El Boricua
Carlos Colon vs. Hercules Ayala (7/23/88)
elliott
Chicky starts to interfere literally the instant the bell rings giving Ayala the advantages hahaha. Ayala controls Colon with punches, stomps, chokes etc with Chicky interfering when possible. Eventually this spills to the outside and Colon gets posted. Back in the ring and Ayala continues his punchy stompy shoulderblocky nerve holding time in control with Colon making brief comeback attempts throughout all of this. Bearhug by Ayala leads to commercial and Colon is punching his way out as we come back. Awesome extended comeback by Colon with a super hot crowd, great punches, headbutts, elbows, forearms, etc. Colon is dropping the strap like Lawler now which is fun. Some really fun leg work with Carlos going for the figure 4 a couple of times and Ayala getting away while Colon continues to stomp and attack at the leg in between attempts. He finally locks it in and crowd goes nuts. Chicky tries to interfere and Chris Youngblood comes out to stop him. Suddenly there’s like 10 people brawling all over ring side with Ayala locked in the figure 4 and its awesome. Finally Ron Starr sees the opportunity to blast Carlos off the tope rope and break up the figure 4. Carlos manages to recover but Ayala gets the immediate win as Ayala rolls him up with a small package. This was really good.
dawho5
I like how Chicky is more than willing to take a punch or two on the apron to get his man the advantage. That's commitment. The massive brawl going on outside the ring is overbooking at it's best with heels coming out and the faces they are feuding with stopping them from interfering.
