thebrainfollower
Wonder if anyone around here is very knowledgeable about Joe Blanchard's old territory. I am putting together a 75 minute or so primer on that territory for my podcast showing old stuff to new fans, and that's not one I have too much footage of or know that much about really. Superstar Sleeze
It begins and ends with Terry Funk vs Bob Orton - 5/26/83. A match so good it will be probably make my Top 100 Matches of All Time. I have seen some Bock from down there that's pretty good. Never seen any Tully & Gino yet. Anyways, yeah Funk vs Orton must watch.
thebrainfollower
I can see why. A def must include match. This was the night of the tournament for the "world title" won by Adrian Adonis, yes?
TheDuke
Shoutfactory TV right now has a bunch of the Mean Gene Classic Wrestling specials, including one on Southwest. http://www.shoutfactorytv.com/lone-star-shootout/5a3c07970977561554000112

victory
Southwest was a real blood and guts promotion. Everything is kind of hit or miss for me. One of the more famous angles is Scott Casey dumping a bucket of crap on Bobby Jaggers. That should give you a clue what kind of a promotion it was. The Sheepherders wrestled the Road Warriors here which was a dream match at the time. Unfortunately it's only 2 minute clip of that. Sure looked fun. Ricky Morton and Ken Lucas have a good match with Gino and Tully. The two interviewers is strange. They have Steve Stack interview in English and another interview relaying the message in Spanish due to the large Spanish audience I would presume. Sean Liska
I've seen some really good Southwest TV shows but it's hard to get dates to know what you're watching.
goc
Yea I'm not sure any territory is harder to figure out dates for than Southwest.
Noah Mark
Good promotion. It was pretty much dominated by Jonathon Boyd & the Sheepherders and Eric Embry and Bruiser Bob Sweetan. A lot of guys came through the territory such as Scott Casey, Manny Fernandez, Killer Brooks, Kevin Sullivan. They even had a working agreement with Georgia Championship Wrestling. Tommy Rich and Buzz Sawyer had a few matches at the Hemisphere Areana.
Noah Mark
That was Steve Stack and Repeato.
