Who is Larry Lane?

He worked the old Murdoch/BJ Mulligan Armarillo territory. He seems to have gotten a decent push. Any ideas?

Pretty sure this is the same guy who was "Red Dog Lane" in Mid-Atlantic as well.

I was doing some research on this earlier Pete. He was billed as a cousin of The Funks because apparently he looked a bit like Dory (I didn't think so, but there we are). He tagged with Dory some, not just in Amarillo but also up in Stampede. I also read he did a "wrestler vs. member of the crowd" gimmick at one point, and was billed as having come from the army.

Larry Lane was one of the top amateur wrestlers around in the 60's wrestling for Northern Colorado and he was a tough shooter kinda like Bob Roop

I think he started working in Southwest after Amarillo died, I seem to remember seeing him on some of the early Southwest episodes I have.

Larry Lane was the booker for Stampede. I read Heath McCoy 's book on Stampede and he described in detail the problems Lane had with Bruce Hart. Bruce keep running to his mother to undermine Lane 's booking. Lane time in Calgary is covered in Pain and Passion : The History of Stampedr Wrestling by Heath McCoy .

Bruce called him their Bob Backlund.....good worker who had zero charisma but wanted to be the top guy.
