KrisZ
Kris & David are joined by Dave Musgrave (Wrestling Culture) to discuss the week that was October 26-November 1, 1997. We talk about Ric Flair’s contract status in WCW and then Halloween Havoc featuring maybe the greatest match ever on a WCW PPV and one of the worst angles ever. We talk about how to make dry ice bombs thanks to Big Japan, riots in Tijuana and in ECW, the aftermath of USWA dying, and the wackiness of WWF pre-Survivor Series 97. This is a damn good show so listen now!!! elliott
Man I always look forward to mondays for new BTS anyway, but when I saw Musgrave's name, holy crap. . You can't go wrong when you combine the two best wrestling podcasts. And then in the intros Kris just slayed me with "our guest is noted Canadian Dave Musgrave" and now people are looking at me as I laugh walking down the street. Mondays are the best. Thank you as always Kris & Bix.
DeanColes1987
Great show guys, playing the "Aztec" Jeff Jarrett theme had me in tears. September/October 97 in WCW to me is the period when all the midcard stuff goes to hell, the Blood Runs Cold stuff gets dropped just as the matches get good, the Lucha guys lose the increased TV Time they got under Terry Taylor, the short lived Jarrett/Guerrero/Alex Wright/Debra group is dropped even before Jarrett quits, Benoit and Mongo look like idiots for letting Flair get beatdown by the nWo. You also get pointless stuff like Ray Traylor being beatdown and Spray Painted every week and Scott Hall "putting over" Hector Garza As a 10 year old Bret Hart fan this period of WWF was so depressing, if Austin wasn't there I would probably have stopped watching and just watched WCW. I sound like I hated 1997 but January to August is so amazing and then the dropoff is so rapid.
JKWebb
It'd be cool if that Sting/Scott Hall dark match surfaces some day... sounds fun

Cox
FYI, I've talked to Joe Rules about winning the JAPW Heavyweight Title in that battle royal. He told me that he wasn't supposed to win the battle royal, which is why he put the title on the line in the next match against Pitbull and lost it, because Pitbull was supposed to win the title. GSR
It's several years since I watched and read about the fight, but I think Vitor Belfort and Joe Charles had the same coach or were possibly even training partners. Whilst not a work there was absolutely an agreement in place that they wouldn't trade punches and it would be basically a grappling match. You only have to watch any other Belfort fight from this era and then this one to realise that there was something going on.
Matt D
So I'm to this BTS (I am never going to be caught up). Small note on DDP taping his matches. I e-mailed him about this years ago, because I was curious if he did, in fact, have a ton of rare footage just hanging about. What he told me is that he wished that he did, but he basically just used the same tape and just continuously taped over it.
