DKM
I was at the show were Jax Dane won the title. It was a lot of fun. Second time I got to see the title change hands. First time when Kerry Von Erich won it from Flair. I watch SAW and Smoky Mountain.
Jingus
I don't see the financial point in belonging to the NWA nowadays. You've got to pay for membership dues, and I seriously doubt that having those letters in your company's title does anything to draw even one more fan to buy a ticket. And I don't think that any of the recent world champions are draws either (on the rare occasions they show up at the outlying "territories"), guys like Rob Conway are still seen as being jobbers and jokes by the common casual fanbase. DKM
If there is no value, then they don't need to pay the minimal fee. As for what is and what isn't a draw, well Smoky Mountain once drew 1,500 where the biggest name on the card. They 2,000 once as well. Dane has defended in about 5 of the promotions so far booked in a couple more in January. I'd rather not argue about the Pros and cons joining the NWA but discus what is going on in the NWA currently. We can assume the current 26 members see a value in it and go from there. Smack2k
Is the NWA from Hollywood show still on? I was really into that during Adam Pearce and Colt Cabana's NWA reigns. Had a lot of good stuff on it at the time.. Liked the guys that had the other bigger NWA titles at the time to, the NWA National Title / other titles like Phil Shatter / Kahagas / Chance Prophet / Damien Wayne / Vordell Walker / The Sheik Those guys still around? Mad Dog
It's still going without the NWA name. They started some NWA type thing called the United Wrestling Network or something like that. They have a Patreon and for $2 a month you get access to an archive with all of the TV dating back to 2010.
SomethingSavage
Yeah. Hollywood had some REALLY good television for awhile there. My viewing fell behind around the time the Vermin stable was introduced. It sucks that they stopped putting their shows up for free on YouTube. Last I checked, some of their old stuff was still up there though. The 7 Levels of Hate angle with Pearce and Cabana from that period is one of the most underrated feuds to happen in the last ten years or so. I don't think that's even a slight exaggeration either. I kept up with SAW for awhile, too. Call me crazy, but the show loses a little something since it's been taken out of the "Saw Mill" background. It may seem superficial, but the high school gymnasium look takes a lot away from it once you've seen them in that setting.I really dug the Ring Warriors brand for the VERY short time it was around also. I guess it's technically just gone on to become a different "promotion" under a new name or whatever, but I don't know. Haven't seen anything quite it like produced since then. Smack2k
Yes to the Cabana / Pearce 7 levels feud...that was a great feud and HUGELY underrated. Did you get the DVD that has all 7 matches complete plus the story of it behind the scenes? Its a GREAT DVD and worth getting.. I ordered it from Adam Pearce the day it came out a few years ago and wasnt disappointed. The two of them put on great matches with each other all over the NWA and really gave it a National type appeal. Their 2 or 3 title matches from the Hollywood show were really really good as well, I think I have those saved somewhere on a HDD as well, or couldve been deleted...I gotta look for them now that it was brought-up. As for other NWA, while I was watching Hollywood and before I just couldnt keep up due to time and work, I was into NWA On Fire / NWA Anarchy / NWA Smoky Mountain / NWA Fusion. Enjoyed all of it for various reasons and at the time thought a lot of those guys would break out to another level.

I didnt realize Phil Shatter was Gunner...but I also dont watch TNA, glad to see he got a bigger time role. Vordell Walker was the other I thought would see some bigger stuff eventually. kingliam
I'm keeping an eye on Fight Nation as it is fairly local. Watched the last show on streaming and it was solid if unspectacular.

It really is a shame that Prophet has never gotten an opportunity elsewhere. He is a good promo, a solid worker, and to top it off, may be the single nicest human being I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He doesn't drink or do drugs, is a family man, is actually ordained as a minister and preaches at his local church on weekends he isn't working (but never tries to thump his bible or convert anybody), he would honestly be the perfect ambassador for the charity work that the E loves so much. I also forgot to mention that Kahagas is still working as well, I ring announced an indy show he was on in West Virginia earlier this year. I think he works a lot for some promotion in the Bahama's or somewhere tropical.

Jingus
Current NWA SAW ShowAw man, Timmy and Reno, you didn't have ANYONE else to put with poor Hot Rod Biggs so he wouldn't be doing the commentary by himself? If I still lived in Nashville, there's a pretty good chance that I'd be doing the play-by-play announcing on these shows.
