World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired July 29, 1989 (Taped June 28, 1989) Community War Memorial, Rochester, NY Hart Foundation vs Dave Coleman & Barry Horowitz WWF Update: recap of Dusty Rhodes and Big Bossman from last week’s show. Dusty Rhodes says how he’s still got the nightstick and cuffs and if the Bossman wants his toys back, come and get them! Widow Maker vs Jim Chapel Brutus Beefcake vs Chuck Williams Mr Perfect vs Bill Wood INT: Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake - in vast contrast to the interviews leading up to Wrestlemania, these ones are awful with way too much talk and waffle on potions and cauldrons. Jimmy Snuka vs Iron Mike Sharpe Brother Love show w/ Andre the Giant & Bobby Heenan - they are joined by the Ultimate Warrior who says that when they eventually meet in the ring, he’ll beat him 1-2-3. Prior to the Warrior coming out, Love was saying how we’d see the Warrior scared for the first time when he comes face to face with the Giant. World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired July 22, 1989 (Taped June 28, 1989) Community War Memorial, Rochester, NY King Duggan vs The Gladiator WWF Update: Summerslam update where Gene Okerlung runs down the card so far Big Bossman (w/ Slick) vs Jim McPherson - after Bossman gets the pin he is about to give the jobber the customary nightstick beating when Dusty Rhodes makes the save. He snatches the club from Slick and when the Bossman tries to rush him, Dusty hits him with the nightstick then he and Slick end up making their way to the back. Brain Busters (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs Dave Paradise & Mike Peskin Red Rooster vs Chris Evans INT: Randy Savage & Sensational Sherri & Zeus - Savage says that Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake fell into their trap and this time they’ve bitten off more than they can chew. Rick Martel (w/ Slick) vs Terry Daniels Brother Love show w/ Dusty Rhodes - Love tells him that he is making a big mistake getting involved in the Big Bossman’s business. Rhodes is carrying the nighstick and cuffs that he took from the Bossman earlier and then proceeds to talk in jive making little sense, talking about “Americana” and “good times.” He gets them to play his music, Love storms off the set and Dusty dances. Jack Tunney says that Garvin’s unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated and any reoccurrence of this will result in a long suspension. Greg Valentine then says that Garvin is the worse ref in the WWF and should be suspended now, and never referee again. World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired July 8, 1989 (Taped June 6, 1989) Dane County Expo Center, Madison, WI Jimmy Snuka vs Tom Stone WWF Update: recap of Rick Martel and Tito Santana from last week’s Brother Love show A fan comments on No Holds Barred Twin Towers (w/ Slick) vs Jim Evans & Ron Fails Dusty Rhodes ‘Garbage Man’ vignette Dino Bravo (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs Brad Perry - referee Ron Garvin disqualifies Bravo. Bravo swings a punch at Garvin post-match, he ducks and they start fighting, with the other referees coming out to separate them. Rockers vs Tom Burton & Dusty Wolfe INT: Hulk Hogan - says that if you Hulkamaniacs don’t go and see No Holds Barred he’ll bodyslam you! Brother Love show w/ Randy Savage & Sensational Sherri - Savage says that there is a plot going on against him by Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake because they realise that they can’t defeat him one on one, so they’re thinking of double teaming him. Savage then says that he has got someone to watch his back, a human wrecking machine, they then introduce Zeus, and Savage tells Hogan and Beefcake to accept the challenge any time, any place. Martel says that he is glad he’s free of Santana as it was he who carried Strike Force and that he stinks, at which point out comes Tito. Slick gets in Tito’s face and Santana open hand slaps him knocking him down, then Martel and he start brawling on the set having to be separated by some officials. World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired June 3, 1989 (Taped May 17, 1989) Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, Duluth, MN Brutus Beefcake vs Tom Stone WWF Update: Gene Okerlund is outside the cinema on the premiere weekend of No Holds Barred where every fan that he speaks to has nothing but praise for the movie and Hulk Hogan’s performance. Brain Busters (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs Eddie Slater & Tom Stock Scene from No Holds Barred featuring Zeus Jimmy Snuka vs Boris Zhukov (w/ Slick) (from Saturday Night’s Main Event) INT: Greg Valentine & Jimmy Hart - Valentine says that he has put more wrestlers out of the WWF than anyone with his Figure Four leglock, and he is going to dedicate his next match to Ron Garvin. Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs Chris Zarna Tito Santana vs Jake Milliman - with Ron Garvin as the referee. Milliman proceeds to argue with Garvin who ends up KO’ing him with one punch. Brother Love show w/ Slick - Love enquires as to whether Slick is trying to sign the man who flattened Hulk Hogan on SNME, Zeus. Slick is not giving anything away, but does inform us that he is off to the theatres this weekend to check out the real star of No Holds Barred. Barbarian (w/ Mr Fuji) vs Lance Allen Dusty Rhodes ‘Pizza Man’ vignette King Duggan vs Dave Wagner - after the match Bobby Heenan runs down to ringside to try and steal the crown but is caught in the act by Duggan who tosses him into the ring. As he goes after Heenan, Haku tries to jump him from behind but Duggan gets the better of him which leads to Andre the Giant coming out to help his family member. Big John Studd then makes the save to even up the sides and after he and Andre exchange chops, a shot to the mid-section sees the Giant tumble through the ropes to the floor. Andre ends up getting back in the ring but receives more of the same. INT: Hulk Hogan - apparently No Holds Barred is going to set box office records around the world! The Rooster rolls up the Brawler as he was arguing with Garvin, and then proceeds to attack Garvin after the match but comes out on the short end of things. World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired May 6, 1989 (Taped April 4, 1989) Glens Falls Civic Center, Glens Falls, NY Rockers vs Boris Zhukov & George South WWF Update: Recap of the Greg Valentine and Ron Garvin situation from the past two weeks. Greg Valentine & Jimmy Hart say that they have put Garvin out of wrestling forever and will never have to see him again. They’re then joined by Garvin who says that he’s a man of his word and will never wrestle in the WWF again, but he’s been appointed special trouble shooting referee and is going to make sure guys like Valentine don’t get away with anything. No Holds Barred trailer Honky Tonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs Chuck Williams Red Rooster vs Iron Mike Sharpe - with Ron Garvin as the referee. Sharpe moans at Garvin post-match and then shoves him. Garvin responds by decking him. Barbarian (w/ Mr Fuji) vs Tony Durante Jimmy Snuka vignette Hercules vs Brian Oliver Brother Love show w/ King Haku & Bobby Heenan - Heenan says that Jim Duggan is nowhere near royalty and probably has saw dust for brains, but if he wants a chance at the crown and cape, then bring it on, any time, any place. Scene from No Holds Barred Virgil vs Jake Roberts - it was scheduled to be Ted Dibiase vs Roberts, but we go to Tony Schiavone backstage in the dressing room with a ‘clearly unwell’ Dibiase, who has been advised not to wrestle by his doctor. He continues to insult them and smells his rose to counter the smell of the sardines. Butch ends up eating the rose and they pour sardines over Love. World Wrestling Federation Superstars of Wrestling Aired April 22, 1989 (Taped April 4, 1989) Glens Falls Civic Center, Glens Falls, NY Jim Duggan vs George South - Jesse Ventura announces that Danny Davis has been reinstated as a referee WWF Update: Recap of last week’s Brother Love show where Randy Savage introduced Sensational Sherri as his new manager Big John Studd vs Mitch Casey Rick Martel (w/ Slick) vs Terry Daniels - prior to this match Slick introduced Martel as his newest protégé WWF Wipeout: Hercules The Genius vignette Ron Garvin vs Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) - after the match Valentine and Hart are interviewed by Tony Schiavone and Valentine says that the referee was paid off and gave him a fast three count. He then challenges Garvin to a rematch and says he’s so confident he’ll beat him, that he’ll put his career on the line. Jimmy Snuka vignette Twin Towers (w/ Slick) vs Dave Lanning & Tony Roy Brother Love show w/ Brutus Beefcake - he says that he can’t believe Randy Savage has chose Sensational Sherri as his new manager, and that she should be known as Scary Sherri. He repeatedly chants “Scary Sherri” trying to get the crowd to chant along with him. Sherri eventually comes out, slaps Beefcake in the face and continues to remonstrate with him until Savage jumps him from behind knocking him to the floor. They put the boots to him, Savage rams his head into the floor and Sherri starts cutting off his mullet. Bret Hart vs Chris Duffy No Holds Barred trailer Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs Paul Smith INT: Greg Valentine & Jimmy Hart & Ron Garvin - backstage confrontation where Garvin accepts Valentine’s challenge from earlier. Randy Savage arrives and says the only reason he is not the champion anymore is because Elizabeth distracted him and says that he is going to make sure she doesn’t interfere in his matches again. As he is about to slap her Hulk Hogan makes the save, but as he tends to Elizabeth Sherri grabs him by the hair and Savage nails him with a chair. He says that he only hit Elizabeth when Akeem threw him out the ring during the tag match at the Main Event because Hogan had told her to stand there. Says how he was going to check on his manager only to see Hogan hovering over ther and then carrying her to the back. States that he had to fight the match on his own and Hogan only came back when Elizabeth shamed him into it, and he was ready again to grandstand and show boat after he was in control. So when he stuck out his hand to be tagged in, he slapped him and it felt great and what’s going to feel even better is at Wrestlemania V when he has Elizabeth in his corner and he turns Hogan’s dreams into a nightmare. He says that at Wrestlemania V, Hogan won’t steal his thunder, won’t steal his manager as Elizabeth will be in his corner and he’s not going to steal his WWF Championship belt. Ware vs Ross Browner INT: Randy Savage - says he should’ve known from the beginning that Hulk Hogan was after his manager due to the lust in his eyes. He points to examples of Hogan stealing his spotlight because he was jealous of him and proof that Hogan was after Elizabeth. He says that at Wrestlemania V he’s taking nothing of his, he’s not taking his manager as she’ll be in his corner and he’s not taking his World title. Good interview. Jim Duggan vs Darrell Peterson (Maxx Payne) Brother Love show w/ Rick Rude & Bobby Heenan - Love congratulates Rude for winning the ‘Super Posedown’ and says that at Wrestlemania he’ll defeat the Ultimate Warrior to become the Intercontinental champion. Powers of Pain (w/ Mr Fuji) vs Ricky Ataki & Frankie Valdez INT: Hulk Hogan - where he responds to Randy Savage’s interview from earlier and says how he edited the footage to suit his means. He explains and answers Savage’s points and shows the full unedited footage. He goes on to say that the way he ruined everything, the way he put Elizabeth between them and the way he tore her heart out, there’s no way she’ll be in his corner at Wrestlemania and by the time this thing is over, he’s not going to be champion.
