all these people after him he needs someone a little smarter than him to schedule his matches and watch out for him. All he has to do is sign a contract with her and he won’t have to worry about a thing. Smothers says that he has been nothing but nice to her, but he’s got problems and people after him. He says that there is no doubt she is a beautiful women, but ugly is to the bone and if you get down to that bone “you’re so ugly it looks like you fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch.” He tells her to get out of here and Fytch storms off before making her way to the commentary desk. She says that no man turns down Tammy Fytch and he will be sorry that he didn’t take his chance. Towards the end of the match Wright hands Hassan some powder and he throws it at Smothers, who ducks, and the powder lands flush in Mark Curtis’ face. Smothers hits a powerslam and out comes Tony Anthony, who climbs the turnbuckles and comes off with a splash but Smothers moves and he hits Hassan instead. A second referee rushes from the back and counts the fall as Smothers gets the win. The Dirty White Boy jumps him after the match and the two of them double team Smothers until Tim Horner makes the save. They clear the ring of the heels but face off after doing so with their title match just around the corner. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Brian Lee - says he’s the first person to retire undefeated as the TV champion and not only won $1,000 today, but received a $5,000 bonus as well. He is interrupted by Tracey Smothers who tells the Dirty White Boy he can stick that bounty where the sun don’t shine. If he wants to send a bunch of cronies because he can’t get the job done that’s fine with him, and it will be a cold day in July before any “Dirty White Trash or any goofy bounty hunters will put this country boy down.” He apologizes to Lee for interrupting his interview time, but says that was something he just had to say. Lee is visibly annoyed when Smothers is talking and taking over his time, and when Bob Caudle says to Lee that he’s got to be proud of the way Smothers is handling these bounty hunters, he says “Yeah, right,” before walking off. I smell a heel turn. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-06-12-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired June 12, 1993 Cawood High School, Harlan, KY Chris Candido vs Bobby Blaze - Candido hooks the trunks for the win INT: Chris Candido - he’s still the WWA champion and Smoky Mountain Wrestling better be ready as he’s here to take on all comers. He doesn’t appreciate that Bob Caudle said he cheated in that last match though, it’s bent camera work, he doesn’t cheat! Caudle replays the video and Candido still proclaims he didn’t cheat and it isn’t his fault that Blaze wore trunks that don’t fit him. Recap of Brian Lee vs Tony Anthony from last week INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - they’re both happy and the Dirty White Boy is jumping for joy while Wright has had a triple dose of heart medicine to prevent it beating out of his chest. He’s got two men in the back who are going to collect the bounty and Ron tells them to keep the cameras on him as he may walk on water before he’s out of here. Brian Lee vs Paul Lee INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - they say that today on TV they will be finishing the Armstrong’s off. He doesn’t care what Bob Armstrong says, he doesn’t care what he does because he is never coming back. After today, Daddy’s little boys are going to tuck their tails between their legs and run right back after their Dad who is probably at home, drunk on Thunderbird because he knows he can’t handle Jim Cornette. Jimmy DelRay then tells the Armstrongs that they could get a lot more training and work done if they stopped their girlfriends from calling them. Cornette even claims that Bob’s old lady has been ringing up the Bodies! INT: Steve & Scott Armstrong Rock & Roll Express vs Bruise Brothers (Ron & Don Harris) (w/ Jim Cornette) (from Pikesville, KY) - The Bruise Brothers are revealed as Cornette’s mystery team. Cornette is cutting a promo on them (that you can’t really here) and the Express are jumped from behind by the Brothers. Not really a match as they attack Mark Curtis early and get him out of there before putting a lengthy beat down on the Rock & Rolls. Tim Horner comes out and tries to help but doesn’t really get anywhere. He is followed by Steve & Scott Armstrong but one of the Bruise Brothers is wielding a chair and preventing them from getting in the ring. Tracey Smothers eventually comes out and with the numerical advantage they charge the ring and the Bruise Brothers stop the assault and leave. INT: Rock & Roll Express - dressing room interview. Ricky Morton is all bloody and says that he has never seen a tag team like that since the Road Warriors in the 1980s. He tells Cornette that his mystery team maybe big and bad and they may have their backs against the wall, but next time they’re coming out fighting. They don’t care what it takes anymore, so bring your mystery team because the Rock & Roll Express is here to stay, not here to play! Really good fired up, heated promo from Morton. Down & Dirty w/ Tammy Fytch & Robbie Eagle & Tim Horner - Dutch reminds us that last week Fytch told Eagle if he gets her in contact with some wrestlers who want to talk serious contracts then she would go out with him. Dutch speculates that Horner may have serious contract negotiations on his mind and Eagle tells him that this is the chance of a lifetime, so please do it for him. Horner says he did come out to talk seriously, but he wants to talk to Robbie Eagle and not her. He tells him he doesn’t need a date with this girl, if you lay down with a dog you’re going to wake up with fleas and you’re about to get bit, before leaving them to it in the ring. Dutch wonders what happened and when he asks Fytch if she’s still going to honor the agreement and go out with Robbie, she says she’d rather go out with one of these filthy, dirty, Kentucky people and tells Eagle to call her when he’s a somebody. INT: Tracey Smothers - says that he’s never had anyone put a bounty on him before, but he saw what happened to Brian Lee when he had just a $10,000 bounty on him. There are top stars from all over the world calling Smoky Mountain Wrestling to collect that bounty and he was even nervous coming out for this interview. Ron Wright is then out and says that he has these men in the ring who are going to collect the bounty and tell Smothers to be man enough and get in the ring now. Smothers sees that it is Paul Lee and Mike Sampson and doesn’t seem that bothered so makes his way over and into the ring. He says to both that he has nothing against them, that $20,000 will make people do a lot of crazy things and lets just forget about it. He tells them that he thinks they are overmatched anyway and as he turns to leave they jump him. Smothers is handling them both when out from the back comes Tony Anthony and he attacks him from behind. He puts a plastic bag on his head and Bob Caudle says that someone has got to help him, “he could kill him like this!” The Rock & Roll Express and Tim Horner make the save and the Dirty White Boy exits the ring. INT: Bob Armstrong - he’s in the garden in front of a pullup bar and says every day he’s doing a few more pullups and it’s getting a little easier. He’s heard what Jim Cornette is up to with all his antics, but he’s heard enough, the general of Armstrong’s Army is on the way! Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Steve & Scott Armstrong - Cornette cracks Steve in the head with his racket while the referee was getting Scott out of the ring and the Bodies take the win. Decent last few minutes after Scott hooks DelRay’s arms following the second legdrop off the top. INT: Jim Cornette & Bruise Brothers INT: Rock & Roll Express & Steve & Scott Armstrong - Ricky Morton says that they both have had their troubles with Jim Cornette, but he tells him to remember one thing, that it won’t be long before The Bullet is leading the pack. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-06-05-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired June 5, 1993 Cawood High School, Harlan, KY Bobby Blaze vs Paul Lee INT: Bobby Blaze - he’s just got his first win in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and is surprised and excited as all these fans are. They put him in the with the like of Bobby Eaton, the Heavenly Bodies and the Dirty White Boy and he was slightly intimidated, but a young kid came up to him the other night and said he wasn’t giving 100%. Tonight, that kid’s face came into his mind, he gave 100% and got a victory. From now on Bobby Blaze will be blazing new trails through Smoky Mountain Wrestling. INT: Rock & Roll Express - this weekend Jim Cornette’s mystery team will be revealed; they can be 300lb, they can be known all over the world, it doesn’t matter to them. They are fighting champions, no-one ever gave them anything so bring it on! Chris Candido vs Gary Scott INT: Chris Candido - says he is the WWA World champion, not some rinky dink Smoky Mountain champion. Smoky Mountain Wrestling has no choice but to recognize him as the real World champion now that he’s just beaten Gary Scott, a top contender for any title in the world, like it’s a day off. He tells SMW to get ready for the Suicide Blonde tour, the tour of the real World champion! INT: Jim Cornette Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Robbie Eagle & Mike Sampson - the Bodies beat on the jobbers after the match which brings out Steve & Scott Armstrong for the save. The Armstrong’s are controlling things, but when they put a double Figure Four on the Bodies it gives Cornette the opportunity to get involved and he attacks Scott with his racket. The teams continue to fight as we go to a commercial break. Down & Dirty w/ Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - Dutch says that although they haven’t seen eye to eye recently, it was a masterpiece the way that they got to Bob Armstrong. Cornette says that Dutch has always been cunning, devious, underhanded and dishonest and he admires a man who is good at what he does, so he doesn’t have a problem with him either. He knows that Bob Armstrong has sent another video in and he wants to hear what old man Methuselah has to say. Bob is in Armstrong’s Avenue, the gym that he built over the years and where he is spending most of his time at the moment. His application to be a wrestler has been accepted and he has received the license that allows him to manage and wrestle in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Steve and Scott have been doing the best they can against the Heavenly Bodies, he trained them in Armstrong’s Avenue and they know how to go hard and fight hard. For every lick Cornette gave him he’s going to get one back, he won’t be chained up this time and as much as he beat him, as much as he hurt him, what hurt him more was calling his son Brian a deserter. He was afraid that his son wouldn’t come back, but he did, gets out of the Marine Corps in June and that will be here before you know it. He says that he is building an Army, he’s the General of it and is taking new recruits every day. He is working out harder and harder each day and is going to issue more pain than any human has ever had to endure to Cornette. Back in the studio and Cornette says that they have already proven ‘Bullet’ Bob Armstrong is shooting blanks, he is finished and was beaten up like nobody has ever beaten him up before by Jim Cornette. His boys are totally ineffective, they can’t stop the Heavenly Bodies, his mystery team are going to run rough shot over everyone and the fact is that Jim Cornette rules Smoky Mountain Wrestling. He says that Jimmy DelRay is the greatest natural athlete that he’s ever seen in his life, if he doesn’t rival Bobby Eaton, he bests him. He’s been training down in Florida for four years where they kept him a secret, because one day they knew they would need a secret weapon, an ace in the hole. He has been supporting himself as a gigolo there and the Armstrong women have got wind of this. Scott Armstrong’s girlfriend even wrote him a letter which he has with him today: “Dear Gigolo Jimmy, Every time Scott leaves the house I call you but you never answer. I will leave him anytime you say, nobody has ever **** (they’re not allowed to say that word on TV!) like you did it. I love you Gigolo.” The Armstrong’s race out from the dressing room and Cornette and the Bodies flee the ring. Dutch does an about turn and says that he didn’t like what DelRay just did, he thinks it’s despicable and it’s despicable what they did to Bob Armstrong too. Scott says that all Cornette and he need to know is that Bob Armstrong is getting better every day and is going to be coming back to Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Tim Horner (w/ Tracey Smothers) vs Jim Cornette (w/ Tony Anthony) (jip, from Morristown, TN) - The Dirty White Boy nails Horner with a chain for the DQ and this brings Smothers into the ring. Cornette powders Smothers and he and the White Boy leave as Tracey starts swinging wildly unable to see. As Horner comes over to check on him he swings, knocks him down, then gets on top and starts punching him some more. The two of them roll around on the canvas and the Rock & Roll Express run out from the back to try and separate them. Ricky Morton hands Smothers a towel to try and wipe away the powder and only then does he realize what’s happened. He goes over to Horner to try and apologize, but he is reluctant to accept it and is upset over what’s just happened. INT: Tim Horner & Tracey Smothers - dressing room interview. Smothers said what happened wasn’t intentional, he got powder thrown in his eyes and all of a sudden there are people hitting him. Horner questions how come he didn’t know it was him? Smothers said he had powder in his eyes and couldn’t see, it wasn’t intentional and he didn’t know it was him. Horner says that Ricky and Robert said something similar to him so maybe he’s right? A Horner heel turn would be for the best all around and would probably make him far more interesting to watch too. INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - nobody has collected the bounty yet, but Wright hopes and prays someone will come and collect it before 6/11. He says that he wrestled for 25 years before he got injured and couldn’t wrestle anymore, and it was terrible the way that these wrestlers treated him, trying to cripple him, put him out of wrestling and trying to get rid of him forever. It’s a great honor to take the last dime he has, cash in his life insurance policy and put up that bounty to get that low life Tracey Smothers out of wrestling forever. Brian Lee vs Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) - the Dirty White Boy gets the pin with his feet on the ropes. Tracey Smothers comes out and tells Mark Curtis what happened who then restarts the match and Lee immediately small packages him for the win. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Tammy Fytch & Robbie Eagle - Fytch says how she studied psychology at Wellesley College and has figured out if a woman comes along that’s smarter than the boys they can’t handle it and feel inferior. Robbie is going to help her convince some of the boys that letting her manage them is the only thing that will improve their careers, in return though, she has said that she will go out with him. Bob Caudle asks her if she would manage him, she looks in disdain at him and says “Are you kidding?” Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-05-29-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired May 29, 1993 Cawood High School, Harlan, KY Tracey Smothers vs Robbie Eagle Recap of the Tony Anthony vs Tracey Smothers ‘Coward Waves the Flag’ match INT: Tracey Smothers - says that people have been questioning him as to whether there are problems between him and Tim Horner. Everyone has seen the footage, Don Wright came and attacked him and he was just returning the favor hitting him with the flag, but the referee thought he was waving it. The belt has been held up, it’s a bunch of nonsense and he is going to settle things with the Dirty White Boy on 6/11. Horner comes out and for his own piece of mind asks Smothers whether he has a problem with him? Smothers says not at all and he considers him one of his best friends. Horner says that people have been trying to stir things up between them, but if he doesn’t have a problem with him he’ll be in his corner just like he has been since day one. INT: Jim Cornette Steve & Scott Armstrong vs Mike Sampson & Paul Lee INT: Steve & Scott Armstrong - they play a video from Bob Armstrong and he is out in the back garden and looks in great physical shape. His wrist is better, but he still has to wear the support for his ribs. Soon the Armstrong Army will be full and Jim Cornette is going to pay the ultimate price because he will not rest until he gets him, if it's the last thing he does. He is healing every day and can't wait to start training because when he does, he'll be thinking of one man. Scott says that since they were young their father has been a professional wrestler and they were used to seeing him come home with a broken bone or some stitches, but from men like the Mongolian Stomper, Terry Funk and Harley Race, not from a man like Jim Cornette. The Bullet will not be able to live with the humiliation, but they’re not going to touch a hair on Cornette’s head, they’re going to leave that to him. In regards to the Heavenly Bodies, he says that they’re just like a snake in that if you cut their head off another one wriggles out. Tom Prichard may have bought one of his relatives in, but he’s got 245lb of little brother himself! Good promo from Scott here. Down & Dirty w/ Rock & Roll Express - Ricky Morton says for the last seven years they’ve been trying to get rid of the Midnight Express and then the Heavenly Bodies and after all the blood, sweat and tears, Stan Lane is out of here. Dutch tells them to hold on as there is a new, big team being bought into the area by Jim Cornette and he is keeping their identity a secret. He says they can be 300lbs, they can be known all over the world and while there is nothing they can do about Cornette bringing them in to jump on them, there is a lot they can do about getting them off. They are then joined by Tammy Fytch and she says that now they have won the tag team titles they need someone to manage them, preferably someone with a good business mind because they clearly don’t know much about business. “Rock & Roll is out, Rap is in!” She says just sign a contract with her and with her brains, knowledge and business mind she will take them all the way to the top. Dutch reminds the Rock & Rolls that her idol is Hilary Clinton; she took a nobody all the way to the White House and he thinks she may do a lot of good for them. They turn her down and when Dutch asks her what she thinks of that she tells him to shut up and storms off. INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - Bob Caudle tells them that Tracey Smothers is looking forward to 6/11 in Knoxville and Wright says that he won’t make it to 6/11. He recently cashed in a $20,000 insurance policy and is putting every dime of it up as a bounty on Tracey Smothers and any man who puts him out of wrestling will get that money. Ron has a bit of a coughing fit and the Dirty White Boy says he hopes someone collects that bounty before 6/11 and $20,000 will make a man do a lot of things. Tim Horner vs Gary Scott INT: Chris Candido - says that he is the real World champion and is just about to embark on a World tour to defend the most prestigious belt in wrestling, the WWA Heavyweight title. The World tour is so important that the WWA have gone ahead and made him a brand new championship belt. He’s ready to come and defend this title and next week he’ll be in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and some stupid hillbilly will get the chance of a lifetime to take on the real Heavyweight champion of the world. Brian Lee vs Jimmy Golden - Dutch Mantel ends up leaving the commentary desk to go down to ringside as he and Golden had planned to split the $1,000. Dutch hands Golden a chain and as he is about to hit Lee, Mark Curtis spots it o his fist, catches the arm to block the punch and DQ’s him. Terrible finish. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - Bob Caudle tells Cornette that they’ve spoken to the Armstrong’s and they are united. That doesn’t seem to bother him and he mocks being scared at the news. He says Steve & Scott Armstrong are just like their old man, a bunch of redneck morons! He tells the Rock & Roll Express that his mystery team will be here this weekend, they’re going to tear them limb from limb and then deliver the tag team titles to him. As for old man Armstrong, he’s washed up, is a has been and is never coming back. Tom Prichard then says that Steve and Scott’s girlfriends are constantly calling and trying to get dates with them and maybe if they stop, they can then get some more work and training accomplished. Bold matches are PWO recommended

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired May 22, 1993 Coward Waves the Flag: Tony Anthony (w/ Don Wright) vs Tracey Smothers (w/ Tim Horner) (jip) - Don Wright, seconding the Dirty White Boy instead of his brother Ron, goes around to Horner’s corner and attacks him, however Horner soon gets the better of things and starts beating on Wright with the flag. Referee Mark Curtis thinks that he is waving it though, rings the bell and awards the match to the Dirty White Boy. Wright sneaks back to his own corner, but is caught by Curtis as he throws Horner’s flag back across the ring to their corner. He tells the ring announcer that since the bout is being videotaped they will review the footage and for the moment, the belt is held up. INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - Ron has just about recovered, but he had to travel down in an air ambulance today or he couldn’t have been here. He says that what we have just seen is a disgrace! He was trying to get to Johnson City to take care of his man and make sure the white flag wasn’t raised, but he had a serious wreck, totalled his automobile and was completely unconscious for four days before coming to. He’s seen the video and they’re accusing his brother of waving the flag, but Tim Horner was waving it like a wild idiot and the match should have been stopped and awarded to his beloved Dirty White Boy. A rematch has been signed for 6/11 and this time there has got to be a winner. INT: Tracey Smothers - he says there is no way Tim Horner waved that flag and everyone has seen exactly what happened. Don Wright jumped on him and all he did was knock him off and hit him with the flag, but the referee saw it and thought he was waving it. The belt is held up and he feels naked without it, but on 6/11 in Knoxville he’s getting it back. Just as he is leaving Tammy Fytch comes out and says that she’d be more than willing to manage whomever comes out on top in that title match, whether that is he or the Dirty White Boy, well maybe not the Dirty White Boy as he’s a little more her type. She says that she would be glad to add him to her stable and tells him to get his pen ready and she will sign him that night. Smothers is a bit flustered, but says that he has more important things to worry about and will cross that bridge when he comes to it. Lengthy history piece on Jim Cornette and Bob Armstrong INT: Jim Cornette Continuation of the history of Jim Cornette and Bob Armstrong Last Tangle in Tennessee: Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Rock & Roll Express (jip) - a double dropkick on Prichard and Cornette pulls Mark Curtis out of the ring to break the count. Morton goes out to deck Cornette and they all end up fighting at ringside as the match is a double count out. Sandy Scott, as representative of Smoky Mountain Wrestling, then gets on the mic and says that there has to be a winner and orders the match to continue. Gibson pins Lane with the Gibson leglock to send Stanfield packing from SMW and for the Rock & Rolls to once again become the tag team champions. INT: Jim Cornette - he’s received the largest fine in Smoky Mountain history, $10,000, but all that is to him is a call home to mother. The people may have expected to see him upset be he’s got news for them. The ‘Last Tango in Tennessee’ didn’t go there way and Bob Armstrong did everything in his power to make sure that they came out on the losing end of everything, but the man who came out on the losing end was Armstrong himself. He’s resigned as Commissioner, he’s in the hospital, is no longer involved in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and he was responsible for it. He’s still has a few scores to settle though and the first of these is with the Rock & Roll Express. He says that he has been a few places in the wrestling world, he’s been a big deal for a long time; he’s ridden in limousines with Ric Flair, has been a guest at Terry Funk’s Double Cross Ranch in Texas, has been on MTV, ESPN and every channel in between and has been on private airplanes with the biggest promoters in the country for the past ten years. He’s done a lot of stuff, made a lot of connections and two of those connections, two big national stars, two big time wrestlers are coming to Smoky Mountain Wrestling at his request to take out the Rock & Roll Express. Who are they? They’ll just have to wait, wonder and try and figure it out. As for the Armstrong boy’s, he’s got a little surprise that is coming up next. Heavenly Bodies (Tom Prichard & Jimmy Del Ray) (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Mike Sampson & Bobby Blaze INT: Rock & Roll Express INT: Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette - Bob Caudle opens by playing a video from Bob Armstrong who is at home and flanked by his sons, Scott and Steve. He says that it's an Armstrong tradition that they pay their debts and he owes Cornette plenty. In over twenty years he's never taken a beating like he did in Knoxville; his ribs are cracked, his sternum is cracked and the handcuffs cracked his wrist. All he's got to do is wait and heal up and there are enough of us Armstrongs to make an army. His Mama can't pay her way out of this as there isn't enough money to buy him and his boys. He's resigning as Commissioner of Smoky Mountain Wrestling, but along with that resignation letter will be a letter of application as he wants to be a wrestler. This isn't going unpaid, Cornette may be laughing now, but he'll have the last laugh and will see him sooner than he thinks. Back in the studio and Cornette is laughing at Armstrong and says he's never had a beating like that because he's never come across a real man like Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies. Armstrong is no longer Commissioner and he was hospitalized at his hands; he got what he wanted and got even for all those times that he stacked the decks against them. The only satisfaction he got was at the ‘Last Tango in Tennessee’ the Rock & Roll Express came out on top and Stan Lane was sent packing, but he has pulled the rug out from under him and put together the ultimate Heavenly Bodies combination. Prichard introduces his cousin, 'Gigolo' Jimmy Del Ray, and says that he is happy that he gets to make his professional wrestling debut alongside him. He has been training in Palm Beach for the past four years with the best, waiting for an opening and opportunity which has now arrived. Cornette warns Steve & Scott to come on with their vengeance and vendetta as he's got something waiting for them in the form of the Heavenly Bodies and this time they will rule Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired May 15, 1993 ‘Volunteer Slam II Special’ Recap of Jimmy Golden vs Stan Lane and the subsequent confrontation between Jim Cornette and Bob Armstrong from last week Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (jip, from Barbourville, KY) - Fuller is about to put the Fuller leglock on Tom Prichard when Cornette interferes and cracks him with the racket allowing Prichard to get the pin. Fuller puts the leglock on Lane after the match, while Golden stops Prichard or Cornette getting in the ring to help. He ends up injuring Lane and it’s only when Killer Kyle comes out does Fuller release the hold and the Stud Stable leave. INT: Jim Cornette, Tony Anthony Robert Gibson vs Tasmaniac (jip) Robert Fuller vs Killer Kyle (jip) Brian Lee vs Stan Lane (w/ Jim Cornette) (jip) Jimmy Golden vs Kevin Sullivan (jip) Ricky Morton vs Tom Prichard (w/ Jim Cornette) - Mark Curtis dives out of the way to avoid being caught up in the action and with the briefest of opportunities, Cornette sprays something in Morton’s face allowing Prichard to get the pin and give his team the advantage in the Rage in the Cage. INT: Rock & Roll Express & Brian Lee - post-match dressing room interview. Ricky Morton is sporting an eye patch after it transpires that it was chemicals that Jim Cornette sprayed in his face. Lee says that Cornette will do anything to get an advantage, but Ricky is still standing tall. Morton says that as long as he’s got two feet to stand on and one eye to see out of, nothing will stop him from the Rage in the Cage. He questions where the Stud Stable are as they were in their dressing room and wouldn’t talk to them. He tells them not to double cross them before they are joined by Bob Armstrong. He also doesn’t know where the Stud Stable are, but he is the referee for the match and will ensure that the best team wins and as far as he is concerned, he is with the best team. Rage in the Cage: Rock & Roll Express & Brian Lee & Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden vs Heavenly Bodies & Killer Kyle & Kevin Sullivan & The Tasmaniac (jip) - Morton makes Stan Lane submit to the Figure Four and after the match, with everyone still in the cage, Cornette nails Bob Armstrong in the back with the tennis racket as he is uncuffing the face team. Bob doesn’t sell it and turns his attention to Cornette, but is attacked by Tom Prichard. Armstrong manages to hold both of the Bodies off, however Cornette starts to uncuff the heel team and the numbers are too much for him. Fuller and Golden (the only faces he uncuffed) just leave, locking the cage door behind them and Lee and the Rock & Rolls are helpless (Lane subsequently cuffed Morton to the cage) as it is a six on one attack on Armstrong. Mark Curtis tries to climb the cage but to no avail. Cornette waffles Armstrong with some hard racket shots and they then handcuff him to the cage in the crucifix position. Smothers and Horner are out to try and help but they’re kept at bay, all while Cornette is slapping Armstrong and hitting him with numerous hard racket shots to the chest. They eventually manage to get the door open and Smothers and Horner get in front of Armstrong to protect him and Cornette’s team leave. The beating seemed overly long and didn’t need to go on for as long as it did, although it was a chaotic scene. INT: Tim Horner, Tracey Smothers Aftermath of Rage in the Cage with the medics seeing to Bob Armstrong in the cage INT: Jim Cornette - Lance Russell tells Cornette he better hope Bob Armstrong is dead, because if he comes out of this he won’t forget it. Cornette hopes he is dead too! He swore to everyone that he wouldn’t let him get away with putting his hands on him and the day he hit him in the head was the day that he signed his own death warrant. He says he’s not going to stop there because he knows he’s got a family, but the greatest feat he’s ever been responsible for is sending his decrepit carcass out of the Knoxville Coliseum on a stretcher, into an ambulance, into a hospital and maybe into the morgue. He’s going to rule Smoky Mountain Wrestling and as he (Armstrong) saw tonight, there is nothing he can do about it. Footage of Armstrong being carried out on a stretcher continues to play as Cornette cuts the interview. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-05-08-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired May 8, 1993 Knox Central High School, Barbourville, KY Dixie Dy-No-Mite vs The Avenger - Tammy Fytch comes down to ringside to scout Dy-No-Mite) INT: Tammy Fytch & Dixie Dy-No-Mite - Tammy has just had a brilliant idea. In this article that she is reading, Hilary Clinton saw the greatness in Bill before anyone else did because she’s a genius, like her. She figures that she’ll sign up a wrestler with not much obvious greatness, take him from the bottom and see what she can do with him. She hands Dixie a contract, tells him to sign it and she will take him straight to the top. Dixie tells her “Hell no!” and she responds that it takes a real man to be led by a woman. INT: Rock & Roll Express - tonight’s the night for the Rage in the Cage. Morton says that they know when they step in the cage the Heavenly Bodies are going to do all they can to injure one of them, because next week is the ‘Loser Leaves Town match’. He tells Jim Cornette that they’re here to stay and it will be one of his Heavenly Bodies that he will be carrying back to the dressing room tonight Video for the ‘Last Tangle in Tennessee’ Loser Leaves Town match on 5/15 Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Bobby Blaze - Wright is at the commentary desk and says that since they’ve moved up North they’ve realized how sorry, trash and lowdown these people in the South are. It’s no wonder they lost the war. If all the Southern people back then were like Tracey Smothers they probably tucked their tails, turned south and hid somewhere! After getting the win, the Dirty White Boy starts to spray paint a yellow streak down Blaze’s back until Smothers rushes from the back and slides into the ring to stop him. INT: Rock & Roll Express, Tracey Smothers INT: Tracey Smothers - says what the Dirty White Boy tried to do to Bobby Blaze just now, a young man who is just getting his start in the business, was a cowardly thing. They replay the video of Smothers getting sprayed from last week and he says it makes him sick seeing that and has never met a man with lower morals than the Dirty White Boy. He has been called many things but no-one ever called him a coward, and if he wants a fight he’s got it with the ‘Coward Waves the Flag’ match. The Nightstalker vs Paul Lee INT: The Nightstalker INT: Kevin Sullivan - video interview. Sullivan is in the woods tied to some trees in the crucifixion position and is wailing. He wanted to change, he wanted to be good, but they're sending him into a cage, the Rage in the Cage, so how can he be good? He went back to the valley of the Abbuda Dein and he's strapped himself to the Tree of Woe. The buzzards have been flying all night and the vultures have been plucking at his chest looking for weakness because the Nightstalker turned his back on him. He says that he was on the line of maybe being a good boy, but there is no goodness in his heart, it is black. He has laid with lepers, dined with beggars, gone to the valley of the dead, bathed in the River Ganges and has got rid of all the niceness that the Doctor tried to instil in him. He tells Commissioner Armstrong he may have been cured at one time, but he's the one that drove him back over the edge. He's gone to the Seventh Pyramid and walked up the 13 flights, he's dined with the Lady of the Third Eye (and enjoyed it immensely), so put him in a cage for the Rage in the Cage and all hell is going to break loose. Probably one of my favorite Sullivan promos so far and almost straight out of a horror movie. Sullivan, strapped to the trees, wailing and with his promo comes across as a complete maniac. He's not much when the matches get going, but I doubt there is anyone better and more believable at convincing you they are a legitimate mad man. INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden - Golden is going to make Fuller proud when he faces Stan Lane on today’s show. He’s never seen him in the ring without four or five guys around him and this time it’s going to be just the two of them. He tells Cornette that he has hit him with his racket for the final time. When he last got in the ring with one of his men, Bobby Eaton, he cost him the match, this time he will not and will put Stan Lane out. Stan Lane (w/ Jim Cornette & Tom Prichard) vs Jimmy Golden - seeing Cornette and Prichard in Lane’s corner, Dutch Mantel goes down to ringside to keep an eye on things. Golden has the Figure Four on Lane and Prichard gets up on the apron to interfere. Dutch goes around to stop him whilst Mark Curtis tries to get Prichard down. Lane escapes the Figure Four and Golden fires him into the ropes, he drops down, Lane jumps over and he crashes into Curtis. Mantel and Prichard fight on the arena floor, Golden covers Lane, but no referee. Cornette enters the ring and goes to drop and elbow on Golden but he moves and hits Lane instead. Golden re-covers Lane and Bob Armstrong runs out to count the fall and declare Golden the winner. INT: Chris Candido - he’s the WWA champion and out of the goodness of his heart wanted to come to Smoky Mountain Wrestling to defend the title, however that old fossil Bob Armstrong is refusing to recognize the belt as the World Heavyweight championship. He’s coming to SMW whether they like it or not, is bringing the title with him and will show everyone why he’s the best thing to come out of New Jersey. INT: Jim Cornette - says that Bob Armstrong has gone way too far this time. Ever since day one he's been against him, the Heavenly Bodies, everything he's tried to do and has done his best to try and run him out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. That's okay because he's done the same to try and get him unseated as Commissioner. He is ashamed that Smoky Mountain has a stinking old redneck like him running it, but he's not the only one who is ashamed of him, even his own family is. He then says that Dixie Dy-No-Mite is Scott Armstrong, his own son and he's so afraid of him that he wears a mask to cover his face. He's ashamed to be a member of the Armstrong family, is ashamed to be associated with a crook like Bob Armstrong so wears a mask over his face like a criminal. Dixie then comes out, says he's ashamed of nothing and pulls his mask off. He's not afraid of his father, he loves him and the reason he wore the mask was to stop people like him running to the promotion claiming he was getting favoritism. He didn't want any favoritism off anyone, so wore that mask because he loves him. Bob Armstrong then comes out and tells Cornette not to talk about his family or these fans and if he's got something to say, have a little guts and say it to his face. Cornette says that Armstrong is the lowest form of human he's ever know, he says he's the Commissioner, he makes all these rules and tells people what to do. He's been trying to screw him since day one, but it hasn't worked and never will. He says he's like a drill Sergeant hiding behind his stripes, a police officer hiding behind his badge, he's got that Commissioner's tie on and is hiding behind that. Bob says that if the tie is bothering him so much let him solve the problem, and he pulls off the tie, unbuttons his shirt and tells him if he's got anything else to say let’s hear it. Cornette tells him he that he's gone too far and it's the last time he'll try to best him. He then starts talking about his family again and when he refers to Brian as “the World's biggest deserter” it is a step too far. Armstrong grabs him by the shirt and warns him that if he ever says anything about his family again he will knock him out. Cornette puts his hand on his shoulder, says that he can't talk to him like that and then he slugs him, knocking him to the floor. Incredible segment and another master class from Cornette. He doesn't give himself a nosebleed like a promo last year, but works himself into a sweat and the intensity is off the chart. Bullet Bob is amazing and the coup de grace is him finally levelling Cornette. Even Scott more than holds up his own here. Must see segment and angle. Killer Kyle vs Brian Lee - the Heavenly Bodies interfere for the DQ. Jim Cornette clocks Mark Curtis and the four of them start beating on Lee. The Rock & Roll Express come out to help, but they’re soon followed by Kevin Sullivan. Scott Armstrong and Tracey Smothers even up the sides and the heels leave as we get a bit of a preview to the Rage in the Cage. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Bob Armstrong & Brian Lee & Rock & Roll Express - Armstrong says tonight he is no Commissioner, he is a referee and is leaving now to get there early. Ricky Morton questions where the Stud Stable are? They better not let them down because if they do something is going to happen and they’d hate to be the ones to do it. 1993-05-01-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired May 1, 1993 Knox Central High School, Barbourville, KY Tracey Smothers vs The Avenger - Tony Anthony is out to provide commentary while Ron Wright watches the match from ringside to do a little prospective scouting. Smothers gets the pin and the Dirty White Boy rushes the ring but Smothers sees him coming. He gets in the first shots in and dropkicks the White Boy out of the ring. Anthony gets some brass knux off Wright and he slugs Smothers. He posts him and drops a leg before motioning to Wright to pass him something. Wright produces a can of spray paint and the Dirty White Boy paints a yellow streak down Smothers' back until Tim Horner comes out and Anthony leaves. INT: Tracey Smothers & Tim Horner - Horner says that the Dirty White Boy may as well have painted a stripe down his back too because they’re like brothers. He’s not going to even unroll that flag now, let alone wave it. Smothers says that the battle rages on and the problem is that in the Smoky Mountain Heavyweight title he’s got the one thing that the Dirty White Boy cherishes more than anything in the world. He’s not a coward, Tim Horner is not a coward and Tim Horner is not going to wave that flag INT: Brian Lee - he says that he's getting prepared for the ‘Rage in the Cage’ at Volunteer Slam when they're interrupted by Tammy Fytch. She says that he seems to have some potential but needs a bit of guidance and if he signs this contract with her she will tell him every move that he needs to make. Bob Armstrong comes out and although their lawyers have asked him to give her some leeway because of the lawsuit, he can't allow her to come out, interrupt the wrestlers and ask them questions that they're not interested in. Lee says to Armstrong to let him answer her question and he tells her that if he wanted a woman to tell him what to do he'd get married...and she isn't his type. INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - Bob Caudle has a hard time believing that Wright could watch the Dirty White Boy, see him suffer, get beat up and not raise that white flag? Wright says that when he comes out for the match the flag will be rolled up, stuck down in cement and locked up, so there will be no way that it can be waved. The people just got a glimpse of what will happen to Tracey Smothers, it’ll take ten men and seven ambulances to pick all his body parts up and maybe there’ll be a doctor good enough to put him back together. His real colors just came out and everyone saw that he’s got a yellow streak a mile long. Wright says that anyone who comes better have a strong stomach because it’s going to be bloody! INT: Rock & Roll Express Rock & Roll Express vs Scott Campione & Paul Lee INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden - they got the match they wanted with the Heavenly Bodies, and they’re not worried about Kevin Sullivan, his sidekick, Jim Cornette, the Bodies or anyone else when it comes to the ten man tag. They’re going to be the Rock & Roll Express’ partners this one time, but don’t go expecting them to carry the load. After the Rage in the Cage there is the big loser leaves town match and one of the losers is going to be out of here. The winners of that match will be the greatest losers though, as they’re going to have to meet the biggest, baddest team ever to appear in the Smoky Mountain area, the Stud Stable. INT: Rock & Roll Express - they don’t want to be partners with the Stud Stable as much as the Stud Stable don’t want to be partners with them. They’ll hold up their end of the deal, but if they double cross them there will be hell to pay. Morton then tells them to be ready if they want the winners of the ‘Loser Leaves Town’ match as that’s going to be them. Video for the ‘Last Tangle in Tennessee’ Loser Leaves Town match on 5/15 Down & Dirty w/ Kevin Sullivan - Dutch says that a lot of people think Kevin Sullivan is sick, but he just thinks that he is misunderstood. They then sit down in the ring for another psychiatric session and Dr Dutch does a little word association with Sullivan. Dr Dutch says words like “butterflies” and “flowers” and Sullivan has evil thoughts, when he says “cage” he has peaceful thoughts, but when he says “Rage in the Cage,” those peaceful thoughts turn to evil. Dutch asks him how he intends to deal with a man like the Nightstalker who betrayed him, and he tells him to remember that “he's The Master, and you're the pupil.” Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Bobby Blaze & Robbie Eagle INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - Cornette runs down the rules for ‘Rage in the Cage’. There are five men on each team; the Heavenly Bodies & Kevin Sullivan & The Tasmaniac & Killer Kyle vs Rock & Roll Express & Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Brian Lee, there will be five singles matches and the team that wins the majority of them will gain the advantage in the ‘Rage in the Cage’. When that match starts, each team will choose one man, and they will go in the cage and wrestle for five minutes. At the end of that five minutes the team with the advantage sends another man in and it is 2 on 1 for the next two minutes. Every two minutes thereafter, someone new comes into the match. The match can’t end until all ten men are in the ring and then it’s either submission, or there will be five sets of handcuffs on each side of the cage so you can handcuff every member of a team, and you can win that way. Six days later it’s the ‘Last Tango in Tennessee’, where the Heavenly Bodies will face the Rock & Roll Express to settle things once and for all. He has waited ten years to say that his team is responsible for getting rid of the Rock & Roll Express and this is the closest that they’ve ever been. There is one thing that still grates on him though, and it’s Bob Armstrong. He’s done everything he can to stack the deck against himself and the Heavenly Bodies. Armstrong comes out and says that at the Rage in the Cage it’s anything goes, there will probably be more violence than they’ve ever seen in the Smoky Mountains, but someone has to be there to raise the winner’s hands. He then informs them that he will be the referee and that he will be watching them very closely. Cornette has a fit and chases after Armstrong. Masterful stuff from Cornette in running down the rules for the Rage in the Cage. Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Brian Lee - Eaton takes a great bump outside the ring from a Lee body check before taking a backdrop on the gym floor. He avoids a crossbody off the top and lays a few shots in on Lee before whipping him into the ropes. Lee ducks an Eaton clothesline and comes back with one of his own to score the pin, become the new Beat the Champ TV title and send Eaton packing to WCW (Bob Armstrong had found out that he never got his release and the moment he lost the TV title he was sending him back there). Cornette shoves Lee after the match, who then grabs him by the neck and takes him down but Eaton whacks him in the back with the racket. The Heavenly Bodies come out and they all go to work on Lee while Cornette throws Mark Curtis out of the ring. The Rock & Roll Express make the save and Cornette calls for more back up in the shape of Killer Kyle. Cornette’s team do a number on the faces with Cornette himself getting involved in the action. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Brian Lee & Rock & Roll Express - they’re joined by Jimmy Golden who enquires as to whether the Stud Stable are going to have to bail them out one more time like they wished they had done a few minutes ago? He then warns them that they better hold up their end of the deal. Morton tells him that they will do, but they better not double cross them. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-04-24-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired April 24, 1993 Knox Central High School, Barbourville, KY Tim Horner vs The Avenger INT: Tammy Fytch - Bob Caudle announces that the SMW attorneys have advised them to let Tammy Fytch have her say on the program. Tammy can't believe that Caudle hasn't heard of her family, the Fytch's of New England, they're very well connected! She's filed a sexual discrimination lawsuit against Smoky Mountain Wrestling, because since the promotion began it hasn't employed a single woman in any prominent position. She is currently enrolled in Wellesley College, the same school that her idol Hilary Clinton attended, and Mrs Clinton has proven that a woman can do anything she wants and she is going to make a difference in this organization by being the first woman to hold a prominent position here. If she can find someone suitable she plans to start by managing, before moving onto announcing, promoting and maybe even being becoming Commissioner (as Bob Armstrong won't be around for long). She looks in the wrong camera occasionally, but generally does a good job. It really is a crying shame to see her all young and naturally pretty when you know how everything turns out. Street Fight: Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Rock & Roll Express vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (jip, from Knoxville, TN) - we join the action as the Stud Stable have just been eliminated. Liberal interference from Cornette and Ricky Morton reverses an Irish whip from him that sends Cornette going flying into a table. Figure Four by Morton on Prichard and in comes Cornette to drop an elbow on Morton, but he moves out the way and hits the Doctor. Double back elbow to Cornette. Prichard is about to come off the top onto Morton who is being held by Lane, however Gibson shoves him, Morton moves and he collides into Stanfield who Morton covers for the pin. Cornette beckons out Bobby Eaton and he is carrying a ladder to use as a weapon. Brian Lee evens things up but is soon followed by Killer Kyle and the heels have the advantage again. Cornette waffles Morton with the racket and Kevin Sullivan is out to get at Lee. The Stud Stable are next, then Bobby Blaze and some unnamed wrestlers and it descends into a wild and chaotic scene with everyone fighting at ringside. INT: Bob Armstrong & Rock & Roll Express - Armstrong says that the Rock & Rolls have asked him for a special match so he’s added a main event for 5/15 in Johnson City, TN, at which point he is interrupted by Morton who wants everyone to watch what happened last week when he was tarred and feathered. Morton says that this is the last time Jim Cornette is going to come out and embarrass them because the match they have asked for with the Heavenly Bodies is a ‘Loser of the Fall Leaves SMW Forever’. Armstrong says he means forever, no litigation, no lawyers and no coming back under a mask. The Bodies and Cornette come out all irate saying he can’t do that, but if they want a war they’ve got it, and one way or another they’re coming out on top. INT: Rock & Roll Express, Tracey Smothers Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Bobby Blaze INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton - Bob Caudle says that it doesn’t matter what happens in his fifth defense, because of what Bob Armstrong found out it’ll be the last time he’s ever in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Cornette says that the banishment will just be temporary, but the Rock & Roll Express’ banishment will be permanent when they get through with them in that match. Since they can’t do anything about it now, they’re going to take as much of SMW and Bob Armstrong’s money before Bobby Eaton goes. Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Scott Campione - Anthony pins him after a punch to the jaw in just 22 seconds) INT: Tony Anthony & Ron Wright - Bob Caudle says that the last match has to be a record and enquires about the white flag that Ron Wright is carrying with him? Anthony says that it represents the ‘Coward Waves the Flag’ match, and that when you wave it the match is all over. Caudle says is Wright going to wave that when Smothers gets him down and is pounding on him? The Dirty White Boy says that he clearly doesn’t understand Mr Wright’s track record! He is one of the lowest forms of human being walking the earth, he’s a snake in the grass, he’s out and out no good and that is why he loves him so much. He knows that Smothers will have Tim Horner in his corner and they’re such good friends that as soon as he busts Smothers open, Horner will be waving that flag. On the other hand it doesn’t matter to Wright, they could take a chainsaw, cut off his head and he still won’t wave the flag, so what is Smothers going to do? Wright says that he has a heart of stone and will not wave it whatever. Down & Dirty w/ Tracey Smothers & Tim Horner - Smothers says that he has got all the respect in the world for the Dirty White Boy, but its ‘Coward Waves the Flag’ and it’ll be a cold day in July before Tim Horner waves that flag. Smothers asks Horner if the Dirty White Boy breaks his arm will he wave that flag. “No sir.” If he breaks the other arm? “No sir.” If he breaks both legs, his neck and every joint in his body? “No sir.” Horner states that no matter what happens in that match he won’t wave the flag because Smothers told him not to. Kevin Sullivan vs The Nightstalker - Sullivan is evidently DQ’d for seemingly raking something in the Nightstalker’s eyes. Terrible finish. INT: Jim Cornette, Tony Anthony INT: Kevin Sullivan - says that they want to lock him up again, but he’ll happily go into the cage alongside the Heavenly Bodies, Killer Kyle and The Tasmaniac at Rage in the Cage. He is attacked by the Nightstalker (who has a bandage covering his eye) and the two of them fight as the show goes off the air. Bold matches are PWO recommended

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired April 17, 1993 Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Robbie Eagle INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton - Cornette is going to appeal the decision from last week by Bob Armstrong, but Bob Caudle informs him that they’ve got something else (another video) from the Commissioner that he may be interested in. Armstrong has been digging and has found out that Bobby Eaton is still under contract to WCW. He never told them he was leaving, just showed back up with his old boss Jim Cornette. WCW didn’t say a thing about it because he was such a troublemaker there, so they let it slide. Armstrong then informs them that Eaton hasn’t got a contract with Smoky Mountain Wrestling either. He was in Japan when he arrived and just assumed he had all the correct contractual agreements. He says that he can’t get rid of him as he is the Beat the Champ TV title holder and Jim Cornette will take them to court, but the moment he loses that belt he is out of here. Cornette says that Bob Armstrong will do anything. Bobby Eaton is a member of Heavenly Bodies Inc., his name wasn’t on the original charter but that doesn’t matter because he’s a member of the corporation. He says that Eaton got his release from WCW and Armstrong can’t force him to go back there. He claims that Armstrong is trying to dismantle Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies and he’s not going to let it happen. He then blames the Rock & Roll Express for putting Armstrong up to it because they’re scared of them. Recap of Brian Lee vs Kevin Sullivan from Bluegrass Brawl and Sullivan’s fallout with the Nightstalker The Nightstalker music video - KISS ‘War Machine’ - it’s a shame that within a month he becomes Adam Bomb as he could’ve been a top face heel after the turn. Kevin Sullivan (w/ The Tasmaniac) vs Roger Anderson - Sullivan is DQ’d for attacking Anderson with a metal bar INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Tasmaniac - they see that the security are about to carry Anderson out of the ring on a stretcher so head back to the ring to attack him again as well as the security. INT: Sawyer Brown INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Down & Dirty w/ The Nightstalker - says how he followed ‘The Master’ from day one, he was his disciple and did everything he asked of him. In Pikeville, at the Bluegrass Brawl, he slapped him, blamed him for something he didn’t do, and with that slap he saw the light. He has a match upcoming against Kevin Sullivan and while Sullivan taught him all he knows, he has to realize that he’s a big man and he can’t be pushed around no more! Dutch pretty much walks him through this. Recap of Tony Anthony vs Tracey Smothers from the Bluegrass Brawl and the post-match dressing room attack INT: Tracey Smothers - says the Tennessee Chain match at the Bluegrass Brawl was the toughest match he’s ever had, and he’s been in there with everyone from Antonio Inoki to Terrible Ted the Wrestling Bear. The Dirty White Boy jumped and embarrassed him in the dressing room on the biggest night of his career. They have some more Chain matches and while he may not be an expert in them, he’s coming right for the Dirty White Boy, and when he’s through with him they’ll change his name to the Dirty White Trash! Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Mike Sampson INT: Rock & Roll Express - Ricky Morton is sick of Jim Cornette coming out and saying that he’s going to get rid of the Rock & Roll Express, but says that they’re going nowhere. Cornette and Tom Prichard come out and Cornette says they’ve got them a little going away present, so why don’t they come on over and open it? Morton says that he’s tired of this so the two of them go over, but it’s just a ruse (surprise, surprise) as Prichard throws powder in both of their faces. Cornette attacks Gibson with his racket and here comes Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton to make it four on two. The Bodies and Cornette tar and feather Morton until Brian Lee and Tracey Smothers rush out to see them all off. INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - they make a bunch of chicken based puns whilst Stanfield is clucking. Cornette says that they planned to humiliate the Rock & Roll Express out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling and they’ve embarrassed them so bad that they will never want to show their faces here again. They’ve only just begun, Bob Armstrong is going to feel the wrath, the Rock & Roll Express have already felt it and the Stud Stable will feel it. Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden interrupt them and say if they’ve got any guts they’ll get in the ring and defend the belts against them now (with a few profanities bleeped out for good measure too). Cornette says that no redneck is going to talk to them like that and if they want a title match, let’s give it them “and we’ll finish these two off too!” Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (w/ Dutch Mantel) vs Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) - Bobby Eaton interferes for the cheap DQ and Cornette claims they beat them convincingly as they leave. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Rock & Roll Express - Ricky Morton hasn’t showered yet and is still tarred and feathered. He swears that one of them, either the Rock & Roll Express or the Heavenly Bodies is going to leave SMW and it's not going to be them! Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-04-10-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired April 10, 1993 ‘Bluegrass Brawl Special’ Brian Lee rolls the disc and rolls the number six. He wants a Singapore Spike match with Kevin Sullivan, just like they had in Knoxville. Singapore Spike Match: Kevin Sullivan vs Brian Lee (extended highlights) - with Mark Curtis down, the Nightstalker has the spike and tries to pass it to Sullivan but Lee comes over to wrestle it off him. Sullivan goes to hit Lee, who moves and he hits the Nightstalker instead. The Nightstalker gets back hold of the spike and Sullivan comes to get it from him, but he won’t give it to him and as they argue Lee rolls him from behind for the pin. Sullivan and the Nightstalker continue to argue after the match and with the Stalker still handcuffed to the turnbuckle, Sullivan pushes him before attacking him with a chair. He continues to attack him with it until the Nightstalker is free and Sullivan flees to the dressing room. INT: The Nightstalker - says that Kevin Sullivan used to be his Master, but no more. He was always there for him but he turned his back on him, he promised him the streets of gold but none of that came true. The biggest mistake he made was slapping him in the face, he is hungry and will be fed at Sullivan’s expense. INT: Tony Anthony Tennessee Chain Match: Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Tracey Smothers (jip) INT: Tracey Smothers - post-match dressing room interview. Says this is the greatest moment of his life and in his nine years in the wrestling business this is the best thing that’s happened to him. He is then jumped by the Dirty White Boy who breaks a board over his head and tells him that there will be more chain matches, before being ushered away. Smoky Mountain Showdown: Heavenly Bodies & Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel vs Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson (jip) INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - dressing room interview. They claim that the Heavenly Bodies and Rock & Roll Express were working together, they were all over them and wanted to get them out of there to prove that they are better than the Stud Stable. Fuller says that they will see them again and wants the same match one more time. INT: Rock & Roll Express - they have another one of these ‘Anything Hoes’ matches coming up and this time when they come to the ring they’ll be prepared for it. They’re on the road back to the top and are ready for a fight. Are the Heavenly Bodies and the Stud Stable? INT: Jim Cornette - says he realizes that Bob Armstrong, Bob Caudle, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, everybody is against the Heavenly Bodies as they’re jealous of their success. He has spoken to Tom Prichard and Bobby Eaton and has got everything under control as they’ve told him it will be a scientific match, nobody’s going to break any rules, no tempers will flare and then they will put this behind them. He says that there are no personality conflicts in the Heavenly Bodies, but for this match he will remain impartial. Tom Prichard vs Bobby Eaton - Jim Cornette is watching from ringside. Before the match starts he gets in the ring and runs down the rules with both of them, like no hair pulling, eye gouging and to break before the five count. They exchange a few holds and Cornette is torn at ringside as they both try to get help and advice from him. Just as the match starts to get heated Cornette gets in the ring again and we go to a local interview. Well this was a letdown! Cornette is the highlight here, especially 'playing' the referee before the match commences. Again, not really expecting much and you have an idea of what would happen, but amazingly it is even worse. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - Bob Caudle tells Cornette that everything went the opposite of what he said would happen and he blames that on Bob Armstrong's tampering and the rest of the people in SMW. Tom Prichard wants his $1,000 and Cornette tells him that he'll give him $1,000 dollars (to try and placate the situation), but he doesn't want Cornette's money, he wants Bobby's, “He doesn't have a thousand dollars!” Stanfield gets involved having word with Prichard and an increasingly frustrated and agitated Cornette tells them all to “quit it”. Caudle then plays a video sent in from Bob Armstrong and their attorneys are now prepared to stand up in court and say three men can't defend two belts. He says that they've decided that from now on only the two original signees, Tom Prichard and Stan Lane, will be allowed to defend the tag team titles. He has also heard a rumor that Bobby Eaton may very well be interested in, he's got six days to dig and will be back next week with his findings. Cornette can't believe that Armstrong would rule that Eaton is not eligible to defend the Smoky Mountain tag team titles and is sick and tired of his constant interference and tampering. He tells Armstrong that he's treading on thin ice and when he wants to do something to somebody he gets it done. He then reiterates that they're going to embarrass the Rock & Roll Express out of here and once they've done that he's going to court with his Mama's attorney to get Eaton reinstated as a member of the tag team champions. As they leave he says that there are no problems in the Heavenly Bodies, although that doesn't seem to be the case. Cornette is excellent here. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-04-03-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired April 3, 1993 Haysi High School, Haysi, VA INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - Wright says that he didn’t know how redneck, ignorant and backwards these hillbillies in the South were until he got out of the South and moved up North. He had to go to Duke University in the North to find out what was wrong with his heart. He thought the whole world was covered in smog until an opticians up there sorted his eyesight out and he can now see everything. In addition he had comes down with something and had been having these attacks, no-one in the South could find out what was wrong with him, but the doctors in the North found out he had asthmatic bronchitis and they’re going to sort that our for him too. He says that he is the master of the chain match, had 513 of them in his 22 year career and only lost one of them, and that was because someone in the crowd threw a bottle of liquor into the ring, it hit him on his head and knocked him out! He hunted the world over to find someone who could fill his shoes and he found him in his beloved Dirty White Boy, and he feels sorry for anyone who gets in the ring with him in one of these matches. Rock & Roll Express vs Mike Sampson & The Avenger INT: Rock & Roll Express INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Down & Dirty w/ Tracey Smothers - they start by playing a video recapping the Dirty White Boy attacking Smothers with the chain from last week. Dutch says how Ron Wright passed the legacy of the Chain match down to the Dirty White Boy and if Smothers is going to wrestle the Heavyweight title away from him he’ll have to do it in his own backyard and in his own match. Smothers says that Anthony has a lot of dues to pay; he burnt the confederate flag, he cost him $5,000 and he cost him the Smoky Mountain title. If Ron Wright says that he hates these hillbillies and coalminers, then he hates him because he is just like them. It may be his speciality but that is in the past, and in these chain matches he’s going to become the new SMW Heavyweight champion. INT: Tim Horner - reckons that last week he was well on his way to winning $5,000. He knows he could beat Bobby Eaton and so did Jim Cornette, that’s why he interfered and hit him with his racket. He’s not taking this lightly, that’s a lot of money, so he’s putting up $5,000 of his own money and wants Cornette to do the same for a challenge match (Horner makes an absolute mess of this interview). Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Jimmy Golden - Cornette hits Golden in the throat with his tennis racket which leads to Robert Fuller coming to ringside to try and offset him. Dropkick from Golden and Cornette reaches into the ring and puts Eaton’s leg over the bottom rope to halt the count. Fuller chases after Cornette and Mark Curtis tries to stop him. Golden has an abdominal stretch on Eaton and with Curtis still seeing to Fuller, Cornette gets in the ring and clobbers Golden in the back with the racket. Eaton covers him for the win while Dutch Mantel screams “there’s no justice in Smoky Mountain” on commentary. The Stud Stable double team Eaton until the Heavenly Bodies run out to turn the tide in their favour. Dutch then says we’re going to even this up and leaves the commentary desk to help his fellow Stud Stable members. INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - they can’t sleep at night thinking about the three team street fight, anything goes. Fuller guarantees that the Stud Stable are going to go hard on everybody and it’ll be proven that they’re the finest team this area has ever seen. INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - Bob Caudle says to Cornette that the Stud Stable are ready and he enquires for what? The retirement home? Alcoholics Anonymous? Maybe they're ready to go home, watch TV, drink beer and leave competing in sports to real men like them? He says that they've come to the conclusion that even though they can beat the Rock & Roll Express time and again, they don't know when to quit, so they plan to embarrass them out of SMW and maybe all of wrestling too. He informs us that Bob Armstrong isn't here today and produces and injunction from his pocket. So far the ‘Beat the Champ’ challenger has been picked at the start of every program and whomever the champ is doesn't get the time to prepare for them. This injunction changes that as he argued in court that a man needs the chance to prepare for his challenger, so from now the challenger will be picked one week ahead in advance. Caudle picks the name of Eaton's challenger for next week and picks Tom Prichard. Cornette sells this great and thinks all the pieces of paper in the hat only had Prichard's name on them. When he sees that they don't, he tears the injunction up and says that they don't need it, but Prichard says that he would quite like to have the match. Prichard and Eaton get into a shoving match with Cornette having to get between them. Cornette again tries to say that Prichard doesn't want the match, but Prichard informs Caudle that he did a hell of a job in pulling his name out and he'll take it. Tremendous segment, especially from Cornette. An update on Kevin Sullivan's latest therapy session with Dr Michael Phillips while Nancy (from shown from the neck down) feeds him grapes (they don't refer to her as Nurse Kratchett this time) - Sullivan is feeling a lot better but that isn't going to stop him from doing what he wants because he has been persecuted, he has been looked down upon and has been made to feel unwelcome in SMW. He's going to take this out on everybody starting with Brian Lee and the grapes of wrath are going to fall down on him. Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker vs Brian Lee & Tim Horner - Horner hits a crossbody off the top on the Nightstalker when out comes The Tasmaniac (not named). He climbs the turnbuckles, is about to splash Horner when Lee pulls Horner out the way and he lands on the Nightstalker instead. Horner then re-covers the ‘Stalker for the win. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker & The Tasmaniac - Sullivan says that in wars and battles, if the soldiers can’t follow the general’s orders things don’t turn out like they should do. He says that he demands total respect and dedication for the course and then tells the Nightstalker ‘no more mistakes’. The Nightstalker says that he didn’t make a mistake, he’s followed him loyally and has never made a mistake. Sullivan tells him not to forget who ‘The Master’ is and who the follower is before walking off. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-03-27-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired March 27, 1993 Caton’s Chapel Elementary School, Sevierville, TN Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden vs Reno Riggins & Lynn Fields INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - they’ve got the street fight this Friday in Pikeville against the Heavenly Bodies and Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson. Golden says that they’ve beaten them all before and will do so again. Brian Lee vs Larry Santo Singapore Spike: Brian Lee vs Kevin Sullivan (jip, from 3/21 in Knoxville, TN) - The Nightstalker comes down and into the ring about to get involved in the match when he is intercepted by Tim Horner. As all four men are fighting, The Tasmaniac shows up and moves the Singapore Spike out of one of the boxes and into another. Lee goes to where the spike ‘should’ be but can’t find it, meanwhile Sullivan goes to the box where the Tasmaniac has moved it to and gets hold of it. He is about to attack Lee with the spike but he blocks him, Sullivan drops the spike and Lee picks it up. Sullivan is backed into a corner and as Lee goes to hit him with the spike Sullivan unleashes a fireball, hits Lee with the spike and gets the pin. INT: Brian Lee - after what happened in Knoxville he has a return Russian Roulette match against Kevin Sullivan in Pikeville. He says that he wants to take Sullivan to the depths of hell where he belongs, and tells him to turn that chamber and put it to his head because he’s going to blow it right off. INT: Jim Cornette Tony Anthony vignette training for the Tennessee Chain match - Anthony claims to be training in Central Park “right in the middle of New York City”, when he is in fact out in the woods somewhere! Ron Wright has sent him to train hard with the chain and make him proud because Wright never lost a chain match in his career and he doesn’t plan on being the man to bring shame upon the chain. Anthony destroys a bag of flour (that reminds him of Tracey Smothers’ lily white guts) with the chain, before obliterating a melon (that reminds him of Smothers head), a pineapple (he’s heard Smothers likes his women thorny and a little bushy) and a beer bottle. He tells Smothers that this is what’s going to happen when he shows up for the chain match, he’s going to beat his skull out and stick his chain down his throat! Tracey Smothers vs Jeff Daniels - Tony Anthony jumps Smothers after the match whipping him with the chain before choking him with it. Tim Horner, Dixie Dy-No-Mite and Reno Riggins rush from the dressing room to help and the Dirty White Boy quickly exits the ring. INT: Tracey Smothers - he tells the Dirty White Boy that it’s a good job he’s wearing that New York Yankees cap and shirt because he’s like a stinking Yankee and has to jump everybody from behind. This Friday he won’t be coming from behind, it’ll be straight up and he’s going to jack some jaw, kick some ass and that’s the bottom line! Down & Dirty w/ Kevin Sullivan - a special edition of Down & Dirty and Dutch informs us that he has a pre-law background, a pre-med background and has some psychiatry courses behind him too. He thinks that if Smoky Mountain Wrestling are paying the bill for Kevin Sullivan's psychiatric treatment he may as well get in on the action. They're in a secluded place for this session (which is in fact the ring, where the only light is provided by a torch) with Dr Dutch, as Sullivan thinks that there are people following him. Sullivan says that Smoky Mountain Wrestling have tried to hinder him every step of the way, they've tried to block him and have people following him all the time. Dr Dutch tries to find out who these people are. Sullivan says that they are mindless, faceless people, he's probably seen them himself, and they drive round in brown LTD's with a Missouri license plate. Dutch thinks he's seen them and that they could well be following him round too. Dutch runs down the types of match in the Russian Roulette Death match and Sullivan comments on them all; Prince of Darkness, Stretcher, Handicap (Sullivan & The Nightstalker vs Brian Lee), Fire (includes clip of Mr Pogo vs Mitsuhiro Matsunaga from Japan), Singapore Spike and Brian Lee's choice. Sullivan says what kind of choice could he have facing him? He repeats “what kind of choice” over and over maniacally as Dutch ends the session. INT: Bob Armstrong & Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson - Armstrong says that Smoky Mountain Wrestling needs a good house cleaning, he’s tried fining guys and even suspended Paul Orndorff indefinitely, but what these guys need is forced action. Brian Lee is going to get his shot at Kevin Sullivan, but in case he doesn’t get the job done, he’s got a line of guys a mile long ready to step in the ring with him. He fined him $5,000, but his followers came up with the money and whilst he hasn’t got to him yet, it’s not over. He says that this Friday it’s the great Smoky Mountain Showdown at the Bluegrass Brawl, three teams, nine men in the ring and only the strongest shall survive. Ricky Morton says that with the combination of Arn Anderson and the Rock & Roll Express, they don’t care what it takes because when it’s over this is the team that will be left in the ring. Arn says that for the last couple of weeks he’s had a strange cramping in his arm and his fingers have been cramping in the position of the Four Horseman. It means the symbol of excellence, it means if you want a collection of broken bones, you want to get hurt? You jump on the Horsemen. He has hurt Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson in his career and they’ve returned in kind many times, but in his stupidity and harping about Bobby Eaton he’s forgotten about the team of Dutch Mantel & the Stud Stable. Robert Fuller has been saying how he’s going to get his bad leg, but he thrives on pain, the more he gets hurt the more he likes it (maybe a girl from St Louis instilled that in him one night?), but he guarantees the six of them that someone will get hurt. No ring will contain it, anyone with children leave them at home, somebody is going to have to bow out and if you want to take a powder go ahead, because the life you save may be your own. Tim Horner vs Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) - Horner goes for an O'Connor roll and Mark Curtis leapfrogs both men to get out of the way, and as they hit the ropes Cornette cracks Horner in the head with his racket. Eaton then covers him and gets the win to be the new Beat the Champ TV champion. Match was nothing up to the finish. INT: Brian Lee, Rock & Roll Express INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - there’s a bit of dissension in the ranks as Eaton tries to grab Tom Prichard’s tag belt off him. Prichard won’t let him have it, but Stan eventually gives his belt to Bobby for him to hold. Cornette says at the Bluegrass Brawl, the greatest combination in wrestling is going to take care of some business; they’re going to get the Stud Stable out of their hair, they’re going to get rid of the Rock & Roll Express and if they have to in the process, they’re going to take care of Arn Anderson too. Since the formation of Smoky Mountain Wrestling the Heavenly Bodies have never lost a Street Fight and when the smoke clears, it will be the Bodies who are standing there with their hands in the air. The tag team titles, the Beat the Champ title, all the money, all the gold, all the woman and all the glory! Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-03-20-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired March 20, 1993 Caton’s Chapel Elementary School, Sevierville, TN INT: Bob Armstrong - he’s accompanied by Mr Sean Yamaguchi. Earlier in the week Mr Yamaguchi flew in from Japan and presented them with a bill at the Smoky Mountain offices that they were supposed to pay due to the damage Kevin Sullivan did on his last trip there. Sullivan had told Mr Yamaguchi that we would be responsible for that bill, but we’re not, that is an outright lie. Armstrong says that when he told Mr Yamaguchi what had in fact happened he was really shook up by it, so has bought his young star Yukihiro Kanemura to take care of Sullivan and he is going to get his chance today. INT: Tracey Smothers - he doesn’t care if the Dirty White Boy brings King Kong and Godzilla, there is no way he is beating him in the Tennessee chain match on 4/2 and he’s going to be the new SMW Heavyweight champion Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Lynn Fields - after getting the win Anthony wraps the chain round Fields’ neck and drags him to all four corners touching the turnbuckles, as a precursor to the chain match. INT: Tony Anthony & Ron Wright - Bob Caudle starts by asking Wright is he has been out jogging this week? Wright says that he is in a wheelchair, what do you mean? Caudle states how he saw him get out of that wheelchair, but Wright claims that he didn’t. He says that he passed out, doesn’t know what happened, doesn’t want to talk about it and he can’t believe that he’s trying to make out that a good, honest, Christian man like him is lying! He has taught the Dirty White Boy everything there is to know about these chains and the people don’t realize how lucky they are to see a man of his caliber in a chain match. Anthony says that there are no rules in a chain match; it can’t be stopped for blood, no-one can throw the towel in, all you have to do is drag your opponent round and touch all four corners and if Smothers has got the guts he will accept this match and we’ll see who walks out! INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Recap of Jim Cornette unveiling Arn Anderson as the Rock & Roll Express’ mystery partner Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton (w/ Tom Prichard & Jim Cornette) vs Dixie Dy-No-Mite & Reno Riggins - Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson join the commentary desk for this match INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - Cornette says that everyone has been stirring up a lot of trouble and he just wants to clarify that there is no tension in the Heavenly Bodies. He asks Eaton if he is upset with Prichard and he says that he isn’t, he then asks Prichard if he is upset with Eaton and he also says he isn’t, however he thinks that Bobby is the reason that Arn Anderson is mad with them. This leads to Eaton shoving Dr Tom and Cornette has to get between them. Cornette says that he was shocked when Arn showed up last week, the Rock & Rolls went to WCW and picked the one real wrestler, the one tough man there as their partner. He’s seen him go to work on people and seen him take people and tear them piece by piece. What the people are seeing in these six-man matches is a match comprised of the five greatest tag teams of the past ten years. He tells Anderson that he knows he has had leg problems and they’re going to give him some more, but there will be no problems in the Heavenly Bodies! Down & Dirty w/ Brian Lee - opens with a recap of Bob Armstrong running down the rules for the Russian Roulette match tonight in Knoxville. Dutch says that today is a very important day in the wrestling career of Brian Lee, as today he rolls the dice and whatever number he rolls corresponds to the type of match that he is going to get with Kevin Sullivan. Lee says what else can Sullivan do to him? He’s cut him, burned him, he’s even broken his bones. He believes that luck is now on his side, that he’s turned a corner and that Sullivan maybe seeing tombstones in his eyes. Sullivan has done everything he can to him and when he rolls the dice later on today he’s going to come out on top. INT: Yukihiro Kanemura & Mr Yamaguchi - Bob Caudle is about to interview them both when they are immediately jumped by Kevin Sullivan Yukihiro Kanemura (w/ Mr Yamaguchi) vs Kevin Sullivan - Kanemura is busted open within 30 seconds and Sullivan does a number on him. Violent, bloody and Kanemura is a mess. He has a brief hope spot where he whips Sullivan into the turnbuckles, charges in after him but Sullivan meets him with the spike. Sullivan stabs him in the arm (this looks pretty disgusting), before the big red censored cross makes an appearance on the screen to try and obscure the carnage. Mark Curtis does a fantastic job with his facials selling the attack and how gruesome this is. Sullivan starts gouging the spike into his arm and The Nightstalker comes out to stop anyone from helping Kanemura. Larry Santo, Jeff Daniels and another jobber who try to help all get clobbered with chairs while Mr Yamaguchi gets in the ring to try and pull Kanemura to safety. Brian Lee eventually runs out to make the save and gets the Japanese out of there. Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Tim Horner - Bob Armstrong briefly joins them at the commentary desk and says that Kevin Sullivan has overstepped the mark. He’s fining him $5,000 and he’s going to make sure that he collects every last cent of it. INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Bob Caudle says that he has never seen anything like what happened earlier and the Nightstalker says that it is just another example of what he and ‘The Master’ are capable of. He tells Bob Armstrong to go all over the world, bring anyone he can because they can’t be beat and every night some heads are going to roll. Sullivan says that he is a misunderstood man. That Japanese man tried to hurt him, he made him mad, he doesn’t like to get mad because when he does he loses his temper, he gets aggressive and angry and today Brian Lee is going to find out just how angry he is. INT: Tony Anthony INT: Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson - Arn says that he just witnesses a 21 year old kid from Japan get wheeled out of here and it's probably going to take 200 stitches to sew him up. It made him a little sick; he thought he had seen it all, but what Jim Cornette does in the ring is no different to what just happened to that kid. Maybe no-one had their head or arm split open to that degree, but what he's done is prey upon all these people in the surrounding areas. He preyed on their wants, their needs and he preyed on the Rock & Roll Express, but he always did it four on two. The Rock & Rolls didn't call for someone with a good heart to help them out, they called for the dirtiest player in the game and I'm just as capable of going to you and your guys what you witnessed happened to that kid. He tells Bobby Eaton that he betrayed him, that he never cared for Stan Lane or his partner and he begs Cornette to what himself or the Express. You may never see this team again, one of the Four Horsemen with the Rock & Roll Express, but one way he is going to get to Eaton and no man who has never had a jockstrap on in his life is going to intimidate him or his team. Morton then tells Cornette that it'll all come to a head in Knoxville and he better be ready as they'll be waiting for them. This is soooooo good! Anderson's third promo in the territory (after the reveal and one local interview) and another belter. The way he linked what happened to Kanemura to the upcoming six-man is something only the best can do. Real shame that he doesn't stick around for long as a prolonged feud between Anderson and Eaton here (with Cornette doing his talking) would have been something pretty bloody special). 1993-03-13-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired March 13, 1993 Caton’s Chapel Elementary School, Sevierville, TN Dixie Dy-No-Mite vs Tim Horner Rock & Roll Express (w/ their mystery partner underneath a sheet) vs Jeff Daniels & Lynn Fields - Jim Cornette joins them on commentary for this match and he is laughing as he doesn’t think the Rock & Rolls could find anyone, so they’ve picked some random guy up from the gas station and put him under a sheet to make it seem like they’ve someone credible as their mystery partner. INT: Rock & Roll Express - they’re at the commentary desk where Jim Cornette, Bobby Eaton and the Heavenly Bodies are already out. Cornette says that the Rock & Rolls aren’t conning anyone, they’ve got nobody and no-one will team up with them. Morton tells Cornette that he talks big and if he’s got the guts why doesn’t he go and pull the sheet off and see if it’s nobody? They head over to where the mystery partner is and Cornette starts prodding and pushing him. He pulls the sheet off to reveal Arn Anderson and Cornette falls over from the shock. Eaton shakes Anderson’s hand and pats him on the shoulder, but Arn drills him with a left. All six men start fighting at ringside with Eaton taking a backdrop on the floor before Cornette gets his men out of there. Morton says that every time they wrestle the Bodies it is always three on two or four on two, so they decided to bring their mystery partner out with them today. Anderson says that when he was laid out with a knee injury did Bobby Eaton ever come to visit him? See how he was doing? No, he ran back to Jim Cornette and became his wind up doll again. He says how he could never stand Stan Lane, could never stand Cornette and tells Eaton that he needs to have a lesson in loyalty and if he doesn’t give him the loyalty he owes him, he’s going to beat it out of him. He says Ricky and Robert have a fault and that is that they have a heart and while they don’t really like each other, his heart is on holiday and warns Cornette that if he whacks him with that racket he’s going to need a gynecologist to remove it from him. He then states that you may never see this tandem again, but if you can get to a building where they are, do so, because things are going to happen, someone is going to get hurt and it’s not going to be them! Excellent interview from Anderson. INT: Rock & Roll Express & Arn Anderson Down & Dirty w/ Tony Anthony & Ron Wright - Dutch starts the segment by replaying the video of the end of the title match between Tony Anthony and Tracey Smothers from last week. The Dirty White Boy and Wright are now wearing New York City tees and caps after renouncing the South. Dutch says to Wright that there has been all this speculation that he got out of the wheelchair last week and asks him if that was the case and if so, is he healed? Wright says that he didn’t get up out of his chair. He was seeing his beloved Dirty White Boy get beaten up by Tracey Smothers so he asked the good Lord to take care of things and all of a sudden he blacked out. When he came through the Dirty White Boy had won the match and they still had their title. Wright then brings out a bag an in it contains one of his Tennessee Chain match chains which he’s kept for the past 15 years since he’s been crippled, confined to the chair and not be able to wrestle that kind of match anymore. He’s polished that chain, looked after it and for many years he’s been searching for a man who he was able to pass it down to, and in the Dirty White Boy he’s finally found that person. He is passing the legacy of the Tennessee Chain match on to him and Anthony then challenges Smothers to a chain match in Pikeville on 4/2 if he’s got the guts. Tracey Smothers vs Larry Santo Bob Caudle presents Tracey Smothers (who is surrounded by lots of fans in the ring) with a new confederate flag. He says that he has never been in a chain match in his life, but with all these people by his side he doesn’t feel so alone and will see him 4/2 at the Bluegrass Brawl. Clip of Kevin Sullivan vs Chris Adams from in a match in New Orleans where it was feared Sullivan had blinded Adams and put him out of wrestling. INT: Bob Armstrong - says that he insisted that Kevin Sullivan gave him the rules for the Russian Roulette match and proceeds to explain them. Brian Lee will decide his own fate by rolling a dice and the number that comes up will correspond with one of the following matches: if he rolls (1) it will be a Prince of Darkness bout where both men are blindfolded, (2) a Stretcher match, (3) a handicap match where Lee will face both Sullivan & The Nightstalker at the same time, (4) a fire match, which would be a first in the U.S. (this includes a brief clip of Mitsuhiro Matsunaga vs Mr Pogo in a fire match from Japan, (5) a Singapore Spike match and (6) Brian Lee can choose any match that he likes. Armstrong is then joined by Sullivan and the Nightstalker and he tells him to make sure his bills get paid on time. Armstrong says that he’s sick of paying his bills and after Sunday he may not have to pay any more of them. Sullivan tells Lee that he is gambling his life away, he’s playing against the house, five of the chambers are loaded and even if he ends up with his match he still has to face him. To him, it looks like all six are loaded and he’s going to make sure there isn’t a drop of blood left in Brian Lee’s body. INT: Victor Quinones - says that what Kevin Sullivan has been doing in Smoky Mountain Wrestling he’s been doing in Japan, Korea and all over the world. As a result they are trying to work together with SMW to abolish him from wrestling for good. Crash the Terminator vs Miguel Perez Jr. - Kevin Sullivan comes to the commentary desk towards the end of the match and wants to know what these people from Japan are doing trying to take his living away from him? Who are these people trying to persecute him? Who are these people that are after him? Perez hits a Space Flying Tiger Drop then Sullivan and the Nightstalker hit the ring and attack both wrestlers and the fight continues as we go to the local interviews. INT: Jim Cornette INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - Fuller says that he has 15 women running around on him, the IRS up his rear end, all kinds of problems but he’s not going to do the Von Erich thing (while pointing his fingers to his temple like a gun!!!) as they’ve finally got the match they’ve been waiting for. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-03-06-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired March 6, 1993 Jellico High School, Jellico, TN INT: Tracey Smothers INT: Tony Anthony - says that the beating he gave Tracey Smothers a few weeks ago is nothing compared to what he’s going to do to him today when he comes for the SMW Heavyweight title. Video of Kevin Sullivan’s latest therapy session, which sees him on the beach feeding the birds and calling them names of different Smoky Mountain wrestlers, before suddenly turning, pulling out his spike and chasing after them. Tim Horner vs The Nightstalker - Horner gets the pin to become the new TV champion, but is jumped by Kevin Sullivan and the Nightstalker after the match until Brian Lee makes the save. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express INT: Tim Horner & Brian Lee - Horner thanks Lee for watching his back, he then tells Kevin Sullivan that he doesn’t want to wait until 3/21 and challenges him for a match tonight. Sullivan comes back out with the Nightstalker and the match is on. Brian Lee (w/ Tim Horner) vs Kevin Sullivan (w/ The Nightstalker) - Lee gets busted open and all four men end up fighting into the parking lot as the match is declared a double count out. INT: Bob Armstrong - says he says that he is getting phone calls and letters every day from people angry about Kevin Sullivan, while one wrestler Tommy Starr, keeps calling and calling saying that Sullivan nearly ended his career. Next week to prove how wild he is, he’s got a video tape coming in of when he wrestled Chris Adams and nearly blinded him. He says that Brian Lee has accepted the challenge of the Russian Roulette Death match on 3/21 and as far as the three teams are concerned, it’s getting ridiculous and if the Stud Stable, the Rock & Roll Express and the Heavenly Bodies want to fight, let them do it at the Bluegrass Brawl. It will be a ‘Smoky Mountain Showdown’ with all nine men in the ring at the same time, fought under street fight rules and if one man gets pinned or submits, his whole team are eliminated. INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - Cornette says that Bob Armstrong will try anything. Firstly he signs these six man matches against the Rock & Roll Express where they have a mystery partner and we don’t know who it is, now he tops that with this ‘Smoky Mountain Showdown’ at Bluegrass Brawl, Street Fight rules, nine men in the ring, anything goes where only the baddest survive. He tells the Rock & Rolls and Stud Stable that no combination on earth can beat the Heavenly Bodies now and they couldn’t care about a mystery partner. Stanfield says that they have never lost a street fight and now there is three of them, there is no way they ever will. Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel vs Lynn Fields & Larry Santo & Reno Riggins Down & Dirty w/ Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden - quick promo for Bluegrass Brawl Tracey Smothers vs Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) - Smothers puts a beating on the White Boy early and bust him open after ramming him into the ring post. Anthony ducks a cross body and the momentum turns. Wright distracts the referee and the White Boy throws Smothers over the top rope to the floor, before hitting him with the title belt and busting him open as well. DDT from Anthony that Smothers kicks out of, small package from Smothers and the White Boy kicks out. The two continue to exchange punches, just trading back and forth with each other. Smothers drops Anthony with a double ax handle off the top for another near fall. Splash in the corner, super kick and Smothers again ascends the turnbuckles. Jawjacker and both men are down. The Dirty White Boy grabs the referee THEN RON WRIGHT GETS UP OUT OF THE WHEELCHAIR, WALKS OVER TO THE RING and nails Smothers with some brass knux knocking him out. Anthony covers him for the three and retains his title. Bob Caudle says that Wright got out of the wheelchair, he was walking! Whilst Dutch Mantel claims to have lost his contact lens and wonders what happened. This comes across more of a fight with Smothers out for revenge after what has gone down previously between the two of them. A tremendously heated brawl, dramatic and they get so much out of just exchanging punches with one another. Excellent ending and amazing that for over a year we've been led to believe that Wright is confined to that chair and can't walk. Great stuff! INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Tracey Smothers - says that’s the toughest match he’s ever had and everyone knows that he has the Dirty White Boy beat. Next time they meet he promises to whip his butt and he doesn’t know what Ron Wright punched him with, but that’s the hardest he’s ever been hit. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-02-27-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired February 27, 1993 Jellico High School, Jellico, TN Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Ted Allen Rip Rogers vs Reno Riggins - Riggins gets the pin in a good little bout INT: Bob Armstrong - says that they are getting bills every week from Kevin Sullivan’s therapist and these bills are staggering. They’re looking for a way out of it because he is trying to bleed the company dry and is doing a very good job of it. He then goes on to say that their attorneys are investigating the situation with the Heavenly Bodies because three people defending two belts just doesn’t add up. Finally he announces that on 4/2 in Pikeville, KY, Smoky Mountain Wrestling will present an event called the Bluegrass Brawl. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Video of Kevin Sullivan’s latest therapy session with Dr Michael Phillips, after which he gets a cranium massage from Nurse Kratchett. Sullivan says how it is going to be a long session and thanks Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Commissioner Bob Armstrong for paying for it. Kevin Sullivan (w/ The Nightstalker) vs Lynn Fields - Sullivan is DQ’d for throwing Fields over the top rope to the floor and the Nightstalker then has to cover Sullivan’s eyes to stop him from beating on Fields. INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan says that he has heard Brian Lee likes to gamble, so he has a deal for him. In Knoxville on 3/21, he would like to challenge him to a match never seen before, a Russian Roulette match. It could be any type of match, he’s not going to tell Lee the rules or what type of match it is, just come on down! The Nightstalker then tells Tim Horner that his luck has run out because he stuck his nose in his business and he has upset ‘The Master’, and no-on upsets ‘The Master’. Down & Dirty w/ Tony Anthony & Ron Wright - Dutch opens the show by recapping what happened between the Dirty White Boy and Tracey Smothers last week, before playing a video interview from Smothers. Smothers says that everyone saw what the Dirty White Boy did to him last week, he cost him $5,000 and cost him the TV title. He says that he has carried the rebel flag since he started in professional wrestling and a lot of people don't like it. To him, the confederate flag brings back good memories, it reminds him of where he came from, where his father came from and his father before him. Some northerners always try to make them look like dumb, backwards hillbillies, but we're proud of our home and by carrying that flag it was a message to those who knock them that we're proud of where we're from and we love where we're from. There is no place on earth that he would rather be than here in the South and the Dirty White Boy tried to take that away from them. He then tells the White Boy that Southern people will treat you like you treat them and that he's messed with the wrong man. Back in the studio and Dutch is now joined by Ron Wright and Tony Anthony. Wright says that he has never been so heartbroken in his life, he made Southern wrestling what it is, he’s the Southern living legend and all these people are cheering for this no good Tracey Smothers. It makes him feel ashamed and disgusted off the South. Bob Armstrong comes out and tells them that Smothers is getting his shot at the Dirty White Boy’s title on next week’s TV show. Wright can’t believe it and says that they’re going to move to New York City and they can have the South. Anthony states that it will take more than Tracey Smothers and Bob Armstrong to get this belt away from him. The Nightstalker vs Larry Santo INT: Brian Lee & Tim Horner INT: Rock & Roll Express - Ricky Morton says that they have two problems: first, every time they wrestle either the Heavenly Bodies or the Stud Stable it’s always three on two, the other problem is that every time they have the Heavenly Bodies beat, Jim Cornette pulls out one of his old tricks. He says that individually, one-on-one, they know they can beat either member of the Studs or the Bodies, but they’ve signed some six-man tag matches for Knoxville and Johnson City and have got themselves a mystery partner who hates Cornette as much as they do. Morton reiterates that one on one they could beat either member of the Stud Stable or Heavenly Bodies and when Bob Caudle asks who this mystery man is, he tells them that they’re keeping it a secret. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Jim Cornette & Bobby Eaton & Heavenly Bodies - Cornette says that he heard the Rock & Roll Express talking about this 'mystery partner', but they aren't worried because he knows that they can't find anyone who would give the Heavenly Bodies a fight. He then says how they had the gall to claim that either one of them could beat anyone of his guys individually, “but neither one of them could beat half of us with the other one helping!” At this point the Rock & Rolls come out, soon followed by Bob Armstrong. Ricky Morton says again that either he or Robert could beat any one of them at any time and Cornette tells him to prove it. Morton responds by telling him that they'll prove it right now, there is a ring right there, just pick someone? Armstrong says that if they want to go one on one that is up to them, he'll take care of the rest. Cornette picks Bobby Eaton to face Morton and Armstrong says he's going to ensure it's one on one, and gets security to take everyone else back to the dressing room. Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Ricky Morton - the Stud Stable and Dutch Mantel interfere for the cheap DQ finish, attacking both men and leading to the match being thrown out. Gibson and the Bodies come out to help their respective partners, soon followed by Killer Kyle. Larry Santo, Lynn Fields, Rip Rogers, Reno Riggins and Dixie Dy-No-Mite all rush out to try and separate everyone, but this appears just to be an excuse for Cornette to start waffling them with his tennis racket! The post-match here is great and a really wild and chaotic scene with everyone fighting amongst each other. Things only start to get restored when Bob Armstrong (sporting a fluorescent yellow cap) comes out saying that's enough and tries to calm the situation. I felt the match itself was nothing special (a phrase I'm tending to use a fair bit whilst watching the SMW set) and the fact that it started so late in the show meant that you kind of knew that it wasn't going overly long, even if in the past they have gone off the air with matches still in progress. 1993-02-20-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired February 20, 1993 Jellico High School, Jellico, TN Dutch Mantel draws the name of The Nightstalker out of the hat as the challenger for the TV title. They are joined by Tony Anthony who says that he told Tracey Smothers he won’t get that $5,000 bonus as there is no way that he can beat the Nightstalker. Heavenly Bodies & Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Dixie Dy-No-Mite & Reno Riggins & Lynn Fields - Dutch Mantel says on commentary that since President Clinton has lifted the ban on gays in the military, he doesn’t want Cornette and the Bodies knocking themselves out to run down there and enlist! INT: Rock & Roll Express - they’ve a number one contenders match against the Stud Stable later in today’s show INT: Bob Armstrong - says that since he’s been out of the country a lot of things have happened and he’s come back to total chaos. Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies have incorporated themselves, they’ve bought a new man in with Bobby Eaton and how can three men defend the tag team titles? They’re looking at the rulebooks right now and are going to find a way to get out of this mess. He notes that Paul Orndorff has been suspended indefinitely for his piledriver attack on referee Darryl Morris last week. He has warned him plenty in the past and when he learns to obey the rules he can come back. However the worst thing that happened whilst he was gone was that a regular insurance form came into their offices and the secretary signed it thinking it was just a medical request. It turns out it was a bill from Kevin Sullivan’s psychiatrist, it wasn’t cheap and now they’re stuck with it and have got to pay it or his lawyers will take them to court. He says that Sullivan has really been taking advantage and thinks that he has got the upper hand. He then gets them to play a video from Sullivan where he says that Smoky Mountain have agreed to pay for his therapy and he’s gone out and got the greatest therapist of all time, Dr Michael Phillips. Phillips says that they are going to take care of him and put him back together, but it’s going to take long sessions and his cranium will need massaging at least four or five times a day. He then calls in Nurse Kratchett (who is Nancy Sullivan) and Sullivan warns Bob Armstrong, Brian Lee, Mongolian Stomper and Tracey Smothers that he’s never lost any game that he’s played and raises a drink to everyone in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Brian Lee vs Larry Santo INT: Tim Horner, Ricky Morton INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan says that now Smoky Mountain Wrestling is paying for his therapy he is calm and serene, so Brian Lee and Tim Horner have nothing to worry about from him. He says that he is worried about the Nightstalker though as he hears him moaning and screaming out the names of Horner and Lee at night and thinks that he is starting to have real serious problems. The Nightstalker vs Tracey Smothers - Tony Anthony jumps Smothers from behind as he makes his way down the aisle to the ring, hitting him in the back with a chair, ramming him into the ring post and giving him a single arm DDT on the arena floor. We return from a break to see Bob Armstrong with Smothers and Bob Caudle and he says that he is fining the Dirty White Boy $1,000 and that Smothers is in no condition to wrestle, but he is going to go to the Board of Directors and try and get that $5,000 for him. Smothers tells him that he doesn’t want him to get anything for him, he’s going to earn $5,000 on his own, he didn’t come here to forfeit and then gets in the ring for the match. When Smothers gains control, Anthony runs back out, gets his attention and in full view of him starts cutting up the confederate flag. This distraction allows the Nightstalker to hit the powerbomb and become the new TV champion. The Dirty White Boy rips up the flag and then gets in the ring to attack Smothers. He handcuffs him to the ropes, the Nightstalker blocks the dressing room door so no-one can come to his aid and Anthony burns the confederate flag in full view of Smothers. The Rock & Roll Express and Tim Horner eventually break through and carrying an extinguisher they put the fire out and see the Dirty White Boy off. Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Ted Allen - Tracey Smothers comes out and has to be held back by Tim Horner, Dixie Dy-No-Mite and Reno Riggins. The match appears to be a no contest as Allen just leaves whilst Smothers tries to get in the ring to get at the Dirty White Boy, but is again held back. Number One Contender’s Match: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (w/ Dutch Mantel) vs Rock & Roll Express - Jim Cornette provides commentary whilst the Heavenly Bodies and Bobby Eaton show up at ringside with chairs, drinks and popcorn to get a better view of the action. Morton and Golden collide and Golden takes a fall outside of the ring right in front of where the Bodies are sat. Eaton throws popcorn at him and he responds by snatching the bag off him and hitting him with it. The popcorn goes everywhere and Eaton takes a pretty funny bump backwards off the chair. Eaton picks up a drink, throws it at Golden and Morton schoolboys him for the pin. Fun finish and the match itself was okay, nothing special or anything. It was often hard to concentrate on the match with Cornette's commentary and the Bodies and their antics at ringside. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - Fuller says that he’s tired of Jim Cornette. The Heavenly Bodies are going to pay, the Rock & Roll Express are going to pay, Cornette is going to pay and he warns them all to be ready. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-02-13-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired February 13, 1993 Newton Recreation Center, Newton, NC INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - the Dirty White Boy says that Reno Riggins made the biggest mistake of his life when he came out here, humiliated and embarrassed the living legend, Mr Ron Wright. He says that it’s about time that they start getting the respect that they deserve and they’re going to start with Riggins. Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Reno Riggins - Anthony punishes Riggins the whole match including picking him up after hitting him with his finisher. The Dirty White Boy unloads a barrage of punches to Riggins and as he appears to show him no sign of mercy, and as Riggins refuses to quit, Tracey Smothers comes out and throws in a towel to stop the match. Anthony kicks Riggins low after the match which leads to Smothers getting into the ring. The two of them just stare at each other before Anthony leaves and Mark Curtis reverses the decision and disqualifies him for the post match low blow. INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan says that he is ready to face Bob Armstrong’s family of rats! Kevin Sullivan (w/ The Nightstalker) vs Bart Batten - the Nightstalker interferes for the DQ. He powerbombs Batten and then Sullivan starts attacking him with the spike opening him up. Brian Lee runs out for the save and Sullivan and the Nightstalker make as if they are going to leave. Lee tends to Batten and pick him up to carry him from the ring, but Sullivan and the Nightstalker get back in the ring and attack him. Sean Powers and Johnny Kidd try to help but to no avail, and the heels only stop when Tim Horner carrying bar bells comes out. Down & Dirty - Dutch says that in one of the most serious breaches of wrestling etiquette in history, the feud between the Heavenly Bodies and the Rock & Roll Express has spilled over into other territories. At a recent WCW TV taping the Heavenly Bodies invaded WCW looking for the Rock & Roll Express and Dutch then plays footage of that ‘invasion’. Jim Cornette, Bobby Eaton and the Heavenly Bodies are out with Bill Watts and Jim Ross on an episode of WCW Saturday Night. Cornette says that he and Stan Lane walked out of WCW two years ago because the people that run this company tried to make the Midnight Express look like idiots. After they left they found Dr Tom Prichard and formed another tag team the Heavenly Bodies, went to Smoky Mountain Wrestling where they appreciate wrestling talent and became the SMW tag team champions. Then all of a sudden, like some sort of cancer, the Rock & Roll Express appear and steal their tag team belts. Next thing he knows he is sat at home watching TV and Bill Watts is showing the Rock & Roll Express beating their brains out on national television. He tells Watts that he is not going to stand for it, he broke up the Midnight Express because he didn’t want TBS to make them look like idiots and he’ll be damned if he’ll let them do it to the Heavenly Bodies, especially when they don’t even work here. He says that he bought back Bobby Eaton, a man that they have used and abused for two years, and they got their titles back. He tells Watts that he wants a public apology for showing that video to everyone, for trying to make them look like clowns and if they don’t he’s going to file a suit against Watts, TBS, WCW and Ted Turner if he has to. Watts says that there are a lot of people he would apologize to but Cornette isn’t one of them. He says that he has been working with Bob Armstrong to get all the necessary releases required to show that footage and next time he butts in on their show he’ll get Doug Dillinger and Atlanta’s finest to escort him straight to jail. Cornette responds that he should get the Rock & Roll Express arrested and put in jail for murder as last week they came out and killed his ratings! The Rock & Rolls come out and Watts tells them if they want to settle it in the ring they can do so in their ring, on neutral ground. This leads to an impromptu match between the teams with all participants in their street wear. The Rock & Rolls hit the double dropkick on Prichard when Eaton interferes for the DQ. The three of them plus Cornette then beat on the Express, while a bunch of lower level WCW guys try to help but just get beaten down themselves. After airing this segment Dutch has a summit meeting in the dressing room with Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden. Golden isn’t happy that the Heavenly Bodies and Rock & Roll Express are only concerned with each other, they’re going off into other federations, when are the Stud Stable going to get an acknowledgement round here? Fuller then tells Cornette they’re going to get their attention and he better be looking out for it, because if they don’t, they’ll just get them from behind. INT: Tim Horner & Brian Lee - Horner says that he told Lee he would be there for him no matter what and that he will be in Knoxville on 2/19 as well. Lee says that Kevin Sullivan claims that he’s crazy, well he’s not all there himself now and come 2/19, First Blood, he’s busting him wide open. Rock & Roll Express vs Dark Secret & Robbie Eagle INT: Rock & Roll Express - Morton says that the only thing on their mind is to get the SMW tag team titles round their waist. Jim Cornette may talk about the Heavenly Bodies being a corporation, but it doesn’t matter to them as they’ve been through a lot with the Midnight Express, things haven’t changed, just the name. He then tells Cornette any time, any place he wants to put the belts up they’ll be ready. They’re interrupted by Cornette who is in the ring with the Bodies and Bobby Eaton and he challenges them to get in the ring right now. Bob Caudle says that they’re outnumber 4 on 2, Cornette calls them yellow and Morton responds that “sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do” and they make their way to the ring to accept the challenge. It doesn’t take long before the Bodies and Eaton gain the advantage, then Cornette joins in the attack with his racket and laying the boots into the Rock & Rolls. Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden and Dutch Mantel come out and the Studs start clobbering the Bodies with chairs (Prichard and Lane protect themselves, but Eaton takes some pretty brutal shots from Fuller). When the Bodies flee, they turn their attention to the Rock & Rolls, destroy them with chair shots and leave them laying in the ring. Good angle, the Stud Stable finally will get their acknowledgement and after the attack on the Rock & Rolls there is no way they will be turned face (which at times looked as though it could have happened with this storyline) The ring announcer introduces Paul Lee for the TV title match but Tony Anthony and Paul Orndorff come walking down the aisle. The Dirty White Boy gets on the mic and says that Lee has come down with the flu or possibly pneumonia, but Mr Wonderful knew how important this match is so he is going to take his place. Paul Orndorff (w/ Tony Anthony) vs Tracey Smothers - Anthony is up on the apron arguing with the referee for stopping Orndorff go for a piledriver. Smothers catapults Orndorff into him and as the Dirty White Boy takes a bump to the floor, Smothers schoolboys Orndorff for the pin. After the match Orndorff piledrives the referee holding him responsible for the loss. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette INT: Tracey Smothers - says the win over Paul Orndorff is the biggest of his career, but he can’t believe what he did to referee Darryl Morris, what’s wrong with him? He is interrupted by Tony Anthony who says that there is no way Smothers is going to get that $5,000 bonus for successfully defending the TV title five times because he is going to see to it personally. He then tells him that he will never get a shot at his Heavyweight title either. Smothers tells him to shine that belt up because he is going to kick his ass and then take that title! Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired February 6, 1993 Newton Recreation Center, Newton, NC INT: Ron Wright & Robbie Eagle - Wright claims that Eagle is one of the top amateur wrestlers in the world, he’s trained him for about five minutes, given him a bit of professional wrestling knowledge and he’s now going to show Reno Riggins what a man he has taken under his wing can do. Robbie Eagle (w/ Ron Wright) vs Reno Riggins - Tony Anthony joins them on commentary for this match. Riggins gest the pin and after the match the Dirty White Boy gets in the ring and browbeats him for turning down Wright’s offer before slapping him hard across the face. INT: Reno Riggins - he’s upset and wants a match with the Dirty White Boy next week INT: Bob Armstrong - telephone interview from ‘Japan’. Armstrong says that he’s had the film of last week’s tag title match sent to him and once he’s watched it he’ll be able to make a decision about everything. He then tells Tom Prichard that if any Smoky Mountain official catches him using the loaded boot he’ll be fined $5,000. INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan says that Bob Armstrong is the sick individual as it is he who signed the first blood match between him and Brian Lee for 2/19. The Nightstalker tells them it is not a good idea to get ‘The Master’ upset because they can do what they want, when they want to do it. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Johnny Kidd INT: Rock & Roll Express - they want their titles back and it’s just like old times now Bobby Eaton has gotten involved INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies & Bobby Eaton - Cornette gets them to replay the video of the happiest day of his life, the title match from last week, where with a little help from their old pal Bobby Eaton they regained the tag titles. Cornette says how they have some six-man matches signed against the Stud Stable and it’s obvious that those matches will be Stan, Tom & Bobby versus Fuller, Golden & Mantel, but the question was bought up that they have defenses against the Rock & Roll Express and who is going to defend the belts? Cornette states that the Heavenly Bodies are a corporation, that’s how he signed the papers with Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Heavenly Bodies Inc. That means any member of the corporation can defend the titles, and the Rock & Rolls will never know until the match which members of the corporation they will be facing. Brian Lee vs Dark Secret - Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker comes out after the match and corner Lee but Tim Horner rushes out, throws Lee a 2x4 and the heels retreat back to the dressing room. INT: Brian Lee & Tim Horner - Horner says that ever since Lee came to SMW they’ve been pretty good friends and every time he gets Kevin Sullivan where he wants him, he has to worry about that Nightstalker. Horner tells him that friends stick together and when Lee has his First Blood match against Sullivan on 5/19, he has a match against the Nightstalker first on the same night and is going to make sure that Lee gets a fair crack at Sullivan. Lee says that every now and again you have to take it up a notch and on 5/19 he’s going to bust Sullivan’s head wide open. Tracey Smothers vs Sean Powers INT: Tracey Smothers - if he can win two more matches he gets a $5,000 bonus and can retire as champion undefeated. He tells the Dirty White Boy that he is hot on his trail and if he wants some of him he hasn’t got to go very far. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette Brad & Bart Batten vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (w/ Dutch Mantel) - Jim Cornette joins Bob Caudle to provide commentary on this match and Fuller gets the submission with a unique leglock INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - Bob Caudle asks them about the submission hold and Golden says that it is a leg breaker. The world famous Fuller leglock and there isn’t a man who has escaped from it yet. Fuller then says that they want a title shot against the Heavenly Bodies, but if the Rock & Roll Express want to try and stand in their way, just try it. Golden states that they were robbed out of their title match and they’re going to get it one way or another, The Heavenly Bodies, the Rock & Roll Express, it doesn’t matter who it is! Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired January 30, 1993 Newton Recreation Center, Newton, NC Tim Horner vs Dark Secret INT: Paul Orndorff - says he’s beaten Ron Simmons, Ron Garvin and Hulk Hogan, he’s done everything that a wrestler could possibly do, but there are certain people here in Smoky Mountain Wrestling not giving Mr Wonderful the respect he deserves. He says that someone is going to get hurt real bad until he gets the respect that he needs. INT: Brian Lee - he has bought a couple of videos with him and asks for them to be played; it is footage of him getting busted open on two previous occasions at the hands of Kevin Sullivan. He says that he has been to Commissioner Armstrong and said that he needs to take care of his problem with Sullivan once and for all, so he has granted him a first blood match against him on 2/19. Falls don’t count and the first man to bleed loses the match. Kevin Sullivan may have drawn first blood, but he’s doing to draw the last. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Kevin Sullivan (w/ The Nightstalker) vs Johnny Kidd - during the match Dutch Mantel says that Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden haven’t arrived yet, he left them at the hotel in Charlotte but assures everyone that they will be here. Sullivan gets DQ’d in the match for relentlessly beating on Kidd, and the Nightstalker has to come in the ring and cover his eyes to calm him down and stop the attack. INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan says that he really isn’t a bad guy, it’s just that persecution makes people do bad things. Commissioner Armstrong tried to keep him out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling because of his violent past, but we all make mistakes, Armstrong sees four of his every time he comes down for breakfast! When he couldn’t keep him out of SMW he hired the Mongolian Stomper but he couldn’t get the job done, then he got Brian Lee out of his sick bed, but Mr Lee’s head met the golden spike and it split like a pineapple. He then tells Armstrong that he is getting into his personal life as he was sitting with his analyst the other day and there was a fly in the room which landed on his hand. In the past he would’ve swatted that fly or pulled its wings off, but he did nothing and they all said look at him, he wouldn’t even harm a fly now, but now Bob Armstrong wants Brian Lee to draw blood on him in the first blood match? Sullivan then starts to rant and the Nightstalker covers his eyes to calm him down and takes him away from the interview area. Down & Dirty w/ Ron Wright - Dutch has asked him here because today is the day that Reno Riggins is going to give him an answer. Dutch brings Riggins onto the show and Wright says that we already know what the man’s going to say, “he can’t turn the famed Ron Wright down!” Riggins says that he though over the offer long and hard these past few weeks, has spoken with his family, his friends and even some of the fans. However his father told him if you can’t do something on your own then just don’t do it at all, so he’s going to stand alone and will have to turn the offer down. Wright is livid “You’re turning down the great Ron Wright? I’m the walking, talking living legend in wrestling.” He can’t believe this, he’s never had anyone turn him down in his life. Wright says that he could take a man off the street and teach him enough in five minutes to whip that lame brain idiot, he doesn’t even know why he made him the offer in the first place. Mantel has to calm Wright down as he starts clutching at his heart. Bob Caudle has been handed a note saying that the Stud Stable still haven’t arrived so Dutch Mantel goes off to investigate Tracey Smothers vs Brad Batten INT: Jim Cornette & Sandy Scott - note: it has been announced that Bob Armstrong is Japan for a few weeks on business as Smoky Mountain Wrestling has been getting a lot of coverage in the wrestling magazines over there recently. Cornette thinks that Scott does a great job and would hate to see these fine viewers of Smoky Mountain Wrestling be deprived of a title match that they were promised. He asks Scott if the Stud Stable don’t get here on time and as he’s promised the people a title match, “Hey, false advertising is very bad,” could the Heavenly Bodies then take that match? Dutch Mantel comes back and enquires about what is going on. Scott says that they’ve told the fans that there will be a tag title match here tonight, and if the Stud Stable don’t get here on time then the Heavenly Bodies can have it. Cornette starts jumping up and down and laughing, whilst Dutch insists that they will still be here. Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Rock & Roll Express - The Rock & Rolls dominate the early part of the match until the Stud Stable show up at ringside in their street clothes. Dutch (who is superb on commentary here) questions where they have been and Robert Fuller says that they've been changing their car tyres at the Motel in Charlotte. He says that they've been trying to shaft them, Bob Armstrong is in Japan so they bought in this bogus “Bob Armstrong impersonator” (Sandy Scott) that no-one has ever seen before and they took their match away from them and gave it to the Heavenly Bodies. Lane catapults Morton over the top rope to the floor when referee Mark Curtis is distracted with Robert Gibson and Cornette hits him with his racket. The Bodies go to work on Ricky, who eventually makes the tag and all four go at it in the ring. Lane whips Morton into the ropes and Cornette hooks his leg tripping him. Curtis steps outside the ring on to the apron to have words with Cornette. Morton escapes a bodyslam from Lane, Oklahoma roll, but they collide with Curtis who takes this great flying bump from the apron to the arena floor. Morton has Lane rolled up and Cornette gets in the ring and is about to blast him with the tennis racket when Gibson stops him. The two of them fight over the racket, Gibson gets the upper hand and just tosses the weapon aside. Morton decks Cornette, double dropkick to Lane, Gibson covers him but no referee. Morton goes to get Curtis who is still KO'ed at ringside, Cornette calls out Killer Kyle and he levels Morton in the head with a blackjack knocking him out. The Stud Stable return and go after Kyle, Gibson sees what's happening and that Morton is out, thinks the Stud Stable have done it and goes out after them and gets it on with Jimmy Golden. Dutch vacates the commentary desk to go and see what is happening, Prichard loads the boot but Dutch grabs his foot, pulls off what he had loaded it with and stops him using it. Mantel throws the weapon to Morton, he decks Prichard and Gibson covers him. Lane and Morton start fighting when Bobby Eaton shows up, Alabama Jam to the back of Gibson's head and he puts Dr Tom on top of him. Mantel rolls the referee in the ring, oblivious to what has just happened, Curtis counts the three and the Bodies are the champions again. One of the problems with SMW is that there is a tendency for matches to be needlessly overbooked, but this was anything but the case here. Everything that happened in the match made perfect sense, nothing felt contrived in the slightest (heck, even Mark Curtis took a realistic bump for a change) and it was like an old Bill Watts booked Mid-South angle where everything that happened was for a reason and not one hole in what was booked. Very good match and just a wonderful closing stretch with the run ins. Genius! INT: Jim Cornette INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies & Bobby Eaton - Cornette is happy that they are the champions again and says that it shouldn't be a surprise “as Jim Cornette gets things done,” not only that but Bobby Eaton is now back where he belongs too. He tells the Rock & Roll Express and the Stud Stable that the two greatest tag teams of all time have combined into a single unit, they're together, are the champions and will remain as so. Stanfield says that it is the greatest day of their life when out comes the Stud Stable and Dutch Mantel. Cornette says that they were scared, that's why they didn't show up and made this cock and bull story about four flat tyres over at the motel... at which point Fuller says “four flat tyres! You son of a bitch!” and the Studs attack the Bodies and Eaton. The Rock & Rolls return to join in the fight and a wild brawl between all three teams takes place. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-01-23-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired January 23, 1993 Dixie Dy-No-Mite vs Paul Lee Brian Lee vs Kevin Sullivan (jip, from Barbourville, KY) - with Lee in control one of Kevin Sullivan’s followers tries to interfere in the match. Lee stops him as he is perched on the top turnbuckle and throws him to the canvas but he crashes into referee Mark Curtis. This allows Sullivan to get hold of a spike and start another attack on Lee. He continues to spike him whilst a big red cross with ‘censored’ written on it is put up on the screen to try and obstruct the view of the ‘attack’. The follower also gets involved and the attack only ceases when Sandy Scott comes down and gets into the ring and tells Sullivan he will be suspended for life if he doesn’t stop. INT: Brian Lee - dressing room interview. Says he’s sick and tired of Kevin Sullivan busting his head open with something every time that they meet. He guarantees him that next time he will be the one to bleed, and he may have drawn the first blood but he will draw the last. INT: Bob Armstrong - says that Smoky Mountain Wrestling isn’t big enough for both Kevin Sullivan and Brian Lee, someone is going to get hurt badly and someone is going to get hurt permanently. He says that he is behind Brian Lee and he’s going to do his best to find someone to help him get rid of Sullivan. He then tells Sullivan that no matter how many letters he and his lawyers write, they at Smoky Mountain are not going to pay for his psychiatric evaluation or psychiatric therapy and that’s a fact. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - the Dirty White Boy says that Tracey Smothers owes him $10,000 for defeating him last week, as no-one would have been able to beat him for ten straight weeks! He tells Smothers that he won’t be in professional wrestling for long when he gets through with him as there is only one man who rules professional wrestling in the Smoky Mountain area and you’re looking at him. Bob Caudle then asks Wright if he’s had any word off Reno Riggins this week but Wright is disgusted. A man of his caliber giving him the opportunity of a lifetime and he still hasn’t given him an answer? He’s about to pop an artery and will have to double up on his heart medicine! He tells Riggins he better get his mind made up as he needs all the help he can get. Tracey Smother vs Reno Riggins - Ron Wright is at ringside to watch the bout and to offer some advice to Riggins. It makes no difference as Smothers gets the win in what was a fairly competitive match. INT: Tracey Smothers - he tells the Dirty White Boy if he wants some of him he hasn’t got to go very far. He then says that Reno Riggins is a tremendous athlete and calls him over. Smothers tells him that he has got a tremendous amount of talent and doesn’t need that Ron Wright, he’s been on that side of the fence and it’s the wrong road. He tells him he is star bound, is one of the best scientific wrestlers he’s ever faced and he’s faced everybody. Bob Caudle then asks him if he’s made a decision yet, but Riggins says he would rather not touch on that at the moment, however he would like to thank Tracey Smothers for saying all those nice things about him and the fans for backing him. Down & Dirty w/ Tim Horner - opens with a recap of what happened between Paul Orndorff and Horner on last week’s episode of Down & Dirty. Dutch says that he doesn’t agree with the way Orndorff acted last week and thinks that Horner did the right thing by coming out and doing what he did. Horner then tells Orndorff if he’s got something to say, say it to his face, don’t talk about his family, his friends and especially his fans. Lengthy history package on what’s happened between the Rock & Roll Express, the Heavenly Bodies and the Stud Stable INT: Tony Anthony INT: Bob Armstrong - he has chosen the Stud Stable as the number one contenders and they will face the Rock & Roll Express on TV for the tag team titles next week. They are interrupted by Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies who say that they are the number one contenders and that they should have a shot at the belts. Armstrong tells him that they’ve had their chances, the Stud Stable haven’t had any yet, so he is giving them one. Cornette responds by saying they haven’t had a chance to cure cancer or do heart surgery either, that’s because they’re not qualified and they’re not qualified to be the tag team champions, we are! He then warns Dutch Mantel that they Stud Stable better stay out of their business from now on and he’s going to call his Mama’s attorneys and see about this title situation. Armstrong tells him if he wants to call someone, here’s a quarter, call anyone you want to and then leaves them to it. Dutch returns with the Studs and Lane tells them that they don’t deserve a title match. A shoving match ensues before they agree to go to the ring and an impromptu match takes place. Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden (w/ Dutch Mantel) - the show goes off the air with the match still in progress Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-01-16-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired January 16, 1993 East High School, Morristown, TN INT: Ron Wright & Tony Anthony - Anthony says that he’s the Heavyweight champion so why would he want another title? What he wants is the money. Every time you win a ‘Beat the Champ’ match you get $1,000 and you get to come back the following week and win another $1,000. He’s not bothered by the title, what he wants is the money! They then bring in Reno Riggins and Bob Caudle says how last week Ron Wright offered him what he considered “a fantastic proposition”. Wright says that he offered him the opportunity of his life, all he has to do is help he and the Dirty White Boy out, carry his bags, see that he gets his heart and arthritis medicine on time and they’ll take him under their wing, train him and good things will come along. Riggins says that there’s a lot going on his mind at the moment and asks Wright if he can have a little more time to make his decision. Wright can’t believe it. He’s the living legend of wrestling and he wants more time? “Jesus!” Down & Dirty w/ Paul Orndorff - opens with a recap of last week’s tag match between Orndorff & Tony Anthony vs Ron Garvin & Tim Horner. Orndorff doesn’t understand why there is all this fuss over Tim Horner and why people want to rally around him? He says that Mr Wonderful is an international star, he’s just been on WCW and beat Ron Simmons, Mr Wonderful is what everyone should aspire to be like. He brings out a child from the audience and asks him who his favorite wrestler is, and the kid replies with Tim Horner. Orndorff says that Horner is just a local hillbilly, but he’s going to talk to the lad and give him the chance to get on the side of Mr Wonderful. Orndorff then tears up the child’s foam lightning bolt and as he’s doing so gets jumped by Horner. The two of them fight all the way to the ring, and with Horner in charge Orndorff ends up retreating to the back. INT: Tracey Smothers, Rock & Roll Express Beat the Champ, Elimination Match: Jimmy Golden vs Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Tracey Smothers - Kyle is eliminated almost immediately as Smothers small packages him, and then Golden and the Dirty White Boy appear to decide to work together to eliminate Smothers (although Golden does all the work). Smothers gets rid of Golden after the Stud Stable member whips him into the turnbuckle and runs in after him, Smothers jumps up, hooks his legs under Golden's armpits and rolls forward and through to get the pin. On to the Dirty White Boy and he is controlling things at first until he charges at Smothers, who moves and Anthony takes a fall out of the ring. Poor old Ron Wright appears to be having a heart attack on seeing this! Anthony goes for a crossbody off the top, Smothers rolls through (a favorite finish in SMW!) and gets the final pin to become the first TV champion. I thought that this was a decent match. Getting rid of Kyle early was for the better, it was one of the best Golden performances I have seen in SMW and we get a taster of Smothers vs Dirty White Boy. With the match starting so early in the show I was expecting it to go longer than it did, but it wasn't an issue to me. With Tim Horner now being moved on to a feud with Paul Orndorff it also clearly establishes Smothers as the top contender to Anthony's Heavyweight title with him getting the final fall on him. INT: Tracey Smothers - thinks that he may have cracked some ribs but is glad to be $1,000 richer and even happier to be the first SMW Television champion Video of a backstage altercation between the Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette and Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden - The Bodies are getting ready to cut a local promo (Stan is sporting a baseball cap, roll neck, leather jacket and the wrestler's staple, the fanny pack; hardly looking like the Gangsta of Love here!) when they are interrupted by the Stud Stable. Jimmy Golden tells them that they're afraid to do an interview with them, just like they're afraid to get in the ring with them. Cornette responds by saying that the only thing they're afraid of is them and Dutch Mantel having a heart attack, and that they shouldn't be called the Stud Stable, but the “Over the Hill Gang”. It descends into a pushing contest between them all before they are separated. INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies - Cornette says that they don't appreciate the Stud Stable messing in their business and they were never friends in the first place, they just said that to try and make them feel good. They want their belts back, they want the Rock & Roll Express and are sick of the Stud Stable interfering in their title matches, trying to get on their nerves and trying to take their minds off what they're doing. Bob Armstrong comes out and says that in two weeks there will be a title match here on TV between the Rock & Rolls and the number one contenders. Cornette automatically believes that's them, but Armstrong says maybe it is, maybe it isn't, maybe the Stud Stable are the number one contenders but he's got two weeks to decide who is. Armstrong finishes by telling Tom Prichard that he's noticed he's been using that boot a fair bit, is going to do an investigation on it and if he finds anything up with it they're all going to be in a lot of trouble. He then warns him that he's going to be keeping an eye on that foot! This elicits a hilarious response from Cornette “Who does he think he is? Mel Phillips or somebody? Keeping an eye on the man's foot!” Cornette then believes it's the latest conspiracy from Armstrong ready to rip them off over the titles yet again, but Lane says that it doesn't matter as they're getting their title belts back. Kevin Sullivan vs Mongolian Stomper - The Nightstalker comes out to second Sullivan midway into the bout. Sullivan throws fire at the Stomper and the two of them double team him until Brian Lee makes the save. The Stomper just disappears to the back (Dutch suggests to get treated for the burns) and they go to work on Lee’s injured ribs. A second referee, Mark Curtis, comes out but he gets attacked and then Chris Comet, Dixie Dy-No-Mite and Tracey Smothers all rush out to prevent a repeat of what happened on ‘The Master’s’ debut. The Stomper looks far too old and unthreatening to be taken seriously as this almost psychopathic madman. INT: Tony Anthony, Rock & Roll Express INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - Sullivan swears on hell that Brian Lee and the Mongolian Stomper are going to be maimed one way or another. Lee comes out swinging an iron bar but Sullivan gets hold of a chair and the two of them start double teaming him, going to work on his ribs. The Mongolian Stomper comes to Lee’s rescue using his boot as a weapon and they brawl to the back as the show closes. Bold matches are PWO recommended

    1993-01-09-SMW-TV

Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Aired January 9, 1993 INT: Bob Armstrong - announces that next week they’ll crown their first ‘Beat the Champ’ TV champion. He says that four men have been selected at random to take part in the match and they are Jimmy Golden, Killer Kyle, Tracey Smothers and Tony Anthony. INT: Brian Lee & Mongolian Stomper - Lee’s ribs still aren’t 100% but Kevin Sullivan didn’t get the job done. He says that The Nightstalker has all the attributes to be a great wrestler but he doesn’t have a mind because Sullivan is leading him around like a dog, and if you want to talk about lunatics check out his partner, he doesn’t have one brain cell left and it will be curtains for Kevin Sullivan when they get their hands on him. Brian Lee & Mongolian Stomper vs Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker (highlights, from Christmas Chaos) INT: Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker - The Nightstalker says that Brian Lee made a grave mistake, he came out of the hospital too early, he’s not ready and he can’t beat this team. He doesn’t care who he brings as Bob Armstrong can’t help him, the Mongolian Stomper can’t help him either, there is no-one anywhere who can beat ‘The Master’ and The Nightstalker. INT: Tony Anthony, Jim Cornette Chris Comet vs Jeff Daniels INT: Bob Armstrong - he is joined by Tim Horner and J.T. who is carrying the SMW Heavyweight title. Horner says that in his mind he pinned the Dirty White Boy for the three a few weeks ago, but knows that Armstrong has a job to do and if he has to give the belt back that is what he’ll do. He guarantees the White Boy that next time there won’t be any discrepancies, he’ll beat him for the three count and the title will be his. Horner returns the belt to Armstrong who says that he’s going to give him another chance against the Dirty White Boy. Down & Dirty w/ Ron Wright - Ron is so happy at the moment; he’s managing the Dirty White Boy who is the Heavyweight champion, he’s beaten everyone in the country and before too long they’re going to be having the TV title too. He then says that he’s been watching Reno Riggins and this man has showed him a lot of potential. Wright gets them to play some footage of Riggins in action from previous weeks before he joins them on Down & Dirty. Wright tells him that he has some real raw potential and if he had an old pro like the legendary Ron Wright to give him a few pointers and a little coaching, he could probably make a star out of him like he did with the Dirty White Boy. He says that he’s been mulling the idea over and talking to the Dirty White Boy about it and tells Riggins if he comes in and signs a contract with him they’ll let him go to all the matches with them. He may have to polish the Dirty White Boy’s belt, his boots, carry his bags, but he will be associated with the top wrestler and manager in the world. Riggins says that ever since he came to Smoky Mountain he wanted to be a champion and if Ron wouldn’t mind he’d like to think his offer over for a bit. Wright isn’t happy that he wants to think on an offer from the “world renowned wrestler and brain of the wrestling empire” Mr Ron Wright. He tells him that if he wants to think about it he better do his thinking quickly, as an offer like this only comes across once in a lifetime. Dutch closes the show by telling Riggins that it is a good offer. INT: Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden & Dutch Mantel - Golden says to Dutch that he knows he's got them a title match and wants to know when and where it is? Dutch sheepishly responds that he hasn't got them a title shot yet but is been working on it. He went to see Bob Armstrong in his offices and Armstrong told him to leave, he wouldn't even speak with him saying it is none of his concern and he wanted to speak to “you guys”. Fuller then tells him that maybe he should take a lesson from Jim Cornette as he has taken a mediocre team like the Heavenly Bodies and has gotten them somewhere. He then guarantees that the first time that the Stud Stable step in the ring with the Heavenly Bodies or the Rock & Roll Express that they will find out who the greatest tag team who ever wrestling in Smoky Mountain Wrestling is. Golden says that the Rock & Rolls should be called the drugstore toy champions as they've beaten them numerous times, they could beat the Bodies too and deserve a title match. Handicap Match: Heavenly Bodies & Jim Cornette vs Rock & Roll Express (from Christmas Chaos) - The Stud Stable make their way to ringside and Prichard nails Gibson with the loaded boot and covers him. Meanwhile Mark Curtis is seeing to Jimmy Golden and trying to get him down from the apron whilst at the same time Cornette is trying to drag him over to count the pin. With Curtis still distracted, Morton comes off the top on to Prichard, pulls Gibson on top, Curtis turns round and makes the three count. After the match the Stud Stable and the Bodies square off, Cornette passes the tennis racket to Lane and three of them beat on the Studs until the Rock & Rolls come back out to run the Bodies off. The Rock & Rolls then offer their hands to the Stud Stable but they attack them instead, with Tim Horner and Tracey Smothers having to save the Express from the attack. INT: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies & Killer Kyle - Cornette thinks that the Stud Stable are sticking their noses in their business and that's not where it belongs. He tells them that they better stick their nose in somebody else’s business besides the Heavenly Bodies, as they want the Rock & Roll Express and aren't in the mood for anyone getting in their way. Lane says that they have nothing against semi-pro baseball players, nothing against minor league hockey players and nothing against Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden... As far as small time regional champions, they're some of the best, but they should stick to the Armory's, the moose lodges and High Schools and leave the international stars, cable TV and the big jobs, like the Rock & Roll Express, to them. Cornette then tells Bob Caudle to tell his broadcast partner to stick to talking instead of trying to manage as he'd hate something to happen to their friendship. INT: Sawyer Brown Paul Orndorff & Tony Anthony (w/ Ron Wright) vs Tim Horner & Ron Garvin - Orndorff pins Horner after nailing him with some brass knux that Ron Wright first passed to the Dirty White Boy, who then passed them onto Mr Wonderful. Bold matches are PWO recommended
