soup23
This almost felt like an Undertaker WrestleMania match in a lot of ways. Perro doesn’t have hardly any athletic ability left but he has such presence and charisma that he carries most of the match that way. This stats with another interesting caveat of Scorpio and Shocker walking out on Bestia to start. Bestia wins the first fall handily and has the match in hand until Perro makes the traditional tecnico comeback in the sequnda caida. This brings in Cien Caras who blasts Perro with a milk bottle right over the dome. This gives Perro the second fall but he is a bloody mess. Third fall was really dramatic with both guys walking around like zombies and feeding into the next big bump. Perro eventually takes over for good and hits a senton and double stomp from the top rope. Bestia acts like he is having a heart attack and the doctor calls the match off giving Perro the win. They end up having to cut Bestia’s hair on the mat. ***3/
Loss
This was amazing. Perro is getting by on rep for the most part at this point, but he knows how to use his aura and credibility to get the crowd rocking, and his understanding of what the ebb and flow of a wrestling match should be is spot on. I loved the extraneous stuff here with the ringside doctor and both guys just bludgeoning each other in the second and third falls, especially because it created an eye-for-an-eye motif that played out in the finish. Salvaje woke the sleeping giant by pissing Perro off, and the old man proved he still had some fight in him. This rocked. Seems like Bestia Salvaje is always put in a position to be the mechanic in CMLL more than a star player, but he handles that role very well. ****1/
ohtani's jacket
There was so much bullshit in this match from Shocker and Scorpio being sent to the back to Máscara Año Dos Mil coming down to second Bestia and Scorpio slipping him the bottle that he used to smash Perro with. Covering Perro's head a towel led to the world's most obvious bladejob and all of the shit with the doctor took an eternity. When bloodied Perro made his comeback against Bestia the match hit the right note but there wasn't enough of that sort of work. Pierroth did an awesome job with the electrocution angle in the previous match but here the bullshit was too much. How many times did they cut to Perro's wife and kid? (I assume that's who they were.) The match wasn't exciting enough to justify that many cutaways. Too much smoke and mirrors and not enough blood and guts. The finish was brutal, though. It looked like it crushed Bestia's ribcage, Awesome stomp from old man Perro.
Tim Evans
CMLL playing off the famous Msacara 2000 beer bottle angle from AAA 1993 is weird. It wasn't as effective as back then but it did help Perro regain his breath. I didn't enjoy this because of the slowness and the constant cutaways to the woman and kid in the audience. Perro bleeds and Bestia loses when Perro crushes him with a double stomp. Perro works fine in tag matches around this time but he shouldn't be in singles matches. Moonsault Marvin
Perro lacked his normal energy in this one, so other than a few moments in the 3rd fall, the match plodded along. The constant cutaways to the crowd also killed the flow of the match. Average match.
Mattsdmf
Unfortunately, I didn't get much out of this match. While I do like a surly bloody hair match, this was much too slow. It was like Salvaje and Perro were moving in slow motion. I didn't understand why they kept showing the kid and older woman (I'm assuming they're relatives). Not a bad match but disappointing.
