I guess it runs in the family, uh ?

AAA is really gonna go on about booking Alberto when his father and brother are involved in *this*, putting Alberto's own bagage in perspective ("charges have been dropped" and all) ? Jeez Konnan, grow a fucking sense of dignity already.

Apparently Triplemania was garbage, and not just because Alberto was on it. Nick Nemeth won the title too. He's now a champ both in AAA and NJPW. That's kinda unique, politically speaking.

That CMLL April 19th show with *that* main event, on the other hand. Arena Mexico just seems like the coolest pro-wrestling place to visit. The Kiss-cam is a cute feature too. (hey, they should do it in other promotions, like Stardom. Wait. Wrong choice)

No post in this thread for more than one year. Ironically the last one being about last years's Triplamania being garbage. Things never change, and the board is sooo dead.

Anywoo. CMLL is just so much fun and ridiculously hot.Just watched that Bandido vs Mistico match from last month. Great stuff in a packed house, total dream match. Mistico is 42 and banged up, but he turns it on like he's Terry Funk. Bandido is just on fire right now. The CMLL story is pretty incredible, from being all but dead after Covid to being (not even) arguably the second hottest promotion in the world.

Not just hot, but all of a sudden incredibly deep. Mistico and some other big names are away this Friday but they've got a stacked show with MJF the only outsider. Zandokan & crew are a breath of fresh air and outside of the Star Jr. match they haven't exactly been featured at the top of the card very much. Villano III Jr. just returned from a lengthy injury layoff and looked pretty damn good for night 1. It seems like they're relying on Mistico/MJF for Aniversario along with the apuestas mish mosh underneath rather than doing something hot and fresh, but I can't blame them.

Yeah, they have so much depth it's ridiculous. After All In I'm kinda cutting back on pro-wrestling, as I'm feeling that sensation of being "content" with what I just had, I'm not even watching the G1 this year (thus far, and I doubt I will), but CMLL really is the easiest and most fun/satisfying wrestling product you can watch right now.

The MJF vs Averno match wasn't exactly the greatest, as MJF was in full "cheap heat" mode, which is fun to some extent but only works in a place like Arena Mexico. He also took a terrible looking bump out of Averno's second rope spot and seemed frustrated by the finish (probably a miscommunication with the ref). Averno was awesome playing the "he's our rudo" type babyface. Don't get me wrong, a really good and incredibly fun match thanks to the heat. Plus the fact Jon Cruz (and not Serpentico) was there as his translator/manager got a kick out of me. Cruz is the understated great worker of AEW. The Zandokan match should be something.

What's crazy is that this nuclear heat was not just for the main event. El Galéon Fantasma vs Neon, Templario & Titan was just as hot, and a great match to boot. El Galéon are just a ridiculously great trio. Los Herederos vs Blue Panther's sons earlier was also terrific. A card with so many big stars missing and they put on such a great night with insane heat is telling of how hot CMLL is right now. As the other guy said, enjoy it while its last. This week-end is kinda crazy too, as they are loading up the cards opposing NXT Mexico's Triplemania.

Grand Prix Internacional was awesome. What else is new ?

Gotta love that Speedball was positioned as the star of the International Team, being paired with Mistico at the beginning and the end. Must have been the highlight of his career thus far. Mistico in 2025 in Arena Mexico is just an amazing thing to watch in term of atmosphere. And he's not "aura farming" (yeah, gen-z talk here) either, he's working his ass off at his 42 banged up self.

MLW being valued as a partner by CMLL will never not be weird, but it allowed Donovan Dijak to be in this, and he made sure he belonged. That mofo even did a torneo.

Beast Mortos sure signed the best contract of his life with AEW, now, didn't he ? (on every level)

Next is Anniversario, and unlike the disaster last year with Jericho (remember this ?) it should be a classic.

(it would be quite ironic if the year WWE did their predatory shit by buying the second biggest lucha promotion to turn it into an americanized feeder system, CMLL won promotion of the year, Mistico won wrestler of the year and Bandido won best worker, which at this point, they really all should)

Mistico vs MJF at Anniversario 92 was a completely iconic match. Easy MOTYC, and really an all time classic. Mistico's destroyed mask soaked in blood is gonna be an iconic picture of modern, hell, all time lucha libre. Amazing for (the great) Jon Cruz to be part of this too. Although the sound mix was all screwed up, hearing Arena Mexico chant "Me Muero" got actual goosebumps from me. Watching Mistico turning into a legit living legend of lucha libre has been quite something (yeah, he already was to a point in the 00's, but this stint has took him to another level). And MJF had a match he can only have over there, and what a fucking match it was. Incredible stuff all around. This has totally been the year of CMLL.

Luchablog's great review of the event :

Blue Panther vs Ultimo Guerrero was probably the best match I've ever seen where the combined age is about 110 years. Like, legit great. It's obvious Ultimo has so much respect for Panther, and the old guy (the oldest) was on fire. The best I've seen him look from this "rebirth" stint. The fact it was from some MLW title made it even more of a mind-fuck (and really the only great match in "MLW history" alongside LA Park vs Jacob Fatu on that PPV in 2019).

Plus, it's free on Youtube. What's your excuse ?
