Michaels and McMahon on commentary talking up a big surprise guest on the Kings’ Court. Lawler rips on some ringside fan. Lawler’s guest is Shawn Michaels who goes on about him responsible for Diesel becoming multitime champion the past year. So Diesel is feuding with both Backlund and Michaels at this point but he would end up facing Hart instead at Rumble.

Hakushi’s name is up in the clouds which get darker and darker. He’s on his way to the WWF. Very basic vignette which Vince just mentions he is from Japan.

Shawn is the "special guest", and it's funny how they play it. Shawn points out that no one heard of Diesel before him and he "plucked him from obscurity". This is Shawn's best, most focused heel promo of the year.

This was one of the few times where WWF New Generation did look big time and fresh. The comedy of Shawn being the guest was carried by Vince and his promo was detailed and focused without going too long. Well done.

Lawler must have somehow been starving for promo time because he crams in about 30 one-liners into his screen time here, even bringing back his old heel USWA "talk to the audience" shtick. Sort of a WWF-by-numbers promo but it gets all the points across. Shawn looks absurd but he was one of the only 1994 WWF guys with any air of legitimate "cool" about him, especially in this commentary role.
