Loss Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 Wow, they are really hyping up Iraq's deadline to leave Kuwait as the Ultimate Deadline. This is so unbelievably disgusting that I don't really know how to react. I'm not even offended. I am too shocked that this stuff actually saw the light of day to be offended. Quote
soup23 Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Pretty shocking that they use a 60 minutes sytle news item and tag in Slaughter. Quote
PeteF3 Posted February 15, 2013 Report Posted February 15, 2013 Iraq had a deadline of 1/15 to withdraw from Kuwait before the UN Coalition went to combat. The WWF touches on this...for the sole purpose of setting up a Sgt. Slaughter promo saying most of the same stuff as before about standing side-by-side with President Hussein. The U.S. on the verge of war is basically being treated the same way as a WWF title match. I think it's possible to incorporate current events into a wrestling angle in a reasonable, if not necessarily tasteful, way. But it needed something besides the WWF's hamhanded, sledgehammer of plot approach. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Talk about the special deadline for Saddam to leave Kuwaitt. They probably wished the date was the same as the Royal Rumble to play it up even more. Quote
spooner Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 It's been over 20 years, and I still can't believe they did this. Utterly tasteless from the WWF. Quote
garretta Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 More of the same crap from Slaughter and Adnan. There really isn't much new to say here. I'm surprised that at least some stations didn't pull Superstars and Challenge, and I'm doubly surprised that USA didn't complain about this stuff being rerun on Prime Time and All American. Either they all thought that no one with any sense could possibly be disgusted by pro wrasslin' or none of them were paying any attention to what was going out over their airwaves. I lay the percentage of each at about fifty-fifty. Quote
