Botched angle where the big Sid layout was done during commercial break. I know Shawn was off to sell the injury from Sid, but I'm not sure if there was anything more to him being gone for six weeks. I'm sure between all the technical problems at Wrestlemania the night before and this, Vince was livid.

I always thought that the commercial break was intentional so that they could hype the footage for that week's Superstars. Did the Observer ever report otherwise?

Never heard that, but it makes sense. I assumed it was a mistake.

 

Was Shawn out for any real reason during this time?

I remember this angle but I had no idea they didn't even show the powerbombs on the broadcast? That's like if WWE showed Lesnar coming out on Raw but no F5 to Cena.

Incredibly rushed angle, the night after they were hyping a title rematch that easily could have headlined the first IYH. All of a sudden Shawn doesn't need a bodyguard and Sid thinks Shawn is a stupid little puke. I still to this day don't know if that commercial break was intentional or not. It LOOKS like a planned way to hype up Superstars or WWF Mania, and i find it hard to believe that even the struggling mid-'90s WWF production team would go into the last segment like that with another commercial break still to go.
