They've taken Flair down so far that he doesn't even get a reaction in Atlanta. That takes effort. Ric announces that since Scott Steiner is not defending the U.S. title, he will be putting the belt on David. His logic is that since he beat Nash by countout the previous week, that makes him number one contender and thus U.S. champ. Charles Robinson comes out with Asya and a bevy of women. Flair explains that the women are for David so he can live the life of a champ. Ric says they're going downtown. This is embarrassing.

Buff Bagwell interrupts, and Bagwell is now more over than Flair. Wow. Flair has to sell Bagwell's lame insults like they are really harsh. Bagwell wants David in a match for the U.S. title.

Buff says this is Buff country and the crowd is tepid to say the least. This show is taking place in the Georgia dome and it's crazy how much they killed the town after the fingerpoke of doom. Huge crowd but no one gives a shit.

Sad times for Flair as nothing he says matters which is a far cry from his coronation promo at the beginning of the year in the same building.

Buff tried during this run but just wasn't the person to be the new babyface and interject new blood into WCW.

  • GSR changed the title to [1999-07-05-WCW-Nitro] Ric Flair, David Flair and Buff Bagwell
