kevinmcfl Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Sorry for falling so far behind. PCW seems to have a pretty big shift but you have it all heading in a great direction. No more Dibiase New Champ Piper passing Playboy. This will be fun a new age in PCW.
spaldoni Posted June 20 Posted June 20 This is definitely a career breakthrough year for the Thrillseekers Modest shows what he can do as a single's competitor Cornette's a smart man using Big Vito as a roadblock to Condrey. Taz is quickly making a name for himself The return of Elizabeth! The Randy/Liz package is back! OOOOOHHHH YEA! Hart found a massive ally. This feud is going to get brutal Cow Palace Since losing the titles, Iron and Steel seemed to be getting stronger. That's not good for the other teams Loving Martel's heel run. So much potential here What's it going to take to get Wright 100% focused If you haven't guessed, the Spinebuster Slam is probably my favorite finisher in this game Oh man, the Martel/Windham feud is going to go off the rails after what just happened Fresno Smoking Gunns are off to a solid start Finlay leads by example Douglas is in contention for comeback of the year PCO racks up another W My guys the FOJ retain. I give Scotty and Stevie a lot of credit. They've worked hard to get into title contention and I'm sure they'll get another shot Kid and Lynn tear it up and end the weekend on yet another high note for the LHW's
rainmakerrtv Posted June 20 Author Posted June 20 Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, June 26th , 1991 The Tazmaniac vs. Colton Cumbie Once again, the show kicks off with the Sinister Minister bringing out his latest, errrrr, thing. The Tazmaniac was all grunts and snarls before the match started, but once the bell rang, he tore into Cumbie like a rotisserie chicken. Tazmaniac savagely battered Cumbie from pillar to post, and then came the closing stretch. The wild man unleashed a series of textbook suplexes … if the book was How To Drop Someone On Their Head. The ref decided that Cumbie had been knocked out and called the match, but that was not enough for Tazmaniac, who locked in the Tazmission after the match. Despite the ref's orders, Tazmaniac would not release the hold, all while the Sinister Minister cackled away. It looked like he might so some serious damage until Steve Blackman came running out and forcing him with a series of kicks to release the hold. Tazmaniac looked like he was going to go after the Living Weapon, but when Dan Severn arrived to back up his friend, the Sinister Minister pulled the Tazmaniac away. I don't think this is the end of things. Chris Candido vs. Stevie Richards Not that long ago, Stevie Richards being sent out to face a former Playboy Club member would have been a punishment, intended to humiliate him by having him be pummeled and made a fool of. Times certainly have changed, and the Dancin' Fool has proved himself enough to be sent out to make Candido pay some dues. Despite his goofball attitude, Richards really took it to Candido, getting some heavy shots in on the New Jersey native. Candido rallied and took Richards down with a side slam, but when he went up top for the New Jersey Jam, he was ambushed from behind by Scotty The Body, who shoved him hard off the top turnbuckle. The two double teamed Candido until Roddy Piper ran out, brandishing his leather belt like a whip and ran them off. He may be a clueless putz, but it's dangerous to take Richards too lightly. Fastball (Bobby Horne & Robert Thompson) vs. The Serial Thrillaz The tag team scene in PCW is as dynamic as ever, and with a crop of promising new teams rising up, there are now shortage of future contenders. Two rookie tag teams getting attention are Trisa Haye's duo of Fastball and Fit Finlay's pupils the Serial Thrillaz. The two had a quick but intense match, with the fast pace of the Thrillaz met by the power offense of Fastball. Horne was able to catch Shane Helms with a DDT to take the match, but both duos came out looking like they had a promising future. The Sons Of The Beach (Cannonball Grizz & The Sandman) vs. John Cody & Brad Culpepper Another new duo on the rise are the Surfing Superstars, Cannonball Grizz and the Sandman. The founding members of the Peach Patrol, they have showed that they can get serious in their recent feud with the FBI. They easily dominated their opposition, dispatching Culpepper with the Wipeout (while Grizz holds the opponent over his knee, Sandman hits a top rope legdrop). A convincing victory for the Sons. The Smoking Gunns vs. The Dudley Boys Ever since the Smoking Gunns arrived in PCW, the fans have taken the handsome cowboys to their hearts. The Dudleys, on the other hand, have a less warm view of Billy and Bart. As part of their ally Rick Martel's war with Barry Windham, the boys from Dudleyville have targeted the Texas cousins for destruction. No matter what the Dudleys threw at them, the Gunns held the line and fired back in kind. The Dudleys were finally able to hit a double lariat to just barely put down Billy for the three count, but even then, the cowboys seemed eager for another shot at them. The Dudleys may have scored a victory, but they have far from broken the spirit of the Smoking Gunns. Pacific Television Title Match : Big Bully Busick © vs. Eddie Guerrero Big Bully Busick has now been Pacific TV champ for over a year, and has understandably established a reputation as the most dominant wrestler to ever hold that title. One challenger he has yet to decisively defeat has been Eddie Guerrero. Busick and the second generation star have locked horns a couple of times so far, never to a decisive finish. Guerrero came out for this match loaded for bear, taking the fight right to Busick. The champ fought back hard, making every shot count, but Guerrero had a seemingly boundless ability to bounce back. The two were still going at it when the bell rang, signalling the end of TV time and resulting in a draw. Could Guerrero be the one to finally take the title from Busick?
rainmakerrtv Posted June 20 Author Posted June 20 Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN, June 27th , 1991 Iron & Steel (Tony Atlas & Larry Cameron) vs. The Headbangers Last week's match between these two teams showed that I&S have not lost a step since losing the titles, but this time out the story has become the surprising toughness of the Headbangers. No matter what Atlas and Cameron threw at them, Mosh and Thrasher kept up their attack, and it took a brutal Spike Piledriver on Thrasher to put them down long enough for a three count. Dean Malenko vs. David Cash Malenko was able to hold off a game Cash, forcing him to tap out to the Texas Cloverleaf. Shane Douglas vs. Sabu The Bombay Madman brought the insanity and Shane rose to the challenge, surviving Sabu's insanity and hitting the Belly To Belly Suplex for the win. Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Chris Adams Adams was able to overcome the Fighting French Canadian by way of his trademark Superkick. Randy Savage & The Thrillseekers vs. Brian Lee & The Oregon Wrecking Crew (Gary Albright & David Young) A ferocious battle that eventually descended into sheer chaos with all six men in the ring, resulting in a No Contest. Sgt. Slaughter & The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) vs. The Midnight Express Another war, with Sarge getting the win by hitting the Slaughter Cannon on Lane . Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Toshiaki Kawada © vs. Barry Windham A rematch from last week, this time, thankfully, without the interference from Rick Martel. This match went very long, with Windham nearly hitting the Western Lariat, but it was cut off by a spinning back heel kick from Kawada. The champ followed up with a Power Bomb to retain his title.
rainmakerrtv Posted June 20 Author Posted June 20 Pacific Coast Wrestling Show from the UCSB Event Center, Santa Barbara, June 28th , 1991 Jerry Lynn vs. Alex Wright Lynn pulled off something of an upset by defeating the second generation star with a Package Piledriver. Michael Modes vs. Little Guido Surprisingly, this was a tight , purely technical battle, which Modest was able to take, pinning Guido with an Oklahoma Roll. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Big Vito This was not so technical, being more of a slugfest, with both men battered and bloody at the end. Vito hit very hard, but Bigelow hit that much harder, and was finally able to overcome the Pugnacious Paisano with a slingshot splash. Steven Regal & Tommy Dreamer vs. Coast 2 Coast (John Tatum & Jack Victory) There seems to be a new resolve in Dreamer, a fire in his eyes, inspiring him to defeat the former Tag Team champs when he and Regal hit a double DDT on Tatum. Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Lightning Kid © vs. Ultimo Dragon A gripping light heavyweight duel, with the Kid coming out on top by way of a moonsault body press on the former champ. California Title Match : Rob Van Dam © vs. Steve Blackman These two were having a very closely contested title match until the Tazmaniac charged in to attack Blackman. Lucky for the Living Weapon, his mentor Dan Severn was in his corner and rescue him from the double team.
spaldoni Posted yesterday at 04:21 PM Posted yesterday at 04:21 PM Taz is ready to take the next big step with the Lethal Weapon and the Beast. Things are going to get nuts Piper and Candido vs. The Playboy Club is one fun feud Fastball gets their biggest PCW win while the Sons get to shine. The tag team competition is fierce! Gunns and Dudley's are giving PCW some bangers Eddie's getting closer to that TV title. Another thing I love about this game is giving guys the breaks they didn't get IRL. Busick is the perfect example. He's had two year long TV title reigns in two different promotions. I love it LA Headbangers are getting some great in ring experience by going toe to toe with Iron and Steel Malenko might want to try for the submission title again Douglas's hot streak continues Adams superkick remains one of the strongest finishers 6-Man chaos! Gotta love it Kawada retains against former champ Windham, with a clean win. This elevates Kawada even higher Santa Barbara Lynn gets a confidence building win Modest and Guido show off their technical skills Damn, Bigelow and Vito have a slugfest. Bigelow's on his way to a title shot Regal and Dreamer show some impressive teamwork Kid keeps his title reign going with a fast paced win over the former champ Can't wait for Taz and the Beast to go at it.
rainmakerrtv Posted yesterday at 06:13 PM Author Posted yesterday at 06:13 PM Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, on ESPN / TSN, July 3rd, 1991 Steve Blackman vs. The Tazmaniac Last week, Blackman interceded on behalf of a rookie when the Tazmaniac refused to release the Tazmission. It didn't take long for the wild man to retaliate, attacking Blackman as he challenged RVD. This match was quickly signed and these two men quickly got down to it, with Blackman having Dan Severn in his corner and the Tazmaniac being accompanied by the Sinister Minister. Tazmaniac came charging in with his usual wild, swinging offense, but Blackman wisely used his kicks and knee strikes to force him to keep his distance. The Tazmaniac did manage to catch him in some throws, but the Living Weapon was able to roll through them and end up on his feet. Little by little, it seemed like Blackman was able to chip away at the defenses of the wild man. Then, an unfortunate lapse in concentration from Blackman allowed the Tazmaniac to grab him and land a swift, jarring takeover suplex. That was enough to give the opening for a series of suplexes, much out of keeping with the man's caveman persona. This seemed to particularly shock Dan Severn, who stared intensely at the Tazmaniac. The Tazmission was locked on Blackman, who, not wanting to risk injury, quickly tapped out. Tazmaniac looked like he wanted to do some more damage, but Severn quickly entered the ring and the Sinister Minister led his strange new charge away. Severn kept staring at the Tazmaniac as he left the ring. What is the Beast seeing that we are not? Fastball (Bobby Horne & Robert Thompson) vs. Dave Samson & Garrett Adelstein Things may be getting a bit dark and crazy in the rest of PCW, but Fastball can always be counted on the bring the good times. Trisa Hayes' duo put smiles on a lot of faces in the Arena as they easily rolled over their opposition, polishing off Adelstein with the Fastball Special (Rocket Launcher). Nice to see someone these days embrace the positive. Chris Hamrick vs. Little Guido Chris Hamrick had a solid rookie year in 1990, making it to the finals of the Tournament Of Lions and emerging as the singles standout of the Money Train. 1991 has a bit tougher on Confederate Currency, where he has faced some more experienced opponents and come out on the short end. That hasn't gotten Hamrick down, and he took on young Guido with his trademark enthusiasm. The young FBI member was quite eager to lock up with Hamrick, and the two had a fairly closely contested bout. Ultimately, Hamrick was able to pull out the win by catching Guido with the FrankenHamrick. Just goes to show, you can't keep a good ole Southern boy down for long. Rick Martel vs. Brice Johnston My how times have changed . Time was, Rick Martel's appearances in BC would be met with overwhelming cheers from the audience. His shift to the dark side has resulted in him being greeted by non-stop boos, all of which just seemed to make the French Canadian star even more disgruntled. He could have easily beaten Johnston at any time, but instead he chose to torment and torture the rookie until finally forcing him to give up to the Quebec Crab. Here's hoping Barry Windham can knock some sense into him, or at least give him reason to regret. Lance Storm vs. Brian Lee One of a pair of Canadians who still know how to get cheers from their home country fans, Lance storm eagerly slapped palms with the audience as he headed to the ring. He and Chris Jericho are riding quite the wave in tag team action, with the Thrillseekers rapidly rising up in the rankings. This , however, was a singles match, and he would be facing the big "Bulldozer" Brian Lee. To his credit, Storm gave a good accounting of himself, dodging some of Lee's power offense and holding his own in some tight exchange. Eventually, the Bulldozer proved too much to overcome, taking down Storm with the Prime Time Slam. A tough loss, but Storm can take pride in not backing down from the new leader of the Terror Collective. Pacific Television Title Match : Big Bully Busick © vs. Alex Wright For all of his insufferable smugness, it speaks well of the abilities of Alex Wright that he is able to get a high profile TV title shot in his rookie year. Give credit where it is due, Das Wunderkind brings considerable technical abilities to the table, which stood him well in his match with the Man From Powerhouse Hill. Dean Malenko and the Sinister Minister were in his corner, keeping him focused on the match and away from distraction. The second generation put in an impressive effort, but when he attempted a reverse flying cross body, Busick was able to catch him in mid air and crush him with a powerslam. That was enough for the three count, continuing Busick's dominant reign as TV champ.
rainmakerrtv Posted yesterday at 06:14 PM Author Posted yesterday at 06:14 PM Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver on Pacific Super Cards on ESPN / TSN , July 4th, 1991 Iron & Steel (Tony Atlas & Larry Cameron) vs. The Headbangers The Headbangers continued to be quite aggressive, which only brought out more of the ire in the former champs, who put down Mosh with the Spike Piledriver. Pierre Carl Ouellet vs. Stevie Richards Richards managed to annoy the Fighting French Canadian, which led PCO to keep hitting him even harder. Ouellet was going up top for a Cannonball, but Scotty The Body shoved him off the top turnbuckle to the mat, leading to a DQ. The two continued to double team Ouellet post match until David Cash and Jason Jett ran out to help their mentor. Even then, Scotty managed to hit the Body Shot (DDT) on Cash before the Playboy Club retreated. David Cash & Jason Jett vs. The Dudley Boys Cash was still staggered from the earlier attack, leading to Jett having to wrestle most of the match by himself. Not good circumstances to face while dealing with the brawling Dudleys, who battered the young duo before pinning Cash following a double Flapjack. Barry Windham vs. Buddy Rose Rose might not look like a peak athlete these days, but Barry Windham knows better than to underestimate the Playboy. Rose brings a wealth of cunning and trickery to the game, and the two multi time former Pacific Heavyweight champs had a tough and gritty match. Rose seemed close to pulling off something of an upset on several occasions , but Windham was able to flatten him with the Western Lariat for a big win. Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The Midnight Express © vs. The Sons Of The Beach (The Sandman & Cannonball Grizz) The SoBs were determined to make the most of this title opportunity, and came on incredibly strong with the champs. The Midnights wound up resorting to having Bobby Eaton clobber Grizz in the back of the head with the loaded Tennis Racquet to steal the win. Bret Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow & Steve Williams vs. Toshiaki Kawada, Chris Adams & Mike Awesome As you can imagine, this was a wild and crazy match, with both sides tearing into each other throughout. Williams was able to knock Kawada out of the ring and, while the two were brawling at ringside, Adams tried to take advantage of the distraction by nailing Bret with a Superkick from behind. Bret ducked at the absolute last second, then caught Adams in a rollup for the one two three.
rainmakerrtv Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Author Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the Kelowna Memorial Arena, Kelowna, July 5th, 1991 Ultimo Dragon vs. Jerry Lynn Lynn was able to pull off a major upset by pinning the former Light Heavyweight champ with La Magistral. The Smoking Gunns vs. Coast 2 Coast Two upsets in a row, with the relatively fresh faced Gunns scoring a win over veteran villains Coast 2 Coast by taking down Jack Victory with the Sidewinder. Shane Douglas vs. Shane Helms This battle of the Shanes wound up being a bit of a thrill ride, with Helms showing off some impress high speed moves before the more experienced Douglas prevailed by way of the Belly To Belly Suplex. Chris Jericho vs. Gary Albright Jericho did his best to work a cat and mouse match with the Animal, but Albright crushed him in the corner with an Avalanche , then hit a running splash for the win. Golden State Tag Team Title Match : The Force Of July (The Patriot & The Eagle) © vs. The FBI The Pugnacious Paisanos proved that Jim Cornette's faith in them was well deserved, coming close on a number of occasions of taking the belts before the masked favorites too Guido down with a double flying shoulder block. California Title Match : Rob Van Dam © vs. Chris Candido The resurgent Candido took RVD to the limit, going to a 20 minute time limit draw with the champ.
